Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Brief Interim Of Engine Compartment Fumes

Ok, best way to splain this is after our Santa Fe has been warmed up and after a short shopping jaunt and restarting there is a brief interim of engine compartment fumes when the heater is turned on. Within a minute this is gone and not a problem but it's as if lingering fumes get somewhere within the ductwork although I cannot recall having this happen during warm months with the ac being on. I've never encountered this problem in other cars we've had. It's not overwhelming and only lasts a minute or so after starting.

Lexus SC430 :: Distinct Odor Of Antifreeze Or Fumes From Radiator

I went for a hour drive tonight after i brought car back to garage i could smell a distinct odor of anti freeze or fumes that would exit the radiator. I checked under the car no leak i looked in the engine compartment looking for perhaps a spill of antifreeze that might be resting on top of the front engine pan. I could not find any liquid.

The temp gauge when i was driving was a bit below mid way it usually as I remember is there or a bit lower. Where the smell is coming from I had the heat on for a bit in the car while top was down and i have no leaks in the interior of the car . The car is a 2005 I have 5940 miles on it . I bought it new in 2005 and I only drive it in good weather and on weekends .

I have not had any major service since the mileage is so low other then state inspections oil and filter regular changes done once a year Mobil 1 . Should I consider flushing the radiator and changing the anti freeze. As I said I don't drive it on long runs but I do use it a bit around town. When I lift the hood i can smell the anti freeze but cant find any.

What to look for. The coolant overflow reservoir cover was in place and all hoses looked good and there was some residual coolant in the tank as there should be and i could not see any steam or vapor coming off these parts.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Strong Odor Of Gas In Cabin

I have a rernote starter installed on my '07 SF 3.3. It will leave the engine running for 18 minutes before shutting off. If I get into the vehicle after it has been running for over 10 minutes or so, there is a strong odor of gas inside.

Where I might look for where it is coming from? If I remember to leave the vehicle in "recirculate" mode the night before, the odor is less, but my wife and I drive it equally so often the recirlcualte button will not be pressed.

Not sure if there is a leak somewhere (no other signs of a leak or gas odor while driving), or if this is "normal"...

Camry :: 2003 - Fuel Door Engine Code / Gas Fumes

I got an error that shows my that my gas is leaking gas fume and the check engine light is on because of that so I was wondering if this is really oem.

Same one I have on my car but was just wondering if that is really oem for my camry.

1 more thing is can someone link me to a fuel door because the current one I have right now makes a noise when you open the fuel door like it scraps the inside of the fuel door with the body so I need a new one that will have the same color as my car which is a gray phantom pearl.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: CEL Keeps Going Off Reading The Code P0660

I am having problems with my intake manifold tuning valve. My CEL keeps going off reading the code: P0660.

After further inspection, the plastic piece that connects the valve to the front solenoid has cracked. I was able to glue it for a temporary fix, but the dealer says Hyundai only sells the piece with the entire upper surge tank, not just the small plastic piece alone.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Fuel Fume Odor When Sitting At Idle With The Windows Down

I have a 2004 Santa Fe, 2.7, 150,000 miles. Have had the car for a month or so. I notice that at times I am getting a strong fuel odor when sitting at idle with the windows down. Why the odor, what should I look at, and is this normal? I don't always smell it, does not have to be a full tank to smell it. No fuel leak that I can see . . . I would think the canister would capture the odor?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Check Engine Light With Code P0456

At roughly 140,000 miles, my wife's '07 Santa Fe GLS has thrown a P0456 code. Does this code on a Santa Fe common?

It is "evaporative emission system leak detected (very small leak)." The good news, I guess, is that it is 'very small.' However, being small may make it more difficult to detect.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Misfires Along With Error Code P0341 / P2189

I have a 2008 model 2.7 v6 with 80000 Km, and I would like to share my experience with several issues:

- Random misfire: brought the car to Hyundai, very bad response. I bought online the wiring of the spark plugs (according to them that was the reason of the misfire) and they installed it, did not improve. The car was still showing error code after clearing, and the fuel consumption at an average of 23L/100km.

- I then decided to change all the 6 spark plugs, no difference. The workshop told me the coils were in perfect condition. Still having a message like this: "ignition error on 2 or more spark plugs".

- I did a complete cleaning with contact spray of the MAF sensor.

- I bought online a couple of ignition coils, being original Hyundai ones, and changed them. When installing them i realized the existing ones were not original Hyundai and had a small marking, making me think they were recycled or chinese stuff.

- Having done that, the OBDII shown two more error codes: P341: error on camshaft position sensor, P2189: fuel idle (too much air, maybe caused by the first one). Changed both camshaft position sensors and then big change in the behaviour, more response, throttle, better gear switching.

- I so concluded that the 4 remaining coils have to be changed and ordered another time 4 of them online. OBDII showing now only one error code: random misfire. The engine going much better than all i got before.

- I have decided to take advantage of this order and also ordered a new TPS (seeing here that it was a common problem) and a Crankshaft position sensor (in order to prevent any other issue).

- I also changed previously 2 downstream o2 sensors that were giving an error related to emission. Emission here are not strictly controled so it is not a big issue.

My question is, what in all that sensors can more likely make my car burn 23L/100km??? Asian cities are quite similar to american cities, lots of highways. This consumption compared to what you describe is way over the normal one isn't it? I was assuming the ignition problem was the responsible, am i right?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Check Engine Light Lit Up - Code P1405

I've recently bought used Hyundai SantaFe 2007 and the engine check light lit up. I've bought EML327 OBD2 scanner, it showed P1405 meaning "EGR tempereature sensor incorrect". Some of my friends says it has something to do with CPF filter and EGR valve. They think, i should clean both CPF and EGR. Car service told me that DPF (not CPF) filter cleaning costs arround 350eu and one service told me to simply take it out and reprogram car computer. As far as EGR valve cleaning goes, no service wants to do this. I don't really know much about cars, so my main question is what would be my next step in trying to fix this error.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2011 - PO198 Code / Oil Temperature Sensor?

I took my 2011 Santa Fe, 3.5 liter, in for the tail light water thing, and a cracked fitting down near the thermostat (all warranty). I bought a rad flush while they were in there.

I picked up the car, drove for 1/2 hour and got a CEL. Plugged in my code reader and got three PO198's, oil temperature sensor. The dealer was closed by then, so I left it in their lot and will call them tomorrow. Their repair performance to date has been poor, and that's being polite. How a rad flush could cause a PO198? Could they have forgot to plug the sensor in? Is it located anywhere near the thermostat housing? Did they not get the air out of the rad, and maybe the engine did get hot?
