View 1 RepliesUndiagnosed :: Brain Fog With Head Pressure - Feeling Detached
I am male and 26 years old. I have been suffering with the symptoms in the title pretty consistently for about 2 and a half years now. I used to have some relief from the symptoms for a day or 2 here and there or maybe a bit of relief for a few hours in the day but recently the symptoms are pretty much constant and I cannot shake them.
I have an overall mild pressure feeling in the head, its not painful but is just very aggravating and feels really strange. I also have extreme brain fog with this and like a fuzzy head, there is a constant cloud over my brain and I never have any mental clarity or a clear head. My cognitive function is extremely poor now, my short term memory is non existent, its scarily bad. I often feel, detached from reality when the symptoms are bad and suffer from de-realisation, although I think this may be down to some anxiety and depression I experience when the symptoms run me down. I also get random sharp cramping pains in the head, they are quite painful but do not bother me so much as they only usually last a second or 2, it varies on how many I get of these each day but its usually less than 5. It often feels as though my brain is malfunctioning somehow and my cognitive function and senses are all out of whack, its hard to explain. There can sometimes be a build up of these symptoms throughout the day and by the night I can feel like I somehow how the flu without a fever? Like I have the head pressure, completely foggy headed, I feel super unwell, weak, sometimes even start feeling cold. Also have night sweats usually for about 4 or 5 days each month, there doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern to them that I can notice, so not sure if they are relevant. Another thing I have is ringing in ears which is mild but seems to have gotten worse recently if that sounds relevant at all. The main thing that gets me is the odd head pressure/sensation and the utterly life hindering brain fog, my brain feels like it is coated in a dark blanket constantly.
I do suffer from anxiety, I know many of these symptoms can be caused or made worse by these symptoms. I dont doubt that anxiety is a contributing factor and the way I think about they symptoms probably makes them worse but I have come a long long way with my anxiety, I have good control over it, I haven't had a panic attack in a couple of years, I manage to control most of my concious anxiety and stay in a positive mindset. No doubt I still have some subconscious anxiety underlying and I am working on that but I am not convinced this is the route cause of my symptoms. I am in therapy for my anxiety. I do not feel I will ever fully recover while I have these symptoms hanging over me though.
I have been to the doctor about these symptoms, although I do think I struggle to explain them or put them across very well in the doctors office. I have have blood tests which are all normal. I saw a neurologist couple of years back when this started, had a CT scan which was normal, they put the stabbing pains down to icepick headaches and thought the other symptoms were probably made worse by my anx/depression. Since then I went away and have been on anti depressants etc with no improvement of symptoms. I have also had a few ECGs and a 24hr ECG as I have slow heart rate and low bp so thought maybe the symptoms could be down to low bp and lack of blood to the brain, doctors do not think think this is the case and all my results came back normal. I have recently been back to the neurologist who is referring me for an MRI although he said he is sure there is nothing sinister and thinks the symptoms are probably tension type headaches and made worse by and previous drug use, he only put it down to the drug use when i told him about it though so it seemed like a convenient diagnosis. I forgot to mention I used to take drugs on the weekends socially, cocaine, ketamine and ecstasy on different occasions for a couple of years, I have had periods where I have felt ok since taking these drugs and do not really think they are the cause, I was not an addict this was just one or 2 nights a month at the weekends. So I have an MRI coming up but the neuro thinks it will be clear and obviously I hope it is and I am looking for other answers.
What could be causing these symptoms? Other than anxiety which i no can be a factor, but I have periods where my anxiety is pretty much non existent but these symptoms still build up out of nowhere and persist. I was thinking maybe some sort of allergy could be a possibility, I have tried cutting out gluten and lactose, this didn't seem to make much difference although I didn't stick to this for very long. I actually did a juice fast for 2 weeks with eating nothing other than fruit and veg juice put through a juicer to see if that would help but it didn't really give me any relief. Are there any other stomach issues that could cause this? I never have diarrhoea or constipation, my stools always float recently though, to the point of not being able to flush them, also whenever I have seen chance medicine doctors they check me out and say they think i have issues with digestion, i don't feel i have these issues but do wonder if there might be something in it.
Could there be something going on with the blood vessels in my head? Could it be a spine/posture issue? Some sort of epilepsy or electrical activity in my brain? I just have no idea now and am desperate for some relief. If anyone has any ideas or advice I would really appreciate it.
Oh just to add I am reasonably fit, I try go to the gym a few times a week and I do some weight lifting. I am a normal weight. I have been losing some weight recently which is a concern but I am still in a normal weight range for height and age.
Spinal Cord :: Electrical Pains Through Spine?
Does anyone have sort of fierce electrical pains travelling through spine lasts some short time and returns months later. I am 54 and have had these since my mid forties.
View 2 RepliesSpine Arthritis :: Frequent Electrical Vibrations Coming Off
I know that I have severe Arthritis in my spine. That was clarified back in 2013 from an MRI. However, I have not been able to get further testing. As time has went on, I have gotten some other symptoms that quite frankly scare me. Approximately six months ago, I noticed electrical vibrations coming off my spine...mainly between my shoulder blades. The feeling is somewhat like electrical impulses shooting out from my spine. It's not that it hurts so awful bad, but is a bizarre sensation that is very uncomfortable. Now, after six months they are coming quite frequently and are so prevalent, that it is maddening to say the least. It is now very much in my neck area. I'm having bad headaches. The whole right side of my body has a numb feeling 24/7...especially my right foot. Another symptom is (embarrassed to say), I can no longer control my bladder. I've lost complete control and have to where something in order to not be humiliated in public. I have horrible bowel issues also. If the bladder thing could not be bad enough! Last week I had several bowel issues that I won't even go into. Seriously?? I told my husband that I'm losing complete control of my body, or at least it appears it's going haywire! I just won my social security disability case after a couple of years of not working...which will allow me to get proper testing. I had to quit work because I was going into such horrible spasms at night, that I was screaming through the night and not getting any sleep. I'm still uncertain as to why it was the nighttime that all my horrible symptoms came on. When I stopped working, after a few months, many of those spasms resided. But if I do anything that puts too much pressure on my back, it returns. What kind of pressure? Let's just say that picking up a gallon of milk will do it...not good! Right now, it's the electrical vibrations that are freaking me out, along with losing control of extremities. This has taken on a whole new level of something I just don't want to deal with. I was just wondering who else out there might be experiencing these kind of symptoms and give me some clues as to what it might be?

I am 48 years old, female. Recently, I suffered from septic shock, was hospitalised for 8 days, 3 days in ICU. I experienced significant muscle wastage whilst in ICU and began walking around as soon as I was able to, increasing distances a little each day. Since discharge from hospital 2 weeks ago, my activity level has increased but I am experiencing severe muscle pain and weakness. The muscles in my thighs, upper arms and foot arches are the worst. Any activity seems to make it worse, it feels like my muscles are on fire. Is this normal? I was fit and very active prior to this illness.

Last year I had six sessions of shock wave therapy for plantar fasciitis, a condition I have had for 4 plus years. The shock wave therapy calmed this down considerably for two/three months. However I am now back to square one, so unfortunately it did not work. I would like to know if there is anyone who has gone down this route a second time, with positive results. So, if anyone has experienced a second bout of SWT successful or otherwise, I would be delighted to hear from you.

View 4 RepliesKidney Stones :: Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy?
I passed a kidney stone in August 2014 believed to be my first, although a few incidents in the past make me think I've passed stones before (I thought I was having a lot of UTIs but all tests came back clear, this was over a period of around 5 years and happened maybe 6-7 times). The stone in August was quite a strange experience, there wasn't much pain (it came and went) but I had the overwhelming feeling that I needed to pee constantly, it was unbearable and lasted all night so I couldn't sleep. The whole episode lasted around 12 hours (which I believe is pretty quick for a stone...God knows how I would have coped with that for any longer!). I had an x-ray followed by a CT scan a few weeks later and was diagnosed with multiple average-sized stones in my left kidney and one large (8mm) stone in my right kidney.
The whole thing is quite puzzling for me as I'm a 24 year old female, I'm vegetarian, and I religiously drink 2 litres of water a day and have done for the last 7 years or so. My diet is not salty and I don't consume a huge amount of oxalate rich foods. The only reason that doctors can come up with for my condition is that my father is prone to kidney stones.
I'm waiting for EWSL on the 8mm stone, which I'm pretty scared about as I'm worried I'll have the constantly needing to pee feeling afterwards while the fragments pass, but the other stones in the left kidney are just being left there. I feel like a ticking time bomb really because I don't know when these stones will pass, and even when they do, more are likely to form.
I suppose I'm just looking for some advice on how to cope with this situation, what I can expect, and how common the symptom of constantly feeling like you need to go is? Does this usually last long, or does it signify the stone being almost passed? Also, does anyone have any experience of EWSL and what should I expect from that?

View 2 RepliesCyclizine Dangerous Reaction :: Anaphylactic Shock And Couldn't Breath Unassisted
I was taken into hospital with severely painful kidneys, and given morphine as pain relief. Unfortunately this gave me terrible nausea so I was given Cyclizine via IV. Within 10 seconds I went into anaphylactic shock and couldn't breath unassisted. I had to be given adrenalin and was on oxygen for a considerable time. For the next two days I couldn't urinate and had to be catheterized. It was a frightening and stressful experience. The attending doctor told me that it was unheard of for anyone to be allergic to this drug, and that my inability to pee was not connected. I am still trying to recover. More research needs to be done. I believe this drug is dangerous.

I am 18 years old and it pretty good health. I do have an anxiety disorder and OCD.I am on medication for this. I would like some opinions please. No rude comments please.
I have this fear that I may have a brain aneurysm. I don't have any specific reason that I think this but the fear is starting to take over my life. I cant even focus at work because I worry so much. I just recently moved into a new apartment and i have been under a lot of stress. I was sick about a week ago with a common cold, runny nose, headache, watery eyes, sneezing. After i was getting pain in my head and my eyes from my cold I started worrying about my brain again, I had a headache today but ibuprofen took it away very quickly. I don't have vision problems or dizziness. I stay awake most nights googling signs and symptoms and then I convince myself that I may have it. I can barely sleep because I am so scared that I won't wake up. This is really starting to take over my life. What should I do? & Do you think I have an aneurysm?

Multiple Sclerosis :: Brain Spasm
I am sitting at work, like always, when all of a sudden.... inside my head (in the top, middle, and behind my forehead) I began to feel what seemed to be a muscle spasm. What? Rationalizing, I think... Our brains are muscles. Right? So it could be a muscle spasm. Whoa... I feel dizzy and lightheaded for a little bit. Now, I feel like my head is full (stuffed full) of cotton or something. It isn't in my ears. It wasn't my eyes. It was "in my head". WOW.
I experienced this sensation of by brain shaking that was followed by dizziness. The "brain shake" felt like a jolt and then vibration/spasm that lasted about 5 seconds. I feel like the room is spinning and tilting and I was about to fall over (even though I was sitting down). The dizziness lasted about 2 minutes or so. The weird feeling of fullness in my head is still there.
