Touareg :: Thumping / Knocking Noise When Letting Off Of The Accelerator To Stop
I have been hearing a muffled thud or knocking noise often, especially when letting off of the accellerator when coming to a stop...almost sounds like some kind of bracket might be broken and some part is slapping against another. No particular consistency in the pattern of the sound...very strange. I had the car in for service to replace the stepper motor and the tech indicated he thought changing it would take care of it...it didn't.

I have a 2013 golf r and I usually shift gear at 3 rpm when driving normal but for some reason it doesn't feel right, I can hear the clutch making a weird noise whenever changing gear at a low rpm, it feels so much smoother when shifting above 4 rpm but I dont always wanna punch it so hard especially when there's always traffic from where I live. Any advice on a smoother shift at a low rpm.

I am hearing a noise first thing in the morning when I leave my house and the car is shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The sound, I think, is coming from the front center of car, say directly below the radio area. The noise lasts only 1 to 2 seconds and sounds like when some tries to put a transmission in reverse while still rolling forward. A metal against metal sound of two pieces trying to mate up. I'm thinking transmission...I'm hoping center diff. There was mention of a scraching sound coming from front passenger side on initial startup. Idea was this could be Immobilizer or ABS.

I have a V6. Very happy with it...no real problems, but I do notice a fair amount of drive train gear lash noise when the vehicle is coasting and the windows are open. Is this normal? It not like it sounds really bad and hasn't gotten worse in the 2500 miles since I have my Treg...but I would like to know if it is normal.

I have an early model year 2004 Touareg which has lately developed what appears to be a slipping problem when changing gears from 5th to 4th when decelerating or the same when accelerating strongly and downshifting. When switching over to tiptronic mode, its not clear if that apparent slipping goes away or changes. It definitely isn't as severe but that could be due to perception or the RPMs where the shifting is occurring.
The only real interesting characteristic of this clunk and lurch that is experienced is that it only happens when the car is warm -- I've been watching the transmission oil temperature, and it appears to start happening as it passes through 200 degrees. When it starts, the lurch/clunk is small and not too bad. As the car reaches temperature, it reaches if full lurch/clunk potential.
I have taken it to the dealer once and they have "upgraded software" that was supposed to clear up the problem, but did not.
Touareg :: 2008 - Changing The PSI Setting Of TPMS?
I have an 08 Treg 2 V6. I have had little success at lowering the pressure setting at which the alarm sounds on my TPMS. The owners manual does not mention how to do this. The reason I want to do this is because my tires are rated at a max of 44 psi and my alarm setting is 43.5 psi which sounds every time the outside temp changes the pressure.

I was wondering if with vagcom you can change the scroll-wheel on the steering wheel to run through the 6 presets, rather than just going through all of the stations. The way it is, I find it useless but it would be great if it could go through my presets. Maybe I just missed it in the owners manual...but I don't think VW gives you a way to change it... I just got a Touareg with no manual. I have it and the Bentley CD ordered. In the meantime I need to charge the battery and cant figure out how to remove panel in front of seat. It was dead for a few months in the cold weather and I want to double check to be sure it didn't freeze and bust the sides.
Also I'm not sure this vehicle had the PDI done yet. What to look for in regards to a battery disconnect switch in the seat area. Supposedly the dealer removes these as part of the pre delivery inspection.
One last thing, with a jumpbox attached can I turn the key to a "on" position without danger of engine cranking to get it out of park? I guess what I am asking is when you insert the key and turn it to the right, is there a position past 12:00 that cranks engine, and then springs back to 12:00 when you let go of the key?
I need to roll it around my shop, but don't want it to accidentally activate the starter.
Touareg :: Changing Front / Rear Power Ratio Of The 4x4 Transmission
Is it somehow possible to change the (standard 50/50) Front/Rear Power Ration of the 4x4 Transmission? I know the Porsche Cayenne uses something like 40/60 (as well as the BMW X5) and as the Touareg and Cayenne are supposed to share the same hardware I figure it must be possible to adopt the Cayenne settings.

Towing the 16 foot bambi airstream this weekend for Canada day long week-end. First 7 hour leg to destination great. On return trip gear selector on dash screen was flickering and would disappear completely. Engine seemed to be stuck in 1st gear but would run at about 80-100km/hour and 3000rpm. Also could not select anything except high gear(high gear/low gear selector just kept flashing)..... Trip computer/Gps also malfunctioning. The truck seemed to be trying to correct gear issues but eventually gear display totally disappeared and was left running at 80 km so as not to over rev the engine. Taking in tomorrow. Truck had new engine at 70000km, has 97000 on now. Throttle body replaced 2000km ago due to malfunction in shifting.

Ok so my friends '06 automatic was making this horrible thumping noise. So I replaced the DR side axle assebly. Still thumping , so I replaced the the passenger side...STILL THUMPING!!! WTF I turn the wheel hard right or left I hear a 3-4 clicks when I back up. Wheel bearing? Unbalanced wheel? Broken engine mount?
