View 17 RepliesPassat (B5) :: V6 Rough Idles After Temperature Gauge Fixed
02 Passat 4Motion with the 3.0L V6. I just had the car at the dealer 2 weeks ago for the 50K service and to have the temperature gauge fixed. Otherwise, the car was running just fine. At the service, they replaced the water temp sensor, performed a fuel injector service and radiator flush (both recommended).
Now two weeks later, her car rough idles, dies and has to be towed to the same dealership. They first diagnose fouled plugs which they replace gratis. They then tell me the plugs fouled because the ignition coil and wires have gone bad and need to be replaced. They want to do an additional injector/intake cleaning service. They are offering to discount the services slightly. I'm still going to be out another $850.
I called Volkswagen Customer Service and they confirmed that the ignition coils were not covered under the recall.
Something sounds "off" to me. The car was running fine before the initial service. Was the dealer just being "nice" in comparing the plug replacement or did he think that they initial fuel injector service may have fouled the plugs? I don't really want to pay 2x for the same service and now the coil/wire replacement.
IS F (2008-2014) :: Grinding Noise Coming From Front Brakes When Slowly Coming To A Stop Below 5 Mph
Just got a 2013 IS-F. Loving this car, but discovered an annoying issue. Grinding noise coming from front brakes when slowly coming to a stop below 5 mph. Is this normal?

When backing out of same parking spot, I always hear a clunk, clunk, clunk, noise in the front while turning the steering while back in the fixed position. I have heard this noise in the past but did not think any thing of it.
It's hard reproduce this noise, it seems to only be happening when backing out and turning the steering wheel. Car only has a little over one thousand miles.
Smart - Fortwo :: Dust Coming Off The Front Disc Brakes / Front Wheels Look Filthy
I really enjoy my 2009 Smart car, excellent gas mileage, fun to drive too. The only drawback is all the dust coming off the front disc brakes that makes my front wheels look filthy even when the rest of the car is clean. Are there other brake pads that work as good as the factory originals yet don't give off so much dust?
View 4 RepliesToyota - Sienna :: Audible Vibration Coming From The Rear When Applying Brakes
I am noticing an audible vibration coming from the rear of my wife's 2004 Sienna van when applying the brakes. I have inspected and confirmed there are no fluid leaks, there is ample material left on all pads and the pads still fit snugly into the retention clips. Also, the pads and rotors show no sign of uneven wear. Front brakes were replaced in 2009.The van currently has ~63000 miles on it.
View 2 RepliesPassat (B5) :: New Brakes - No ABS Vibration In Pedal?
I recently noticed that my car wasn't performing the ABS self-test (that little brake pedal vibration and sound you hear when you reach 5 mph backing up on the first start-up of the day). Saturday I had to make a sort of emergency stop, and I didn't feel that ABS vibration in the pedal, and I even skidded slightly.
There's no message on the display about the ABS or anything else. I did recently have my front pads and rotors replaced with OEM parts, including pads w/sensors. Is there anything the mechanic could have done while replacing the brakes that might have messed up the ABS.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Vibration When Brakes Applied / Front Tire Does Not Hold Air
I bought a brand new 2010 Sonata in April 2010. So far I only have 2500 miles on it. The problems I am having are:
1. When I apply the brakes, there is some vibrating sounds coming...
2. The passenger side front tire does not hold air more than 25-26 psi.. If I raise it to 34 or even 32 psi, it drops down to 26 psi within a week and then stops leaking...
Ford Brakes/Suspension :: 2003 F250 5.4L 2WD - Front End Vibration Starts Around 40 MPH
My 2003 F-250 5.4L 2WD has a front end vibration that starts around 40MPH (sometimes) and gets gradually worse until it goes away at 55 MPH. It oscillates the wheel a good 3/4"-1". It also does it also when decelerating through those speeds. It "feels" like the left side, but I can't be sure. When I jacked it up, I could get some movement laterally on the left wheel, but not the right. Also Noticed that the drive shaft has about 1/4" of play at the carrier bearing. Leaning towards ball joints.
View 2 RepliesFord Brakes/Suspension :: 1999 E350 - Vibration From Front Driver Side Area
I have a '99 E350 passenger van I have been trying to figure out a vibration problem. All the way up to 67 mph it is as smooth as a Lincoln, but from there up a vibration emerges from where I think is the front driver side area. I have done new rotors/calipers, because it needed them, balanced tires numerous times, have put the fronts in the rear and those have not fixed the vibration. The van has 100k on it and I love owning it especially with the big V10. The vibration is just enough to be annoying and when driving it is almost like it cycles for 4 seconds for the vibration then smooth for 6 seconds.
View 3 RepliesFord Aerostar :: Loud Pop Coming From The Front Brakes
When braking from very low speed to full stop (f.e. parking maneuvers), i often hear a loud "pop" coming from the front brakes, regardless of steering direction. I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before here but can't find a thread.
Brakes are otherwise working good (front & rear) but it's time to do a maintenance just to be safe.

Camry 2012+ :: XLE V6 - Intermittent Rattle / Vibration Coming From The Front Of Car
Have a new 2012 Camry XLE V-6. The car has an intermittent rattle/vibration coming from the front of the car. I have 5000 miles and the noise is getting worse. Taken back twice to dealer but no luck. The dealer has checked the front end and suspension, but can not find anything loose. The noise starts around 45 MPH. I know this sounds crazy, but the noise is worse if it's a windy day. A sudden guest of wind will start the noise. I've tried trouble-shooting by turning the wheel, hitting the brakes, even placing the car in netural while driving, but nothing affects the noise except the wind.
View 14 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Pulsating Hum And Slight Vibration Coming From Front Of Car
Bought a second hand 2010 prius a couple of months ago. Between about 58 and 68 mph I get a pulsating hum and slight vibration that seems to come from the front of the car. Each pulse lasts about a second then appears again in another second. It's there when going straight and worse if I go round a tight right hand bend and reduces round a left hand bend. If I lift off the accelerator it makes no difference.
View 10 RepliesMalibu - Maxx :: Intermittent Rattling / Vibration Coming From Front End
I have a 2005 Malibu Maxx and there is an intermittent very rattling vibration coming from the front end that magically clears up when I take it to be serviced. It seems to happen most on the highway at sustained speeds. You can really feel it in the steering wheel and it seems to clear up when slightly turning left or right. When it does happen, we pull the car over to the side, or turn it off a while and it is gone until next time. The last time felt like it was the worst and really difficult to accelerate the car from a stop, felt like the emergency brake was on when it wasn't. It also didn't clear up after a stop, had to turn it off a while.
View 5 RepliesMitsubishi - Lancer :: Gradual Vibration Coming From The Front Suspension
I've got a 2008 Mitsubishi lancer. I've noticed a gradual vibration coming from the front suspension. At first I could just hear it, but now I can feel it in my steering wheel and a little in my pedals. It doesn't vibrate when I accelerate, nor does it vibrate (too badly) when I brake, but when I'm holding the speed consistent, or letting off the accelerator is when I really feel it. I also feel it when I turn the wheel slightly to the left, but once I get past this (maybe 5 degree turn) threshold it stops vibrating. I was thinking a wheel bearing or CV joint, but wanted to confirm.
View 3 RepliesFord Excursion :: Vibration After Gear Swap Coming From The Front
Brought the truck home the other night after having the 4:88's and locker installed. At about 65mph plus I have a severe vibration that sounds like it's coming from the front. It's bad enough I can feel it in the floorboards.
After some research I'm thinking the drive shafts need to be balanced due to the increased speed they are now running at. The u joints are good and I trust the installer did a good job putting the gears in.
Factory gears were 3:73's. 7" of lift on 37's. Any other parts other than the drive shafts?
Ford Excursion :: Squeaking / Odd Grinding Coming From Front Brakes
Replaced both rear calipers about 4 months ago, both were frozen. A few weeks ago I started getting some bad squeaking from the front brakes. The front calipers seemed fine when I did the rears.
Tonight I had even more fun with the beast. Drove to my sons baseball game and felt an odd "grinding" when braking. *Seems* to be coming from the front. On the way home, the grinding was worse and then the fun really started. Hit the brakes and the wheels started hopping enough to shake the whole friggin' truck. Leaving from a light, you could feel the brakes stick and then release, next stop was more shake n bake.
Not sure where to start on this one.

View 2 RepliesGTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Vibration Coming From Front Left Wheel Area
I have an intermittent problem with vibrations coming from the front left wheel area. It vibrates my whole car to the point where I need to slow down to 30mph speeds. It usually occurs during extended periods of driving, but not always. When I am on the interstate driving and it happens, it works when I pull off to the shoulder and turn my wheel all the way to each direction multiple times. Is this an axle related problem? What other things should I look for?
One more thing to add. When this problem first started happening, I noticed that it would only happen when I was in gear and giving it gas. It would stop vibrating when I was coasting in neutral.
