Prius (2004-09) :: Front And Rear Driver Side Tires Wearing On Outside Edge
The front and rear driver's side tires are wearing on the outside edge. Searching about, I find that camber problems are indicated with outside edge wear -- but....
View 19 RepliesCamry 2012+ :: Wheel Fitment / Rear Tires Are Choppy Causing Noisy Driving
I might be buying a 14 Camry tomorrow. I test drove it the other day and had it looked at by belle tire. They said the rear tires are choppy causing noisy driving. On the highway it sounds really noisy in the front of the vehicle. Everything else checked ok on the inspection but I was trying to find some wheels that will fit the Camry. 5x114 which my parents have a 95 lexus es300 that has 5x114 wheels. Although the tires are 205 65 15. Do I could put those on and will they clear everything to be able to fit?

View 2 RepliesAvalon 2005-12 :: Left Tires (only) Have Exaggerated Outer Edge Wear
2011 Limited. 44867 miles.
Today when I rotated all five Turanza tires (RF > SP, RR > RF, SP > RR, swap L, as per the manual), I noticed the left tires (only) have exaggerated outer edge wear. All three from the right have even wear.
Wifey says it's because I weigh 400 lbs (181kg) and am generally driving alone. When I'm not alone, my passengers are all normal weight. This would be the first time in my life my weight cause uneven wear to tires.
By the way, these tires are LOUD on certain road surfaces.
Golf VI R :: Noisy Rear Differential / Balancer?
Any troubleshooting tips on determining where the noise is coming from at the rear of the car? There is a pretty audible hum at 55 mph coming from the rear of the car and I am not sure if its the balancer or the diff. I'm reading horror stories of improperly serviced rear diffs causing the diff to fail and starting to freak out.
View 10 RepliesGolf/GTI VII :: Rear View Camera Noisy?
In my 6 day old Golf TSI, I'm noticing the rearview camera is quite noisy when it deploys and retracts. I don't recall how it sounded during test drives, but I'm surprised I can hear it at all, let alone as loudly as it seems.
Likely normal, but thought I'd post this up to see what others are experiencing. Might drop by the dealership and check another one out for comparison.
Touareg :: Tires Have Become Extremely Noisy
I still have the original Pirelli Scorpion tires on my 2010 Touareg (30,100 Miles). For the last year or so the tires have become extremely noisy. Before the warranty expired I made the dealer check to make sure there is nothing wrong with the wheel bearings or the drive train and of course they told me everything is fine. I had an alignment done about 3,000 Miles ago since the tires showed a little uneven wear.

View 14 RepliesSubaru - Tires - Legacy - Wheels :: 1999 - Tire Rotation / Noisy And Chopped
My rear tires (Nokian) on my Subaru Legacy 1999 all wheel drive car are noisy and chopped after only 18,000 miles (tires were in front for 4,000 miles; at that point I had to get two new tires which were put in front). My mechanic does not recommend rotation so they haven't been rotated. No, I don't know why. So now they are chopped but have lots of tread.

I'm trying to figure out why I am having problems with my read tires wearing fast. I knew my car was out of alignment and took it to a shop and they told me I have -1.05 negative toe and bad camber.
Can some shims fix my issue or would I be better with a whole new rear beam. As far as I know the car has never been lowered, but how would I be able to tell?

View 24 RepliesGolf VI R :: Rear Tires Wearing Prematurely On Inner Edges?
About a week ago I had my car on a hoist getting new exhaust tips installed. At that time I noticed the rear tires are wearing prematurely on the inner edges. So are the fronts but not nearly as bad as the rears. I asked around and was told that this is normal for the factory Pirellis because of the negative camber built in to our cars. This being the reason the car corners so well. I understand the physics of this and I really like the way the car corners. My question is this---Can the negative camber be taken out of the car thusly reducing wear on the inner edges of the tires?? And how much will this be noticed while driving the car normally, and during spirited driving?? I have noticed that some fellows will purposely mod their cars with increased negative camber on the rear wheels, I'm assuming this is to achieve a certain "look".

So I just got my 30k oil change done on my 2012 GTI and the dealer found an air bubble in the sidewall of both rear tires (Pirelli P Zero Nero). Luckily I bought a third party wheel and tire protection plan from the dealer where I purchased the car so the tires were covered. Tires were replaced and rotated to the front. Drove home the next day (all interstate travel), and woke up the next morning to find another bubble in the sidewall of the right rear (rotated from the front). 4th tire with a bubble since last August. I know this is an issue with low profile...

My car is not my daily and I only hear the sound after it's been sitting for a day or so, at low speeds right when I pull out of my driveway, I hear what sounds like the rear tires dragging over gravel and "sticking," the sound is more pronounced the sharper I turn. As I go a mile or so down the road and make turns, the sound goes away. I don't notice any vibrations or clinking sounds.
View 2 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Very Noisy After Starting When Cold Outside
Well its the coldest this SF has endured while in my barn. It was -23C last night or early this morning went we got up. -19C now but it doesn't warm up with a slight change sitting outside. I started it ok but these newer vehicles sure make a lot of whining and other noises when its this cold until they run for a minute they quiet down.
My old Grand Cherokee was a lot quieter even with near 300k on it it. But my wife's Jeep Compass a 2009 made enough noises as well. Both have synthetic oil in them. I just don't like hearing all that and wonder what its like for you that are in much colder climate with your SF since -30 to -40C is common in other parts of Canada in the Winter. Just curious because it cannot be good and the PS pump must be one of the complainers I am sure.
Prius V :: Repairing Dent On The Rear Edge Door?

View 13 RepliesPrius V :: Rear Door Trailing Edge Collects Dirt
Just back from a 300 mile run back in light to moderate rain. Car performed beautifully running probably 95% at speeds of 70 or 65. 45MPG with a/c on and cruise where I could. Considering the added drag of plowing through water, I figure that is pretty good especially since I was not driving to maximize MPG, I was anxious to get there and into my own bed.
Got home and went to unload it and noticed a band of dark dirt perhaps 1" wide on both rear doors conforming to the rear edge of the door just forward of where the door edge meets the door pillar.
Was never off road or in a construction zone. Doors were closed normally. Rest of car clean except for a few bugs that were fatally attracted to the lights.
Is this typical? Or a sign of misalignment? Caused by some air being evacuated from the car's interior?
