Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 - Coolant Leak - Faulty Head Gasket?

I just bought my 2006 Toyota Prius about a year ago in 2009. It has been treating me LIKE GOLD !!! up to this point. About a month or two ago, the check engine light came on and stayed on along with a big red triangular warning light. I let it go for about a week hoping that it would just go away.

I brought the vehicle into my local Toyota dealership so they can diagnose it.They told me that they had 3 or 4 different "codes" coming from the machine when getting the signals from the check engine light. All the codes were related to the cooling system. They said that they felt that there was "debris" clogging the pathway for the coolant flow throughout the engine. They had recommended a "coolant flush" for the hybrid side as well as the mechanical side. So I took their advice and I had them perform the coolant flushes.

After leaving the dealership that 1st time, the check engine light came back on the next day. I called the same dealership and explained it to them. They asked me to bring it in again. SO I brought it to them a 2nd time. They diagnosed it again. They told me they came up with 2 of the SAME "codes" and 1 that was different, but ALL the codes were STILL related to the cooling system. They explained to me that something was preventing the clear flow of coolant throughout the engine. And since the thermostat was the only major obstacle, they recommended that I replace it. Well, I did. And after I left the dealership that 2nd time, I was praying that this was the last of my Prius issues! The check engine light came back on the next day.

But now 2 weeks later there is something on the ground again. What it might be?

Camry :: Oil Leak From Crank Seal On 2004 Car?

I was told by a repair shop that I had a "possible" oil leak from the crank seal on 2004 Camry. I am a bit skeptical about this. What would be the signs of such a leak? 51,000 miles on car.

Prius (Gen 1) :: 2001 Oil / Coolant Leak - Crack Seal

2001 Prius with 190K Km (119K mi) on it.

Some background on the car: An inverter replacement when it was less than one year old, the Big-Hand issue, the engine ECU (I think) replaced just after warranty expired, resealing of traction battery terminals... And last month the front brake pads (original) had to be replaced because the driver side inner pad fell off while braking on the highway. lol. The problem was probably due to the inner pads being jammed and received excessive wears. Also, on at least two occasions, the engine ran with extremely low level of oil, or none at all (to the point where the engine sounded different and occasionally shuddered). I don't know what caused the oil level to drop, but ever since then, the engine seems to be going through the entire reservoir of synthetic oil advertised to last 25000 Km in just 5000 Km (~3200 mi). Not sure if the engine is eating up the oil or the car is leaking oil (there is no oil stain where the car is normally parked).

Problem: When the car was brought in for tire replacements last week, the tech noted that "Head gasket leak. Also leaking from tranny cover. Could be crack seal" with an estimate cost to fix the issue at several thousand dollars, which has been vetted by a family member who is a heavy mechanic. I have attached the report for reference.

Golf IV R32 :: Vacuum Leak On The Driver Side Seal

I have a vacuum leak on the driver side seal on the changeover rod in the intake manifold. It was replaced recently at the dealer and now has another hole in it. I was told this is caused by oil in the lines and my pcv valve is bad.

Passat (B7) :: 1.8T - Oil Leak Appears To Be From Rear Main Seal

I wanted to bring attention to an oil leak I discovered today. It appears to be from the rear main seal. My Passat is a 2015 1.8Tsi with the 09G auto. You can see the leak with the belly pan on. From the front of the car, looking through the vent for the transmission pan look at the lowest point on the bellhousing there is a small machined flat area. Pictured is that area (with the pan off). There is also oil on the back side of the bellhousing on one of the main bolts between the block and trans. The three rear bolts on the pan need to come off to see that one. I would recommend looking at this area on your Passat. Currently my Passat has 3,490 miles on. It's not a terrible leak, but it is worse than what should be present on a modern, new vehicle.

Prius (2010-12) :: Oil Leak From Timing Cover Seal

Had our dealer service (non oil change interval) today at 46k miles. Was informed that there is an oil leak from the timing cover seal.

I was told it's not a minor job to remove the timing cover and reseal due to the many labor hours involved. 2 days of work required.

Ford - Fusion :: 2006 - Leak In Crankshaft Seal

I have a 2006 Ford Fusion SE (2.3L 4-cyl.) 5-speed Manual, with 280,000 miles on it. It's been a great car with very little repairs, etc. I've noticed a little oil on the driveway - nothing big, but certainly consistent. At my last oil change, they told me I had a leak in the crankshaft seal and that I should take it to an engine shop. I'm not a 'do it yourself' kind of person when it comes to big repairs. I'd love to keep the car going another year... If I don't fix it, should I avoid oil changes? The leak doesn't seem bad and it doesn't drive any different.

Golf/GTI VI :: Door Seal Water Leak In Some Steady Rain

I took a road trip a week ago and on the way home ran into some steady but not heavy rain. I thought I noticed water leaking in the driver's door out of the corner of my eye and when I swiped the top of the door with my hand sure enough, it was wet. The passenger door leaked a little onto the seat, too.

Ford Excursion :: 2000 V10 - Front Differential (Inner Seal) Leak

2000 Excursion, Limited, 4X4, 6.8L, V10. My right front inner differential seal is leaking. I have researched and found out that I have to remove the pumpkin gear assembly from the front differential to get at the seal.

Do I need any special tools to get the seals seated back into the differential? Any instructions or a list of parts needed?

I went to fordparts.com and entered my vin number but it makes no reference to the parts of the front differential only the rear.

Ford Transmission :: Small Leak Around Tail Shaft Seal

I got a fmx mated to 351w, trans was on back of a 302 and no problems other than small leak around tail shaft seal but shifted great. Now I decided to install mildly built 351w so figured it'd be a good time to build tranny. Installed after build and immediately it was slipping. Pulled trans out took it back to shop and he said the forward seal was blown. Installed again, after about 15 miles same result! What could be causing this. It is fine in reverse, but slips bad in forward gears.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2009 F250 - Rear Diff Fluid Change / Pinion Seal Leaking

I just picked up an 09 F250 a couple of weeks ago and I was planning on replacing all the fluids since I'm not sure when everything had been done in the past, but it did pull a camper 5th wheel. It has about 93000 Km/57000mi on it

One thing I noticed when reading the manual is that a rear diff fluid change is not necessary on these rear axles unless they have been submerged in water or repaired etc..

Just after I got it I noticed the pinion seal was leaking. It was fixed under warranty but the dealer did not replace the diff fluid as they said Ford will not pay for it.

My question is do you think I need to replace the diff fluid or should it still be good, given the relatively low mileage.

Passat (B5) :: 2002 - Can Faulty Switch From Fuse Panel Short Out Steering Wheel?

I took my '02 Passat in a couple weeks ago when the steering wheel controls and horn stopped working. They replaced a fuse. About 10 days later, I experienced the same problem. That time, they said that the steering wheel was all shorted out and needed to be replaced. Five days later, again the same problem. Now the dealer says it's some faulty switch from the fuse panel, which caused the short of the old steering wheel. Since that wasn't replaced, that's why I experienced the problem again. Could that have been the only problem? Or could that really have fried the steering wheel, too. Am I being taken, and do I need to fight to get some of that money back? Or is this legit? How can I verify that what they said was the problem actually was, and that I'm not left paying for their mistaken diagnosis?
