Bell's Palsy :: Stopping Involuntary Eye Closing Or Twitching?
It gives me so much strength to read the articles on bells palsy and how others have endured this horrible illness. It truly is a faith walk and endurance with patience to remain positive. I have had palsy for 6 months now. It came on from stress of being terminated from my job and not able to pay the bills woes; other upsets in my home, and things going on at the church where membership dropped so low (my husband is the pastor) ... I have to believe it comes from stress related but I also feel it is related to needing dental work too. I had put off getting a root canal done and the gum and tooth is really sensitive on side with bells palsy.
I am getting better after a long 6 months of this stuff; but I still have NO movement up and down of my eyebrow;and I am not able to smile with my teeth showing yet. I had prayed so hard to wake of Christmas and be healed...
But the reason I'm writing is about 5 months in with bells palsy I now have 'eye twitches' which closes the eye on bells palsy side whenever I chew or eat. It also has left the bells palsy side 'higher' that the normal side of my face. It is like the drooped face reversed it self. At first the bells palsy side was dropped but now it is the opposite side of my face that looks like it is drooping. If I smile on the 'good side' it looks kinda normal now.
I really hate my eye closing and twitching like whenever I chew or drink. And it feels so weird.
Has anyone else experienced this with bells palsy ... if so what can I do to stop the involuntary eye closing or twitching?
Migraine With Pulsing Nerve Pain In Thigh And Leg?
For the last 3 months one of my odd symptoms before the migraine start is nerve pulsing pain in the arch of my foot. Then my inner thigh on same leg get nerve pains. Then it hits the temple on the same side. And then the head pain and nausea starts. Am I crazy? Anyone else get this? Should I start my pain med when the foot nerve starts...or when the head pain finally hits. Since I also have fibromyalgia, I think oh it will just be a stretching out issue.

View 1 RepliesFlashes Of Light Or Twitching Eye?
I flashes of light and eye twitches. Sometimes, I do not know which one is which. Sometimes I feel like when my eye twitches, it looks like flashing lights. Sometimes not. I went to a retinal specialist about 2 days ago to rule out any retinal detachment and retinal tear. There is none. Although I was diagnosed with lattice degeneration. But I am still seeing the flashes. What are they? They are really bothering me. Sometimes I feel like I am paranoid.
View 1 RepliesFibromyalgia Syndrome :: Twitching After Night Out
I went out for a meal with work on Saturday night and have been feeling under the weather ever since. I initially said I wouldn't go but it was a special evening and I really felt that I should make an effort and go. I only had one small beer and lemonade but the food wasn't what I would normally eat and I did feel stressed as I had to sit at the top table which made it difficult to hear and join in conversations. I went to bed about 11.30 and slept for 12 hours. I spent Sunday afternoon in my pjs and slept another 12 hours last night. My muscles have been really twitchy and jerky and my appetite has been down. Do any of you suffer in either a similar way or differently after going out?

Wondering if anyone else has this same problem? I have unwanted movements of my jaw that are becoming more frequent to the point I'm affected by this problem most of the day. My jaw will move from center to the left side, or other times in a back and forth direction... these forceful jerking movements are extremely fast, occur repetitively and once they start they go on for hours. At other times my mouth will pop open unexpectedly or it will slam shut really fast and hard like a bear trap, my teeth gnash together when my jaw slams shut. My teeth are in decent shape, considering... but I'm starting to worry lately about how much more abuse my teeth can take before they start getting knocked out.

Did anybody experience involuntary burping/ trapped air/ flemy lump when swallowing after their Parathyroidectomy? Mine started 4 days after op i'm now on my 3rd week of recovery and it's still there. Went back to hospital yesterday and she said the scar/lump which is going down nicely is normal, yet she has never heard of the involuntary burping/ trapped air , she said it could be because of where they have moved stuff and it's settling down. I still have soreness and bruising and this is starting to go down.

For the last 3 days I've had muscle spasm on my right side-it doesn't hurt. It's more like twitching. I have been burping-maybe gas. I have worked out a lot but haven't since this started. I was just wondering if anyone gets these. I did soak in Epsom salts tonight but the twitches still happening. I have read people do get these-it just makes you nervous as you feel a loss of control over your body.
View 3 RepliesNeurology :: Muscle Twitching, Soreness And Weakness
I am 27 years of age. I have always been physically active through gym workouts and soccer. About a couple of weeks ago I came back from a trip to Texas and started feeling lightheaded and minor headaches (possibly from drinking for a couple of days). A week later the ALS bucket challenge started spreading around social media, ******** more than anything. So I decided to donate for the cause. After donating, I went ahead and decided to educate myself on the disease and the symptoms.
That was probably the worst idea ever. A couple of days later I felt muscle soreness/weakness in my legs, arms and back. Then the twitching started in both of my legs (quads, calfs and bottom of my feet), arms (triceps areas and behind my shoulders). My initial reaction was ALS/MS, and I started freaking out. I went through a 3 day period in which I lost my appetite and felt fatigue, drained and had no desire to do anything at all. It has been a week now and the twitching has not gone away. I decided to go to the doctor and got some lab work done. The doctor stated that everything looked great. He even conducted a physical neurological exam and I passed. He stated it could be stress or dehydration. However, I have always tried to drink plenty of water during the day (at least 4 glasses a day). He recommended over the counter calcium 500mg and vitamin D 1,000 units.
My lab work came back normal (hemogram, BMP fasting, ALT, AST, TSH) but my body is still twitching and it feels sore at times. Yesterday, I got home and felt weakness on the top back of my right calf. I very concern and not able to concentrate on my daily activities (work and personal related activities).
Calf Muscle Twitching In Both Calves For Years
I have had for many years twitching in both calves. The twitching looks like a rippling motion, primarily when at rest, but I can feel the ripple when the calves are not at rest. I have not seen anyone about this and am not aware of what may be causing it.

I've been struggling with involuntary movements and leakage as long as I can remember. I'm currently on medications that may cause constipation and it looks like I can not discontinue them until further notice. It's embarrassing and can't really find a cure for it. I've tried many things such as
1. fibre supplements
2. kegel exercises
3. stool hardeners
4. Stool softeners
5. probiotics
6. natural fibres
I've tried most things under the sun and I am currently on the waiting list to see a bowel specialist. Is there anyone who has or had similar experiences?
Neurological Disorders :: Involuntary Snorting Every 45 Seconds
My 30 year old daughter has been doing this for the last several years. She can resist doing it for a while, but typically snorts every 45 seconds or so when she doesn't feel a need to limit it. It's loud and unpleasant. She says it feels like she can't breathe so she is actually snorting in her throat more than her nose. She feels like her throat is tight and not letting in enough air. I know it's bothersome for her, but it is maddening for those she lives with.
View 2 RepliesToe :: Sustained Involuntary Movements - Dystonia? Seizures?
Just wanted to know if anyone had ever come across this before. Our older son has had constant movement back and forth toward the other toe for over 4 months. Have gone to doctors and no one knows what it is. Also, has had muscle spasms in chest and back and sometimes down to the abdomen on both sides.
Going for MRI next week, but was wondering if anyone had had this before. One doctor thought it was from seizures, but the movement never stops. Is there a type of seizure that never stops? Also, have done some research on dystonia. Does dystonia have movements like this. Also, there is no pain from movement on toe. But, does have pain in chest and back. X-ray came back normal.

View 18 RepliesNeurology :: Muscle Fatigue And Perceived Weakness And Twitching
I have been having a slew of health problems recently but am still awaiting further testing. In the meantime, I am very stressed and having a hard time managing. I keep getting worried that my symptoms could be onset of ALS despite knowing how illogical it sounds. I am a 25 year old male.
First, I was diagnosed by my doctor with a sinus infection, although it was probably very slight. She prescribed me Augmentin and I took it for 5 days and immediately started feeling bad on it. After I quit taking it, I noticed some tingling in my hands and feet at work on Thursday the 11th. The next evening, Friday, my legs started to feel unsteady and heavy when I walked and my hands and arms remained tingly and had perceived weakness. On Monday morning, the 15th, I went to the ER and they believed I had Lyme Disease and prescribed me doxycycline. I took this for 7 days, but did not feel any better. I remained having perceived weakness primarily in my legs accompanied by muscle tightness, muscle soreness, and very slight, sporadic twitching all over. On the 19th, I saw a neurologist who dismissed my symptoms as not serious as my reflexes were ok (knees were slightly weak, but I was very tense during the test) and I was able to walk normal, it just felt strenuous. My lyme test came back negative and a second western blot also came back negative.
Currently, I continue to have all of my symptoms, including perceived weakness, muscle fatigue, soreness, tightness, and twitching. Symptoms are present all over my body, but concentrated in my legs. When I lay down at night, my whole body will feel as if I had a sunburn and I am having difficulty sleeping because of my worrying. If I go out and walk, my legs gets very sore and tired much quicker than they ever did before. Additionally, I have been having a very dry mouth and tight feeling throat. My PCP believes it to be either post-viral syndrome, mild MBS, or the least likely, MS. Others have suggested b12 or vitamin d deficiency. I have an MRI scheduled next week and an appointment with a different neurologist.
Other info:
-Was prescribed zoloft and am less than one week in to taking it. I believe it may be increasing the shakiness of my hands and my stress, as it takes some time to adjust to it.
-Was prescribed ambien to sleep. I'll sleep for about four hours straight, but then have a hard time continuing to sleep once I wake up. I believe I might be twitching or jerking in my sleep which wakes me.
-I tried to go to the gym on the 24th and run and lift weights. The next day, it felt like it really set me back, as I was much more sore and my legs seemed more unsteady.
-Began taking b12, b complex, magnesium, D vitamins.
-Had multiple blood tests. The only abnormal result was a positive ANA for speckled at 1:80. I read this can be a pretty common result.
-Less than 2 years ago, I had shingles.
Any thoughts on what could be wrong with me?
