Passat (B6) :: Battery Light On - AC Compressor Seized

The car is an '06 Passat 2.0T 83k. A few weeks ago my wife came home complaining that the battery light was on, when I lifted the hood I saw that the belt was shredded and later realized the compressor seized. I replaced the parts recommended; Compressor, condenser, etc., brought it to service station that does our fleet cars and had the system vacuumed and recharged. Now the compressor will not turn on, when I push the button on the dash it lights up but no a/c, the fans dont even come on comes on. The blower and all the related switches works but no power to the compressor. All the fuses are fine, and when the guy at the service station put power directly to compressor it comes on and works fine, he also said the pressure sensor/switch checks out fine. I even changed the controller on the dash, but nothing.

Honda - Cr-v :: Compressor Seized Up After Repairing Of A/C

Two weeks ago, I had a/c repairs done which involved the replacement of the a/c field coil unit and a condenser fan motor. Yesterday, the compressor seized up. Could the repair, if done incorrectly, have caused the part failure?

Subaru - Impreza :: 2009 - AC Compressor Seized

My ac compressor has seized up and now needs to be replace at a cost of nearly 2,000. Maybe I can go a few weeks with out it, but I will not be able to have heat or defrost as the colder temps come in for the fall. Why this would happen? 109K on the odometer. The mechanic also suggested that I change the timing belt and the water pump (neither are broken) replacing these is also expensive. am I crazy for not changing the timing belt and water pump?

Ford A/C :: Clutch Started To Smoke - Compressor Seized?

I just bought a 96 f250 5.8

Upon driving home, i tried the ac again and the ac clutch started to smoke. I replaced the clutch with one from autozone, but when I tried it again, it made a screaming death noise upon clutch engagement. Is my compressor seized?

I tried to turn the clutch (not the pulley, that spins fine) by tapping one of the slots and bolts with a screwdriver/hammer. It was firmly locked in place. If the compressor was OK, would it have turned easily? If I need to replace the ac pump, who sells a good/cheap/reliable one?

Subaru - Forester :: 2001 - Timing Belt Slip Out / AC Compressor Seized Up?

I have a 2001 Subaru Forester which has 165K miles. I had the timing belt changed at 105K per maintenance recommendations. I had the car in for service recently for brake pads, etc., and the dealer recommended replacing the drive belt for the AC.. which I did. 100 miles after this service, the car broke down unexpectedly. The dealer told us the AC compressor seized up... and this caused the drive belt to get caught on it and be shredded ... and with that, the sudden resistance from the drive belt on the crankshaft pulley caused the timing belt to slip out of sync and damage the interference design engine. Can that really happen? I surprised that this happened a few days after replacing a drive belt and wondered if somehow the service work done with the drive belt could have caused the problem. The dealer states the service work did not cause the problem. Is my recent service and damaged engine a coincidence as the dealer said or are they related?

Passat (B5) :: Brakes Seized On The Freeway - Pedal Barely Go Down When Pressed

This morning my brakes seized up on me on the freeway. I noticed it when I pressed the brake pedal and I it would barely go down. Then, I could smell the brakes. I pulled over and there was a strong smell from the brakes and I couldn't press the brake peddle down any. I waited a while and let the brakes cool off and then they were fine. I got the rear brakes replaced at the dealership earlier this year.

Passat (B5) :: AC Compressor Will Not Engage

The AC in my 2004 V6 4-matic wagon has not worked since the dealer had it in their shop last. Coincidentally, neither does the outside temp display on the dash. I tried one of those recharge kits with the cans but the pressure guage registers 90 PSI when I hook it up, more than enough according to the instructions. So it seems the system is charged and it looks like the compressor will not engage. Could the temperature problem and the AC be related? Manual says it only kicks in when the outside temp is hot enough so I figure how will it know if its hot enough if the temp probe is not working? (unless there is another probe somewhere) ...

Passat (B6) :: AC Compressor Tied Up / Hot Air Comes On

I bought my early b6 in january and now that it's getting warm I tried the A/C an nothing but hot air comes out. I took it over to my brother shop and he said the compressor is tied up. These things aren't cheap! With 61k on the clock I doubt that the dealer would cover it.

Passat (B5) :: AC Compressor Would Switch Off When Car Stopped

My AC is no longer running. Last summer it would struggle to get cold, but when in motion it did pretty well - just not freezing cold. Last few weeks it seemed like the compressor would switch off when stopped. Then past week, I hit the AC button (light comes on, fan switches to low, and the relay clicks) but it sounds like the AC compressor isn't engaging. The dryer is frosty to the touch, but the low and high ports in the bay are warm/hot. I checked the pressure and it was through the roof. I vented some (I know I know) out, but all that came out mostly was air with a bit of the refrigerant squirt once or twice during the vent. Still no success. Should there be air coming out of the low pressure port?

Passat (B5) :: No AC / Compressor Will Not Click On / Fuse Ok

I have an '04 Passat and my AC did not come on this Spring. I had it checked out and the charge is up to normal on the refrigerant but the compressor will not click on. The compressor fuse is also ok. I have access to a Vag Com that my dad has and I'm wondering if that does any diagnostic test further troubleshooting what the problem might be.

Passat (B5) :: 2000 - AC Compressor Makes Squealing Noise

All was fine with it until a month or so ago. Now, after the car is first turned on and the AC is turned on, it makes a terrible squealing sound. The moment the AC is turned off it stops. If the AC is left on, it will generally make the noise for a good 20 seconds, stop, and then repeat that a couple more times(and the noise will cease for as long as the car is on).

I popped the hood and took a look (I'm assuming the compressor is on the lower left), and when the AC is off it spins fine. However, when the AC is turned on, the fan starts up, then it visibly stops spinning and really struggles to spin, causing the noise. Do I need a new compressor?

Golf V R32 :: AC Not Working Due To ECM Tune?

AC would blow cold from time to time and not work other times, I tried a recharge and it did nothing to fix the issue so when I took it in for the 40k service I had them take a look at it and they told me that the tuning of my ECM is causing the AC to not work properly! I have the UM tune for flex fuel.

Golf IV R32 :: UM E85 Tune Malfunction

I have the VF-stg II s/c kit with a UM E35 tune, it seems to have a problem mapping or something when in Launch control mode. If I don't turn off the Launch control before I start driving it will cut rpm's around 3k then kick back in after it thinks for a second, also the engine light comes on/ flashes when the power cuts out. It does this especially hard when going from first to second. It does have no lift shift, but not lifting off the gas when shifting doesn't stop the engine cough.

Should also mention that the launch control doesn't seem to work all the time, only once in a while, will the engine max the revs at 3k on start like it's supposed to when LC engaged.

Currently I have a warning light for Performance malfunction in cooling system, which is also confusing because I have replaced both my CTS and Thermostat , however whether or not the MIL is on the LC doesn't work correctly (I clear the code when it comes back) seems intermittent as I can drive a week or so before it comes back on.
