Foot / Ankle :: Heel Pain 7 Months Post PTTD Surgery
Okay, here again, asking if anyone who has had heel pain after pttd surgery has had any solutions to heel pain problems. Prior to surgery and the osteotomy, I never had the least issue with my feel. Now it feels like there is a rock under my heel in the middle, and I walk on the outside edge of my foot, with my toes scrunched tightly to the ground. Very unnatural. And the surgeon who did my procedure can't think of any reason why I am having this issue, and recommended that I go for a second opinion with someone else. Sooo...... For those of you who might have had this issue, any solutions? Did it go away by itself in time?
View 14 RepliesHallux Rigidus Surgery - 2 Months Post Decompression Osteotomy - Still Pain / Swelling
On Dec 3 I had a decompression osteotomy on my right toe for hallux rigidus. My doctor told me I would be running at 2 months and completely back to normal at 3. It is over 2 months and I still have a lot of pain and swelling. Running is out of the question and I am still limping.
I am interested in others' experiences with this surgery. I am supposed to have it done on the other foot as well, but I am simply worried that my right foot may end up worse off than when I started.

I have been suffering with heel pain for 7 months. Very frustrating. I left a job in december because standing up for prolonged hours was too painful. Have discomfort in my current job but the hours are shorter so it is more bearable.
Just wondering if anyone has suffered with heel pain for a similar length of time and if it ever went away eventually?
Heel Pain 2.5 Weeks Post Achilles Tendon Surgery
I am probably worrying about nothing, but I had surgery on 11 July and since i had my stitches out and cast changed on Tuesday (22 July) my heel has been quite sore. I am PWB and the cast moves slightly when I walk... Could the pain be caused by the cast rubbing on my heel? During the surgery I had metal shards removed from the tendon (caused by calcaneal osteotomy screw disintegrating), treatment for tendinitis and the tendon was re-anchored. I also had a lateral ligament repair, but the site of that is not so sore. I'm not sure whether to call my doctor... I don't want to bother her if this is just healing pain and is normal.
View 3 RepliesPain And Swelling 3 Months After Bunionectomy
I had a bunionectomy done on my right foot in December of 2013. They had to bread the bone, shave off a good portion, and put a couple of pins in. The surgery went good and I had minimal pain for about 3 weeks after the surgery. Now I am about 3 and 1/2 months out from surgery and I am still having some pretty major swelling. I still can't wear most of my normal shoes and my socks leave indents on my foot. When I wake up in the morning it will look like it's not swollen, but by mid-morning it is swollen again. My doctor prescribed me arthrotec to get the swelling down, but I've been taking that for a month and it's not helping much so far. I am a nursing student and I'll be graduating in 6 weeks and hoping to get a job. I really need to be able to wear regular shoes and be on my feet for up to 13 hours a day.
View 1 Replies5 Months Post Op L4 / L5 Spinal Fusion - Still In Pain
I'm 5 months post op from MIS fusion of l4/l5 and in pain.
Had microdiscectomy at the same level november 2013 without any relief. The back pain only got worse. The disc was completely dehydrated and I was offered the fusion 6 months later. Not that much pain after the operation but it has increased a lot. Severe back pain in the lower back and all the way up to the shoulders.

I am experiencing pain on the bottom of my right heel. I have been told by several people that could be several things....a stone bruise, bone spur, heel spur, plantar fasciitis or tendonitis. Any ideas?
View 5 RepliesAnkle Swelling Still After 6 Months Of Bunionectomy
I had a bunionectomy done on my left foot in November of 2012, and I was feeling pretty optimistic after reading multiple stories of people recovering, jogging, even resuming all regular activities in scheduled recovery time. Well after 3 long months I ditched the crutches for a boot and it seemed like I was progressing except my ankle was constantly swelled. I followed with constant icing and elevating the ankle but nothing changed. When I finally started walking (limping) I noticed the swelling was still there and quite painful so I went to my doctor. He told me it was nothing and part of the recovery, so continue my stretches, and so I did. Weeks later and my ankle is still keeping me from walking regularly, and wearing a proper normal shoe. I went back and my doctor took a closer look and determined that my Achilles tendon was swollen and I would have to take PT. Well 2 hard weeks of PT and stretching, I thought maybe I'd finally solved my problem but I haven't. I'm almost into my 6th month since surgery and my ankle is still swollen. Everytime I get up, I have to stretch out my foot or I'll have a slight limp, my ROM is still pretty limited, and after trying jogging I threw in the towel. I'm very discouraged from not hearing any similar stories and that I've been away from my passion of tumbling for almost half a year.
View 2 RepliesPartial Knee Replacement - Still Discomfort And Swelling After 3 Months
There seems to be a lot of posts for total knee replacements but haven't seen many for a partial. Has anyone had a partial knee done and how are you getting on. Three months after mine was done for a second time I still experience some discomfort and swelling bordering on pain, wondering if this is normal after this amount of time.

Migraine With Pulsing Nerve Pain In Thigh And Leg?
For the last 3 months one of my odd symptoms before the migraine start is nerve pulsing pain in the arch of my foot. Then my inner thigh on same leg get nerve pains. Then it hits the temple on the same side. And then the head pain and nausea starts. Am I crazy? Anyone else get this? Should I start my pain med when the foot nerve starts...or when the head pain finally hits. Since I also have fibromyalgia, I think oh it will just be a stretching out issue.
View 1 RepliesSciatica :: Constant Pain In My Calf And Thigh
I'm a 21 year old female & I was diagnosed with Sciatica in December & it's been driving me crazy since. I have had back problems in the past as I done gymnastics from a young age & studied make-up artistry for two years, both which can strain your back, also my job of working in retail has not helped. I have been in & out of the doctor's & it recently got so bad I had to go to hospital, I have been referred to physio however the waiting list is at least 10 weeks long before I will get to see someone. I've been taking advice from doctor's, I am on medication however I don't find it is helping, I have been doing stretches, yoga, going swimming, walking for as long as I can before the pain gets unbearable & to no avail. It's gotten so bad I can't sleep at night because I can't lie in a position without feeling shooting pains through my calf or my thigh. I'm really at my wits end, I'm so frustrated & down all the time because the pain is constant & it's stopping me from living my normal life & going out at the weekend with my friends. Can anyone recommend anything else that might help? The pain started in my lower back & has now spread to my calf & in the past few days has been making my foot feel numb.
View 13 RepliesHip Replacement (day 8) :: Excruciating Pain Inside Thigh
I was using my gripper to help get my jogging bottoms off my operated leg being very careful not to exceed the 90deg rule. Suddenly, the most excruciating pain started inside my thigh (not wound) and groin. It was so bad it brought me to tears. Luckily the children were upstairs and they managed to get me flat in bed. I had something similar to this yesterday when I tried to move the pillow between my legs with the operated leg. The pain has subsided but I still have a dull ache inside my leg and a little discomfort at the site of hip bone.

View 1 RepliesSevere Low Back, Thigh And Groin Pain After Radical Prostatectomy
Does anyone suffer with the same severe low back, thigh and groin pain as I have been for the past seventeen months following my radical prostatectomy. I am fine for the first twenty minutes of walking or general activity before the pains starts and increases in intensity if I don't stop. I have had M.R.I's and scans. The spinal consultant said it is caused by a lymphocele which I have had drained once, but urology don't think this is the cause. Can anyone offer any suggestions please. The nerve pain can get unbearable.
View 3 RepliesHip Replacement :: 10 Months Post Op Follow Up - Doing Great
Quickly my story...First THR went perfectly. It was an anterior approach method and within five weeks I was moving about like I had never had surgery. Second one went wrong within the first couple of weeks. My surgeon tried various procedures to help the situation but to no avail. Then I was kicked out of his practice because I missed two payments on my account and I was left writhing in pain, crippled, for life. That is how it felt. I could not move without screaming and I became depressed. My whole life was changed by this.
THEN I discovered this site and the wonderful people on here helped me go for a second opinion, taught me to research the surgeon first and I chose Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, about five hours from my home. That surgeon found the problem immediately, while the other could not, and it was that my device had come loose and was migrating, twisting and projecting outwards, hitting every nerve possible. So he did the successful revision! Revisions are tough.
Around 6 months post op I began to pray for a part time job and one surfaced almost immediately. A light duty janitorial job for two hours a day. And I can tell you that after laying around deteriorating for two years, it left me MORE than out of shape! The first two months at this job left me feeling that I was going to die! Oh my! I am 57 and never felt so weak in my life. I sweated, I mean drenched with sweat because the physical exertion was so difficult to do.
Then my newest hip began to hurt. An x-ray showed that there was no damage, so I just had to work out the kinks. I was very careful not to break the 90 degree rule and twist while breaking it. Now I am 10 and a half months post op and feel stronger, more flexible than I have in a long time.
It feels good to be back out among the living, earning a little money, and feeling a sense of accomplishment that the bad THR took away from me. And I job share with a friend who covers me when I cannot work. I am proud to say that I just accomplished working five days a week three weeks in a row!
After all that extreme pain I suffered, I want you to know that I am having many, many mornings when I awaken and feel absolutely no pain! I lay there and thank God for moments like this and try to just soak up the good feelings before I have to get up to begin my day.
When I was down and out with all that pain and failed device, that was all I could think about. Life all but stopped and sometimes I wished I were dead. Now I can reach higher levels of thinking. I have even meandered around my yard making mental notes of what needs done in the Spring and actually feeling as though I will be able to complete the tasks.
I want to send the message that no matter how bad off you are right now, it will, it can, get better. Just around the corner there is life as you knew it. And for those who are permanently in pain, know that my heart goes out to you and I admire how you survive. You ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE TO HEAL RIGHT, so be patient with yourself and your medical team and do what you are told to do. There is nothing wrong with stretching yourself to see where you new boundaries are as you progress, but do so carefully.
