Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Bounce And Vibration On Concrete Roads / Highways
We just bought a new 2013 F150 Platinum 4x2 with 5.5 bed. Love everything about it except that we have noticed it bounces and/or vibrates a lot on concrete roads/highways. Dealer admits this is an issue with truck, but won't admit any design flaw, and has suggested Bilstein shocks as well as putting 300+ lbs in the bed. We've heard from the Sales Rep, Svc Mgr and Svc Advisor that they've done similar things with their trucks to overcome this problem. Before we invest more $$$ into a fix, we are looking for any tried and true solutions from other like-truck owners.
View 8 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Pronounced Bounce At 42 MPH / Annoying Vibration At 67 MPH
2001 F150 2WD 4.6 102,000 miles.... All rotors and pads replaced by a shop and the trouble began. The shop swore it was my tires and like a dummie I took it to Sams and had my tires replaced.
What's been done? New BFG Long Trail T/A Touring Tires, rotors and pads were replaced a second time, new Monroe shocks and the shocks were replaced a second time, new U-joints, front wheel bearings repacked, ball joints inspected and have slight wear, new driveshaft at 20,000 miles, two new rims, two new back tires of same type, wheels balanced over and over with road force equipment. All this got rid of a dangerous shake at 67 mph but did not affect the 42 mph bounce.
I now have a pronounced bounce at 42 mph. I have an annoying vibration at 67 mph that is present 97% of the time and an occasional smooth ride for 3-4 miles on the interstate before the vibration resumes. The ride is always rough until the tires warm up. I think the vibration is caused by the road and the truck can't stop it, but I'm not sure. Three shops are scratching their heads.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Road Noise Particularly On Concrete Highways
I need new tires for my Golf. Road noise has been an issue for me with this car--particularly on concrete highways. The front tires were replaced 60K miles ago with General Altmax HP. The back tires are the originals. Any recommendation for tires that will quiet my ride?

2001 7.3 4wd srw ext cab auto 173,000 miles. Truck rides rough at certain speed. Worse at 45 mph. I have replaced tranny mounts, new Michelin tires, replaced aftermarket rims with rims that are correct and balanced.Transmission was rebuilt, works very good, I have receipt. This truck had 2" extenders on the hubs when I bought it,have since removed these, that worked with bounce issues. When I replaced tires I thought I had cured the issue but now after 1000 miles it is back. I am ready to just ride it out until it becomes worse and identifies itself. Tires needed replacing,so did tranny mounts,it is frustrating bouncing along not knowing if it could be an easy fix or not.
View 14 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 F250 Starts / Barely Bounce Off Zero RPMs And Die Out
I have a 2003 F250 with the 5.4 and I believe I am having a fuel delivery issue. I took out yesterday and stopped to get a drink at the gas station, came back out and the truck wouldn't start long enough to idle. It would start, barely bounce off zero rpms and die out. I checked the fuel interia switch and it was down. I tried turning the key back and forth thinking it might reset the fuel pump or something and that didnt work. I get the truck towed home and couldn't get it to start last night. I go out this morning and it starts, come home from work and now it won't. This happened about 2 years ago and I never did anything about it, but it took 2 years for it to happen again.
View 2 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Rough Idle About Every 30 Seconds At Low 700 Rpms And Bounce Up And Down A Little
Random rough idle about every 30 seconds at low 700s (rpms) and it'll bounce up and down a little. The code was p1515 (No CEL or other lights have come on yet) which is something about the intake manifold valve and there is an air-shooting noise that is pretty loud but just sounds like air that's being lost somewhere like maybe a leak and that happens when i rev right before you can hear the engine rev the air/shooting noise occurs. I don't really think I'm losing power but I got the car recently so maybe I am and don't notice it. If this is a common leak or something with the intake manifold valve let me know,
View 2 RepliesFord - Edge :: 2013 - Concrete Road Type Noise And Clicking
2013 Ford Edge... About a month ago the car started making a sound from the front, similar to the sound when you drive over a concrete bridge. This noise first pops up once you get to about 25mph. at 35 it gets very noticeable. Yesterday, for the first time when I hit 60mph it also began making a clicking sound.
This sound originally began out of the blue one day, from nothing to full blown and now as I stated above there is an added clicking noise. I had the car into the ford dealer a few weeks ago but they could not detect a problem/even hear the noise (it was raining heavily that day so I can understand how they would miss it). They did give me new tires/brakes, alignment, and refinished the rotors for other problems I was having. Again the noise was there before and after these changes.
Also, I guess I should add that again for the first time yesterday, as I was parking and coming to a stop there was a sound similar to a mechanical click/clank a few times coming from what sounded like the front left of the car, could this be a connection to the other sound?
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Truck Bucks Back And Forth On Certain Sections Of Concrete Interstate
I purchased a '15 KR cc sb some time back love the truck! It came with a leveling kit and tires were changed to Michelin 35's on stock rims.
The issue is that on certain sections of concrete interstate the truck "bucks" back and forth...a lot.
Prius (2010-12) :: Wiggle On Grooved Concrete Highways
Driving down the highway I notice the car is fine on asphalt and any flat pavement but on grooved concrete highways I feel the car "wiggle" aka trammel. It has yokohama avids for tires on 15" rims and I am questioning if others have noticed this or if its my tires causing or should I look into suspension issues. This also happens on my Taurus which is heavier and bigger/wider tires and I know the suspension is tight on the taurus.

I recently parked my 2013 Prius in a concrete parking structure near LAX for 8 days. When I returned, the battery was dead - car was completely nonresponsive. AAA had to "resync" the hybrid system along with jumper cables to get me going. The technician said it was because the concrete drained the battery. I have previously left the car in underground garages for longer periods of time with no problem. Is this an urban legend?
View 15 RepliesGolf/GTI VII :: 2015 - Bouncing On Highway When Concrete Is Just Slightly Wavy
I just picked up a new GTI and noticed it was riding very firm and bouncing on the highway so I took it into the dealer and they forgot to remove the strut pucks. Even though the pucks are gone it's still bouncing pretty severely when on the highway especially when the concrete is just slightly wavy. I don't mind a slight firmness over cracks and bumps but the strong bouncing on certain roads is unbearable. I only rode with the pucks in for about 500 miles but had problems with it bouncing uncomfortably?
I hope that nothing is wrong with the suspension but if this is how all GTI's are then I might have to trade it in for a jetta or something.

View 3 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Rear End Hop / Bounce - Vibration Above 65 MPH
I purchased a used 2008 F150 with 62,000 miles. The truck is in excellent condition and is a crew cab with the short bed and the 4.6 v8 engine. I changed the 17 inch wheels to a set of Ford 18 inch wheels with Goodyear tires that came off another 2008 F150( XLT model). The tires had less than 15,000 miles on them. Since that time I have replaced 3 of the 4 tires because I could not get the tires to balance out properly. I have had all the tires and wheels balanced with the road pressure balance and the front and rear end have both been aligned.
I cannot get the RIGHT REAR of the truck to keep from bouncing and hopping at almost any speed. It changes from day to day a little bit but while slowing down I get the hop vibration( when I apply my brakes) and while at speed ( mostly 45-55) and above 65 I can constantly feel the truck vibrating. It is apparent it is the right rear. I took it back to the dealership where I bought it used , they could not find any issue. At some time, the rear cover to the rear end has been taken off but I cannot find any information through normal channels as to why.
I was by the shop that balanced the tires it is a Goodyear problem. All I know is that I cannot enjoy my ride due to this very apparent hop/bounce from the rear end. The alignment shop said they could not do anything more to make it better. Is there a FIX to this? Is it a problem with this model truck? The truck has 69,000 miles on it now.
Prius C :: Sound Like Some Metal Dropping On Concrete When Stepped On Brake While Making Turns
I heard some weird sounds, it sounded like some metal dropping on concrete, when I stepped on the brake while making turns. I know in the manual it says "Sounds may be heard due to regenerative braking when the brake pedal is depressed." in P.28, but was the sound normal?
View 5 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Front End Bounce While Driving On The Freeway
I have a 2011 F250 6.7 XLT crew cab with just over 50,000 miles. A couple of weeks ago while heading to work I experienced a very violent Front end bounce while driving on the freeway. My Speed was around 55-70. I experienced this front end bounce on after hitting a patched portion of asphalt on the freeway. I lost complete control of my vehicle and had to slow down almost to a complete stop in order to regain control. When I got to work I checked my tires, wheels and under carriage. I found under abnormal. Well it happened again today. Again on my way to work I hit a bumpy stop in the road and experienced this "Death wobble" (youtube it). So I decided to take it to the dealer and have it looked at. On the way there it happened a couple more times.

When I'm speeding up or slowing down, right at about 37mph every time my front end starts bouncing and it's annoying. It's by no means severe, I just don't like it. I don't think it's as bad as what a lot of you are experiencing with the death wobble? Maybe it's just starting and will get worse?
Also, I'm experiencing a clicking noise almost as if something is loose under the front end when I hit bumps in the road or off road.. Not sure what that could be
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Annoying Vibration / Bounce Between 45 And 50 MPH
I recently bought a 2006 F250 Super Duty, 4X4, 6 liter diesel. My issue is that I have an annoying vibration/bounce between 45 and 50 mph. I thought it may have been a tire out of balance, but even after replacing all 4 tires and rear brake pads the vibration is still there.

My new Sonata Limited 2.4 has 17" wheels and Kumho tires. On certain rough concrete, or more often asphalt road surfaces, at highway speeds, this car is so noisy that one can hardly carry on a conversation. It's terribly loud. View 77 RepliesHonda - Accord :: 2002 - Metal Scraping Concrete Type Noise Coming From The Rear
So...I just took my car in last week to replace the TPS and noticed that the car is now making a weird sound when I reverse (out of parking spaces, etc). The sounds seems to be coming from the rear of the car the sound is similar to metal scraping concrete and happens intermittently. I'm wondering if this is a random coincidence or if this could be related to the recent work done on the TPS. If my brakes hadn't been completely replaced a year ago, I'd suspect it might be those. What could cause this sound?
