Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2005 F350 Steering Not Returning To Center On Lefts - Sometimes Loses Power Assist
I've got a 2005 F350 that i recently did balljoints, tierods and shocks/stabilizer on. Just stating that because i don't believe anything could be binding up to cause this.
If i am to take a left turn, more than 45 degrees, the truck will seem to lose power assist on the return to center and be very stiff when i return it by force until i jerk the wheel past center and let it come back the other direction and it seems to regain power assist.
Also, the steering is just generally bump. I have not driven a better condition 2005 to tell the difference but i'm sure this isn't the way it's supposed to be
I am not having any issue with braking force, as of yet. The first winter i got the truck i blew a power steering line that goes from the gear to the cooler, in which direction i don't know. It's been a year and a half since then so not sure that caused any failure.
Before this symptom the pump would whine when on left turns only, no problem turning right if i feel like doing right turns the rest of my days. I guess what i'm getting at is, does this sound like a bad pump? Bad gear? Both?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 - At Start Up No Acceleration?
First of all, I have 2004 f-350 92K miles with a stock 6.0 - EGR deletes and new oil cooler is the only updates.
Two weeks ago I had an issue pop up. When I tried to start from a dead stop there was no acceleration, it would idle ok but when i pressed on the peddle NOTHING! I called the local diesel guru, he recommended I change the fuel filters. After I did this there was a tremendous improvement in performance.
After a few days of normal driving, I noticed a subtle reduction in throttle response. Today I noticed a slight lag when accelerating which lasted about 3 miles until there is once again no acceleration. It will start normally and idle is a little rough, but will not accelerate even in park the engine is extremely slow to accelerate.
Touareg :: V-10 2004 Mysteriously Loses Electrical Power - AMP Gauge Reads 0
Weird thing occasionally happens with my 2004 v-10 treg, every once in a while upon trying to turn on my turn indicator I notice that its not working... then i see that my dash lites are dimmer than usual, then i notice my amp gauge reads "O".... But once i stop and turn it off [sometimes repeatedly] the amp gauge reads back up to where it normally is at 14.
The first time this happened it was on the freeway and i drove 30 miles thinking it was gonna die before I got home. Once I got home and turned it off and restarted it, and it was fine. This all happens without an error message? I should also mention my keyless entry works now only a fraction of the time? What this could be? I got 160,000 miles on this very well maintained treg.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 F350 - Severe Shudder While Under Acceleration
I bought my f 350 new from the dealer and have had many of the problems associated with this truck. Now I have a severe shudder while under acceleration when i either let off the gas or increase speed the shudder goes away. My dealer thinks it is injectors but I have little faith. Shudder seems to be rpm consistent and seems to be in the front end. oh yea it idles great and runs great except at that specific range.

I have a 2004 f350 6.0 it has 73000 miles on it. I've had the truck for about a month and its developed a slight stumble, hesitation. It does it during idle and acceleration, if I give it more throttle it smooths out. The cel is not on and there are no stored codes. It did this a few days after i bought it,i noticed the map sensor was broke in half so i replaced that and it smoothed out.But it came back. Exhaust is clean no white or black smoke at all.
View 11 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 F350 - Low FICM Voltage Under Acceleration?
Pulled the trigger today and bought a 2004 F350 DRW King Ranch with 200000 miles. Using Forscan Lite on my iPhone, KOEO FICM voltage was right at 48. During start it went up a bit. While out for my highway road test for EOT/ECT differential (never went above 10 degrees).
I noticed that the FICM voltage would drop to the bottom of the Forscan scale (40 volts) when I was accelerating and then go back to 47.5 when I reached my cruising speed. Is this normal?
Batteries are brand new from Ford. I didn't notice the battery voltage. Truck seems to run great to me, but this is my first 6.0. I also got DTC's for all 8 injectors saying Injector Circuit Low.
Prius (2004-09) :: Loses Power In Heat - Sluggish Acceleration
I have a 2004 Prius, ~150k miles. At about 80k I replaced the inverter coolant pump as a preventative measure.
Recently, the car has shown an intermittent lack of power, and abnormally sluggish acceleration, which seems similar to what I've heard about the failsafe mode of an overheating inverter, except no warning lights appear. We have had some hot days this summer in SLC, Utah (100+ deg). It's a sporatic issue that seems much worse on hot days. The weather has been hot, but we've had hot days in past years and not had this problem.
Yesterday, the car showed the worst ever such behavior and was nearly crippled for my wife (why do these things always happen when the wife is driving alone?). She was returning home from a ~ 1hr appointment, where the car was parked in the sun, ambient air temp was ~103 deg. The car was very sluggish and ICE was revving much higher than normal. The battery fan that vents next to the rear passenger-side door was running at the higher speed than she's ever heard it before. I asked her at the time about the battery level, and the display showed two bars, even though she was going mostly downhill. A/C seemed to be working, but she turned it off. She was able to limp home. It did seem that when the battery charged a bit, performance improved somewhat.
After I got home a few hours later that evening, (temp ~90-95 deg), I took it for a spin and it seemed fine. I'm pretty sure I detected a slight hiccup in power one of the times I punched it, but nothing drastic. She drove it this morning (84 deg ambient, ~75 deg overnight low) and it seemed normal, except that she could hear the battery fan (we almost never hear it running), but it was much slower than yesterday.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 F350 - Poor Acceleration When Engine Is At Operating Temp
I have a 04 f350 6.0 with about 195xxx miles on it. The other day my truck started acting up. It starts and idles without a problem and drives fine till the engine gets to operating temp once there I cannot accelerate quickly like getting onto the highway to get up to speed it just the motor just goes quiet and won't accelerate. It usually does this a little after 2000 rpm. I can let off the throttle and slowly get to speed as long as I don't go past 2000 rpm. No check engine light was not on scanned it and got p0611 for the ficm. I tested the ficm and it read 48v with key on. While truck was running I got 46.xx v then Started to climb to almost 48v. The truck was warm but not at operating temp where the problems starts(didn't have time to let it warm up all the way) could these symptoms be the ficm still? What else should I test?
View 5 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Boost / Low Power And Horrible Acceleration
I have an issue with my 6.0. I was running the extreme street tune from IDP for the past 2 years now and recently purchased the xtreme X tune from IDP. I loaded in the tune and had low boost, low power and horrible acceleration. Max boost i would see is about 10psi and it would take about a solid minute to reach highway speed when merging on the highway. I went back to the stock factory tune and have the same issue. No boost leaks from the boots or pipes and no check engine light. What is going on?
View 2 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 - Loss Of Power - No Boost On Acceleration - Vibrates?
I have an 03 6.0 Power stroke. My problem all started the other day when I started to occasionally not get any boost on acceleration and lose of power and a lot of vibration like it's about to cut out but it got worse now today I drove it about 5 miles into town when I got to town I noticed a rough idle I got gas in a gas can not in the truck. I got back in to leave and I had absolutely no power at all the truck stalled out and it was very hard to start finally got it started and it runs really rough almost like it's going to shut off.
So when I started driving I would only make it about a mile or so with out it chocking out and having to let it site for a minute or two and start it back up and go another mile or 2 and have it do the same thing all the way home all the time I have vary little boost if any at all except for when I first pull out now oil pressure is good and engine never over heated some of the codes I have is an EGR code and a contribution balance code for several cylinders I was thinking possibly a maf sensor or a clogged egr not working right.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Rough On Cold Startup - Surge / Lack Of Power During Light Acceleration
My 2007 6.0 has a really rough (almost 'miss') during cold start up. After 5 seconds or so, it smooths back out and sounds normal. Until gauge reaches normal operating temp - there is a surge/lack of power during light acceleration. I also hear a frequent compressor coming on and running for a while which I am contributing to a possible vacuum leak. Maintenance is always done on time and I've already had a few costly repairs (both internally as well as externally) on the engine. I usually always wait for the glow-plug indicator to turn off before cranking the engine and let it idle for 5-10 minutes prior to driving it. Once the vehicle climbs to normal temp. everything seems to be fine but the compressor still comes back on every so often.IS it worth simply replacing the vacuum canister located behind the passenger side battery - or should I find someone to hook up a diagnostic unit first?

I have a 1999 Ford F450 Tow truck with a 7.3 turbo. It loses power and misses when I give it gas but when driving normal speed no problems.
I had a ford technician look at problem with a computer and he said number 8 injector . Today number 8 was changed.
Test drove it same problem. I also changed th fuel filter. And I emptied the tank to make sure No water
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 1994 F250 Missing Under Load / Loses Power
1994 f250 7.3 turbo problem.. runs great on the level.. Cruises 65 no problem.. We have an 8% grade coming from town and half way up it starts cutting out and sounds like a jack brake under the hood and loses power.. Once over the top it clears out and runs fine again.... I just changed the fuel filters but no luck... I have been wrenching on cars all my life but no diesels..
View 6 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 F550 Loses Power And Will Die After Driving Less Than A Quarter Mile
The last couple of days with the temps in the 50's, my 2000 F550 with a 7.3, will start normally and idle fine. When I try to drive it, I get less than a quarter mile and it just looses power and will die.
If I flutter the pedal, sometimes it will keep running, very poorly. And when it does this, it is putting out blue smoke. After it does this, it will run fine. Just like nothing is wrong.
What do I look for, or is this normal. I have had the truck since last October and this is the first time it has acted like this.
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: White Smoke Blowing / Smells Like Fuel And Loses All Power
I am a mechanic and tow operator running a late 99 f350 7.3 6 speed cab and chassis wrecker. This truck has had a hard life and has been neglected for quite some time, and now has become my baby/headache. Truck starts great, idles nice, and will run great for about 5 minutes until it starts billowing white smoke that smells like fuel and loses all power. If you continue to drive it it will die. Sounds like it's dropping cylinders and will barely idle. If you stop for 5 minutes or so and let it idle it will smooth back out and will run great again for another minute or two, then right back to stumbling.
Using torque app, hpop pressure looks good when it's running well. Peaks at 3k, IPR maintaining 30-40% max. As soon as it stumbles you can see the hpop drop to 5-600 and the IPR will climb to 65%. Let it idea bit and they go back to normal, and stay good until it stumbles again.
Ive changed the fuel pump, ICP,rebuilt FPR, change fuel filter, pulled and cleaned the fuel tank (metal tank, no delamination, looks perfect inside). Pickup screen looked good. Cleaned the IPR, cleaned the hpop reservoir, there was no screen inside. Checked voltage at fuel pump, 11.78 across the pump with it running. Pulled valve covers, no noticeable leaks around injectors. Injectors have less than 5k miles. Remans with 100% larger tips.
To me it seems like the lpop is not keeping up with the hpop under load, starving it until you idle and let it catch up. Could it still be bad injector orings? Bad lpop? Something I'm not thinking of?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Lost Full Electrical Systems?
I have a 2003 F350 Super Duty 6.0L Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 signal rear wheels Ford tow package. After market options Bully dog power put and outlook controller.
Next the problems When they started and order pleas stay with me.
I purchased a goose neck horse trailer and after hooking it up, plugin in the tight and break round plug I found that the trailer lights did not work. I inspected the plug on my truck I found that the wires were cut next to the plug so I purchased a after market plug and swapped the two out and the lights worked. Excepted the right turn signal did not work.
I thought I was good and then the problems started during the six hour trip home at night my turn lights and break lights ceased to work on my truck and trailer the running lights and head lights work on both. After I returned home I looked for shorts and bad fuses I never found any.
After that I started to accumulate problems.
The Outlook controller would occasionally loose signal and turn off and on and the door ajar is on all the time. After that the I had the oil filter fail and pieces of it went through the IPR screen causing the IPR to fail I know its unrelated but it is. After having a no start condition and replacing the IPR all my gauges would go peg to peg when trying to start. I put a long hard charge on the batteries and got them to a full charge of 12.6CV and had no problem starting any more. I did find at the time I hooked up the charger is that one of the batteries blew off one of the cell covers.
But what happened next.
The truck lost full electrical systems as in the 4x4 switch quit working, the power locks quit working, door chimes quit, the transmission would not shift into overdrive and the tow light flash and now the Outlook Controller flashes on and off so bad I can hardly get the codes off it. The auto headlight quit.
Most of the things I could reset by un plugging fuses and relays to get them to work.
OK the now, I changed the batteries today with new ones and found out the old ones were only at 75% and that fixed some of the problems. The problems I still have is the transmission, turn signals, break lights and Outlook flashing on and off. By the way the Outlook is plugged in the systems plug under the dash.
These are my codes
P0360 ignition coil j primary (I do not know what this is or where I can find it.)
P0401 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient (Is this the EGR cooler I did a EGR Delete by puting freeze plugs in both ends)
P0603 Powertrain Control Module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error ( I have no clue about this, this started when I lost the IPR durring all that cranking.)
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Loud Electrical Pop With Air Compressor Relay
Every time my air compressor would shut off I got a loud annoying pop through the radio. Even if the radio was off I would still get the pop. I knew it couldn't be good for all the electronics in the truck so I tried a mod.
Diodes across the relay signal terminals need to be installed in performance carts to protect the electronics. I put one of these diodes on my truck this week. 100% of the pop is gone.
I used this one : ACC-KIT-CSD-1

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: CEL Regarding TCM - Losing Communication With Rest Of Electrical System
I own a 2011 f350 diesel. So 2 weekends ago when it iced over in DFW I ended up doing a bunch of driving in 4wd. I pulled out a couple people, even pull out a semi.
After this the truck went on the fritz and gave me a CEL regarding the tcm losing communication with the rest of the electrical system. The truck was stuck in 6th gear and all things related to the tcm gear indicator didn't work. (remote start, backup camera, traction control, stability control and trans temp gauge). I did have drivability issues with the trans when it would sometimes bang gears when i would get on it suddenly and it could get generally confused at times, so generally I drove it pretty gently. The truck had to be towed to the dealer because after a while it would only get neutral of 1st gear and obviously it shouldnt be driven like that. They replaced the tcm under warranty.
The kicker is that all of that trans bs is now gone, there's no more confusion and gear banging.. drivability improved 10 fold. Obviously they updated the software but i was wondering if that was all that was needed to get this trans in gear? (pun intended) maybe they did something else?
