View 8 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Leaking Coolant Hose?
How to identify this 'leaking' coolant hose? (cooler hose?), I took a picture with my cell ... It shows a stainless steel coolant line with calcified Dried/heater coolant residue on the outside, and I noticed it was leaking coolant (using a periscope mirror )...
View 3 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Coolant Leak From Hose?
I think that it is coming from the hose that connects right to the reservoir. I have wiped it clean a few times and it always seems to be seeping from that area under the hose where it connects to the bung. I replaced the OE hose clamp with a new one and put some electrical tape around the hose but it still leaks. It does make a slight hissing sound from the area as well when I pop the hood after a long ride, but only lets off a few drips. My guess is that I may have to replace that entire hose but that looks involved as it is attached to several others.
View 4 RepliesFord Excursion :: Transmission Line Clamp Failure Warning
I had a small leak from this line before my big trip to Moab pulling my bronco. I replaced the line and the clamp was the same as the stock one I pulled off. Made it out to Moab over the Rockies fine. On the return trip up the mountain about a mile from Eisenhower tunnel smoke came rolling out from under the Ex. Pulled ever quickly to find that line blew off. I had a couple small screw type hose clamps and put those on, filled up the tranny and was back on the road. Not sure but I think having a regular hose clamp on this would have been a good start.

I am playing with the idea of having my 2006 2.0t chipped. A Stage 1 is all I want, but I am concerned about the PVC hose busting due to increased boost.
I heard that later 2.0t's have improved PVC hoses. Mine is an 2006, but it is a late 2006 (build date 03/06). When did the improved PVC hoses get installed on the 2.0t's?

View 1 RepliesLexus GX 2004-09 :: Grease Splatter On The Frame / CV Boot Clamp Leaking
I noticed a little bit of grease splatter on the frame last night when I was changing the running board lights. The grease was coming out from the clamp, no ripped or torn boot.
Maybe one day I'll buy the special clamp and crimping tool but for now I used some silicone tape. It seals to itself and it doesn't leave a sticky residue if removed. If you use this tape make sure you stretch it and pull it really tight as you're wrapping it so it can seal to itself. I used some zip ties just in case.
Ford Brakes/Suspension :: Stabilizer / Sway Bar Clamp Part Number
What are the part numbers for the REAR Sway Bar Bushing Clamp to fit a 2004 F350 Dually w/ the dana 80 axle? This is the part that surrounds holds the bushing that encompasses the sway bar holding it to the axle itself.
Found out couple weeks ago that the front and rear bushings were different heights. Meaning the ones for the front sway bar bushings were taller and the ones in the back were shorter. I can find the part numbers for the front ones pretty easily but the rear ones is like searching for the holy grail. And yes I need the shorter rear ones.

Will this work for a 2004 1.8T? I know it says that its for the 2000-01 but it looks exactly like the one that goes on mine. Haven't checked the dealer to see how much they want for it but it will most likely be an arm and a leg.

View 2 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Oil Inside Intake Hose / Seal Leaking
195,000 miles on a 1.8T I removed the intake hose that connects the inter cooler to the throttle body and noticed a bit of oil inside the hose. I was guessing it may have come from the turbo due to a leaky seal, but this is strictly a guess. The car doesn't consume too much oil (maybe a quart or less between changes). What is the life expectancy for a turbo?
View 2 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Nut Size For Intercooler Boot Clamp?
just installed all my intercooler boots with plenum inserts. Had a torque wrench set at around 14 lb/ft and all of a sudden POP! the inside of nut on clamp stripped out. of course its on the boot going to the plenum. Any one have this happen? Brand new clamps from riff raff. Am I cranking to hard, maybe torque wrench isnt accurate, i don't know but didn't seem like i was getting on it enough to do that. the threads came out on the bolt looking like a heli coil. not to cool. Google it and another forum popped up , everyone was saying to crank em down. apparently you cant do that , not even 14 lb/ft. Anyways went to hd and threaded the bolt into their thread gauge. the only one that seemed to fit was 1/4-28 fine thread( which they don't carry in a nylon thread lock nut). Is this the correct size? How to gauge how tight to tighten the nut?
View 4 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2002 - Lower Coolant Hose Not Attached To Pipe
I have a 2002 V6 Passat Wagon. I am hemorrhaging coolant out of my lower coolant pipe. I can reach it put my finger in a feel the coolant coming out as fast as I pour it in. I can't see any way to get at the pipe from the top and I can't see the hose that should be attached there from the top. I assume this means the front end will need to be jacked up and go at it from the bottom. Also note the intake and return from the heater in my car is mexi fixed and looped together (no heat).
