Camry :: 2008 V6 XLE - Front End Vibration Between 40 And 50 Mph
I wanted to make a quick post to talk about a possible solution to a front end vibration on a 2008 V6 Camry XLE. The vibration seemed to only show up between 40 and 50 mph and was more intense when accelerating harder. I drove it like that a good while thinking that a tire rotation and balance would fix it, but when I got that done the vibration was unaffected and as bad as ever.
After some searching here and in other places online, I thought it might be related to a warped brake rotor or other brake issue. I also found some information about bent axles and issues with CV joints. This thread sounded the most like what I was experiencing. 2008 Camry front end vibration
Yesterday my father in law and I replaced the passenger side axle/CV joints as well as the brakes on all four corners. The vibration seems to have been eliminated. There was a definite difference in the amount of slop of the new CV joints and the originals on the car. There was also evidence that the CV joint closest to the center line of the car had been leaking grease, even though the boots were all intact.
All in all it was a fairly inexpensive and straightforward repair. The new CV/axle unit was around $80 and fit perfectly. The only issue we had was finding a socket that would fit the 12pt 32mm nut that was originally on the car. The replacement came with a 6pt nut that was much easier to deal with. From start to finish, the CV/axle replacement probably took less than 2 hours and didn't require any weird specialty tools or knowledge.
The only odd issue was the brake pads that came off of the car. They hardly looked used at all. Compared to the pads we replaced them with, they couldn't have had more than 10% of their thickness worn away. The odd part of that is that this car has 178,000 miles on it and these were the original brakes from the factory. Pretty wild stuff.
Other than normal wear items like tires and oil changes, this is the first real work the car has ever needed since I bought it new in late 2008. That kind of dependability is why I'm passing this car on to my mother in law and just purchased a used 2012 that is a carbon copy of the 2008.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Front End Vibration At Around 55 MPH
I have a 2007 ford f150 supercrew. I have a vibration in the front end at around 55mph. Doesn't vibrate at lower speeds or when you get above 60 mph. I have replaced the struts and just put new Michelin tires on it. Wheel bearings feel fine and front end bushings, tie rods and control arms look fine to me. It feels like the vibration is coming from the left side. I read somewhere that a possible cause is an upper control arm.
View 5 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Getting Vibration From Right Front Of Car When Driving Above 50 MPH
I have a vibration coming from what seems to be the right front of the car when I exceed 50mph. It doesn't matter what type of road it is (concrete vs. asphalt) and it doesn't go away.
The vibration has a pattern to it, the best I can describe it is a cycle (wrrr----wrrr----wrr). My wheels are 18s with OEM Pirellis, car is a 3.6l sport wagon. I have never owned a car with this brand so I cannot rule out the tire. Naturally the dealer hears the noise but they say nothing is wrong with the car.
What I can do to make it go away. This noise distracts me form the rattles the dash, hatch and pillar make.
Passat :: 2006 VW 2.0T Front End Vibration Whenever Accelerate
I have a 2006 VW Passat 2.0T with around 60,600 miles on it. Recently I had the CV axles replaced. Since then the front end vibrates whenever I accelerate. I took it to back to the mechanic and he said the engine mounts needed replaced. I am very skeptical of this diagnosis but am now stumped. (Also I had the tires balanced and rotated after the axles where replaced and the vibration is still there).
View 7 RepliesPontiac - G6 :: 2008 - Vibration In Steering Column / Noise In Front Of Engine
I have a 2008 Pontiac G6 GT. I loved my card until I had to replace the rotors and changed to an all-weather tire. Now, I can feel a vibration in the steering column; a vibration in the seat and floor; there is a noise in the front of the engine when I am going over bumpy or icy roads; and the car pulls to the left when I have been stopped at a light or an intersection. Oh - When re-starting on a slightly icy or gravel-y road, I also get a sound that sounds like gears grinding -- not like the traction control is kicking in.Frustratingly enough -- the car can go from feeling like it is driving "tight" -- like the power steering is out -- to driving "loose" like the steering wheel is ready to fall off the car and vibrates like it never has before. No one notices the vibration but me (which is frustrating because I have driven my car over 30,000 miles, and what seems "normal" to others, is not "normal" to me).
View 13 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Vibration When Braking / Truck Almost Flutters In The Front End
I recently purchased a used 2006 Ford F-150 (5.4l RWD). I was fully aware of a problem with the brake rotors when I bought the truck from a dealership. They supposedly changed the rotors and the rotors appear to be new...But every time I brake the truck almost flutters in the front end. I haven't noticed vibration while on the highway, only when braking. I am worried because I can fix it I just cant seem to figure out what the problem is.

View 4 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Front Suspension Clunking Vibration At Low Speeds
This just started happening on the driver side. Going over bumps and slight road wobble type imperfections make a medium pitched clunk sound. The sound stops as soon as I press the brakes ( which I just replaced last week). I do have a worn out bushing on the curved lower control arm. Could that be it? Do I need to replace all control arms or can I do just the curved set? If thats the issue.

Just recently I've noticed my front end on my B6 3.6 4mo vibrates during the initial start-up in the morning. After the car warms up the vibrations go away. I had new brakes, oil change and tire rotated recently. I checked the cold start air pressure on the wheels (Nexen 235-40-18) and they are at 38 PSI, cold. All tires still have their balance weights also. I can feel the vibration in the steering wheel and seat. This vibration only started after I had the mentioned work done on my car.

I recently I had the cv boots replaced on my 2006 VW Passat 2.0. Since then the front vibrates upon acceleration. I have taken the car to a different mechanic than the one who did the cv boots and he says there may be a broken motor mount. I am skeptical about this diagnosis but now am completely stumped.

My 08 passat seems to shutter or vibrate at higher and lower speeds. It comes from the wheels(front). At first I thought my wheels aren't balanced, but the VW dealership said everything is fine.???huh.. they roadtested it and nothing...but others that drive with me totally notice it..Major road noise because of it.
They also sold me winter tires and rims and they wore out after 25k same noise?... "Broken beads".... they said i hit a pot hole.. I don't think so.... So what do you think? Rotors? if so how much am i gonna get jacked ..
Passat (B5) :: Vibration Coming From Front Of The Engine After Brakes Fixed
Yesterday, I went to pick my car up from getting an oil change (full synthetic, Mobil 1 5w-30) and an estimate on brakes. turned out to not be quite as much as i had anticipated. while i was in making an appointment for the brake job, my mechanic and i were joking about how if it's not one thing, its another on VW's. And how the car will be in great shape after i get the brakes fixed/replaced.
So i go outside to drive home. When i start the car, there is this odd squeaking/vibration sound coming from the front of the engine. I immediately shut it down and go get the mechanic. after 30 minutes of muddling over it, we determine that it cannot be determined from just looking at it. so they're going to check it out on wednesday when it goes in for brakes.
A little more info, it is definitely something to do with the serpentine belt, because the sound is definately coming from the drivers side front of the engine. If you listen near the timing belt cover there is no sound so i'm pretty sure its not that. and the car drives fine, besides the weird noises that make it sound like a diesel at idle.
its a 2002 1.8t 5 speed wagon, 143,000 miles. I know 5w-30 mobil 1 is not 502 certified.
Passat :: 2006 - Vibration In Front Right Part Of Car After Boot Replaced
I recently had my front right boot replaced due to a hole. After being replaced there was a vibration in the front right part of the car (same place as where the boot was replaced.) Now I brought the car back to the shop where the boot was replaced, and they told me this vibration was caused by a bad wheel bearing in that section. After the shop replaced this bad wheel bearing, the problem still existed. Now this vibration happens only when I accelerate to 3300-3500RPM, and occurs at times when I make turns. What this might be or how this is caused?
View 1 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2001 - Unknown Vibration After Front Axle Replacement?
I have a 2001 b5.5 passat sedan i recently picked up for cheap. The car was on cut springs and blown struts. I just installed JOM blue Line coilovers on it to solve the suspension problem. While i was doing this i realized both the cv boots were torn and needed replacing. I replaced the axles. The passat is a 1.8t with tip tronic trans. After i did the axles when i put the car in drive and let it idle i get a fairly noticeable vibration through out the car. It does not happen while driving or while in neutral. This did not happen before i did the axles. It doesnt make much sense to me?

I have what feels like a rotational vibration (front to back) during mid to hard acceleration in 5th gear (60-65+mph) and its driving me crazy trying to figure this out. I can slightly feel it under hard acceleration in 3rd gear as well.
I have tried two different sets of wheels (both after market and stock) with no luck. I am starting to think it is in the motor and not the suspension... Or could it be the trans? What can I check/inspect to get how to tackle this?

Passat (B5) :: Front Brake Noise - Groaning / Vibration / Creaking Right At The Very End Of Stop
I recently replaced the brakes on my '99 Passat with all new rotors and pads. I used Mintex pads in front, as recommended by Adirondack Auto Brokers, and after a couple thousand miles, they are all broken in. The car stops fine and the pedal feels good, but there is always a groaning/vibration/creaking right at the very end of the stop. Nothing unsafe or a problem, but just annoying. It is only when the car comes to a complete stop at the last 6 inches of motion. If I let the brake pedal up slowly from a stop, it will also do it. What can I do to get rid of this, or is it from the pads and I just have to live with it until they are replaced?
View 2 RepliesPassat (B7) :: Audible Rumbling With Vibration At Front / Mid Of Vehicle Under Specific Circumstances
2014 Passat 1.8T Gen III manual... Experiencing an audible rumbling with vibration at the front/mid of vehicle under specific circumstances.
*93 octane tune (high torque at low rpm)
*barely perceptible in 3rd, but more in 4th and very much in 5th
*about 1700-2200 rpm ONLY when deep into boost - as soon as I even slightly reduce torque, it goes away
*seems to be related to engine firing frequency (i.e., 2000 rpm = 66Hz firing frequency...still audible and tactile at same time)
*not related to road speed
*sweeping through problem area in 1st or 2nd goes too fast to develop the rumble.
Hypotheses:
*half shaft shake (torque related dynamic runout)
*engine mount/trans mount groundout from torque reaction
*exhaust system ground out due to torque reaction.
It doesn't feel like a misfire, not slipping clutch. I would hate to have to get a 91 octane tune or just avoid the sweet torque at 2k!
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Humming With Rhythmic Vibration Coming From Driver Side Front Wheel
2008 2wd 4.6L 98K miles F150 for the past few weeks has been humming with a rhythmic vibration which feels like it is coming from driver's side front wheel. It doesn't do it constantly, nor at all speeds. Once I hit about 25mph, you can start to hear a humming. At 35, slight vibration. Between 50-60, heavier vibration. Sometimes at 65+, it subsides quite a bit. Both front rotor assemblies are newer, and I put in a brand new left because I thought it was a bad bearing.

I have an '08 VW Passat with a 2.0T FSI Engine and both of my front parking lights aren't working. A while back, I got body work done on it and then it was returned to me with that warning sign. I didn't make a fuss because I got a really good deal on the bodywork and figured I could just look into it myself.
I don't think it's a faulty connector because all of the connections seem to check out.
