GERD (acid Reflux) :: Nausea, Vomiting, Burning In My Stomach

I'm 20 years old and been dealing with really bad acid reflux for about 6 years now. For about a year now i've been on the depo provera shot which has seemed to slow down my flare ups. When this all started i would get sick every time i started my period for me in the morning as soon as i get up. Since the depo shot i've been getting sick every three months right before my next shot. These flare up usually lasted about a week and a half at most(which really sucks cuz it affects my life in every way imaginable). My symptoms when im sick is usually nausea, vomiting, burning in my stomach, burning in my throat, fatigue, sharp lower pains, and sometimes it gets so bad because i'm scared to get sick i have panic attacks. When i was 14 doctors found an ulcer cover 90% of my stomach. That was seen doing a endoscopy. I was still having issues shortly after leaving the hospital, so talked with my doctor and had a laparoscopy scheduled. Did that and they found i had built up scar tissue on my female parts cant remember every detail as its been a long time ago and i'm always sick when they finally want to try something. So anyways they also found a cyst near my belly button. It seemed as if their findings was not a big deal. So down the road still getting sick i had my appendix removed, and that didn't change a thing. I've had numerous ultra sounds, x rays, blood test, cat scans and i'm probably forgetting more. I'm just hoping someone will have a possible answer since i been too more doctor i can count on both my hands and toes and that haven't a clue.. Just to put it out there i am not a liquor drinker, i smoke cigarettes and marijuana. I also do not drink caffeine anymore for the past 3 years basically. !

GERD (Acid Reflux) :: Damage From Stomach Acid But Never Feel Pain?

Okay, I am going to have to ask many questions because trying to fit them all in one post is going to be way too wordy.

I have a question that has been bothering me a lot lately:

Is it possible to have damage from stomach acid but never feel pain, have no symptoms and have no feedback from your body to let you know something is wrong?

I apparently have damage, but these are my symptoms.

No = Never had symptom B4

Yes = Have symptom

PRILOSEC = Only RECENTLY got symptom since starting Prilosec (Been off it for a couple days)

Heartburn: No

Bad Breath: No

Sore Throat: No

Lump in Throat: No (PRILOSEC)

Hoarseness: No

Bloating: No (PRILOSEC)

Stomach Pains: No (PRILOSEC, feels like what I imagine a mini labor contraction would feel like)

Gas: No (PRILOSEC)

Bitter Taste: No

Cough: No

Asthma: No

Nausea: No

Trouble Swallowing Food: Yes

- Feels like SOME foods (It's always the same food) get "stuck" somewhere between my throat and my stomach.

- It hurts.

- I salivate a LOT. (Maybe enough to fill 3/4 of a cup)

- Drinking water makes it WORSE as it just rises the food contents closer to my throat.

- Going into a dark, quiet room and focusing hard on relaxing, calming thoughts usually makes the food go down (Stress, loud noise, bright lights seem to make it worse, sometimes creates hiccups)

- Sometimes this doesn't work though, and I have to forcibly vomit the food back up because it simply will not go down

- Can stay in the "stuck" position for 10-15 minutes

- Feels like a muscle is way too tight and won't let the food pass, and I can almost FEEL it when it relaxes. Breath of relief.

- Gets better as I eat the food, not worse. (It's almost like the muscle is getting used to relaxing or something.)

- Taking Prilosec has not helped (Been taking it for 2 months)

Does this sound like a GERD type of swallowing issue? Because I was just browsing around the forums, looking at this topic and I noticed a few things:

- Every post seems to be talking about problems with the throat, not the area between the throat and the stomach

- Many people are saying that water helps them, while water makes it worse for me

- Many people are saying that they have that lump alongside this swallowing issue. I have had the swallowing issue for a while, but have only recently (since starting Prilosec) felt a lump.

- Many people are saying they have to "push" food. The food has easily already gotten past my throat no issues, my issue is that it just hangs somewhere between my throat and my stomach. I couldn't push it even if I wanted to, because that area doesn't have any voluntary movement.

- Many people are saying they have trouble swallowing saliva. I have never had that issue.

Mucus: Yes/No (Sometimes get it, thickness varies, not really been a real problem for me, so 50/50 on this one.)

Opiate (percocet) Withdrawal :: Vomiting, Diarrhea / Stomach Flu?

My husband has been taking 5mg Percocet (3-4 daily) for about a year and a half for chronic back pain. He has never abused them. He is tired of taking them and decided to wean himself.  He bought an inversion table and wanted to try a more holistic approach to helping his back pain. He started taking 2 percocets on Sunday, then dropped down to 1 on Monday morning. About 4 hours after taking his pill on Monday, he started vomiting. He also had hot flashes, body aches and intense nausea. He feels like he has the stomach flu. He threw up about ten times on Monday. By Monday night the vomiting had stopped but he started with diarrhea. The diarrhea lasted through the entire day/night on Tuesday. He felt a little better by Tuesday night, but again this morning (Wednesday) he began vomiting again. He isn't sure if this is opiate withdrawal or the stomach flu. He has also been under a lot of stress at work and thinks this is a combination of the stomach bug and stress, but I am afraid it's opiate withdrawal. Has anyone been through this? Does it sound like a stomach bug or opiate withdrawal? Any tips on how to ease his discomfort?

Reflux Oesophagitis :: Low Stomach Acid And HCl

I've been having issues with burping and bloating after eating. I tried the baking soda test to confirm low stomach acid, so I started supplementing with Betaine HCl. I had one pill with one digestive enzyme supplement at breakfast which was rice flake porridge with banana, ground sesame and ground sunflower seeds (I'm vegetarian and don't eat dairy either). I didn't have too much burping or bloating initially. Then at lunch time I did the same thing (one hcl one digestive enzyme), lunch was vegetables, rice noodles and tempeh. I experienced lots of bloating and upper stomach pains and a sort of tight feeling in my throat. These symptoms gradually have gotten worse throughout the day. Did I not have enough protein at lunch? Or are my digestive issues not related to low stomach acid?

Allergies :: Post Nasal Drip Connection With Stomach Acid

I researched the PND and stomach problems connection. I am trying to figure things out as I have an upset stomach for 1 month now, and I think it might be related to my PND condition.

I can not even remember the time I have PND, I just did not know how it is called. I always sucked mucus in my mouth from "somewhere", and did not know it is coming from the nose/sinuses. I am allergic to a lot of things, not just in the air but foods too. From the PND - at least I guess - I have tonsil stones and one enlarged tonsil at the right side. Left is quite ok.

I have not had any serious or long lasting stomach problem until now. For 1 months time I am feeling a gradually stronger pain under my left rib, which is actually also in the back. Not to talk about the bloating I feel. I was at my Doc, he said it is ok, just take a plill to lower acid. Although, I like to look after and research things, and read that too low stomach acid can cause indigestion, which causes bloating. I would not take that pill, I am looking for a deeper solution.

The question is - can PND cause low stomach acid? My theory is that this mucus which is landing in my stomach (when I can not spit it out) inhibits stomach to produce enough stomach acid, leaving food undigested and also vitamins unabsorbed. So the whole system is not functioning as it should and sooner or later (looks like later is now arrived) it will cause an ulcer or who knows what. (And also, in case of this, killing HP bacteria would not mean any solution as I read, but it is another question.)

I am trying the neti pot tomorrow, and hoping for a solution that it will lower the amount of mucus dripping down at the back, and so it should help my stomach.

What do you think? Am I on a very wrong way, or can there be something in what I am trying to say?

Vitamin D And Zinc Deficiency Due To PPIs (causing Low Stomach Acid)

I have been on Protonix (proton pump inhibitor) for well over 25 yrs. Four years ago I developed constant diarrhea that was later diagnosed as gallbladder problems and had it removed per Dr's orders. The diarrhea continued afterwards though and the Dr said it was now IBS-D. It just seems like they are guessing as I go along here. I did some research and found that constant use of PPI's can cause LOW acid in the stomach and therefore increasing malabsorption of vitamins and minerals, also causing severe diarrhea. I believe this has been my problem all along considering I was just found to be deficient in Zinc & D. Diarrhea, hair falling out, uncontrolled blood sugars and now hypothyroidism are my symptoms. I have so many questions. Has anyone had this problem with PPI's? Has anyone tried to stop? I know it's very hard to do. I'm told having low acid in the gut, even though you supplement, doesn't work to increase your minerals/vitamins. Just looking for answers and feeling like crap.

Lansoprazole :: Chest Burns

Well I was given this medication as a result of a number of symptoms, like stomach cramps, heartburn, indigestion, and my chest muscles, rib cage all ached, a week prior I couldn't use the toilet, but that seemed to have went, and after I was given these tabs for the other symptoms.

I have been on them for a week and a bit more, and I didn't take them today because the aches from my left leg and arm was too much, I ain't been able to sleep properly, right now I've got a headache, and my leg and arm have been weak for like a week now, I wanna believe its a result from the tablets but prior to being on the medication, I felt a sort of sensation in that side of my body b4 I actually took the tablets, however it has become more achy, and my neck and upper back also have began to ache.

The doc prescribed me these tabs on the basis I did say I had chest burns, and it very well could be the acid which triggered it all. However I'm a female and 19, ain't had no illness like this before, but I'd really just prefer to cure my symptoms the natural way.

Blurred Vision After Corneal Ulcer

Two weeks ago my eye began to tear continuously, and I was sensitive to sunlight. The next day my eyes were paining and were red and tearing, and I could not stand the presence of light. Whenever light appeared, I had sharp pain in my right eye and constant tearing. I tried to sleep that night but could not. I went to a local eye doctor who said I had a corneal ulcer due to bacterial infection through contact lens and referred me to a cornea specialist. The specialist prescribed me a number of antibiotic drops such as Vigamox, Amphotericin B etc. Next time I visited( 5 days later), he said the ulcer was healing. He cultured my cornea scraping and it was determined as pseudomonas spp. So I was prescribed ciplox(as it was determined sensitive to ciprofloxacin) and Vigamox. 7 days later, my eye is now almost clear and the pain and redness is gone but my vision is incredibly blurry, as if I am looking through a cloud. At times, my vision seems to be getting better, but then, particularly in the morning, it is blurry. Can anyone tell me how their vision came back during the healing process? Was it a steady progression or uneven? When did the blurriness go completely? How long does the recovery process last? How do I know how much scarring has or will occur? My doctor tells me that he does not know how much scarring I will have or how much of my vision will return, so I am very scared. I am a software developer, and now I can't read anything clearly and all activities have been on hold. This is particularly hard for me as I just can't sit at home all day. Would someone please share his experience or knowledge? Thank you, Sananda.

Ulcer :: Sneezing Blood From Mouth

My son, who's 23, texted me that he thinks he has an ulcer. I asked why and he said he has been sneezing (from his mouth) blood, burping up blood and has BM's with blood streaks...

He's many states away and his Dad (who he lives with) is telling him it sounds like an ulcer. He said the gagging and burping up blood happens anytime he eats or drinks something. I don't know what his daily habits are, since I'm not there, but I know he does drink. And he's trying to quit smoking by using a vape pen. He's talked in the past about a feeling of having a huge gas bubble in his gut, that moves around and can be very painful. Please help me to know if I should insist he go to the doctor, He has no insurance so he would need to know it sounds serious.

Corneal Ulcer :: Blurry Vision And Sensitivity To Light

Hi everyone, just after some advice.. My left eye started watering really bad last Wednesday, by the Friday the white of my eye was blood red, I arranged a visit to the GP who gave me chloramphenicol eye drops and if it got any worse to take myself to our local eye hospital. By the Sunday my eye was so painful, watering, bright red and light sensitive. I ended up visiting the eye hospital to be advised that I had an ulcer on my cornea. This us down to a viral infection, I was given antiviral eye ointment to put in 5 times a day for 10 days. The doc said due to my job I would probably need 2-3 days off.

I have been off 3 days now and although the pain and redness has calmed down, my eye is very sensitive to light and my sight is still blurry.

has anyone else suffered this please and how long did it take to recover and the eye to feel normal?

Corneal Ulcer Due To Contact Lenses - Blurry Vision

I got a corneal ulcer around 1 month ago due to contact lenses. The bacteria was pseudomonas, they told me its very dangerous because it releases enzymes that melt the cornea. It all started one night when I felt like something was in my eye and it hurt like crazy. I didn't get any sleep and in the morning I went to the hospital. They started me on vigamox every 30mins. I saw them the next day and said it antibiotic wasn't effective, so I was on tobramycin and another one(forgot the name) for the first week I went to the hospital everyday. After that every 2days. They said there was a 5%melt of my cornea and I might have permanent blurred vision. It's been a month now, the ulcer is gone but as expended it left a scar. My vision is blurry but the doctor said considering the size and place of the scar(middle of my line of vision) my vision is pretty good. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not on steroids, should I be? I'm just on artificial tears now. Will my vision get better? My next appointment is next week so I will ask them what my options are with my vision.

Burns :: Peeling Skin After Scald (hot Water) - Pink Skin Underneath

I Just need to know if this in normal. I burn myself with hot water last week. I blister formed and then busted open. I drained the yellow/ clear fluid and a small scab in a straight line formed where the blister split. The scab got peeled yesterday by mistake and then a good amount of the skin that was burned ( only about 2-4 inches of skin, may be ) peeled off. It left pink skin exposed underneath. It doesn't really hurt at all, it just itches. I put neosporin and a band-aid on it this morning. I want to know if this is normal, if its going to stay pink like that forever, and if its going to scar.
