Ford - Mountaineer :: 2008 - Coolant Smell In Exhaust / Steam Coming From Driver Side Firewall Area

So the wife's 08 Mountaineer 4.6 likes coolant. None in the crank case. I suspect head gasket, since I can smell it a bit in the exhaust, but I have also noticed steam coming from the drivers side firewall area, but can't see anything. If it is head gaskets, am I pulling the engine? If I have to pull the engine.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Ticking Sound During Cold Start Engine Warm Up - Exhaust Leak

5.0 coyote exhaust leak .. Since the cold weather has arrived i have noticed a new noise. During cold start engine warm up I hear a nice little tick-tick-tick which sounds to me like an exhaust leak. Is this a common problem? I have just over 58,000 miles would this be covered under powertrain or do they have some nice exclusions for exhaust?

Ford - Mountaineer :: 2004 - Running Rough - CEL On - Ticking?

Mountaineer started running rough couple of weeks ago with engine flashing. Had codes read, got codes P0306 and P0316. I changed the coil pack of cylinder 6, engine light went away but still running rough. Decided to change all plugs. Found cylinders 2 and 3 filled with oil so I changed the valve cover gasket. Put back together, still running rough and ticking. Pulled every coil pack and metered them.

Every one reads .6 ohms across terminals and 5.6k from each terminal to spring. I'm assuming this indicates a good coil pack. I also metered the one that I took out and it reads the same. I've also looked for vacuum line leaks and listened but found none. The engine is rocking pretty bad and the exhaust comes out in the pattern of the "misfiring". Went to see if Autozone could read a code without the engine light on but they read "no codes".

Ford - Mountaineer :: 2000 - Ticking Or Knocking Sound On Fuel Rail

I have used a wooded stick to locate a ticking or knocking noise on my fuel rail. I can't hear anywhere else on the motor. I took it to a mechanic and he told me it was the timing chains and guides. Sometimes it is very loud and other times it barely noticeable. 191k miles so I am not going to spend $ rebuilding the front of the motor. Just want to be sure it is what he says before I scrap it out.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: New Exhaust / Sound Under Load And At Cold Start

So I finally went and put the exhaust I had been wanting on my truck. Pretty simple set-up. I had the factory muffler cut off and a flowmaster 40 series on it previously. I liked the sound under load and at cold start but normal driving I could not tell a difference from a factory muffler. So I had the flowmaster removed. I still have 4 cats so it's not crazy but it is loud. The only time I have cackle is on initial start-up not even at WOT which was a pleasant surprise. I just like the look of a single exhaust but still want some sound. I have been gone awhile as I needed a little break from starting and also being drawn in to arguments.

Camry :: 2008 - Ticking Sound From Engine Bay When Cold

I recently purchased a 2008 Camry 4cyl with 50k miles on it, the car runs great however on colder mornings (near or below freezing) there seems to be a ticking sound coming from the engine bay. The noise matches engine rpm, it will disappear once the car has reached operating temps.

Ive poked around the forum a bit for "camry ticking or clicking when cold" and have found a few threads saying their toyota dealership told them it was normal and that even new camrys do the same noise when cold.

I'm a long time Sonata owner ( 2004 2.7L 291K miles) and recently purchased a 2008 3.3L Sonata with 40K miles and have a question about the 2008 3.3L. I've noticed a ticking sound when the car is cold. The ticking gets quiet between shifts, and eventually goes away once the car is warmed up.

Mercury - Mountaineer :: 2007 - Ticking Under The Hood Increases And Decreases With RPM

My parents have a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer, 100,845 miles. They change oil like a religion. It has under the hood ticking that increases and decreases with RPM. The ticking (tickity-tickity) sounds like when there is low oil. People have said,"You better put oil in there..."The oil is full. I can't tell if the sound is coming from inside the engine, or if something on the engine might be loose that is causing the ticking as the engine RPM changes. From what I can remember from auto shop in the 80's...it kind of sounds like valves/lifters.

Also, it has a strange road noise that I think is coming from the tires. It sounds and sort of feels like riding on knobby off road tires. I can put it in neutral and turn off the engine, and the noise remains and decreases as the speed does, so it is not from the engine.

Ford Exhaust System :: Exhaust Quieter When Cold / Much Louder When Warmed Up

My F150 exhaust seems rather quiet when I first start it up, but after it gets warmed up good, the exhaust is much louder (which I like). I started wondering if I had a crack up front that widened out when it got hot, so looked under it when I got home today with it hot and still idling, but didn't see any cracks. Also I did not hear any noise like a leak. All sound was coming from the side exit pipe. So... what is the phenomenon that would cause this?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Engine Ticking - Exhaust Leak?

As it says, I have a tick. It's not apparent at idle and increases with engine speed.

Just spent $570 having bellowed up-pipes installed and while a little quieter, the tick is still there. What else tends to go out on these things? Manifold(s) cracked, manifold gasket(s)? It's seen high EGT's quite a bit but not for longer than 20-25 seconds.
