View 2 RepliesEpsom Salts (magnesium) Baths For A Good Night Sleep
I've been having magnesium baths for a while (epsom salts). I do get anxiety and not only do the baths calm me, it really helps with a good night sleep, aching muscles but the next morning helps with going to the loo too!
it is thought to be a natural detox too, help rid of toxins from your body (deodorant chemicals etc)
I buy a 25kg bag as its significantly cheaper but you can get smaller bags just to try.
i have 3 a week and add about 300-400g per bath and submerge as much of my body as i can for at least 20mins.
magnesium is a natural mineral which our body needs. You can make a drink with it apparently which is a VERY effective laxative (I haven't done this)
Hidradenitis Suppurativa :: Epson Salt Baths, Pimple Cream And Alcohol Wipe
Is there a HS specialist? I have been dealing with this between my legs and it goes up into my butt crack. I was diagnosed in 1997 with hidradenitis suppurativa . From 1997- 2000 I would periodically go to a surgeon for outpatient surgery, for removal of one or two at a time. I was also placed on antibiotics that did not seem to help. I regularly take Epson salt baths, use pimple cream, and wipe the area down with alcohol. This gives very little relief at this point. It use to prove much more effective. I had surgery in 2005 and couldn't walk for 3 weeks. It seemed to be better for about 1 year. After a year it got much worse. I¿m at a point where the scarring is as bad as it was before the surgery. At any given time I have 2 to 3 swollen up around my v area and 2 to 3 around my anis. It is hard to sit, walk, or even stand at times. I have an appointment with a dermatologist May 25 and we¿ll see what happens. I just feel like I have tried everything.

I have had recurring breast infections since my son was born 25yrs ago. I had numerous surgeries. It keeps coming back. I tried everything under the sun. Hydrogen Peroxide, Alcohol, iodine, hot compresses, antibiotics. I have just discovered that soaking with Epsom salt completely healed me. It worked fast. I am continuing to do this twice a day to make sure it is completely gone. I am amazed. I was going to go for surgery again. I want other people to be helped. This is a miracle for me.
View 1 RepliesFolliculitis For A Year - Bleach Baths, Clindamycin Foam - Nothing Works
I have had folliculitis for over a year. I get these bumps under my skin on the topside of my arms by the elbow area that eventually turn to whiteheads. They are scaring my arms all up. My Doc gave me Azithromycin for 3 months and it seemed to clear it up, but as soon as I stopped the antibiotic it came back. Im starting to think it's more of an allergy than a skin condition. I tried the bleach baths, clindamycin foam nothing makes this go away forever. I am having one cultured today and i'm sure it will change nothing.

View 2 RepliesEpsom Salts Benefits To Relieve Constipation And Bloating
I've posted on here about my now-frequent bouts of constipation. Have relied on Stool Softeners which have done the trick. I eat veg, not keen on fruit and can't stand fruit juice, Have upped my water intake: good results. But I don't want to take these for long periods.
Well for some reason I was remembering my dear ol' mum and her issues around constipation. I believe she, myself and one sister had this tendency: the rest seem to go as often as a racing Greyhound!!
Well, I remember my mum each morning making up a small concoction of Epsom Salts, mixed to a paste with water then washed down with a cup of tea. Within half hour she was flying past us to the loo!
When I was feeling completely bunged up, I did wonder if this might work for me. But I have to say, as great as she was, my mum had some funny ideas about medicines etc, so wondered if this was just one of her many 'alternative' ideas she'd come up with herself! She would have been 95 now, and died (not from constipation!!) at 81, so she had a good innings.
Well, that funny lil ol' girl was doing something right for once! I read a really good article about Epsom Salts and their health benefits. The article name-dropped Gwyneth Paltrow and Victoria Beckham soaking in E'salt baths to reduce bloating (what? on them two - who they kidding?!). But more importantly it went on to mention soaking in a bath with the salts to help aching joints......
Addison's :: Craving For Salt And Always Thirsty
I'm wondering what the "typical" dose is for fludrocortisone? I've been taking .1 mg for past several years, but doesn't seem like it's doing anything. I'm thirsty all of the time, and am consuming liquids all day it seems ... and yes, I add sea salt to my water. Could it be that this gets worse the longer you live with the condition, and so may require more of the med to help with sodium retention? I'm clearly not retaining extra water weight as I'm extremely thin (87 lbs). My doctor doesn't seem to have a clue and just tells me to keep drinking water. I pretty much don't rely on doctors anymore with this condition. I've grown tired of educating them about Addison's/ Adrenal Insufficiency. So I figured I would ask here and see what others take and if anyone has had to increase their fludrocortisone.

View 1 RepliesThyroid Disorders :: Using Iodine, Selenium, Sea Salt And Hashimoto's
I've read recently that iodine is not necessarily bad if you have hashi's. I found other articles that say too much iodine is the cause of many hashis cases. Nothing better than getting feedback from those that are living with hashish. My questions are:
Should I not be using regular iodized salt?
Will using uniodized sea salt be better than regular salt?
Do I need to be concerned at all with my salt/iodine intake as long as I'm taking 200 mg selenium now?
Are these articles about iodine mainly referring to iodine supplements and not what a person consumes through diet?
I understand hypothyroidism is not necessarily hashimoto's thyroiditis but quite frankly, my head is spinning right now. I don't want to aggravate my hashi's but on the other hand, maybe I'm overly concerned. BTW, I am currently not taking any thyroid medicine. Other than having difficulty losing weight.
