Ford Excursion :: Steering Box Adjuster Screw Jammed
I adjusted the slop out of my steering box according to this thread a couple days ago. Long story short I got the adjuster screw tightened down TOO far, probably when setting the locknut. Now the steering is unusually heavy and the steering wheel won't return to center on its own. Spent the last hour trying to go back the other way but I can't budge the allen head adjuster screw one bit. Locknut is plenty loose for it to turn, but the allen wrench is just flexing trying to turn it and it feels if I give it any more torque it's just going to strip out anyway. Is there anything I can try here to take the pressure off it so it'll turn or is the steering box now officially FUBAR?

I was asked these questions tonight, and realized I didn't know the answers. I have "E" load range tyres.
1. Does the Excursion use the metal valve stems like the other super duty's? Are these the press on type? or screw on?
2. What is the Valve Stem size?
Prius (2004-09) :: Removing Front Seats (drive And Passenger)
Looking for a video or directions on removing the front seats (driver and passenger) so that I can take them out of the car and give them a very thorough cleaning. Possible with a hose on a sunny day so they dry fast. I couldn't find it under the search option.
View 5 RepliesFord Excursion :: 2nd Row Seats Won't Lift Up
I bought a used 2001 Excursion. Neither of the middle row 60/40 bench seats will lift up.
The 60% (wider) bench seat lifted fine a week ago. Then I installed two car seats above them, drove it for a week, and when I took them out and tried to lift that bench seat, it seems stuck. I pull up on the lever, but the seat won't lift.
The previous owner re-upholstered the seats before I bought it, and there is no opening in the new upholstery for it even to latch into the base. So I'm very confused how it could be locked.
Similar story for the other 40% (smaller) seat. We actually just lifted this seat up and cut out holes in the new upholstery so that it could lock into the base. And when we finally pushed it down and heard it lock, after that we could not get it to lift. We pull the latch up and hear it unlock, and we can feel underneath that it is unlocked. Yet the seat will not lift.
I'm pulling with all my strength, but the seats are stuck.
Ford Excursion :: 2002 - Bad Velcro On 2nd Row Seats?
My 02 X limited has velcro to hold up the panels behind the 2nd row seats. It has been abused by a previous owner and will not keep the panels up. It makes the 3rd row unusable. Tried some new glue backed velcro but that lasted about 10 minutes.

So here I am driving away for the fuel station and then the tranny tries to shift and I hear and feel a loud clunk followed by no power. I have had no previous issues with the tranny but I believe it has not had any previous work done. The truck is an 02 7.3L with 200500 miles. I am guessing the torque converter is the culprit it still had very little forward motion when I tried to move the truck didn't matter what gear I was in. I intend to have the tranny beefed up but don't intend to go crazy. I do tow an 11,000 lbs TT on a fairly regular basis and have a PHP 6 position switch which can be set for as much as 120 hp from stock but don't do any hot rodding. I am mostly just looking to beef it up and provide as much strength towing.

View 2 RepliesFord Excursion :: Removing Exhaust Hangers?
Tip for searching for "how to remove ford exhaust hangers" - these items are now among my most hated items. Very easy to install with a little lube on the hanger, but removing them especially while they are installed on a the truck is a major PITA! Spent forever today trying to pry them off and it finally dawned on me how to remove them easily. Thought I would share.....use a pitman arm puller or similar puller. Mine fit perfectly and made removing several of these (more than once) much easier.

View 10 RepliesFord Excursion :: Shuddering - Ignition Coil Or Torque Converter
Need to diagnose:
- Truck idles a little rough sounds a little like " puff , puff ", when put in reverse - still sounds the same ( looping hesitation )
- When accelerating feels pretty good until about 40-45 then it starts to shake , shudder and loose power. Shakes and shudder pretty violently.
Did a full ATF fluid service - no improvement
Aside from that it does not seem to have any other shifting issues at all. Problem is intermittent. Throughout the day it may run fine, and then at another point in the day it runs like poop when hitting 45+.
Could it be a bad Ignition Coil Pack ? Car has ZERO codes appearing - would either TC or COP set one off ?
Here is a pic of the one COP that I found does have a crack on the top ( passenger side ) - not sure if that could cause the truck to act the way it does.
Ford Excursion :: Removing Of Roof Rack Rails?
Just got a mild lift done on my Ex and still wanting to park it in the garage.
If I remove the useless rails and cross bars that looks like it's still a possibility.
What to fill the holes with? Just torx screws? Anything else I need to do to prevent water leakage?
Ford Excursion :: Removing Rear Vent Window?
My passenger side rear vent window is leaking and I was gonna redo the weather stripping but I can't figure how to release the latch from the motor. It looks like a ball and socket type connection with a little wire clip in it, but I tried pulling it out and it wouldn't come out very far, and tried pushing in in more but no luck. I don't want to break the darn thing for sure.

View 14 RepliesFord Excursion :: 2005 - Removing FICM Relay - Location?
I have a 2005 6.0 and a FICM tuner from PHP. I need to remove the FICM relay so I don't fry injector 1 (I think that what it is). Anyway, I've done a lot of reading and can't seem to figure out which relay it is. The instructions say the relay closest to the passenger front, but also say almost always grey. So, The grey relay is passenger toward firewall. The directions also say that the injectors will not buzz if removed. I took each out and still had injector buzz. Tried again tonight, truck is hot, just been driven. I pulled the grey relay and turned key to on. Buzzed for just a second then stopped but did the same for the other relay and same when put back in.
View 3 RepliesFord Excursion :: Removing Wires From Under Hood Fuse / Relay Box
Well, it's starting to look like I may have to build my underhood harness from bits of multiple harnesses. I found a 2000 Excursion harness, but the engine plugs and wires were hacked off during engine removal.
After in-depth study of wire diagrams, it looks like I can just get a pickup harness and combine it with the aforementioned damaged Excursion harness to get what I need- and do it for about 50 bucks.
I also notice that there are a few Ebay sellers who just sell the fuse/relay box with the wiring harness hacked off of it. So my question is- how do you remove the wires (including the terminal ends) from the fuse/relay box? I've fiddled around with my burned up parts and can't seem to figure it out.
