Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Can't Lock Up The Tires After Brake Replacement
Driving a 2003 GTI
My girlfriends dad and I just recently replaced my pads, rotors, and bled the brakes. He is a journeyman mechanic however he does not see a lot of cars, he mostly works on trains.
Short version is after this replacement I am able to press the peddle to the floor and not lockup or engage the ABS. Before with the old worn brakes this would be no problem to do. We tried bleeding a little more off the brakes to see if there was some air. no bubbles came out. he insists there's lots of brake power. I just find it odd that i can press the pedal to the floor board and not lock up the tires, or feel like i have any real emergency stopping power.

I had a 03 trailblazer ltz; last week while driving low speed ( 30 hm-50 km ) ,the rear tires had locked, and sliding, but the engine didn't stop and steering wheel didn't lock.I restarted the engine but the transmission at D , it didn't work. When the transmission changed at R ,and after that at D i can drive it. Nowadays i'm hearing noise from left rear tires like turning shaft. Before that i jumped from the ramp while fast, because of that the sound began.
After that, this issues have began. Yesterday while I'm driving at low speed it happened again. When I pass the 30 kmh the sound are too loudly come from rear tires. I Checked that but nobody can find the issue. I check the hand brake parts, because i didn't work. but yesterday it made it again.
Is it possible to being after jump from speed bump ?? Because i passed it fast and jumped. After that, the sounds began.( i think it's like a rolling sth. ). I used the car about 2 weeks after that and never used about two weeks. Now i can drive it ,but sounds always there.last time i drived it on flat road,no brake and sounds came like squeezing sth. And the transmission no longer to be useful, but the car can still in idle ,it never stopped the engine and never give me an alert.
While slow down, I changed transmission to park, and changed to reverse.so ,i can drive it,but sound always there.there are no oil under the car.after first time the dealer said '' your problem is parking brake shoe ''. Because parking brake shoe come away from it's location. He corrected, but sounds still there. After 2 days, it made it second time. So it is on park now ....
Touareg :: Squeaks And Rattles / Handbrake Rear Shoes Disintegrated
My Treg is in the shop at the moment to have some squeaks and rattles looked at - and I was expecting to get it back on Monday this week. However, was told on Tuesday by the garage that the engineers had discovered that the rear handbrake shoes had completely disintegrated and that they needed to replace them. Now
a) I don't make a habit of driving around with the handbrake on, and
b) my car has only done 6,000 miles
So what's going on? To cap it all, the parts are on back-order from Germany. Which means it will likely be two weeks before I get my car back. This is starting to get on my nerves. It feels like my Treg is in the garage more than out of it and I'm beginning to regret my purchase.
Camry 2012+ :: Wheel Fitment / Rear Tires Are Choppy Causing Noisy Driving
I might be buying a 14 Camry tomorrow. I test drove it the other day and had it looked at by belle tire. They said the rear tires are choppy causing noisy driving. On the highway it sounds really noisy in the front of the vehicle. Everything else checked ok on the inspection but I was trying to find some wheels that will fit the Camry. 5x114 which my parents have a 95 lexus es300 that has 5x114 wheels. Although the tires are 205 65 15. Do I could put those on and will they clear everything to be able to fit?

A day before 3 yr service and MOT test on 7 seat 2011 Santa Fe, a noise from the rear offside wheel. Advised the garage to check and they discover the handbrake shoes were detaching from their mountings, not wearing out but detaching. This has apparently happened before causing someone's wheel to lock up and the vehicle recovered to the garage.
Strange that the same garage has seen it before so it must be happening elsewhere.

handbrake=parking brake
MOT = annual government safety test
Shoes = pads / linings

Golf IV R32 :: Handbrake Holds The Car
Guess my cables have stretched. I just adjusted my handbrake cables and I noticed no matter how strong I apply the handbrake and it holds the car however on both driver's and passenger side the outside pad does not touch the rotor. I'm guessing that the inside pad moves and holds enough, however, i would like the brakes to operate properly. when is the handbrake applied should both pads apply pressure to the rotor?
View 9 RepliesCorolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Drove With Handbrake Engaged - Creaking Sound Coming From Rear
The issue is I drove a few km's with the handbrake engaged in my moms 2nd gen matrix. I reasoned that it was showing me the exclamation mark and beeping to tell me the fuel was REALLY low, so I assumed it was going so hesitant to go to save gas...............
I drove a few km's slowly, and when I got to my street I stepped on the gas as a "hell yeah I made it", only to come out the car to see the rear brakes smoking all over the place.
Only about 20 minutes after I came home I realized what happened, (don't even ask what my reasoning for breaks smoking was this time) went and disengaged the handbrake, but now about 5 hours later I just saw my mom leaving in the car and there was a slight creaking sound coming from what seemed to be the rear.
Could the handbrake being engaged for another 20-30 minutes after the breaks getting so hot from all the friction potentially WELD the drums to the other part of the brakes? I hope I didn't mess up the wheels or the parts they are sitting on.
Ford - Ranger :: Rear Wheels Lock While Driving
After a transmission flush, my husband's Ford Ranger rear wheels have locked when backing out of the garage; pulling out of a parking spot; and driving down a hill.
He had checked the transmission fluid level, and it was a little high. The shop drained it down to where it should be, said the fluid was discolored, and sent him on his way. But it has happened again since then.
Golf IV R32 :: Rear Tires Starting To Cup Along The Inner Edge And Noisy At 20 / 40 Mph

View 7 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Rear Tires Wearing Fast
I'm trying to figure out why I am having problems with my read tires wearing fast. I knew my car was out of alignment and took it to a shop and they told me I have -1.05 negative toe and bad camber.
Can some shims fix my issue or would I be better with a whole new rear beam. As far as I know the car has never been lowered, but how would I be able to tell?
Golf VI R :: Rear Tires Wearing Prematurely On Inner Edges?
About a week ago I had my car on a hoist getting new exhaust tips installed. At that time I noticed the rear tires are wearing prematurely on the inner edges. So are the fronts but not nearly as bad as the rears. I asked around and was told that this is normal for the factory Pirellis because of the negative camber built in to our cars. This being the reason the car corners so well. I understand the physics of this and I really like the way the car corners. My question is this---Can the negative camber be taken out of the car thusly reducing wear on the inner edges of the tires?? And how much will this be noticed while driving the car normally, and during spirited driving?? I have noticed that some fellows will purposely mod their cars with increased negative camber on the rear wheels, I'm assuming this is to achieve a certain "look".
View 5 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: 2012 - Air Bubble In The Sidewall Of Both Rear Tires
So I just got my 30k oil change done on my 2012 GTI and the dealer found an air bubble in the sidewall of both rear tires (Pirelli P Zero Nero). Luckily I bought a third party wheel and tire protection plan from the dealer where I purchased the car so the tires were covered. Tires were replaced and rotated to the front. Drove home the next day (all interstate travel), and woke up the next morning to find another bubble in the sidewall of the right rear (rotated from the front). 4th tire with a bubble since last August. I know this is an issue with low profile...
View 24 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Hearing Sound Like Rear Tires Dragging Over Gravel And Sticking
My car is not my daily and I only hear the sound after it's been sitting for a day or so, at low speeds right when I pull out of my driveway, I hear what sounds like the rear tires dragging over gravel and "sticking," the sound is more pronounced the sharper I turn. As I go a mile or so down the road and make turns, the sound goes away. I don't notice any vibrations or clinking sounds.
View 2 RepliesGolf V R32 :: Doors Will Lock And Unlock Rapidly While Driving
So lately when im driving my doors will lock and unlock at rapid fire and even though it only happens sometimes its getting really annoying. So when i took the car in for an oil changed i asked the tech to look at it, they said it was a module in the door that would need to be replaced for $375. I was wondering if there was a way to just shut of the lock feature when u reach a certain speed and the unlock feature when you stop? i think that would fix the problem

View 3 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Rear Passenger Door Does Not Lock At All
My wife and I just noticed today in our 2010 GTI that the rear passenger door does not lock at all. It does not matter if I use the remote or the one on the drivers door. Also when I use the remote, the alarm sets but when the back door is opened it doesn't go off.
View 2 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Rear Hatch Won't Lock?
For 6 months of ownership, the rear hatch apparently has never been locked. I can lock all other 4 doors, expect the latch apparently won't lock by itself. and I can't physically lock it with the key as it looks like the lock is seized. What are my options? Do I have to get a used rear hatch or is there someway of locking it from the inside?
Looking at some videos online, it looks to be that the actuator motor in the trunk could be the possible culprit?
Golf V R32 :: Rear Hatch Lock Not Responding To Fob Button
Rear hatch lock not responding to fob button, nor in-door switch.
If there is a fuse, I don't see it on the fuse map. Does stick open imprecisely when using the emblem, but little tricky. Where/which fuse?
