Ford Excursion :: Removing Wires From Under Hood Fuse / Relay Box
Well, it's starting to look like I may have to build my underhood harness from bits of multiple harnesses. I found a 2000 Excursion harness, but the engine plugs and wires were hacked off during engine removal.
After in-depth study of wire diagrams, it looks like I can just get a pickup harness and combine it with the aforementioned damaged Excursion harness to get what I need- and do it for about 50 bucks.
I also notice that there are a few Ebay sellers who just sell the fuse/relay box with the wiring harness hacked off of it. So my question is- how do you remove the wires (including the terminal ends) from the fuse/relay box? I've fiddled around with my burned up parts and can't seem to figure it out.
Ford Excursion :: Wiring Diagram For Trailer Wires From Fuse To Plug
My park lamp circuit is dead. I have tested with a multi-meter and there IS power at the fuse. However, no power at the plug. I have pulled the bumper and found the plug for both the rear taillights (the park lamp circuit WORKS in the taillights) and the trailer wires. Confirmed it is dead there as well.
Both bundles go into the frame rail at the fuel tank, but I not sure which is which where it comes out at the firewall. A web search did not reveal a diagram and the Ford repair CD I have does not list Excursion diagrams.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Random Whistle And High Pitched Squeal Coming From Somewhere Under The Hood
My truck started making this whistling sound a few thousand miles ago. Its a high pitched squeal coming from somewhere under the hood. There doesn't seem to be any pattern or certain time when it does it. Ive read on here about an alternator problem on these trucks. Or could it be my S&B intake?

I have a 2006 Camry LE 4 cyl. that developed a light, random (metal sounding) rattling noise under the hood, near engine on passenger side. It's present/noticable at idle and slow speed.
Car runs great otherwise and great gas mileage, pushing around 100k on odometer. Out of town with car otherwise would have looked at. Could something just be loose? Something in air filter? GF drove it down to FL and was fine before she left.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: How To Open Car Or Hood Manually When Battery Is Completely Dead
I have been out of the country for the past 3 months and I left my car at my parents place. I have a 2011 Sonata SE with Nav. I got a call from my dad saying that my car is dead (battery) and the doors have locked. He previously was able to jump the car since he was able to open the doors with the key fob remote. Now the doors will not open. I assume the battery has died beyond where the key fob can open them. I return back home this week and would like to be able to deal with this headache before I return and come back to a working car. How to get into the car or at least popping the hood without being able to get in the car? I've read up about other cars having a backup battery or special mechanism on the door handle for these situations so I would think Hyundai thought this through...
View 35 RepliesSubaru - Forester :: Stopped Dead / Odd Burning Smell When Opened The Hood
While waiting at a stop light my car totally died, there were no warning lights, the car is a 2011 Subaru forester with 52,000 km. I had it pushed off the road, tried to restart it with jump cables but it would not turn over. I noticed an odd burning smell when I opened the hood. There were rat tracks on top of the engine area. I had the battery pulled out and replaced with another fully charged but it did not make a difference.
After sitting for two days, I restarted the car and the engine managed to turn over but very very rough, a mechanic thought there was something loose in the engine. I currently live in Mexico and closest subaru dealership is 5 hours away. I will need to get it towed there but I would like to have some idea of what it may be, my thought is somehow a wire got chewed off but I had driven it about 20 miles that morning and then it just stopped dead.
Ford Excursion :: V10 - Random Stalling - Not Getting Fuel When Cranked
I've been researching the issue here on FTE, and this past weekend replaced the IAC Valve. I also cleaned the MAF.
Symptoms are random stalling. Before today, it was only at idle. Today it did while under power. It stalled three times before I had it towed home.
It starts up fine, but after stalling it did seem like it wasn't getting fuel when I cranked it a few times. But, then it was good. It still starts fine, and idles fine.
When a pump goes on one of these, do they act up first, or they simply stop working?
This issue has taken place over the past several months, but seems to have come to a head today.
Last resort is changing out the filter before I take it in.?
Ford Excursion :: 7.3 Skips When Driving At Random Completely
My 7.3 skips when driving, completely random, but it did skip many times in a row when driving over a bridge, moisture seem to be the culprit somehow. I have replaced CPS, UVCH, Glow Plug, Glow plug relay. I have not replaced the harness from outside the valve cover to the CPU that controls them. Its a 200.000km truck (125.000) miles, that has been well kept and seen little towing in its life. How did you fix your 7.3 from skipping? When it was not a CPS?

While driving down the highway yesterday at about 65mph I went to change lanes. As I was changing lanes I gave it a little gas. About half way through the lane change truck jerked like I had just been rear ended. I immediately checked my mirrors to see if I changed lanes in front of some body. No one was around. Truck still ran the same. Everything I'be read seems like similar thing happen to others at slower speed.
Ford Excursion :: Batteries Are Dead?
You can see in my sig that my Ex is an '03 w/ a 7.3L. In the last couple of months I have been having a problem with her. Someone goes to start her and there is not enough power. The batteries are dead. We get out the cables, connect her to a power source, let the source build up some power, and she starts up. Then she runs well for days. Starts regularly. Like nothing ever was wrong. Then, suddenly, low battery power, not enough to start her.
Power source, let it charge the batteries some, turn the key, starts right up. Runs great for days. Suddenly.... It's like the movie "Groundhog Day".Since the batteries are only 3 years old I am thinking they are okay. They work day after day. The alternator must be working, Right? She runs well once started. The alternator charges the batteries so she works well for days. The alternator is only two years old.

I am a proud new owner of a 2000 X 6.8l 2wd with the 4.3 rear end .
I have had the truck for 2 weeks now . When I bought her , she ran a little rough but I expected as much after sitting for 6 months ... After driving her home I began to start a massive tune up , because she was acting like there was a miss ... The miss only started after she was at normal operating temp and at first only when at cruising speeds in overdrive on the freeway , it progressively got worse ... The miss became all the time once up to normal operating temp but will do it wether she is in any gear or even park .... Oh and the miss is NEVER at the same time it is always completely random ...
I have changed all 10 coils , all 10 plugs , the PVC valve , and I am changing the fuel filter this afternoon ... Other then that I think I can hear a vacuum leak , but I have tried spraying carburetor cleaner around the engine bay as instructed by a " ford expert " at the local auto parts store and I did not notice any change ... After I install the new fuel filter I am going to fill her full of 93 octane and add a bottle or 2 for Lucas octane boost as well as the Lucas injector cleaner ...
Other then these things I am at a complete loss ! This is my first v10 ford so I am a little at a loss ... Now if this was my wife's BMW 760 or my Lexus IS 300 I would not be having this problem.
Ford Excursion :: 2000 V10 - Battery Went Dead
Rookie move. The battery went dead on the excursion so I nabbed one out of my Focus so I could just move the beast to another parking spot. Long story short, the battery's design was exactly the same, aside from the polarity on the posts. I didn't check and now I'm not getting a response from the vehicle at all. No lights, no clicks, nothing.
I'm assuming I blew a fuse, and possibly fried the PCM. Where to start? I'm not sure which fuse I'm looking for, as none of the diagrams have a "main fuse" listed.
The details: 2000 Excursion, V10 6.8.

I am now getting a random 'whirring' or 'squealing' noise from the front. When it starts, I feel some vibration in the steering wheel and floorboard and for sure can hear it. Starts on it own at random, sometimes when I hit a bump in the road. Stops at random, sometimes when hitting a bump in the road. Lasts for different lengths of time. Always stops when coming to a stop at about ~15 mph. Seems to change pitch ever so slightly if turning when it is 'whirring' or 'squealing'.
