Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: EV And Hybrid Mode Run On Same Battery Pack?
Does PIP have two different batteries for each mode (EV and Hybrid) or is it the same battery?
View 10 RepliesPrius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Low Speed Electric Acceleration In Hybrid Mode?
Just curious, is the low speed electric acceleration in *hybrid mode* generally, seat of the pants, noticeably more robust than that of the 'regular', 3rd gen Prius? By low speed, I mean starting off from stop lights in normal driving.
Why do I ask? In 3rd gen Prius, electric acceleration lasts only a few seconds from a stop, maybe up to about 15 MPG roughly with light acceleration. With heavy throttle, gas engine comes on about right away.
How does the PiP behave under moderate acceleration from stop in hybrid mode? Could we say PiP accelerates on electric drive in HV about 6 MPH per second +/-x up to 25 MPH +/- x on level ground, etc....?
Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Check Hybrid System Message While Driving On Freeway In EV Mode - Code P03CE
Yesterday while driving on the freeway in EV mode, my PIP (one of the first delivered to the states) flashed the "Check Hybrid System - Stop the vehicle in a safe place" message. I was near my house so I just went home. My SG2 showed code P0C3E, which is apparently an inverter over temperature code.
Took it to the dealer this morning and they just informed me that the car needs a new inverter, but no other details… "internal fault" is what he said.
While googling, i found this recall notice:
Green Car Congress: Toyota recalling about 701,000 Gen 3 Prius vehicles in US over software issue in inverter assembly
that doesn't talk specifically about the PIP and implies that it is a software problem, but goes on to say if the car is in a fault condition the inverter will be replaced. of course, it's possible that a software problem leads to hardware damage.
Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2004 - Stuck In Limp-In Mode?
Wife come home the other day after leaving for work with the truck no going past 20KM to 30KM.. After some investigating it seems to be in Limp - In Mode. There was a Check-Engine light & after further investigation found a Vac hose with a leak, repaired this & test drove. Same issue.... then there was a loud hissing sound from the engine area so I investigate & now found the EGR sensor (DPEF pressure sensor ) had blow a hose & fried the sensor.
New sensor was replace along with 2-hoses cleared the engine light but the truck still will not go more then 20KM or 30KM max.. I checked the EGR valve with vac pump & engine stalls or so the valve is good. I have left the neg cable off the batt to try & clear the Limp-In mode without success. Looking for a way to clear the limp-in mode or do I need to clear it with a scan tool?
Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: ECO Icon Always Lights Up When Driving In EV Mode And Car Switches Over To HV Mode
I have noticed that when driving in EV mode when the car switches over to HV mode the Eco icon always lights up! Of course you can select Eco, or Power mode manually, but when it does this automatically, after the EV battery charge is used up, it keeps showing the Eco icon being lite not HV.

Prius (Gen 3) :: 2010 EV Mode Will Not Work / Throttle In PWR Mode
I have a concern about my 2010 Prius V(five). I've noticed some issues lately that may all tie in to one big problem.
1. My ev mode will not work at all. My battery will be fully charged and not in "B" mode. Turning car off and on will not work.
2. Engine will not turn off when coming to stops. Mind you when the battery is above 3 lines.
3. Throttle response feels like it's in PWR mode(super sensitive) but the engine is leggy. If I floor it for a sec the RPMS are super slow to come down.
4. The Eco line is quick to go in PWR portion and I'm not pushing it any harder than I was before all of this started. It seems like when I push the gas it skips the electric and automatically pulls from the engine.
Toyota - Highlander-hybrid :: 2010 OME Navigation System - Disc Stuck In Scan-disc Mode And Load / Eject Button Doesn't Work
Inserted updated nav disc as directed in nav disc slot, closed door. Now the disc is stuck in the scan-disc mode and the load/eject button doesn't work on it. Wondering if there is a way to force eject the disc or other way to unstick it. You can hear the disc 'whirring' briefly as if it is trying to eject, but is stuck. It does this over and over. That's the only sound; none of the other buttons are responsive.
View 1 RepliesCherokee :: Why Hvac Acts Like It Is In Recirculate Mode With A/C Button Pushed In Manual Mode
2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Wondering why the hvac acts like it is in recirculate mode with the A/C button pushed in manual mode. Have window cracked to force smoke and odors out of cabin. On vent mode it pushes air right out, in A/C mode it acts like recirculate is partially on and in recirculate mode it draws outside air in like you would expect recirculate to do. Trying to decide if I have something wrong or the nature of the beast. My GM vehicles do not act like this.
View 1 RepliesDodge - Intrepid :: 2000 - AC Clutch Always On Even In Heat Mode (no Defrost Mode)
I have a 2000 Intrepid with ATC (automatic temperature control).I noticed my A/C clutch is always is on even in heat mode (no defrost mode) Is this normal in automatic mode even if I set temp at 90° without defrost mode? Been looking on forums and some say it is normal for newer cars and some say no. What is correct.Doesn't seem normal to me when I set temp at 90° and the A/C is still running. The heat does work though.I did check for voltage at the clutch and it has power so something is telling it to run, (not a bad clutch, stuck clutch etc).
I never seen or heard it cycle when watching it. (hard to tell when driving) because the cooling fans go from low to high sometimes even without the A/C cycling.
In manual mode I can physically turn on or off the A/C but if it is on, I never seen it cycle yet when set at a normal temp 72-75° is this normal?I know it depends on outside temp, humidity, inside temp etc but if it feels comfortable in the cabin shouldn't the A/C cycle on and off every few minuts-10 minutes etc or is it normal to go 30 minutes or more without cycling? I don't have it on max Cool or recirculate mode either.
Prius (Gen 3) :: Can't Get Out Of EV Mode
Here is my problem. In the mornings when I turn on the car and begin to drive away, it operates as if it is in EV mode even though the ECO or PWR light is on. The motor (ICE) turns on as part of the initial warm up but it does not power the car on acceleration. I continue to accelerate enough so that it should ordinarily kick in the motor, but it is only electric powering my car and the battery quickly drains before I even reach the end of my block. I've tried warming up the car, pushing all the EV, PWR, ECO buttons randomly but the only way I've found to fix the problem is to floor it completely which finally starts the motor. Then the problem doesn't happen again until I start the car to go home after work. The problem is most evident in PWR mode where I can clearly tell that the motor (ICE) is not powering the fast acceleration.
View 19 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Transmission Would Not Work In Tow Mode And Caused Engine To Go Into Limp Mode
I have a 2008 F350 with a 6.4 Powerstroke diesel engine that just experienced total engine failure. It has around 65K miles.
There is a heavy burn star pattern on all 8 pistons, a few pistons are cracked, a few cylinder walls are scored, glow plugs are melted, both heads are cracked with multiple stress fractures in each head.
About 1 month previously, the transmission would not work in tow mode and caused the engine to go into limp home mode. The dealership just replaced the entire tranny as a warranty item. About 1 week before the engine failure, I put in a 5.25 oz bottle of Lucas injector cleaner with a full tank of gas.
The Ford dealership is saying that the star pattern on all 8 pistons is due to high pressure fuel overspray and is evidence that I had a tuner on this engine and that the warranty is invalid. I did not have a tuner. What might have caused this engine failure?
Also, they only ripped down the top half of the motor, not the bottom half. I heard this might have been caused by a cracked crank shaft, but Ford refuses to investigate this possibility.

View 5 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: System Says EV Mode Not Available
This has happened a few times since I've gotten the recall done, but it's not until now I'm getting miffed. If I start the Prius first thing in the morning and try to use EV mode, the system says it's not available. Battery indicator is over 50%...more than enough to say it's not a lack of available power cutting off access to EV mode. Problem does not reproduce once the car's been driven for a while.
This is a pain because the chief advantage of EV mode is the ability to move the Prius without bothering with the ICE.
Prius (Gen 3) :: 2010 - No ACC Mode
My 2010 has no ACC mode. Took it to dealer to have key fob programed and dealer could not put car into ACC mode.
I'm second owner. This is not an issue of how to put in ACC mode. It does not enter ACC.
Prius V :: B Mode Cause The Engine To Rev Up
We were driving our Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) through Shenandoah National Park. On the way into the park, we used the B mode and it seemed to work fine (like driving in 2nd gear on a regular car). On the way out of the park, we used it again and it seemed to cause the engine to rev up alot and we were worried we were overheating the vehicle at times.
View 2 RepliesPrius V :: Can Lock Car In EV Mode
I have a teen, who is just starting to drive. She has done one lesson in a parking lot, and didn't go very long. I though it would be easier / safer if we could keep the car in EV mode. I have tried pushing the EV button on the console, but if you step on the gas, it just drops out of EV mode. I know when we took the demo at the car show they managed to keep it in electric only. Is that possible?
