Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Code PO302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
I have a 2009 Corolla S 1.8 with a manual transmission and 30,000 miles. About a month ago the check engine light came on throwing a PO302 code (cylinder 2 misfire detected). I reset the check engine light and drove it about a week before the check engine light reappeared again with the PO302 code. I swapped the spark plugs on cylinders 2 and 3 and reset the check engine light, the PO302 soon reappeared. I swapped the coils on cylinders 2 and 4, and reset the check engine light, the PO302 soon reappeared. I swapped the fuel injectors on cylinders 2 and 3, and reset the check engine light, the PO302 soon reappeared.

2000 Jetta GL 2.0 AEG. I am receiving the P0304 which I have identified as Cylinder misfire #4. I read on some previous posts that I cannot be the distributor because if it was I would be receiving misfires on two cylinders. The spark plugs are OEM NGK and have been replaced recently.
View 2 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Cylinder 2 And 3 Misfire - Code P0411
Alright so my car is popping up 4 codes.
P0411 - Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
Vehicle: 1999.5 VW Jetta MK4 2.0L GLS (AEG)
The P0411 code I have had for a while now and I been lacking to fix it. I pretty sure I can get this fixed but it doesn't cause problems so I haven't paid to much attention to it. Anyways, the other day I noticed a puddle of coolant under my car so after checking it out, the water pump was leaking so I bought a new one and replaced the old one. However, during the replacement process I had to remove the timing belt and I accidentally turned the top pulley about 1 notch and didn't notice at the time. After putting everything back on, I turned my car on and the engine sound a bit weak so I ran for about 10 minutes around a couple blocks.
I instantly noticed that the car had no power and it took me a long time to speed up. When I got back, I plugged in my scanner and I only had the same P0411 code and nothing else. After carefully reviewing the camera I had recording during the water pump replacement, I notice I had turned the top pulley a bit so I went ahead and removed the timing belt, readjusted it, and it worked! I was excited that the car was working fine again. Soon after, I headed out to take a drive and noticed after 60MPH the car didn't have much power. The car still accelerates after 60MPH, but extremely slow. As soon as I arrived back home, I plugged in my scanner and that is where I seen the 4 codes. Now my question is what could have caused this? Could I have damaged something when I ran my car with the incorrect timing?
Things I have done so far:
-I checked to see if I left anything unplugged.
-I checked for any vacuum leaks
-I checked my oxygen sensors so see if I was running rich/lean
Things I will do after work today:
-Check the spark plugs
-Check spark plug cable for damage
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2001 1.8T - Cylinder Misfire Code
I recently changed my spark plugs + coil packs in my 01 1.8T because it read a couple cylinder misfire codes. Drove it for a few days out of curiosity plugged the code reader in again and it's still reading misfire codes. What could the issue be still?

View 1 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Catalytic Code / Cylinder 3 Misfire P0303
I own a BMW not a VW! My 19yr old daughter purchased her first car a few months ago, an '03 Jetta 2.0L with approx. 170,xxx miles. Just after she got it we pulled a P0420 code, but it ran fine so we haven't worried too much about it. I've cleared that code and after about 2 weeks it will come back. Last week it started to have some issues with rough idle, stumbling/hesitation. I pulled the codes yesterday an in addition to the catalytic code is a cylinder #3 misfire P0303. I thinking the 2 codes are not related. I'm assuming the typical things to look for on the misfire are coil, wire, plug? Looks like the coil on this engine is a combined unit so no switching coil packs to see if the miss follows a bad coil pack.
View 4 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: CEL On With Camshaft Position Sensor Code And Misfire On Cylinder 3
She is a 1999.5 Golf 2.0 (although, she just has a rabbit symbol on the hatch, is she a Rabbit or did someone remove the Golf badge?) I just bought the car, with less than 160,000 miles. The dome lights work sometimes, Door Ding works intermittently as well, but sometimes will "glitch" in other words it will be making the sound but it kind of stutters? Odd? The horn sometimes works, however it is very silent? Check engine light is on with a camshaft position sensor code and miss on cylinder 3. Someone told me to replace the "109 relay"... could this be the problem or is this the CCM?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Loss Of Power And Hesitation / CEL Code For Misfire On Cylinder 1 And 5
When i got my 2000 jetta vr6 it has a CEL for misfires. Searched this board and google already. Im thinking injectors (havent checked yet) I noticed something weird the other day. At a light i get the CEL flashing. Then after a bit it will come on and stay on. I plugged in my generic reader and deleted the codes. When the CEL is on I get loss of power and hesitation. When its deleted the car runs better. I get my power back. I looked in the coolant tank and see no bubbles. Could this be the ECM? Im still going to get injectors but want to buy the gasket and anything else I am going to need to put it back together. I already cleaned the MAF, replaced some vac lines, coil pack, wires and checked plugs (gapped at .28) ...

View 2 RepliesNissan :: 1989 - Cylinder Misfire CEL Code
1989 Nissan pathfinder. 6cylinder - VG30i - Manual trans - Throttle body injected. No CEL.
I've been trying to diagnose a misfire on my 89 Pathfinder during my lunch breaks. I just changed out the the plugs, dist. cap, dist. rotor and wires. Still misfiring.
When it starts-up the misfire "putt" is random, but once the idle lowers to about 1k it gets very rhythmic and just sounds like part of the idle and the car vibrates a little too much. Stinky exhaust (obviously) but no blue smoke or anything.
Finally bringing the car home to do some diagnosis over the weekend. Next I'm going to do some cylinder compression checks and vacuum checks. Probably check fuel pressure too. Is it odd that I'm not getting a cylinder misfire CEL code? The manual lists the code type.

View 1 RepliesS-10 :: 98 Chevy ODB Error Code P0304 / Cylinder 4 Misfire
I left my chevy s-10 truck sitting over the christmas (23/24/25) and it was really cold outside and when i got back i started getting a P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire). I replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires. May be the cold would cause this to happen? I think I've noticed the trucks fuels efficiency drop over the past month). May be the fuel injector(s)? Is the s-10 TBI or does it have fuel injectors for each cylinder?
View 8 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Intermittent Misfire Cylinder 1 Code
I posted this problem several months ago about a p301 code that my 2007 Prius has been generating. I eliminated all the easy stuff... plug, spark unit, fuel injector. Over the past year since I've had the car, the CEL light has gone on for a couple months then shut itself off for a couple, then back on ... probably has shut itself off 3 times in the past year, each time staying off about a month or two before coming back on. Some background on the car, supposedly the PO hit a rock and damaged the motor about 2 years ago and had the short block replaced.
Anyway, the CEL has been on again for about a month, and I got a notice for Illinois emission testing, so I decided to take it in to the dealer and have him do a diagnostic so I can get the emissions passed. After an hour and a half of testing they told me that the best they could ascertain, the car has been submerged in water, as there is a lot of rust in areas that never get any rust, and they think there's a short somewhere.
The service manager at the dealership said if it was his car he wouldn't spend the money for another 5 hours of trouble shooting, and if the car runs good he'd just drive it as is. They cleared the CEL and the service manager just charged me for an oil change as they caught a recall on the steering that hadn't been done and figured he'd let me slide on the hundred for the diagnostic.
Nissan - Sentra :: Code P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire
It keeps reading the code P0303 "cylinder 3 misfire". All coil packs, fuel injectors, spark plugs have been replaced. The exhuast smells normal. The oil is the correct color(maple syrup color, NOT milky). It's not blowing through coolant. Compression test came back normal. It's not the cat converter because the exhaust doesn't smell like rotten eggs. The car is sometimes hard to start. it hesitates/stumbles and shakes really bad. It feels like its not getting enough power.

View 3 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Code P0306 Came Up - Cylinder 6 Misfire
I have a 2004 Santa Fe with the 3.5. Today I started it and the check engine light came on. It was not on before this. (We had a lot of wind and rain from the storm but nothing major.) And seems to be running fine. I went to the auto parts store and they ran a diagnostic and the Code P0306 came up #6 cylinder misfire. They said probably Spark plug, wire or coil for #6, then went to look up code in computer and did not have my truck so they went with Kia or Domestic, which gave different possibilities for a code P0306.
They had me buy some fuel injector cleaner as injector was on the list. The light is still on so I guess the cleaner was not the magic bullet. I spoke to a lady at another auto parts store who is a wiz when it comes to cars and has been around them and fixing them a really long time. She says the Code P0306 is Spark Plug, wire, coil #6. She has a 4cyl Hyundai car not truck and she had the code for her #4 misfire in the past and she started her repair cheapest first, Plugs, wires her code was still there she then changed the coil and that did the trick for her.
I on the other hand can't do this stuff myself. Can't afford the dealer anymore or to have a shop do a tune up AND coil if I don't need all new plugs and wires just a coil as they will charge a lot to do a lot all. And it may not need it or even be any of those things. I also suspect the dealer and shops will want to still hook up their computers to do an costly diagnostic because the light is on, even though I know the parts store already came up with a code P0306 twice. Spoke to the dealer on the phone and he already basically said they would want to do that first for $100 plus the cost of repair.
I brought the truck new. It now has 91,500 miles on it and the dealer has already done two tuneups on it in that time, Plugs and wires. I hear it probably shouldn't have even needed these tuneups in this amount of millage? So the last one was probably about 2 years ago and a few thousand miles maybe a guess 10,000-20,000 miles ago. Do you think a plug and wire would be bad already in that few miles?
