Alcoholism :: Sweating All Day Long And Can't Tolerate Heat

I am a 42 yr. old female who started drinking at about 31 yrs. old. I started drinking the 5 litre boxes of wine and by 2 yrs. in I was drinking at least 2 of those boxes of wine a week. Present day I am drinking about 2 bottles of vodka a week for about 2 years now. I do not drink during the day. For awhile now I have had really bad night sweats and now I am sweating all day long and I can't tolerate heat. Would not drinking during the day cause this? Maybe menopause? I have had the basic blood work done recently and for my liver, all came back normal. Is my body trying to get rid of toxins?

Thyroid :: Can't Tolerate - Synthroid, Armour And Cytomel

2 1/2 years ago my hypothyroid meds (90 mcg synthroid) started to make me feel extremely hyper, but my blood tests came back looking good. I was finally diagnosed as having Adrenal Fatigue (after seeing 13 doctors and 18 months later) and was taken off my thyroid meds totally for a about 6+ months to heal my adrenals.

My saliva test says my adrenals are much better (still not 100%). I tried to then go on Armour, but continued with anxiety, neck pain, headache all day on right side, depression…the usual.

I am now chopping up the meds and take small doses of 12.5 Synthroid and 1.25 Cytomel twice a day - morning and afternoon - for about 3 weeks but I still feel hyper…and tired and anxious, depressed. If I take more T3 I start to get really anxious.

I went on the above combination after I first tried just Cytomel alone at 1.25 and went through the roof after about 3 days, so I stopped.

We are trying the above combination thinking the Armour we tried earlier was the wrong ratio of T4/T3 (75/25%). According an online chart, my current med routine of synthroid/cytomel = a ratio of 90/10%.

I am still feeling extremely tired, anxious, no appetite, no energy, dizzy, feel like I'm not here, and depressed. Was considering changing the T4/T3 ratio to perhaps 50/50%. Anyone ever try this?

NOTE--best week ever: A few months ago, we tried switching from 15 Armour only to 12 Synthroid only for 1 week. Just to try something different. After 1 week of no progress we switched back to about 7.5 Armour for a few days--then upping to 15. And WOW, I had the GREATEST week in the last 2 years ever, then it started to decline again the next week while keeping Armour at about 15.

I was also off Gluten for 3 months with no noticeable improvements.

I keep thinking this has to have something to do with my Adrenals. As I said my saliva test came back much better - the doctor said I was 80% back to normal. I'm thinking that's not close enough?? I need to be 90% before I can tolerate the meds?? 95%?? I don't know!!

Has anyone had experience with this? Were you eventually able to take your thyroid meds again? How were you able to do it?

Oesophageal Achalasia / Spasm :: Can Only Tolerate Liquids At Present

I have had swallowing problems, oesophagus pain, burning in chest feeling as though food is getting stuck and an awful sensation of a lump in my throat for the last four years. I was wrongly diagnosed with GERD and treated with PPIs. My symptoms have gradually got worse and after three attempts managed the manometry and twenty four hour pH test following this I have been recently diagnosed with achalasia. I feel so unwell and life is feeling unbearable I can only tolerate liquids at present and my symptoms seem to have deteriorated since diagnosis feels like everything sticking in my throat an awful taste the lump has got worse and feels like I can't feel my throat properly and my swallow feels weak. All my symptoms are bringing on the most awful feeling of anxiety and I just don't know where to turn no one understands how bad this feels. Has anyone else had this terrible sensation of a lump and at the same time a sort of lack of sensation in the throat.

Fluoxetine With Alcohol?

new to this Flu stuff. Have read the sheet with the tabs and it said nothing about taking it and still drinking alcohol so I am curious if this is a bad combination or just "not good".

Don't drink a lot but I do like the odd glass of wine with dinner.

Benzodiazepines :: Alcohol The Following Day?

I take zopiclone as and when I need it - it usually ends up being once or twice a week (for about 6 weeks now.) A week ago I was going to a wedding, wanted to be well rested for it so I took 1 7.5 mg at around midnight and woke up at 7ish ready for the day. The ceremony was in the afternoon so I didn't start drinking until around 3pm (15 hrs after taking) however as soon as I had had a few mouthfuls of wine I came over a bit strange. Dizzy and felt like I'd drank more than a few sips. Started to feel a bit panicky and left my friends to go for a walk in the grounds. (I suffer from anxiety anyway so this isn't that unusual.) Whilst out there I felt unstable on my feet and had a fall, grazing my knees and spilling wine on my lovely new dress! I didn't trip... I don't really know what happened but my boyfriend saw me and says I just fell over nothing!! I had only had a few sips at this point so I couldn't blame it on the drink alone! During the wedding breakfast a few hours later I thought I was going to fall asleep in my food. But thinking it was just me being a massive weirdo and not at all putting the two together I continued to drink. I got very drunk much quicker than usual and was a general mild embarrassment to myself but fortunately no other injuries or major incidents! Anyway I know they say don't drink while taking zopiclone but I always assumed it meant that night! As in don't take it with alcohol or take it when you get in from a night out. But now I'm thinking was 15 hours enough time to leave AFTER taking?!!! It might just have been a bad day for me but I'm not normally that clumsy that I go falling about all over the place after a few sips of wine. Any comments or experiences would be welcome! I might just be looking for an excuse for being such an embarrassment but either way I think I will avoid taking the night before an event like that again

Alcohol Is Very Bad For Gout?

I am a 29yr old male, in good shape and not obese. I had my first gout attack 2 years ago, most certainly due to high blood pressure (on meds now). About 6 months ago I had a bad fall and injured the same toe that had previously gotten a gout attack, so I had a resulting 2nd gout attack. I had uric acid of 7.5 and started taking Uloric.

I read alcohol (especially beer) is very bad for gout. I can't say that I've ever noticed alcohol to cause an attack, maybe a few times my big toe has been a little tender the day after drinking a little too much, but never an attack.

So my question is how would you know if alcohol affects your gout or not? I'm a social 29yr old and drink pretty regularly, so I'm worried that it's hurting my gout without me knowing it, if that makes any sense.

Methotrexate And Alcohol

I've begun taking a dosage of 10mg of Methotrexate and that was on 10 of May, I have a party to attend on the following Friday the day before my next dosage. I know that alcohol is not suggested on Methotrexate and up to two drinks is permitted but it will be a day before my dosage so that means i've only taken one tablet, there wouldn't be enough in my system to start inhibiting it would there? I plan on drinking more than two standard drinks and I need some help to know if I there will be any drug interaction producing liver problem or illness.

Citalopram And Alcohol

Started on Citalopram before Christmas and gradually worked up to 20 mg per evening. Had been at that level for 3 weeks by the end of last week. It seemed to be working well in combination with Amitriptyline to help with the sleep disturbance. Anxiety and depression were controllable and I felt more positive about my marriage.

Had a dry January, so thought it would be OK to have a few drinks at the weekend. Nothing OTT, just a few drinks, not a binge. Since then I have been irritable, agitated and feel very pessimistic about my feelings for my wife.

Does alcohol counteract the Citalopram, especially this early on. I'm racked with doubts and anxiety.

Citalopram With Alcohol

I have been on 20mg of citalopram and 20 mg of propranolol, I have also been taking 2mg of diazepam when I need it, for the last 4 weeks and as it's coming up to Christmas, I do enjoy a beer or two, I asked my dr was allowed to drink on the tablets and she said yes I could have one or two but don't get drunk (not that I would with a 5 year old and 4 month old) but I was just wondering does anyone have any 1st hand experiences taking alcohol on medication.  I haven't had any alcohol for the last 4 weeks

Topiramate :: Can You Have Alcohol With It?

I've been on Topiramate for 3 years, can anyone tell me the reason you can't drink alcohol whilst taking it.

I did it once, I had half a glass of wine and it was like I'd had a bottle of vodka! I was violently sick and was ill for 3 days. Never again. I want to know what's in it that stops you from being able to drink.

Would be nice once in awhile to have a glass of wine!

Fluoxetine And A Few Drinks (alcohol)

I have been taking flu now for 9 weeks and still have good and bad days. I am very anxious at times and feel impending doom which isn't helpful when I lead a busy life ie full time job and have a young child!! I still want to enjoy myself and although I don't need to I wouldn't mind a few glasses of wine with my girlies every now and then to relax and have fun. I'm wondering should I miss my 20mg flu capsule the day I want to have a few drinks?

Consequences Of Paxil And Alcohol?

i'm wondering what the physical consequences of alcohol and paxil are? i've read and been told everything from death to increased drowsiness, but have personally found that most of my problems occur after drinking, not during. i have noticed my heart beating slower, but assumed it was because i was relaxed.

lately i have been dealing with sleep disturbances and mental confusion, as well as anxiety. recently my paxil dosage was increased from 20mg to 30mg. i drink, on average, a moderate dose of whisky a night. (roughly half of a pint, to be exact).
