Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 - Fuel Gauge Reads Empty Even After Filling?
Fuel gauge goes back to empty when I fill the truck all the way up. It goes back to full once I have used up 2 gallons ( from 36 gal to 34 ) on my 2012 F350. I also had a similar issues years ago with my 2003 6.0L .....
View 4 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Whining Sound / Low Fuel Pressure And Reduced Power Warning - Fuel Pump Just Died
So, I just had the fuel pump replaced on my '15 6.7 a month ago and it just died again. (next day edit: it didn't actually die, it showed all the same symptoms)
Same symptoms: whining sound, low fuel pressure warning, reduced power warning.
This time I'm 50 miles from home so I pulled off the road before it shut off. Interesting, I was in a hilly area and my low fuel warning came on too. We are waiting for a tow. I was considering trying to push on but don't want to get stuck in a dangerous spot on the highway. We're in a church parking lot.
So, last time this happened I was on flat road with about a half tank of fuel on a lunch break. I ran a mile after the warnings came on to feel out the issue and to see what would happen. I happened to be only about a mile away from my dealer so I drove that way. I got reduced power warning and then it cut power on me (limp mode). I made it to about 100 yards away before it cut off.
This time, I was in a hilly area at night on a windy two lane road with no shoulders in the woods. I was miles from civilization and was showing below a quarter tank of fuel. ~100 miles to EMPTY. I got the low fuel pressure warning first and then the reduced power mode before the whining noise started. I was climbing a hill on a curve at the time. I drove a quarter mile and then pulled off the road into a parking lot so I wouldn't be stuck on the shoulder. It didn't actually go into limp mode.
I let it sit a few minutes, talked it over with the wife and decided to call for a tow. After talking to the tow truck driver who said he would be an hour because he had to go find a bigger truck, I decided to see what I could do while I wait. I fired it back up and the fuel level dropped to below 1/8 and I was now showing 33 miles to EMPTY. I was parked on a hill with the back end up. I had backed the truck into a space to make it easier for the tow truck driver. I let it run a minute, checked for leaks and it seemed to run fine with no studdering or additional warning lights.
CEL was on but no new warnings. I put in my code reader and pulled the P0087. Just one code. I revved it a bit to see if there were any issues. It seemed fine so I decided to try my luck. I started driving towards home with the intention to stop at the first diesel station to fill up. Truck ran fine. After two minutes of driving gently, heart racing, my fuel level came back up and it now read 88 miles to EMPTY. I drove 11 miles to the nearest station and filled up. No issues. I shut it down. I fired it back up. Still no issues so with a full tank, I drove home the remaining 30 miles without issue.
Planning to take it in to the dealer Monday to get it checked. Could this be from an air pocked due to low fuel level and hilly terrain? Is my new pump dying already? Is there something else going on inside the tank or elsewhere?
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Aux Fuel Gauge And Fuel Pump Both Quit
I have my aux fuel tank pump hooked to upfitter 3. It has worked perfectly until this week. I started to transfer fuel and the aux fuel gauge and fuel pump both quit. The led on upfitter switch 3 still illuminates, but no fuel pump. I found fuse 9 on passengers kick panel is for upfitter 3. The fuse was good. Is there another fuse somewhere for the circuit I've missed? I can trouble shoot the wiring if necessary, but it's tough to do all behind the left side underbed box and not easy to get to. I've missed something simple before I go further????
View 14 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2016 - Got Low Fuel Pressure Message?
I have a 2016 F350 i purchased about a year ago and now has 7500 miles. last night it tossed up a low fuel pressure message and then de-rated then wouldn't start, i heard a crazy humming sound before it shut off. they pulled the fuel filters "claimed it was gelled" even though it fired right up once it got to the dealership. the fuel i run is good to -9*F and i use ford anti-gel on top of that. So they changed the filters and it wouldn't start again. now they are dropping the tank. So, I am not sure what they are gonna find but I am meticulous when it comes to pulling all the foil off of the anti-gel bottle before even opening the cap. I don't know what could possibly be in the tank to cause the issue.
View 13 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Got Warning Message - Low Fuel Pressure?
Driving back from the funeral and get a Low Fuel Pressure Warning message PPP up in the info display. No CEL's etc thrown (yet?). I have PM23A anti-gel in the tank already but stopped for diesels no poured more in. At the same time, I hear what sounds like an electronic motor making a whirring noise in the dash around the area of the under-hood fuel filter. Also sounds like there is the same noise from the back fuel pump. I assume it's the fuel system starving? Calling the dealer now, but going to continue pressing on cautiously until the truck tells me otherwise.
View 14 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Fuel / Power Message Then Check Engine Light On
My low fuel light came on tonight. I drove about 2 miles, stopped and shut the truck off. When I restarted it and began to drive off to the fuel station a notice came on that isaid power reduced then a check engine light came on. I was about a mile or less from the fuel station so I filled up. I cycled the key but the engine light is still on. No low power message tho. The power is fine.
I came home and drained the water drain on the filter, didn't see any water but hoped it would solve the problem. I cycled the key a few times and started the truck but the light is still on. My truck is a 2013 f350 6.7 and has 211500 ish miles on it. I bought it a month ago with 18500 miles and haven't had any issue until tonight. My only thought is maybe the fuel filters need changed. I don't know if or when the previous owner changed them.
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Water In Fuel / Drain Filter Warning Message Came On
During a heavy rain the "water in fuel, drain filter" warning came on. I drained the filter like suggested and a water bottle full of water drained out. This is less then a week after I had the titan fuel tank installed. After I drained the fluid I restarted the engin and "reduce power an water in fuel" warning came on. I am 250 miles from the nearest ford dealer. How major is this???
View 12 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Pressure Fuel Pump
So I just replaced the low pressure fuel pump on my 14 6.7 and it seems to be running as good as it was before. I need to get an aftermarket fuel filter setup for my truck. So what are you using, why did you pick that particular system and is it working, does it really work for taking out water and other contaminates? These fuel systems don't seem to be up to par in filtering modern day fuel, I need peace of mind.
View 14 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 - No Power To Fuel Pump
So I'm stumped I have an 04 6 liter and I have no power to my fuel pump. My fuse under my Dash is good which is a 20 amp fuse which is number 40. My inertia switch is not tripped and I have power to it however my fuel pump does not have power what else could it be? Is there a relay somewhere else?
View 5 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Pressure Fuel Pump Noise
I am a new diesel owner. I bought a 2014 F250 about 9 months ago. Three times in the last 50k miles I have heard the fuel pump near the tank making noise. Twice, while making the high pitched noise I have gotten a low fuel pressure warning and reduced engine power.
The first time, I left the truck with the dealer for two days while a tech drove it around. everything checked out fine. (30k miles)
The second time I heard the noise i did not get the low fuel pressure warning. (40k miles)
Today, I heard the noise and got the lower fuel pressure warning just before the truck stalled out. Lucky for me, I was near home. After a minute the truck start and I nursed it the last mile or two. (56k miles)
The tow truck just picked it up and is off to the dealer. It sound to me like the low pressure transfer pump is bad or going bad.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: No Power To Fuel Pump
2004 F-250 4x4 6.0 diesel 120,000 miles, only modification is egr delete, i had a loss of power, pulled over truck died, replaced both fuel filters, found pump was not running, checked and had power to pump plug, replaced fuel pump, now no power to fuel pump, have power to fuse (40 i think) have power to inertia switch both sides, but no power to plug at pump. ran jumper wire to battery to get truck home. I need to know if there is any other component between inertia switch and pump, and or test points, as i think i must have a broken wire.
View 14 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2013 - Low Pressure Fuel Pump Housing Cracked?
This pump hangs down fairly low and appears easy for ice and rocks to hit on my 2013. Something hit mine and took a chunk out of the drain tube. No leaks yet but I am looking to get a new one and keep this as a spare, or just JB weld it. Can I just buy the lower section, or do I need to get entire pump?
Any creative protection bracket made? Would just have to take it off to change filter though. Any leak in this housing is a major show stopper when in the middle of nowhere! Maybe why it is getting brought into the tank on new models?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2007 - Real Rough And Stalled - Fuel Pump?
I have a 2007 F550 with a 6.0. Truck started running real rough and stalled. I was able to start it back up after a bit but within a few blocks it did the same thing. Was very similar to problems I had with clogged fuel fuel filters before I changed the tank to a plastic one. I pulled the filter and housing on the rail and cleaned and replaced the filter. There was no debris in there. Changed the filter on top of the engine too. Cycled the key 5-6 times. I could hear the pump running but the filter housing on top of the engine did not fill up; all I saw was a very little bubbling and gurgling sound.
I opened the drain on the rail filter housing and a little fuel came out but not as much as it should have. Cap is tight, don't see where I could be sucking air. I'm thinking the pump may be shot? Only other thought I had was maybe I switched the plugs on the housing on the rail but I really don't think I did. There are 2 plugs on the right hand side. Black plug is plugged into the lower position parallel to the ground while the gray plug is in the higher position.
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2011 F250 - Fuel Pump Is Humming Really Loud?
I just recently bought a 2011 powerstroke f250 and while running I can hear the fuel pump humming pretty loud. Is this a possibility that it's going out? Or is this normal?
View 3 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Fuel Filter / Pump Started Squealing And Making Vibrating Noise
Well, I last summer my fuel filter/ pump started squealing, and making vibrating noise, replaced the fuel filter changed the noise slightly, some times it would go away, sometimes the line going to the filter under the hood would vibrate, couple weeks ago truck warning light came on- "low fuel pressure warning" came on, hum... went out, came on a couple days later, then finally put me into limp mode, luckly only 1/2 mile from home... checked filter on frame/ tightness, it was tight, the pump on the filter housing was very noisey still, well, I figured 200 dollars cheaper than taking to ford....
I waited and pump arrived 3 days later, replaced it and low pressure warning still on, but pump was very quiet, and when I restarted low pressure warning and reduced power came on in driveway, hum.... I thought code was still in computer, I disconnected battery and turned headlights on to try and kill the code, started it and now the engine light came on, nothing else, and truck ran fine....hum.... went to autozone, and they pulled the code, low fuel rail pressure, p0087, guy said to drive and code should go off, truck runs fine. Drove truck a couple days and engine light went off, Truck runs great.......All is good.
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2011 F250 - Water In Fuel / Sighs Of Rust In High Pressure Pump?
Recently my 2011 F-250 Diesel with 21,000 miles seemed to start hard one morning. After starting the truck it ran well that day and started fine. The next morning it would not start. Had it taken to the dealer and they went to work. Started at the fuel filters and replaced low pressure fuel pump. Thought a piece of the defective pump had moved up fuel line. Removed high pressure pump and found signs of rust. All regular service intervals have been met. Didn't see this coming. No water in fuel light or other warning.

Is there a way to fill up the reservoir for hpop and cooler after replacement? I didn't want to burn down the starter and kill batteries cranking all day until everything is full. View 3 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Truck Struggled To Start After Filling Up - Low ICP
Today the truck struggled to start after filling up, even harder the next time, and now it's in my driveway dead and I have a job at work that requires me to go to Michigan next week that I can't afford to lose. On to the issue...
When cranking, my icp won't go above 400psi now, and I understand I need Atleast 500 to fire off. I'm mechanically inclined but new to diesels, so don't be afraid to dumb it down...can't be cocky when your learning. Where should I start my troubleshooting?
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: How To Check DEF Level Or DPF Filling Status
OK, I've had this truck one month now, and I like it. I think a full-blown analog DEF gauge (a la Dodge) is silly - it doesn't change that much. But I would like to go into a menu somewhere and simply be able to get a reading (90% remaining, 77% remaining, 15% remaining, etc., etc.) From what I understand the 'system check' function will tell you if the level is below half, or just about empty, and nothing else.
Finally, the DPF. Why can't we see EGT on the "gauge" screen which shows tranny and oil temps? Why can't it tell us what % the DPF is filled? When a passive regen is happening? And at the very least, when an active regen is finished?
As a side question, can the high idle control (SEIC) be actuated in any way other than the upfitter switches, which my truck does not have? I understand RAM trucks can press and hold the cruise control or something to activate it.
