Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 - Tires Wearing Uneven?
I have a 2010 fx 4 cew cab that has a 2" lift on it. I am new to the truck scene, but my wife has always wanted a big truck. I have pro comp tires that are 35 X 12.50X20 LT. They are the Pro Comp Xtreme A/T. The truck is driven evry once in a while and it is never off road. The issue I am having is that the tire wear is really bad and uneven in the front. It has been aligned 3 times in one year and the balance has been checked. I had the lift kit done at the dealership and they are saying this is normal and that the wear is due to not rotating the tires every 3000 miles. If the truck was driven every day I would understand but it only has 10,000 miles on it. Is this normal? The wear looks like a shock could be bad but they have already replaced the shocks about 3 moths after i purchased the truck.
View 14 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 - Brake Pad Wearing At 26000 Miles?
So last night on my way home I was stopping at a traffic signal and noticed a grinding noise from the drivers side front wheel. Upon further investigation I noticed a lot of brake dust on my wheel. I took it to the dealer thinking the caliper might be seized up. Well they looked at the caliper and said it was OK but the inside pad was worn to the metal. The other pads still looked good but since they have to replace the rotor they might as well replace all of them. The tech told me that being up north where they use salt corrodes the pads and doesnt allow them to move freely. He also asked me if I drive a lot of highway miles and I said yes, 30 miles a day. I guess from what he said is that the less they get used the more they will corrode up. So premature brake pad wear could be worse.
View 6 RepliesIS F (2008-2014) :: 2011- Front Inner Tire Wearing?
I'm looking to buy an ISF and now I'm reading about the 2IS chassis suffering from front inner tire wear with many attributing it to the soft LCA bushing (see FIG fix) and the factory alignment. Most of the reports seem to be focused on the 2008-2010 ISFs and I see little about 2011+ owners reporting this issue. It's my understanding that the 2011+ front springs are slightly taller/higher and a different rate. Did this possibility (inadvertently) correct the front inner tire wear issue?
I had a 2003 G35 and front inner tire wear plagued that car too and it was annoying and no real fix available. It had the same exact suspension setup on ALL components. We didn't smoke through the inner rubber tread, but rather it feathered like and if you didn't stay on top of it, your G/Z would sound and feel like a dump truck after about 10-15K miles because of the feathering.
I'm looking at 2012-2014 ISFs and I would check and correct the alignment if necessary. I know FIG makes a replacement bushing, but it's urethane and after about 20 years of modding cars, I've learned that urethane is best left to race cars. After about 5K miles, urethane needs regreasing and almost always leads to squeaking/clunking as the urethane loosens up after a year or two.
IS F (2008-2014) :: Uneven Suspension Feel When Turn Hard Left Vs Right
I have noticed an uneven feel ( slightly ) when I turn hard left vs right. Its firmer when I turn to the left than the right. From the magazine issues I used to read when I look at directional skid pad results the right turn skid pad results are always lower than the left turn because of the weight of the driver.

97 4.0 ext. As the title says the right front pads wear more than the drivers side. Have replaced calipers pads and rotors during recent overhaul. Noticed increased brake dust on wheel on rf front. Could the metering valve under master cyl be the culprit. Abs and brake lights work as normal.
View 4 RepliesTouareg :: 2008 - Low Beam Change From A Different Angle
I have an 08' Touareg and for the life me could not figure out how to get the headlight units out for bulb replacement. I have racked my brain with the instructions that are found on CT, Vortex and wiki. (could not find pictures on what tool everyone is talking about and or where the release nut or screw is.
There is a hex socket located on the light unit but after a lot of turning I found it adjusted my High beam.
They just did not make sense for what I had found under the hood. My tool kit in the back does not have a tool that fits anything remotely on the headlight unit. I also tried removing the air filter housing to get to the back of the light and had no luck without breaking something.
After all turning , twisting, moving and adjusting. I decided to go the route of the wheel well for the passenger side. less than 15 minutes, 4 screws and a retaining nut and I was in with all access to the back of the light unit, changed the lamp and closed it up. As for the drivers side less than 5 minutes and it is all done.
I installed Silverstar Ultra and like how much more light is distributed directly in front of the car. The one lamp that indicated I needed to change (yellowish color compared to the other) actually had a bubble in the side of it as if it was almost melted through.
If there are pictures of how to get the unit out on the 08' I would love to see them, the tool, where and how it gets released.

View 9 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Rear Brake Pads Wearing Too Quickly
My car has about 37k on it; and while the front pads look to be about 50% worn; the rears look like they are closer to 90%. Is this normal? The car is also sluggish while braking especially when the engine is being auto-revved to keep the system voltage up (a known problem). It also seems that the car will step into ABS lock-up mode too soon in a panic stop situation; which might also indicate that the brake system is biasing too much power to the rears; too little to the fronts.
I've never had a car wear the rear brakes more rapidly than the fronts; usually the rears are much more lightly utilized to reduce the tendency to skid. Is there any way to adjust brake bias? I'm getting ready to change rear pads and flush brake fluid.
Passat (B5) :: (2003 1.8T) Rear Brake Pads Wearing Out
What's with the rear brake pads wearing out before the front brake pads. Took my '03 Passat in last week to the dealer for the recall and the service dept. guy said my brake pads were worn out. I took the car to my local mechanic who specializes in VW's. Sure enough, rears were almost gone but fronts still had plenty of meat left on them. Of course I had him replace the rears. But I always thought the fronts wore out first. Could this anomaly be due to ABS?
View 11 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Front Brake Pads Wearing Unevenly
Today as I was adding pressure to my tires I noticed the front brake pads were wearing unevenly. Both outer pads wore the same. More "meat" on the inner section of pads than on the outer, evenly worn, just sort of slanted down as you move out towards the outer rim of the brake disk.
Is this normal? What would cause this? Should I have it looked at? I've never seen anything but even pad wear, perfectly parallel to the brake disk.
Edit for these pictures to clarify.....
Camry :: 2008 - Knocking Sound From Frame When Going Up Ramps At An Angle
What could be the issue with my Camry. Basically when I drive up a ramp with a decent amount of incline and going at an angle, I hear a knocking sound from what seems to be the frame of the car somewhere and I can tell because the interior upholstery makes a sound as if it were shifting. In other words, the sound I heard from the upholstery is the same sound you would hear if you were trying to separate two objects glued together.

I have a weird question about the nice gti steering wheel. I noticed it some times ago on my old 2008 rabbit too and didnt really cared much when I saw that on the steering wheel of the 2010 gti. Did you noticed that the SW angle isnt good from a top view, I means, when u look at it carefully, did you noticed that the SW is more prononced to the right side, it easier to notice it when u look from a top perspective view of the SW. When u use 2-hands on the SW, u can notice that your left-hand is closer of you that the right-hand. Why Volks designed it like that way?
View 3 RepliesCorolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Right Rear Brake Pad Is Wearing Unevenly
On my 2009 Matrix XR (2.4L), my right rear brake pad is wearing unevenly. I'm up to 87000 km (54000 miles). My first pad change was one year ago. I kept the pads and only noticed this time that the wear was at an angle on the outer pad, both times.
The inner pad is ok.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Driver Side Wheel Has Wobble - Wearing Inside Of Tire
I have a 2010 f150 supercrew 4x4 with 8.8 3:55 nls rear differential. my driver side tire has a wobble to it it is wearing the inside of the tire. i have replaced the driver axle shaft with new ford oem shaft put in new axle bearings and seals on both sides and have replaced the spyder gears and i still have the wobble I don't know what is going on. the wobble is more pronounced when the tire and rim are bolted to the shaft only without the drum and caliper attached. with caliper and rotor attached i still have the wobble just not as bad however the tire wobbles going down the road more noticeable between 20-45 mph.
View 13 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Driver Side Seat Wearing Out
Looking for recommendations for a well fitting seat cover for this series of trucks? My driver's side is tearing (12 years of people dragging their rear ends across it will do that) and the foam cushion is starting to lose small pieces. I try to stand on the running board when getting in/out to minimize wear on the seat, but I'm just delaying the inevitable, not preventing it. I bought a set at Autozone, but it's going back because it doesn't fit properly and that makes it look, well, kind of tacky.
I've tried a few local scrap yards, but nobody has a matching seat in my interior color that isn't already wearing out. Autozone or any other retailer just carry universal fit covers, which don't fit well enough to look appealing. My only other option is to have it re-upholstered, but I have a feeling that might be on the spendy side.

Elantra GD (2013+) :: 2014 GT Rear Tires Wear Uneven
My 2014 Elantra Gt bought in May 2014 and 18000km on it now, the rear tires on both side are worn out pretty bad on the outter side of the tire. I took it to one of the dealer. The mechanic said that's not about the alignment, it's because I drove too hard in the corner..... So, I made an appointment with the other dealership which I bought the GT. I was told that it need the alignment and it's not covered by the warranty. I don't mind to pay for it but just want to make sure they will fix it.
I have the KYB on it right now. should I swap it back to the oem before I go to the dealer??
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Uneven Vent Air Flow When Driving?
Last night I was driving to work and had the vent on...I noticed that there wasn't a lot coming out of the left (driver side) vent but a lot coming out of the middle two vents. Thought I would throw this out there in case I may have a blend door issue or something.

Dealer told me needed new control arms as the bearings are wearing out. Was quoted a little over $3k. Doesn't really bother me bc it only makes a clicking noise when I apply brakes hard but concerned about safety issue. Surprised a car like this would need new control arms with only 70k miles on it.
