Camry :: Knocking Sound Occurs As Accelerate
I have a 2007 XLE-V6, bought new 10/2006, 39,500mi., and recently I had the issue of the bursting oil line that others have been having. Prior to that happening, I have been hearing a noise from the engine since the beginning of December. The noise is a ticking sound/knocking sound that occurs as I accelerate in 1,2, and 3rd gear on cold starts. This noise persists up until the time the engine reaches its ideal operating temperature, and then it just goes away.
The engine "expert" at my local dealership drove in it with me, and it only happens when the vehicle is in drive, not when idling or in reverse, so it has to be in the drivetrain somewhere. He said it shouldn't be a problem, since it does go away, but it's infuriating to hear it every morning and afternoon when I start my car.
Camry :: Knocking Sound From Back Side Of 2007 LE
Today I went to my trusted mechanic to find out what is making a knocking sound in the rear on my 07 Camry LE. He told me that this part [URL] ... is loose and I need to replace a rubber piece. I believe this is a stabilizer? I want to try to do this myself. How would I go about fixing this?
View 14 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 - Front Frame Bent - Replace Whole Frame?
Bought a 2013 FX4 two weeks ago to replace my 94 F150 and got to enjoy it for a whole 10 days before I got rear ended at a stop light. The car hit me doing between 30-40, fast enough to make her airbags go off, and it was hard enought to force the bed to hit the cab. Unfortunately, the damage is more than cosmetic body work. The bottom of the bed is pushed up under the bedliner and the frame is bent in front of where the leaf spring connects. My concern is that the adjuster will want to "fix" the frame and I will be stuck with a lifetime of alignment issues, suspension issues, etc. I know the rear of the frame is not as much an issue as if the front was bent, but I don't know how they could fix it without cutting it and welding in a new piece, and how can I know that the frame is true?
View 14 RepliesCamry :: 2007 V6 - Ticking / Knocking Sound When Engine Is Cold
When the engine of my 2007 Camry LE V6 is cold, it makes a ticking/knocking sound. The engine has 100,000 kms on it (60k miles). The frequency of the sound varies with the speed of the engine, not with the speed of the car.
When engine is cold: The sound happens roughly twice a second when the engine idles (at 700-800 rpm).
When engine is warm: The noise is less audible. It can be heard when idled at a stop, but you have to listen for it. The noise cannot be heard on the highway.
The car doesn't burn oil, and the oil level is ok. I had the oil changed 3000 kms ago, and it is still very clean (clear). The was the same before and after the oil change.
I am wondering if it could be the lifters, bad plug, or maybe a timing issue.
Nissan - Altima :: 2008 - Knocking / Grinding Sound When First Shift Into Drive?
My car is a 2008 Nissan Altima 3.5L. It has an automatic cvt transmission. Here's the scenario: I turn my car on and shift into drive. I'll drive for maybe 10 feet and I will hear this strange sound that can only be described as a dull knocking followed by a dull scraping sound. The dull scraping sound will last for about 5 seconds. The sound appears to originate from behind the gas pedal, and I'm think I can feel the gas pedal vibrating very slightly as it is happening. The only condition that makes this sound happen is when I shift from park or reverse into drive. If I start my car and put it in drive it happens. If I'm at a red light go to park then drive, it happens. If I turn my car on, go in reverse, then drive, it happens. However it doesn't happen if I just stop and don't change the gear selector. It's been happening since I bought the car at 56k miles, I'm at 69k now. I haven't seen any decrease in performance, the car runs like a champ.
View 6 RepliesCamry :: 2007 SE - Knocking Sound After Changing Front Brake Pads
Scion TC for Camry SE 2007.
I changed the front brake pads and resurfaced the rotors. After putting everything back together, I took the car to test drive it. The stopping power is fine and there is no squeaking or robbing sounds. However, when I apply the brakes at lower speeds moving forward there is knocking sounds the comes with the tire rotations. What is the reason for this sound?
This is my second time changing the pads and rotors, with the first with no issues. I put grease between the shams and the pads, and I sprayed the rotors with brake cleaner before the installation.
Camry :: 2004 - Knocking Sound Coming From Passenger Rear At Low Speeds
I had to replace 2 tires on my Camry recently and Discount Tire put the new tires in the back and the old tires in the front. After all was done, I drove off and there was a knocking noise coming from the passenger rear.
The front steel wheel was pretty beat up so it was making the steering wheel shake. Discount put that wheel in the back. They had recommended replacing the wheel. I picked up a new one from a pick and pull and its still making the knocking sound.
I went through the car's interior to try and eliminate anything rattling around making the noise. Checked the trunk and there was nothing that I could think it would be.
It knocks at low speeds from 5 mph all the way up to 40 mph. But once I get to 50 and over on the highway the sound goes completely away. The car does not ride rough or shakes when the sound is present.
Touareg :: 2008 - Low Beam Change From A Different Angle
I have an 08' Touareg and for the life me could not figure out how to get the headlight units out for bulb replacement. I have racked my brain with the instructions that are found on CT, Vortex and wiki. (could not find pictures on what tool everyone is talking about and or where the release nut or screw is.
There is a hex socket located on the light unit but after a lot of turning I found it adjusted my High beam.
They just did not make sense for what I had found under the hood. My tool kit in the back does not have a tool that fits anything remotely on the headlight unit. I also tried removing the air filter housing to get to the back of the light and had no luck without breaking something.
After all turning , twisting, moving and adjusting. I decided to go the route of the wheel well for the passenger side. less than 15 minutes, 4 screws and a retaining nut and I was in with all access to the back of the light unit, changed the lamp and closed it up. As for the drivers side less than 5 minutes and it is all done.
I installed Silverstar Ultra and like how much more light is distributed directly in front of the car. The one lamp that indicated I needed to change (yellowish color compared to the other) actually had a bubble in the side of it as if it was almost melted through.
If there are pictures of how to get the unit out on the 08' I would love to see them, the tool, where and how it gets released.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2008 - Knocking Sound Goes Away If Tap The Accelerator
I have had this truck for several years. I have only had a few issues. I've heard of engine noise issues but I have never had any until now. My 5.4 is making a knocking sound that just started. It goes away if I tap the accelerator. It has over 200,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 3000-4000 miles. No additives and always conventional 5-20. Is this a serious issue? I've seen people talk about using thicker oil but I'm very hesitant.
View 13 RepliesIS F (2008-2014) :: Uneven Brake Pad Wearing At An Angle
My friend was looking at my tires earlier today and noticed that my brake pads were wearing at an angle. He was also shocked to learn that these pads have only 6,000 miles on them. We looked at the old front brake pads my mechanic replaced and they are not showing any wear like the current pads.
Below is the old pad that came off the car after 30,000 miles:
This is the pad my mechanic installed on my car, after only 6,000 miles
He also noticed some odd wear on the rotor - evidenced by the vertical lines across it's radius. He thinks it may be related to the problem with the pad. He also recommended a different mechanic... Is this wear considered normal? We looked online and some people reported similar wear, but nothing we found was as extreme as this.
Camry :: 2008 Toyota SE - Knocking Noise In Steering Wheel And Suspension
Just recently purchased a used Toyota Camry , i love it. So far everything is great about it, only negative part is that i feel when i turn the steering wheel like a knocking sensation and you can also hear it. Its not the normal grinding sound other people are experiencing. It feels like theres something loose in the steering column. Also while I am driving i can hear like a thump on the right front suspension. normally this sound when i am going over bumbs. Is this like the shocks or something?
Just in case i have a 2008 Toyota Camry SE.
Golf/GTI VI :: 2008 - Steering Wheel Wrong Top View Angle
I have a weird question about the nice gti steering wheel. I noticed it some times ago on my old 2008 rabbit too and didnt really cared much when I saw that on the steering wheel of the 2010 gti. Did you noticed that the SW angle isnt good from a top view, I means, when u look at it carefully, did you noticed that the SW is more prononced to the right side, it easier to notice it when u look from a top perspective view of the SW. When u use 2-hands on the SW, u can notice that your left-hand is closer of you that the right-hand. Why Volks designed it like that way?

View 3 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Constant Squeaking Sound In Driver Side Window / Door Frame
I bought my 2011 Santa Fe about 6 weeks ago and only have just over 1000km on the odometer. I have an appointment next week to have the dealer look at my car because I hear a lot of noises. First, I hear a constant squeaking sound in the driver's side window/door frame. I think I have this figured out - it's the weather stripping/seal on the door - perhaps the door isn't fitting tightly. I'm not too worried about that sound. I'm also hearing a rattling sound in the rear end, usually when I go over bumps. It sounds like something underneath the car is loose and is banging every time I hit a bump. It's not a loud rattling noise, but enough to be noticed for sure. Also, I've heard a rattling noise on the front passenger's side door somewhere but I can't seem to pinpoint where exactly. Again, it's like something is loose and rattles when I hit a bump. Should I be concerned? I'm a bit nervous because the last car I bought turned out to be a complete lemon and I bought the Santa Fe to rid myself of worry - I haven't been successful with that so far. I have gone through the interior to make sure nothing's loose and rolling around and making the noises, I've repositioned all the seat belt tensioners etc - nothing makes these noises go away.
View 24 RepliesLexus ES 2007-12 :: 2008 ES350 Rattle In Driver Side Window Frame
Would be very interested in any fixes known for an annoying, recurring drivers side window/upper door frame rattle in my 2008 ES 350, occurs when going over bumps, uneven roads, or sometimes with just normal driving. Intermittent, but very common. Have had dealer address this and they replaced the "glass run" on that side, but rattle returned within a few days. Will try some silicon spray to dampen it, but seems like there is some flaw when the window is full up to door frame that produces this ticking rattle- can eliminate it by lowering the window an inch so that it does not insert into door frame.
