Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 02 - Clutch Went Out / Shifter Knob Is Super Sloppy
I have my GTi, a week ago I broke an axle. I was then convinced by friends the clutch went out. So I said screw it and bought a Southbend Stage 2 Daily. When I get it I go to install it, then find out I have a Broken half shaft. So after taking the tranny out to install the clutch anyways and everything goes alright for the most part. (250k miles so that's why I never returned new clutch)
SO I get everything together. Tires spins. Car goes all is good.
Clutch is super spongy as I need to bleed it. But my problem is the shifter knob is super sloppy. Feels like is a whole section lower. It's hard to engage second as I have to double tap it in with a good throw. Everything is right on the shift tower. And seems like it clicks right into all the gears. But the physical knob feels super sloppy and out of place. First, third and 5th are all super far up and seems like it double clicks after putting it into gear. Like if there was a gear above. Kinda weird to explain. I've done the home alignment on the tower and nob, but only have a bolt that was 4.71 mm. So the cables should be really close to being aligned right. But I can't grab second at high Rpms.
I also need to do my drain and fill. So would it be a drain and fill and clutch bleeding will fix my sloppy shifter? Before I did everything it was tight. Felt right.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Turn Signal Stalk Doesn't Go Back To Neutral
So my turn signal stalk doesn't go back to neutral after a turn.. also, I don't hear the usually " clicking when turning the wheel that you hear when it goes far enough to re-set itself. What controls this action? Its not the clock spring thing commonly referenced to the airbag airbag is it?

I have a 2015 is350 f sport. I don't know if this is normal, but my shift knob is very loose. I can literally take my thumb and pointer finger and turn it either way with almost any pressure. When I turn it, the leather seems to be attached, and turns with the shifter when I turn it to the right to tighten it.

I have a 2010 Prius no frills model with 5500 miles on it. I've started hearing a noise that sounds like loud burst of radio static. I hear it with the radio off or on. It's very intermittent, but seems to occur only at freeway speeds. Seems to be coming from underneath the shifter or underneath the dash in the same area.
View 2 RepliesSubaru - Legacy :: 1995 LS Not Starting - Knob On The Shifter Won't Go In To Get Out Of Park
Ok. I replace my alternator on my 1995 Subaru Legacy Ls. Everything went great. Last thing I did was to connect the positive cable on the battery. When I did it sparked alittle. Well when I got into the car to start it nothing. Turn the key nothing. The knob on the shifter won't go in to get out of park. Neighbor checked my battery said it was fine. But nothing will come on. Nothing. No lights. I had problems with my ignition before. Do you think my ignition went out? Honestly don't know what to think. Some one told me that these cars have a secondary security system. If it goes on you cannot move the knob on the shifter and when you turn the key on nothing?
View 2 RepliesPrius 2016 (Gen 4) :: 2016 - Shifter Knob Seems To Be Not Illuminated
Loving my 2016 on day one, When I picked the car up last night I noticed that the shifter was not illuminated either by a spotlight like on my wife's 2010, or internally. The knob is a pretty blue plastic that sure looks like it should be illuminated from the inside.
View 19 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Shifter Moving Slightly Side-to-side While In Gear - Shifter Cables Need Adjustment?
I recently changed the bushings and installed SS kit. I don't know if this was the case before, but now while in any gear, i can still move it approx half inch to the right and half inch to the left.
I checked everything and all screws are tight. Could it be that the shifter cables need adjustment?
Silverado :: 91 Unable To Attach Dash Cap?
I have 91 Silverado with cracked dash. I purchased a dash cap from LMC. They said to use silicone to attach, but it doesn't hold in Oklahoma heat. What is best way to get all silicone off. It's a vinyl cap and wasn't sure what I could use to clean and not destroy.

View 2 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Temp Knob Need To Be Rotated To Get Hot Air
I have the base 2011 GTI heating system. In the morning I'll get into the car. Fan is off. Temp is in the middle between blue and red mark. I start the car. Then I turn the temp dial to all the way hot. Then I drive until the car is warmed up fully and turn the fan on. The fan will now blow cold air until I rotate the temp knob back and forth. As soon as I rotate the knob heat starts blasting out within seconds. I can leave it alone the entire 30 minute ride to work and it will never warm up unless I move the temp knob.
AC switch and recycle switch are both off. It has happened with the vents in the defog and normal top vents open positions. Seems like either a faulty knob or software bug to me.
Golf/GTI VI :: Shift Knob Broke Off
The other day the plastic top piece of my shift knob broke off (that had the shift pattern painted on it) and it made me once again want to replace the stock shift knob. I was considering buying one, but other than TWM I can't find any that I really like, so I want to machine one myself. My biggest problem in planning right now is what metal to use, SS is nice but expensive, and how to attach it to the leather and the stick. The only way I can think of attaching it to the stick is with set screws which would be hard to drill.

View 2 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Shift Knob Removal / Reinstall?
I recently purchased my R32 and the previous owner installed a short throw shifter. The knob and aluminum ring look like they are installed correctly but the boot won't stay up next to the aluminum ring. I originally thought that it would just either snap into place or it would need to twist to lock it into place. I've looked at and I can't figure it out. How it is supposed to attach to the aluminum ring?
View 4 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Shift Knob Is Very Hard To Move When Car Is Parked
I am experiencing a very weird issue ... at least in my opinion with my DSG on my 2012 mk6 GTI. I am not sure if this is the DSG "clunk" but when parked uphill/downhill and going from P to R the shift knob is very hard to move. When switching it, it almost sounds like there is some metal grinding. This happens when the car is parked once again uphill/downhill in 99% of the time. There is some very rare instances when the DSG acts the same way when i park it on a leveled street but extremely rare once again. Should I be worried? The DSG has been a great transmission so far, no issues what so ever except VW's flash.
View 10 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Loose Manual Shift Knob / Lateral Rotation?
I have a 2014 GTI 6MT, and am trying to figure out if, when I got the car 3 months ago new, the shift knob was loose, or tight. Right now, I just noticed it has the lateral rotation (left/right) maybe 1/8" or so. Just can't remember when I got it, if I noticed that.
Shift knob had lateral rotation when you got your car, or shortly thereafter?
