Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: No Boost - P2290 Code For Low Injection Control Pressure
My 05 excursion died on me a couple weeks ago. First it threw a p2290 code for low injection control pressure. It did this a few months ago and had no problems. Cleared code and did not come back until now. So I cleared the code. Drove a few more miles and lost all boost pressure. Still fires up and runs. It does run a bit rough but only a little bit.
I replaced the oil cooler, did egr delete, and put an IPR remote oil cooler and full flow coolant filter on it few months ago. Since it died i pulled the ipr valve and it looked good. I put a new screen o-rings, and wiring pigtail on it since it was out. Put back together and still no boost. I really did not figure that would fix the boost issue but i wanted to make sure the screen was not clogged or torn.
Truck will fire up cold and warm with no problem and run. The hose from the map sensor to manifold is good and i put new clamps on it.
2005 6.0 with 95,000 miles.
ICP duty cycle = 0.29
map kpa = 102
Injection control pressure = 5.91 MPA
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Engine Light On And Code P2285 - Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Low
Engine light came on yesterday and started missing on take offs. Giving code p2285 Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Low. I've done the research and understand the problem. It's the weekend and shops closed until Monday. Is it safe to drive in the mean time? Is there any risk of doing damage? What's the risk of it quitting or failing start in the short term, today?
View 2 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2006 F250 Error Codes - Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Intermittent
I bought my truck 2 month ago. I use it for commuting, only short trips now ( 10 min ). After about 2 weeks the Check Engine light came on. The truck is running fine, no problems I believe, starts easy. After another 2 weeks, the CEL disappeared. Another week, and the CEL came back on and it`s there since. I have a code reader, these are the codes and meanings according the manual:
P0299 - Turbocharger "A" underboost condition
P2286 - Injector control pressure sensor circuit high
P2287 - Injector control pressure sensor circuit intermittent
P0299 Pending - same as first but with "pending" status
This is my first diesel and my first turbo charged engine. Is this a common problem? How serious? It`s a bit strange that the error came up before but disappeared. Can that happen just because of the short trips I`m making? I`m planning a long trip soon with towing my trailer, so I want to make sure the truck will not break down during the ride.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Long Crank Start And No Oil Pressure When Warm - Codes P2290 And P2291
As the title says I am suddenly having a long crank when starting and low oil pressure when when warm (above approximately 100 degrees). IPR goes to 85% when cranking. Stored codes were P2290 and P2291. Other symptoms are low power and what sounds like a power steering pump with low oil whine and low power. (It is not power steering related however, I checked.) I pulled the oil filter and cranked engine and filter bowl filled in less than 10 seconds.
Oil did have a fair bit of air bubbles. Oil has 5000 miles and is Motorcraft 10w30 diesel. I have not added any since the last change. I do not have the new style pump so it's not the STC fitting. What my issue is? I do have AE if any other info is required. Particulars are in sig. The searches I have done combined with the mileage I have lead me to either the low pressure pump is failing, or the high pressure pump has lost the ball bearing out of the side.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Code P2290 - Start But No Power
Long story behind it but finally got my scanner working right and checked the suggested systems for p2290.
IPR was 77+ on start up dropped to around 31 at idle
FMP is in the 46.5 to 47.5 range
SYC was at 1 and occasionally at 1.5
ICP was at 550-650 during startup and quickly ramped up to 1150 then settled into around 850 at idle.
The only thing that I'm not sure of is the IPR being 31 at idle, is that what it should be. The others I think are within normal operating parameters.
The truck starts but has no power. Can barely go up a slight hill on my street. Seems like it's going to be fine but as soon as I apply a little gas it just falls off.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: P2290 Code - Chugging At Operating Temp And Sometimes Even Die While Driving
I have a 2007 F250 6.0 L with 116000 miles. I have never done any modifications or changed anything on the truck. Now that the weather is starting to warm up I've noticed that once the truck is at operating temperature it starts to chug and sometimes even die while driving and while its doing this the truck has no power. It does not seem to do it when its cold. Here is a picture of my gauges KOEO operating temp at idle...
View 4 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: CEL Comes On For Code P2287 - Intermittent Injection Pressure Control Circuit
2004 Excursion 6.0L .... Recently after a 200 mile trip through the mountains running good, I get home and the next day it idles down the driveway at a high idle and after a few minutes seems to run better but within 5 miles the CEL comes on and throws P2287 - intermittent injection pressure control circuit. I cleared the code, ran around town again and the light came on again same code. I'm getting appropriate ICP-voltage and pressure readings. I took it home sat overnight and thought I would pull the ICP sensor.
I replaced the ICP sensor less than 6 months/5,000 miles ago. I also changed out the main engine harness at the same time. I looked at ICP sensor and it looks clean. Started the truck and tried the scientific wiggle test while running and monitoring ICP-voltage. Started at the sensor bending and wiggling back to FICM. No fluctuation in voltage. Ran the truck around town, 20 miles and no light. Yesterday we made the same 200 mile trip over the mountains, seemed to run strong. In town this morning within 5 miles the CEL is back on and the only code is P2287.
My Ford powertrain diagnostics manual doesn't have the P2287 code in it for troubleshooting. Should I go after the FICM, and how do U test that if so? I'm currently that 200 mile drive from home and don't want to damage anything more.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2005 - Injector Intermittent Code
Been working on a 2005 6.0 with 218kish miles on it. When I got the truck it had a contribution 2 code stored, no check engine light, just could see the code on the code reader.
Truck idled like crap, lacked power, so I replaced the injector. Truck improved but still had a miss, this time it had a stored code of injector 6.
Ordered another injector, got it installed today. Fired the truck up, ran perfectly, drove it around, absolutely 0 issues ran like a dream. Parked it for a few minutes before starting it again to wash it. Rough idle, not horrible, not noticeable. Cylinder 6 contribution code stored again, no check engine light.
So I drove it, I drove the hell out of it for about 15 minutes with the AC at full blast, WOT, etc etc. By the time I was done, truck was back to running smoothly.
Just walked outside after dinner to see if it would still perform well, or if it would idle poorly again, sure enough, 6 contribution, rough idle.
I just changed fuel filters with OEM, air filter is new. I just cleaned the EGR valve- although maybe it's not clean enough?? Oil change is tomorrow (had to wait for the filter to get shipped in).
I'm at a little bit of a loss on how to cure this miss, unless it's possibly an oil pressure issue from bad/old oil causing it?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Rough Idle - Code P0270 - Bad Injector?
my excursion just started hard and had rough idle one morning then code P0270 - injector, FICM or wires between are the logical choices I think.
started with wires - all connections good at FICM and injectors (applied dielectric silicone) - checked all 4 wires from injector connector pins for resistance with omh meter from X-1 connector. no change
so next is FICM. couple years back sent to ed for repair. if I remember right it was power supply side only so the "brain" side might have gone? good news is could I get a loaner FICM off fellow 6.0 and installed (can't confirm condition of loaner - trucks been parked a while) same code same cylinder - no change.
I read somewhere possibly swapping two injectors (say 2 and 4?) and see if the code follows the injector or stays with the cylinder, further test for a bad FICM
Is that necessary? I would hate buy and replace the #4 injector just to put it back together to find no change then forking over 6 7 hundred more on a new FICM.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2006 F350 - CEL Code For Injector Voltage Being Low
I have a 2006 F-350 4x4 CC LB. I recently had my check engine light come on coincidentally on my way to the auto parts store. Asked them to plug in the scanner and read the code. It had around 20! This truck has 40000 miles on it. All of the codes were dealing with injector voltage being low. All eight cylinders. So I'm thinking ficm is going out. I replaced the batteries shortly after this. I driven it a time or two after this and it started cutting in an out going down the road. Seemed down a few cylinders for a few seconds and pouring black smoke from the tailpipe of a stick truck. Made it home after it did this there times. Stated it up to move it a few days ago. Some white smoke that clears quickly and ran rough for a few, pulled it in gear surged forward and died. I cleaned the EGR valve and re o ringed it. Tested the drivers side pin on the FICM and have 47-48 volts with key on and cranking.
View 4 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Repeated Code P0272 After Injector Replacement?
In the last 300 miles, I have replaced all 8 injectors with rebuilt units. Shortly after assembly I had P0264, P0270 and P0272, so I replaced #2 and #4 injector. When I went to pull the oil rail, the two screws holding the top of the #4 injector were gone and the injector was in half. Easy to say, this was this issue with that one. I am assuming #2 had a coil issue.
After assembly, I am still getting P0272 with a rough idle while cold or hot. It does seem to lessen at higher RPMs.
FICM has less than 300 miles on it. Atlas 40, Ultra mods from ficmrepair.com.
Injector harness is new.
Using AE - Injector buzz test is ok. Power balance shows number #4 with slight issues. I will post screen shots tonight. ICP is always within a few points of desired. It builds in excess of 3,600 at WOT.
I have only driven 10 miles since the assembly.
1) Can air in the system contribute to this code? Should I continue to drive around and reevaluate?
2) Should I send the FICM back to Ed for review?
3) Any other thoughts?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: IPR At 84% At Cold Idle - Throwing #5 Injector Code?
2003, not deleted, everything was stock except for he put a Bully Dog on it with can tunes. Died on him was replaced ICP started up ran horrible was throwing different injector codes, IPR was at 84% at idle, plus had a lot of pressure on degas bottle.
Just finished studding, deleting, oil cooler, ICP, and injectors. She started up fairly easy, only to have the IPR still at 84%, ICP bouncing between 670s to 790s this just after start up from the work. Truck still runs horrible and still throwing #5 injector code also using AE and injector 5 wont Buzz. So, would be safe to say Injector harness and IPR sensor?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Code P0262 - Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit High
Have a 2004 F350 which had problems starting cold and once started had bad throttle response until warm. It also had a shudder at cruising speed when going up a slight incline, would shudder until turbo kicked in.
Pulled codes which related to FICM and codes for all 8 injectors. 7 injector codes were circuit low, cylinder 1 high. Tested FICM voltage and sent FICM out for repair.
Installed rebuilt FICM, cleared codes, and hard start went away, but cruising shudder is still present.
Only existing code is P0262 for cylinder 1 injector circuit high. I'm assuming that cylinder 1 injector is bad -- are there any tests to confirm before I take it apart to replace it?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Running Rough - #2 Contribution / Glow Plug / Injector Code
#2 contribution/glow plug/injector code ????? Harness looks good. What's the malfunction?? Runs rough. Never seen those 3 codes together.
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Check Engine Light Code For Injector Control Pressure Low
Traveling cross country & got a check engine light telling me "injector control pressure low". Replaced ICP sensor and injector pressure control regulator. Removed old one and installed the new one.
While looking for one of the nuts that attach the glow plug relay in the valley I found a small round part looks like maybe a valve seat. About 1/2" round with maybe a 1/4" four flute spline in the center. Has an o-ring on one end.
Is this something that followed the old ICPR out and fell off the end when It cleared the mounting hole? It looks like the ICPR would bear against this little thing.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: P1260 And P2290 Codes / Oil Leak On Driver Side
Earlier this week, I had the p1260 pop up. Then while driving to the beach, I had the p2290 pop up. I do not actually have a check engine light on, but used my torque app to find the codes. I have found a oil leak on the driver side coming from somewhere. I have a mishimoto thermostat coming in next week. I will try to collect parts needed for this repair. From my understanding, it's a hpop leak and the adrenaline and stc fitting should be my next move.
View 13 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Engine Missing - Code P2077 - Cylinder 6 Injector Circuit High
I have for a week suspected my batteries were getting weak. just slower cranking is all. I took my truck in to have a viper security system installed and while he was doing his work he killed the batteries. I saw him hook up a battery charger and started the truck. He pulled it around to me and explained how the system worked and off i went. 5 miles down the road, on the thruway, I notice a miss and I'm down on power. FICM looked ok, 48V and it was charging, 13.8 I thought I would bring it to my shop and load test the batteries. On my way here, the check engine light comes on. At the shop, load tested them and they were weak. Installed 2 brand new batteries, started it up, no difference. Hooked up the scanner and pulled a code P2077 (cylinder 6 injector circuit high) Now what? I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm guessing either the FICM went bad or the #6 injector?
View 12 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2006 F350 Not Starting - Code P2285 - Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Low
I have a 2006 f-350 6.0 and i went to fill up my truck with diesel. After that the truck did not start. Currently has the code p2285 - injector control pressure sensor circuit low. I tried disconnecting sensor, still no start.
I have the torque pro app and another 6.0 that I use for comparison. Check power at ficm 48 volt, flp 11.5v, FVP 11.5v. Hpop while cranking shows 1400 psi. removed oil filter and see low pressure oil ok, fills up reservoir. ipr at crank about 65%. fuel filter full of fuel.
Replaced the dummy plug on passenger side because originally hpop was very low psi 12. after replacement it went up to 1400 on cranking. What should I be looking at next, should I be removing ipr? should i be looking at crank sensor or cam sensor? Just installed 2 new batteries also because my dad kept cranking the truck until it died.
Checked to make sure fuel cut off relay not triggered, Ok. The truck has been having long cranks before it died. Also right now the injector cycling is 10 seconds long while on my other 6.0 it is about 4.
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: CEL Code P02E1 - Diesel Intake Air Flow Control Performance
My truck threw a CEL after the first start today. The CTS reports it twice. I noticed it about two minutes after start.
P02E1 - Diesel Intake Air Flow Control Performance
The air box gauge is green and it doesn't reset when I push it so that appears to be fine.
The one thing I can easily notice is the sound of the turbo. Typically when I stop and park, the turbo spools up, then down, then spools again and gives a sigh of relief and it's then silent. It's not doing that currently.
Now, I can hear it constantly when parked and it spools down after I turn off the engine, even two minutes later. That is not normal for my truck when I wait for the above to finish its routine. When I start the truck, the turbo immediately spools to where I can hear it which is also not normal, as if it's building 0.5 psi. I realize that's funny to say on a turbo diesel but I know the sounds of my truck. The EGT's are fine, EOT, ECT, TFT are fine and I can build boost when driving without issue. I took the drive to work easy this morning so the highest I noticed was 10 psi.
I restarted the truck after a 20 minute drive to the office and it didn't clear the CEL. The CTS squawked four times when it woke up the second time but it didn't show me which PID it was upset about.
I'm thinking this has nothing to do with the CAI and this is something downstream of there. EGR related? I haven't opened the air box yet, at work and in dress clothes so that'll need to wait. My past four or five regenerations all started between 1.94 and 1.97 soot gpl. That is also not normal and is something I have been keeping my eyes on. Currently the DPF is at 2.10 so it has made it further. Normal behavior (post emissions flash) is above 2.54 soot gpl for an AR.
