Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: FX4 - Bed Bounce On Concrete
I have never owned a full size truck and I don't know what is normal. I found a nice 2003 FX4 Lariat with 104,000 miles. The truck was a one owner truck and spent most of its life in Mission Texas, and a short part of the time in San Diego. At any rate during the test drive I was really liking it, but then I merged onto a highway made of concrete--it was like riding on a washboard road. The bouncing was so bad that there was no way I would buy that truck, felt like an old hard tail Harley. I thought it was just bad shocks, as they were kind of bad, and the ride a little float-like, but then I found a few posts on bed bounce.
The manager said he would put new shocks on it and check the wheel balance. I told him I would do a little research and get back to him. The truck is nice for its age, but I could not handle that bounce, especially since California has so many concrete freeways. Is there any solution? I have read a few posts, but mosts were old, and offered no resolution. 2003 F-150 FX4...
Prius (2010-12) :: Wiggle On Grooved Concrete Highways
Driving down the highway I notice the car is fine on asphalt and any flat pavement but on grooved concrete highways I feel the car "wiggle" aka trammel. It has yokohama avids for tires on 15" rims and I am questioning if others have noticed this or if its my tires causing or should I look into suspension issues. This also happens on my Taurus which is heavier and bigger/wider tires and I know the suspension is tight on the taurus.

I need new tires for my Golf. Road noise has been an issue for me with this car--particularly on concrete highways. The front tires were replaced 60K miles ago with General Altmax HP. The back tires are the originals. Any recommendation for tires that will quiet my ride?

Since around 3 days.. i hear a grinding noise, while going in some kind of streets... highways or not so good roads.. this doesn't happens when I turn the car to left or right, it happens when I am going 30mph+....
Last night I checked rear shocks.. and one of them seems to have some oil leakage I am not really sure, but it has... some wet lines above it.. so I guess that's oil...
Dealership tested the car around 15 days ago, but this weird noise wasn't present.. although they order new rear shock and springs...
Lexus RC F 2015+ :: Slight Rattling Noise On Bumpy Roads And Highways
On bumpy roads, and on most highways, there is a slight humming/rattling noise to the bottom left hand side of the steering wheel. Its really only audible when there's no music on, which happens to be how I like to drive. I've tried pushing on some of the panels when i hear it, to see if it dampens the noise, but no leads so far.

So I've been hearing this vibration rattle or buzzing noise... on rough roads and overpasses in southern California. I've uploaded a video clip. At 4 seconds I enter the overpass... and you can hear the buzzing noise from 6 seconds to 9 seconds, you might need to raise the volume.
Is this a normal noise from overpasses? My old cars didn't do this. Also I can't tell where it's coming from, maybe the rear upper area or who knows, could be the license plate for all I know.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 - Squeak / Jingle Noise Like Washers In A Bag While Driving Over Uneven Bumpy Roads
My 11 f150 started to make a jingle noise like washers in a bag while driving over uneven bumpy roads. Normal highways are fine and it does it turning or going straight. Seems to be coming from drivers side. I replaced the swaybar link ends with moogs. Didbt fix the problem. I also removed the bushings abd lubed them with white lithium grease. Still the same sounds on the same conditions. I did t replace the bushings with new ones. I still have a extended warranty on the truck. Might take it in...
View 1 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Rear End Hop / Bounce - Vibration Above 65 MPH
I purchased a used 2008 F150 with 62,000 miles. The truck is in excellent condition and is a crew cab with the short bed and the 4.6 v8 engine. I changed the 17 inch wheels to a set of Ford 18 inch wheels with Goodyear tires that came off another 2008 F150( XLT model). The tires had less than 15,000 miles on them. Since that time I have replaced 3 of the 4 tires because I could not get the tires to balance out properly. I have had all the tires and wheels balanced with the road pressure balance and the front and rear end have both been aligned.
I cannot get the RIGHT REAR of the truck to keep from bouncing and hopping at almost any speed. It changes from day to day a little bit but while slowing down I get the hop vibration( when I apply my brakes) and while at speed ( mostly 45-55) and above 65 I can constantly feel the truck vibrating. It is apparent it is the right rear. I took it back to the dealership where I bought it used , they could not find any issue. At some time, the rear cover to the rear end has been taken off but I cannot find any information through normal channels as to why.
I was by the shop that balanced the tires it is a Goodyear problem. All I know is that I cannot enjoy my ride due to this very apparent hop/bounce from the rear end. The alignment shop said they could not do anything more to make it better. Is there a FIX to this? Is it a problem with this model truck? The truck has 69,000 miles on it now.
Touareg :: Steering Wheel Vibration At 70 Mi/h On Relatively Smooth Highways
So far my pos 04 v8 has had a stepper motor changed, CD changer replaced and 4 new tires at 12000 miles! It's in the shop now for a new airbag harness
The steering wheel vibrates at speeds above 70mph on relatively smooth highways (my Wrx and the crappy Jetta rental I drove today showed no vibration to 90 mph on the same road.). The vibration is slight, but definitely there and noticeable if you take your hands off the wheel not a great way to drive at 75mph.
The dealership says they found no problem with steering wheel vibration.
My question is: is some vibration normal in this vehicle, given vehicle size, tire size, and crappy construction? I'm just not used to seeing any based on the Japanese cars I've always driven.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Pronounced Bounce At 42 MPH / Annoying Vibration At 67 MPH
2001 F150 2WD 4.6 102,000 miles.... All rotors and pads replaced by a shop and the trouble began. The shop swore it was my tires and like a dummie I took it to Sams and had my tires replaced.
What's been done? New BFG Long Trail T/A Touring Tires, rotors and pads were replaced a second time, new Monroe shocks and the shocks were replaced a second time, new U-joints, front wheel bearings repacked, ball joints inspected and have slight wear, new driveshaft at 20,000 miles, two new rims, two new back tires of same type, wheels balanced over and over with road force equipment. All this got rid of a dangerous shake at 67 mph but did not affect the 42 mph bounce.
I now have a pronounced bounce at 42 mph. I have an annoying vibration at 67 mph that is present 97% of the time and an occasional smooth ride for 3-4 miles on the interstate before the vibration resumes. The ride is always rough until the tires warm up. I think the vibration is caused by the road and the truck can't stop it, but I'm not sure. Three shops are scratching their heads.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Annoying Vibration / Bounce Between 45 And 50 MPH
I recently bought a 2006 F250 Super Duty, 4X4, 6 liter diesel. My issue is that I have an annoying vibration/bounce between 45 and 50 mph. I thought it may have been a tire out of balance, but even after replacing all 4 tires and rear brake pads the vibration is still there.
View 5 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Vibration Coming From Trunk Area At Highway Speeds On Concrete Roadways
2012 Prius Five- Had an annoying vibration coming from the trunk area at highway speeds- especially on concrete roadways. First thought was the problematic rear license plate/frame that I've read about- so I used some felt pads around the rear plate & frame but still had the annoying vibration ad highway speeds. Over the weekend I had some spare time so I started poking around in the trunk area by rapping in several areas with a heavy hand till I heard the same (or similar frequency) vibrating sound.
Eventually I was able to isolate it to somewhere under the rear deck. I removed the carpet, then plastic deck then even the spare, etc., Found it was actually coming from the sheet metal box that surrounds the connections coming from the car and relays to the hybrid battery box. Seems the metal edges of that small connections/relay enclosure were just touching the battery box metal enclosure just lightly enough to vibrate under certain conditions. But how to fix?
To make a long story short- I disconnected the 12v battery, removed the black exhaust duct over small metal cover, removed the battery cooling fan intake shroud, then two annoying orange lock rivets, then a few 10mm nuts and one 10mm bolt- and finally the metal connection/relay cover came off.
Once off- I used black electric tape to line every seam where that metal cover touched the battery box metal cover or car frame- I then lined the battery box metal cover the same way in the areas where the connection/relay cover mated on it. Reassembly was the reverse of disassembly. Upon ride to work this morning- vibration was 100% gone- fixed!
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Vibration With AC On
I have a 2010 F150 Lariat 4x4 with the 5.4. It has around 63,000 miles on it. I purchased this truck last winter and recently have noticed a pretty heavy vibration when the AC is running. It only vibrates when I am at a stop. If I apply a little throttle the vibration seems to go away or it goes away if I shift to neutral. The vibration is not violent but it is above average and I would definitely not consider it normal AC vibration.
View 14 RepliesFord F-150 (2009-2014) :: Vibration Between 35 And 45 Mph
I have a 09 s crew with 6 1/2' bed also. Lariat, Max tow package (most of the cool toys) I bought it certified pre-owned in April of 2011.
My vibration is between 35 and 45 mph. Not felt in the steering wheel but all the seats feel it. Set the cruise at 40 mph and it will drive you nuts.Dealer has had it a couple days for this and all they have found was a sticky rear u-joint.
I am at 35,500 miles so I am thinking about just dropping it off and saying keep it till you find the problem.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 - Vibration At 75 / In 6th?
My 2011 3.7 CC seems like it is missing at speed.
If I am around 75 or so in 6th is vibrates, but downshifting to 5th or 4th seem to take it away.
I am going in tomorrow and have the tires rotated and balance, but I think it is somewhere else. It has a little over 42,000 miles
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Vibration At 60 - 65 MPH While Towing?
I have a 2103 F150(5500 miles) and a 2013 Ranger Z522 bass boat( 23'-4800 lbs 3000 miles). I get that ole strange vibration between 60 and 65 when towing) My tire dealer balanced all 8 wheels for me. I tried to get my truck to do it by itself but did not notice. It does not do it all the time. I'm going to say about 1/2 the time it does it and then it will not. It only does it at that speed range which to me at one time was a wheel balance problem.
When it does it i can see the head of my trolling motor on my boat vibrate with it. I did try to give the truck a little power to see if it effects it. It did not. I did this because back in the 80's i had a truck that the drive shaft was a little out of balance. Power to the drive chain would effect it enough that you could notice. I've tried to get the truck to do it by itself but can't.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Vibration In Gas Pedal Happens Under Acceleration?
Every once in a while, I'll feel a vibration in the gas pedal. It happens under acceleration, and typically if I'm pushing down and it has not downshifted yet. Then once it downshifts the vibration is less noticeable.
I know there have been issues with the Electronic Throttle Control on these drive-by-wire trucks, particularly on the Super Duty trucks.
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 - Slight Vibration At 35 To 45 Mph
Just bought my 2013 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 on Saturday. I noticed a vibration at 35 to 45 mph. Its a slight vibration, the whole truck kind of shakes. Really annoying for a truck with less than 200 miles.

Vehicle has a vibration most prevalent when cold during a left turn especially first thing in the morning. Feels kinda like 4x4 is on, but its not.
Tech test-drove it and tells me it needs "clutch packs".
Has changing clutch packs to address this issue, and did it correct problem?
If I let him change them, am I in danger of screwing anything else up in the process?
& what the fuxa clutch pack anyway?
