Tramadol (Opiate) Withdrawal - Marijuana Helped Me Coming Off It

I would like to first off say i did not relapse on opiates.  HOWEVER i ended up taking some tramadol after a few surgeries.  I asked for NON OPIATE pain relief afterwards.  That is what he gave me.  I took them did not get high i thought that was great! However a few months later i found myself dependent on it without the high its a stupid drug.  So i gradually cut back..i went back to my doc and told him it was not easy to come off of and could he help me.  He gave me a taper plan to work so i started working it.   I noticed as i reduced my dosage is was worse and worse like usual.. So i do smoke pot from time to time and the last time i got off subs Marijuana really helped me get off.

Tramadol :: Withdrawal Nightmare - 4 Months For Fibromyalgia Pain

3 days ago I began, by accident to go through the nightmare of tramadol withdrawal.bI'd been prescribed up to 400 mg daily 4 months ago to relieve fibromyalgia pain. Luckily,I settled on a dose of 200mg taken early evening and last thing before bed,not realising at the time that I was using them more to aid sleep than for pain.I absentmindedly forgot to order my repeat prescription, hence the withdrawal. Can't believe what I am going through. The worst thing is the restless legs and complete inability to be still, especially at night times, which seem to go on forever. I am so tired through lack of sleep and the constant fidgeting is horrendous.Cannot settle to watch tv,read,or anything else that would distract me from other unpleasant sensations like the whooshing in the head, electric pulses, irritability, etc. My gp,usually very good, never mentioned any possibility of addiction,or even that tramadol are opiate based.I am now determined to get off and stay off this drug.Believe it or not the chronic pain I have is more manageable than tramadol withdrawal.Hoping someone has some positive feedback to encourage me,but also want to make people aware of the dangers of this drug, and the need to ask more questions if prescribed.

Tramadol Withdrawal :: Severe Mood Swings, Depression, Insomnia, RLS

I suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis and so have been on all sorts of painkillers and medicines, opiate based seem to be the only ones that genuinely work. I have struggled with addiction until finally learning my tolerances and tapering etc. etc. so I can take them safely without doing myself in.

I tried Tramadol, they stopped me sleeping and effected my mood. I am also on an SSRI, they interacted and caused weird symptoms so I have stopped them and gone back to Dihydrocodeine so physical symptoms are pretty mild.

I am however suffering severe mood swings still; depression, insomnia, RLS, muscle pain...

It has been exactly a week, does anyone know how long these issues might last? As I am struggling at the moment, struggling to keep up with work and responsibilities. I know it will end, I am positive about this, just looking for a time frame!

Substance Withdrawal :: Day 4 No Methadone

This morning was day 4 of no methadone for me. My addiction issues go back several years when I was prescribed percocet for post op knee surgery. Before that I've never put any kind of drug in my system whatsoever. I had access to opiates from family members and needless to say I started taking them. It led to the destruction of my marriage and a bitter custody battle of my precious baby girl. I got clean from everything about a year ago but within the last 6 months I relapsed and have been taking the methadone from my father which kills me because he loves me so much and would do anything in the world four me. Anyway today is day 4...I slept some last night. Haven't gotten the restless legs or anything. Just extreme anxiety that things will get worse and loss of energy and bad headache. I'm just hoping tomorrow will be better. I was only taking maybe 15mg at the most the entire 6 months. The last week I was down to like 5mg. So I hope things won't be too much worse.

Methadone Withdrawal After 35 Years

After over 35 years on painkillers & methadone I'm down to 1mg from an all time historical high of 425mg daily...I have reduced over the last 6 months from 125mg, now on 1mg finishing next week. Do not let pain and panic mongers tell you how terrible it is, or it will become your experience merely by suggestion. Avoid people who relate horror stories, if you want to do this do it slowly, avoid users and poly abusers, or they will undo your complete rehabilitation.

Heroin Withdrawal - Aches And Stiffness Due To Methadone ?

I've been on methadone for about a week now, use to be a heroin junkie. Anyway, the last several days I've noticed that my joints have become very achy and stiff. They started me off on such a small dose of methadone (for me) 30mg, and I got to go up 5 mg a day except for the weekends. I thought initially that this joint stiffness must be some withdrawals bleeding through but all the heroin should have been out of my system by now, so i know this isn't withdrawal.. This seems to be the only side effect I'm getting from the methadone.. Has anyone else ever had joint aches or stiffness due to methadone?

Tramadol :: Tramadol And Alcohol

I began tramadol in June 2014 after surgery. It subsided the pain and made me feel good. Like happy and optimistic about my recovery. I couldn't drive while recovering, so I walked everywhere, including to physical therapy appointments. That was all of last summer. I stayed on them until January to help with physical therapy discomfort. Then I suffered an elbow injury also in January, so stayed on them. My surgeon who originally prescribed them began cutting down on what he prescribed, so I found them elsewhere. This past spring, I began drinking alcoholic beverages after taking my last dose at around 5pm. Two months later was a disaster. Since, I have learned two very important things about Tramadol. One is that it's also an antidepressant and two, alcohol makes them even more addicting. This I learned through all the research I desperately sought. I am now 11 days without taking Tramadol and It's been hell. I spoke to a detox facility and they said that my insurance company would not pay for treatment for Tramadol because it is...wait for it... NOT ADDICTING. So here I am still trying to get this poison out of my system. It stinks because it is now I need something to calm my symptoms. Which is the lesser evil? I have no energy, depression, muscle weakness, no motivation and can cry at any given moment. Why me, why any of this? Doctors need to know what Tramadol truly is as do the insurance companies.

Polymyalgia Rheumatica :: Anything To Ease The Pain Of Bursitis?

I was diagnosed with this condition a few years ago in my left hip. I was given a steroid injection in my thigh and to be truthful, I completely forgot about the pain. I still get niggly pain, but nothing I can't cope with. In January this year, I was diagnosed with it in my right hip and was given a steroid injection in March. It worked for a couple of days, but after that, the pain is worse than before. I am due a follow up in September. Painkillers don't seem to help at all.  Any other sufferers out there?

Passing Kidney Stones With Ease - My Experience

Bit of background; I'm 26 years old, male, live a relatively healthy, active lifestyle apart from not drinking enough water (paying for that now).

About 5 months ago I kept experiencing a dull ache in my groin area, it usually subsided within about 30 minutes so I thought nothing of it. Anyway, one night I got up to go to the toilet and the pain in my groin suddenly hit me like a brick to the face. I was doubled over and can honestly say I have never ever experienced such severe pain in my life. First thought was that my appendix had burst. My girlfriend called an ambulance and I ended up in A&E. The doctor came in and immediately said 'kidney stones', I shuddered. They gave me some pain killers (suppositories unfortunately as the pain was making me vomit). They took my blood and sent the results up to the lab. About 45 minutes later a nurse came in and asked me to do a urine sample. I was still in quite a bit of pain and hadn't drunk anything since the previous night but I complied. Well, all that came out was essentially pure blood, it looked very 'bitty' and I thought something was seriously wrong (apologies for delving into detail so much, I just think it helps to know everything). The nurse came in and said that didn't look too good so she sent it off for testing. They hooked me up ready to take an IV drip just in case I had to stay in.

When the doctor returned he told me that I didn't have kidney stones but had a mild kidney infection. They sent me on my way with a pack of codeine and some antibiotics. I took a week off work and just rested. By the end of the week I was back to normal.

Two weeks ago I was on holiday in Florida doing the usual touristy thing, Disney, Universal etc. Due to my hatred of bland water I hadn't been drinking that much and given the 40+ degree heat we were experiencing, that probably wasn't the best idea. At the end of week one I was lounging in the jacuzzi at the hotel, when the ache in my groin reappeared, it took me by surprise as I hadn't had any pain since being in hospital. I took some painkillers and thought nothing of it. Later on while out to dinner I went to the toilet and noticed some blood in my urine (I'm a bit of a worrier so immediately I was on red alert). I got my girlfriend and told her we needed to go to see a Doc the next day. After seeing the Doctor and paying $140 for the privilege (no NHS out there and they don't accept health insurance so you have to foot the bill initially), the doctor gave me some antibiotics and told me that my urine sample showed no signs of bacteria which would indicate and infection - she believed it to be kidney stones but a CT scan would cost me £400 so I declined.

I didn't believe her, I had faith in the NHS and thought she was just trying to get more money out of me. I took the tablets and kept up with some pain killers and started to drink a lot of water. Things seemed to go fine.

Two days after arriving back in the UK the blood in my urine came back and I felt aching in my groin and my abdomen and had lower back pain. I went to see my Doctor and he again said kidney stones. I explained about having a kidney infection and going to A&E and the pain etc and he said that it sounded to him like I actually passed a stone while I was in A&E. He said it's no excuse but it's not uncommon to be misdiagnosed. He booked me in for an ultra sound with the hospital but said it could be a few weeks. GREAT!!

I went home and started drinking water like a madman. I'd previously gone from drinking roughly 1 litre of liquid a day to suddenly drinking 2.5/3 litres of water. I was determined to flush these stones out (if indeed that was what I had). I reduced my sodium intake, I reduced my dairy intake and started eating a bit better and just drinking as much as I could. I began researching all about kidney stones and what fellow sufferers have gone through and found out that you should produce 2/3 litres of urine a day to prevent stones - before the last three weeks I'd have never produced anywhere near that. I was drinking so much water that I started getting heartburn. I'd occasionally see a tinge of blood in my urine but it was becoming less and less. On Monday morning I was reading something on a thread about a herbel remedy for kidney stones. Normally I've never given much credence to herbal homeopathic remedies but since there is very little you can do with kidney stones but flush them out, I figured it'd be worth a go. It's called Berberis Vulgaris and you take it three times a day, you let the little pill rest under your tongue until it dissolves. It's made from plant extract and helps to break down kidney stones. The lady I spoke to on the phone from the homeopathic website said that it's good for you kidneys anyway and that it works with some people and not with others. There are zero side effects and I thought, why not?! I ordered some and began taking them the next day when they arrived.

Now this seems like one hell of a coincidence but on Wednesday afternoon at work I went toilet. Immediately afterwards I felt a sharp shooting/burning sensation in my penis and an urge to urinate again. I quickly remembered reading that this pain usually means you're about to pass a stone. I grabbed a bottle of water and sunk it and waited for my bladder to fill. About 15 minutes later I went to the toilet and out popped a 3mm stone. I was elated. Later that same day another stone popped out, about 2mm. Just now, another one popped out, about 1mm.

My personal belief is that these herbal tablets helped break down this stone into little passable grains instead of one big stone. I felt zero pain at all and all my previous symptoms seem to have vanished.

I would strongly recommend these to anybody - worst case scenario, it doesn't work. You don't lose anything if that happens. I honestly believe that taking these little pills coupled with increasing my water intake helped break the stones down so I could pass them.

I'm now on a mission to never have stones again. Fingers crossed.
