Ford Excursion :: Loose Wiring Under Hood
What is this supposed to go to? Found it just flopping around under the hood while we were replacing a fuse.
View 7 RepliesFord Excursion :: 2005 - Steering Loose - Not Stable
New to owning a 2005 Excursion Limited 4WD 6.0 Diesel 140k miles.
When I bought the Excursion I had to drive it about 200 miles back home and it was all over the place. The steering seems real loose and when I hit bumps or a large gust of wind comes along the Excursion is all over the road.
I took it to Ford to get an alignment the next day and they said I need new outer tie rods ends, upper & lower ball joints, front shocks, steering stabilizer, locking hubs.
After that I took it to my mechanic who said I did not really need all that stuff done but if I did it I should be set with the Excursion for a long time. I opted to do all of these suggestions because I will be doing a lot of traveling with my family and wanted the peace of mind that all is well. For shocks I put new front and rear bilstein shocks (nothing fancy, I think they were about $80 each, sales rep said they would provide a firmer ride for towing).
After that I took it to another Tire shop for an alignment, they complimented all the work done and said I just need to get used to the steering after coming from a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I took there word for it and headed on a 2k road trip.
I love the Excursion but once again it was all over the place. It seems worse around 65-70 mph, and I found going around 75-85 it would be a little bit easier of a drive until a Semi Truck would go by or I would get stuck in a lot of traffic or hit a lot of bumps.
At first I had a very firm grip on the wheel but quickly learned that a loose grip at around 4 & 8 o'clock on the wheel was best. I talked to a number of other Excursion owners who said there was very smooth and straight.
The way it drives right now does not seem safe.
Ford Excursion :: 2005 - Passenger Outer Tie Rod Is Shot / Loose And Won't Tighten
Had the Ex inspected and the passenger outer tie rod is shot. It's loose and won't tighten. I was told I needed an outer tie rod. I feel like this is something I can do, but my question is what else should I replace? While I'm in there I might as well replace whatever may also be worn (or wearing). So what all do I need to replace?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2006 F250 XLT - No Power At The Connector Of Under Hood Lamp
I have a 2006 F250 XLT 6.0 diesel. I bought last month to haul my fifth wheel. Looking for the wiring diagram for the "under hood lamp". I have no power at the connector of the under hood lamp. I have checked all the fuses in both locations (battery box and central junction box) and did not find a blown fuse. The under hood lamp is not listed on the the central junction box fuse and relay posting in the owner manual. Is it controlled by something else?
View 2 RepliesAzera TG (2006-11) :: P2068 CEL Code / Loose Connector
Got a CEL in my 06 Azera yesterday. Went to autozone and got two codes
P2068 but I think the gentleman told it was both sensors (I guess A and for the fuel gauge.
He said it could possibly be a loose connector.
My question is: where is this connector located ? And what should I be looking for. I most likely will bring it to a recommended mechanic, but just want to know more about it.
Camry :: Gen 5 V6 - Red Airbag Light On / Loose Connector Under Driver Seat
I recently bought a used '06 Camry V6.
After driving it for several days, the red airbag light went on on the instrument panel. Certainly, I do not want to go to the dealer, not only because of costs, but also cause of the distance of the dealership from my home.
I did a bit of a research and so far have tried disconnecting the ground wire on the batter for half an hour, in order to reset the computer. Although, as soon as I plugged in the wire back and turned the car on, the light did not disappear.
After looking online, I found a similar problem and a solution regarding Toyota Sienna in this link: [URL] ....
-Following the advise, I remember that right before the light went on, I have tried to reach for the plastic water bottle that ended up deep under the driver's seat.
Is it possible that the airbag problem stems from the loose connector under the driver's seat? If yes, how should I approach this.
Also I recently had my intermediate steering shaft replaced [URL] .... Are there chances that such replacement caused the airbag to fail. This manual does not tell any steps to disconnect any yellow wires (or wires at all).
Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2005 XLT - Ignition Coil Connector Wires
I had squirrels eat wires to the front 3 Ignition coil connector on my a 2005 ford escape XLT,my question is the new connectors have a white and black wire and the old ones had a red and a colored wire, but comparing both old and new connectors I notice the new connector has the black wire where the old connector has a red, so do I use the black wire to replace the old Red? , it's rather confusing to me when you plug in the new connector you can see the black wire is where the red wire was on the old one, or does it matter which wire goes where?
View 2 RepliesFord Escape / Hybrid :: 2005 - Replacing Alternator - 3 Pin Connector Clip Broken?
The 3 pin connector that connects to the alternator, I broke the clip. Do the local auto stores sell that connector in a pigtail form so I can just cut the broken one off and solder the new one in? I'm sure someone has broken that clip before.
View 6 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Hood Won't Open / Release Inside The Car Is Loose
I picked up a new CSG GTI, 6speed with Xenon and Bluetooth on Thursday. Yesterday evening when I got home from work I opened the hood to make sure everything was cool I guess. Then this morning I was going to open it again, and the release inside the car is loose, like it's hardly attached to anything.
MKVI? I know it's probably a cable issue, but it sucks to have to drive back 50 miles to the dealer, 2 days after buying it, because the hood won't open.

Golf IV R32 :: Front Suspension Becoming Loose At Mounting Points Under Hood
So I have had my coilovers in for a little less than 2 months now and i have been noticing that my front suspension is becoming loose at the mounting points under hood and needs to be re-tightened periodically. I will say that unfortunately i have to drive in and out of some steep inclines and funny angles where it puts the car into tripod mode regularly. I'm not rubbing anywhere (fenders or bumpers) upon entry or exit but I am very low and really getting every bit of movement out of each corner, lots of creaking and popping (all from front, rears are fine) until tightened then its quiet again, but it all comes back after 3 or 4 days. I haven't tried driving for a week without hitting the steep inclines so I'm not sure if this is even the reason. But its the only thing that i can think of.
View 10 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Hood Won't Close / Loose Release Handle
I've been driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata for about 9 months now and it recently (2 weeks ish) started to not shut its hood. I haven't gotten it officially checked out yet as I'm low in funds and don't want to shell out money where I don't have to. I know it's dangerous to drive around with my car hood open (like an inch which is noticeable). I would shut it before I start driving and when I reach my destination it would be up again. Someone (a random guy who pulled up next to me at a red light and told me he could give me a quote for my hood... and the dent on the side of my passenger door) told me it may be due to a loose hood release handle on the driver side. There was no give when I tried the handle (is this called the latch?) and when this someone tried to loosen the rust on the hood lock itself (is this the latch idk these car terms), it still wouldn't close. It would click but pop right up. It keeps clicking when I close it but doesn't fully close because I could lift it up about an inch and it'd stay that way. He said it may be due to a cable issue with the release handle.
View 2 RepliesSaturn - Sl :: Oil Cap Constantly Vibrates Loose / Smoke Coming Out Of Hood
I've tried replacing it, and while it fits in there nice and snug, within 10-20 minutes it vibrates itself loose again and I have smoke coming out from the hood from the oil spilling out onto the engine. Is there some easily-removable caulk I can fasten the oil cap in with? (so that when I need to fill it with oil I can still get to it, natch).

View 14 RepliesFord Excursion :: Steering Loose After New Tires And Alignment
My Excursion only has 74000 miles and I just replaced the original shocks with Monroe Reflex and combined with my Goodyear Silent Armor tires was running beautifully. Then after a "deal" from Ford, I replaced the Goodyears with LTX-MS2's and had the alignment checked since my Goodyears did have a little cupping after 45000 miles. They also checked all the front end components and said that everything was in good shape! Upon driving it home, the Excursion steering was extremely loose and I was ready to return the tires and get new Silent Armors, but I figured that there probably was something screwy with the alignment that they just did. So I brought it back, test drove it with the tech at 75 mph and he decided he needed to recheck the alignment. After the realignment, it drove beautifully, but after reading the posts on various forums regarding the proper toe-in on the front, I am questioning whether the alignment is set properly?
After the 1st alignment (in degrees):
LF Camber .3; Caster 3.0; Toe .01
RF Camber -.2; Caster 3.2; Toe -.03
Total Toe -.03; Steer Ahead .02
LR Camber .1; Toe .12
RR Camber -.03; Toe .16
Total Toe .27; Thrust Angle -.02
After the Realignment (in degrees):
LF Camber .3; Caster 3.0; Toe -.03
RF Camber -.2; Caster 3.2; Toe -.04
Total Toe -.07; Steer Ahead 0.00
LR Camber .1; Toe .13
RR Camber -.3; Toe .18
Total Toe .31; Thrust Angle -.03

So in order to get my hood to open, I have to pull the hood release lever in the cab, go pull up on the hood itself, then pull the release lever again, and pull on the hood to get it to finally pop. Is this a cable perhaps going bad? Or another issue I need to fix?
View 14 RepliesFord Excursion :: Big Click And Truck Went All Dead - Loose Battery Connection
My husband was kindly pulling the Ex into the garage for me. I drove it around town today. He came in and He said he pulled it in and turned it off. Then went back to turn it on to pull it in a little farther. When he tried to restart it there was a big "CLICK" and it went all dead. He said the theft light briefly flashed after everything else went dead. Also, aux power such as cig lighters still work. Could it be a fuse?

View 3 RepliesFord Excursion :: Screech / Squeal Coming From Under The Hood While Driving
On the way home tonight, the Ex started to make what I can best describe as a screech/squeal. It sounds a little bit like a pulley spinning against a stuck belt or a motor that ran out of grease. I heard it 4 times and it lasted about a second or 2 each time. It seems to be coming from under the hood. The only common variable between all of the occurrences is a speed between 5 - 20 mph.
Belt has been replaced recently, when I looked under the hood all pulleys were spinning normally. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's the re-manufactured power steering pump that I put in after the redhead box install or the a/c compressor. When the compressor is running it makes a ticking noise. Maybe it's finally done and the screech is it starting to spin up when it engages the pulley?
