Hip Replacement (day 8) :: Excruciating Pain Inside Thigh

I was using my gripper to help get my jogging bottoms off my operated leg being very careful not to exceed the 90deg rule. Suddenly, the most excruciating pain started inside my thigh (not wound) and groin. It was so bad it brought me to tears. Luckily the children were upstairs and they managed to get me flat in bed. I had something similar to this yesterday when I tried to move the pillow between my legs with the operated leg. The pain has subsided but I still have a dull ache inside my leg and a little discomfort at the site of hip bone.

Migraine With Pulsing Nerve Pain In Thigh And Leg?

For the last 3 months one of my odd symptoms before the migraine start is nerve pulsing pain in the arch of my foot. Then my inner thigh on same leg get nerve pains. Then it hits the temple on the same side. And then the head pain and nausea starts. Am I crazy? Anyone else get this? Should I start my pain med when the foot nerve starts...or when the head pain finally hits. Since I also have fibromyalgia, I think oh it will just be a stretching out issue.

Sciatica :: Constant Pain In My Calf And Thigh

I'm a 21 year old female & I was diagnosed with Sciatica in December & it's been driving me crazy since. I have had back problems in the past as I done gymnastics from a young age & studied make-up artistry for two years, both which can strain your back, also my job of working in retail has not helped. I have been in & out of the doctor's & it recently got so bad I had to go to hospital, I have been referred to physio however the waiting list is at least 10 weeks long before I will get to see someone. I've been taking advice from doctor's, I am on medication however I don't find it is helping, I have been doing stretches, yoga, going swimming, walking for as long as I can before the pain gets unbearable & to no avail. It's gotten so bad I can't sleep at night because I can't lie in a position without feeling shooting pains through my calf or my thigh. I'm really at my wits end, I'm so frustrated & down all the time because the pain is constant & it's stopping me from living my normal life & going out at the weekend with my friends. Can anyone recommend anything else that might help? The pain started in my lower back & has now spread to my calf & in the past few days has been making my foot feel numb.

Severe Low Back, Thigh And Groin Pain After Radical Prostatectomy

Does anyone suffer with the same severe low back, thigh and groin pain as I have been for the past seventeen months following my radical prostatectomy. I am fine for the first twenty minutes of walking or general activity before the pains starts and increases in intensity if I don't stop.  I have had M.R.I's and scans. The spinal consultant said it is caused by a lymphocele which I have had drained once, but urology don't think this is the cause. Can anyone offer any suggestions please. The nerve pain can get unbearable.

Hip Replacement :: Pain For More Than Three Months?

I am 3 months post op. I am a teacher by profession. I started teaching exactly after 12 weeks of op. But within two I've got severe groin pain n i could not go to the college. I am also getting back pain for past three weeks. I spoke to my surgeon regarding groin pain he said groin pain is common after hip replacement surgery. He said some people will have this pain for more than three months

I did excess exercises especially buttock squeeze. Is it the reason for my pain. Is there any other country? Is there anyone with same problem?

Hip Replacement :: Opposite Hip Pain After Walking

I had my surgery a year ago and just within the last few weeks my unoperated hip has been causing me a lot of pain. I've been walking 3 miles 3 times a week and with my limp it becomes painful to the point that I have to stop and sit down before I can continue. My hip is almost bone on bone and it hasn't bothered me too much but since the surgery it has been causing me pain. My doc said to continue walking because it won't deteriorate the hip any faster.

My operated hip is fabulous.

Pain After Partial Knee Replacement

I had a partial knee replacement 8 weeks ago n the medial side. The first month or so pain was tolerable, I figured it was healing pain. Since then the pain has become increasingly worse. I had talk to the doc twice and was told that if it does not look infected not to worry pain is a normal part of recovery. My next follow up is this week. I still go to pt 3 x week, they say it is healing great looks great and pain is normal. So my question is how much pain is normal. I feel like it is pinching below and to the side of the replacement. Today my knee completely gave away and scared me. Has any experienced this and does it sound normal.

Hip Replacement :: Severe Pain From Physiotherapy On Other Hip

I am feeling quite distraught after my appointment with the physio, she assessed my penguin walking which I am quite proud of, it is a tiny bit of progress - I thought I was doing okay....I am managing well given I am looking after two young children with no help, the house and a house full of animals - she told me off for prioritising the children which is impossible for me to do otherwise at the moment.

But the worst of it is when she corrected my posture has caused so much pain in my non operated hip, groin and back, it has left me in agony, I actually feel sick.

I have never felt so despondent in my life, she made me feel terrible, and finished by saying that I probably need a hip replacement for the left hip just like that! As if it was nothing. I felt slapped by that casual comment - given what we all go through it is not the best news, and I could have done with her breaking it to me a little more gently.

Hip Replacement :: Extreme Pain Still After A Year

My mother has done surgery for a total hip replacement 1 year ago and is still in extreme pain.

I personally think she has two problems. First with her wound/scar and second with the hip itself.

The first because her scar/surroundings of the wound is still extremely painful and sensitive. Even looking at it already hurts and this makes it almost impossible even wear clothes. This problem I suspect must be related to nerves maybe encapsulated by the scar tissue or something. I am not sure.

The second problem must be her hip or the prothese or something related. She has extreme pains which start in the morning. While still lying in bed, she is almost without pain but then getting up and even walking to the bathroom is enough to invoke the pain again. Then during the day active or inactive the pain worsens till a point where she can´t do anything anymore. Sit, walk, stand it all hurts. Riding a bike is still best for her and walking small distances also but sitting is terrible. So why if in inactive state in the morning is she ok and when she starts moving the pain incurs? This must be because of the hip or prothese which must invoke the pain. Either the replacement is too big, wrongly placed, causing whatever. Right? I am not sure but still after 1 year no one, even a second opinion was able to shed some light on her state. No one is able to find a cause of the pain nor for the wound nor for the hip.

I'm still waiting for my op but lately my pain has become unbearable. I spend most my time just lying in bed because of the pain and if i do do something like go out or housework i will regret it because of the amount of pain it causes. I'm currently taking tramadol but trying not to take them to often as i know they can cause addiction. Im also keeping a hot water bottle under my left hip to try and help. Anyone got any other ideas?

Chronic Pain Following Total Hip Replacement

I had both hips replaced in Feb and Sept 2011. Prior to this I had many years of pain and a great deal of difficulty with medical fields trying to determine what was causing my pain. Anyway once it was decided to replace both hips I was happy they had at last found a cause and what I thought was a solution. My first his replaced was my right and this seemed to go okay, it was a total different story with my left. I have been in excruciating back and leg pain since, I cannot walk any distance or stand for any more than five minutes. I need to use a wheelchair if I go out and crutches also, I am stuck at home all day while my family go out to work - I am frustrated and feel useless.

My pain is across my lower back and generates down my legs, my last three toes on my right foot go numb constantly. The pain is tingling, numbness, sharp, deep pulsating pain and electric shock type pain. The more I try to do the worse the pain gets. I spend most of my time with my legs raised as this helps, the pain never goes away but does ease when resting. I have painkillers and muscle relaxants but they do not really help. My hip surgeon like most of the forums I have read told me my hips are fine according to the MRI scan. He then referred me to the Spinal consultant, after nearly a year of seeing the spinal people they have now turned round and said the pain is not coming from my back and there is nothing they can do to help. I asked them what I was supposed to do and they said they had no answers!! I have attended all the physio appointments and even did a three week intensive course along with hydrotherapy - nothing has made a difference.

I lost my job due to all this pain and I am now registered disabled. I had more mobility (although painful) prior to my surgery than I do now. It was nice to read that other people are going through what I am experiencing (although I would not wish this on anyone) it somehow makes me feel better.

I have had numerous cortisone injections in the hips, nerve block of the L4/5 nothing has worked for me post surgery. I had cortisone injection prior to my surgery and guess what it helped - work that one out. I am now being referred to the Pain Clinic (again) and Rheumatology as it was noticed on one visit to the hospital that I had a butterfly like redness on my face and they queried Lupus (still waiting for those appointments - surprise, surprise).
