View 7 RepliesYeast Infection :: Coconut Oil To Cure?
Has anyone had success with this? I am 42 and have been having recurring yeast infections for the past 6 months, right after my ovulation, no idea why they keep coming back. I'm thinking hormones must be out of whack. I've never had one before, ever, and I take all the usual precautions to prevent them, but they come back month after month at the same time. Thankfully, diflucan seems to cure them as I get them. Anyway, I was wondering about applying coconut oil to my vagina as a cure. I already use it on my vulva to help alleviate the irritation and itch.

I have now seen a proper specialist for first time. She advises two week break from clob while we zap a yeast/fungal infection with an oral treatment called itraconazole. [And then 6 weeks of daily clob.] I didn't ask her whether it was ok to still use coconut oil or similar and have this slight worry that it might somehow feed the infection!?!? But don't want to forego the comfort unnecessarily.
View 13 RepliesAlternative Therapies :: Coconut Oil Pulling For Treating Allergies?
I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried oil pulling for treating allergies? Also, I was wondering how effective it is for treating allergies? A woman at my local health food store suggested I try it, instead of using OTC allergy medications. I've been taking 2 Coconut Oil softgels daily, plus my usual dose of antihistamines. I love the coconut oil because of the boost it gives me, but would really like to get away from the antihistamines because it drops my energy level, basically I want to replace the allergy meds...

View 12 RepliesPityriasis Rosea :: Use Coconut Oil, Myrrh And Small Tanning Sessions
First started with a small path on my upper arm which just got bigger each day. Then some small patches started appearing on my collarbone and on my tummy. Went to the doctors and they weren’t sure what it was initially and gave me steroid cream. Three days later I felt awful and the rash was beginning to appear elsewhere and the original spots were getting larger. I went back to the doctors and she knew straight away it was PR. This was great as at least I knew what I had and I could research a bit on it. Unfortunately no-one seems to know that much about it!
In the space if a week I had loads more spots come up, all over my back, my front and along my scalp. I have to say that I really didn’t feel well at the beginning stages. I felt exhausted, had a huge loss of appetite, very emotional and just wasn’t myself. I looked pale, tired and my hair felt in awful condition. I decided to read some forums on other peoples experiences and picked up some suggestions on how to get rid of PR quickly!
For just under a week, I have done the following:
– Used Head & Shoulders as a shower cream and E45 Bath Oil in the bath.
– After each shower or bath, applied pure coconut oil all over my body and face.
– Before bed, I apply Myrrah Essential Oil (diluted in a carrier oil) all over my body and face.
– Had three tanning sessions of 6 minutes each.
– Plenty of sleep!
Using the above regime has improved my skin SO much. I can’t believe what an improvement has been made within this short amount of time, and I was literally covered in spots on my back, front and scalp. Most of my spots have faded, dried up and I look and feel so much better. I have some spots on my neck and collarbone which are the freshest ones, but using the above regime I expect them to get better very soon.
I would really recommend to all of you to use Coconut Oil, Myrrh and small tanning sessions. I really believe these have speeded up PR for me and I believe I will not have much left in a week's time. I have used E45 moisturising cream too when needed.
Lichen Sclerosus :: How To Use Aloe Vera Gel, Coconut Oil, Witch Hazel
I have been diagnosed with LS in February this year, although looking back now with more information at hand, I have been suffering from this for nearly five years, but had always been misdiagnosed. I cannot begin to mention all the vaginal creams and tablets that I have been prescribed.. all to no avail until the biopsies were done. I am now using Dermovate and was using it only when needed, until I watched Dr Goldstein's webinar a few days ago. I picked the link up from this forum. Since then I use it everyday, after soaking for 15 minutes in warm water and then rubbing in the ointment for 90 seconds. In May of this year I was also diagnosed with Lichen Planus. I follow the same procedure with the LP but I do not seem to have as much success here. Patches still coming out all over especially in groin, thighs right down to knees, underarms, under the girl, arms etc. Is there anyone who is using something other that Dermovate for LP and with what success rate? I see on this forum that numerous mention is made of coconut oil, witch hazel and aloe vera gel. I have managed to get hold of coconut oil and 97% aloe vera gel. Is the 97% good enough? In what form does the witch hazel come... is it an essential oil? I have looked around but have not found manuka honey yet. Does anyone in RSA know where I can find this? Then lastly, how do I use the above.. do I mix them all together and put on (how many times a day?) and what is it for? Does it help the itch, scarring, LS itself??? Quite new to this so not sure how to use these.
View 14 RepliesLichen Sclerosus :: Fusing Labia - Coconut Oil / Baking Soda Helped
I have suffered for 33 years with this disease. I am 76 yrs old. LS is an autoimmune disease and a health person told me for a true autoimmune
problem is that you had to have 3. I have arthritis, Ls and thyroid. Jus over a year ago I had to have the thyroid removed (cancer) . That is okay now. But listen to this, The unbearable constant burning itch has all but disappeared. There is still some very mild discomfort around the anus. The fusing was so complete that I lost the clitorus first and than the labia minora and the labia majora was starting to disappear. But with the regular use of coconut oil and spraying after bathroom use with water and baking soda I now have rather normal looking labia and normal colour. i was white, gray, purple and bumps. Only the clitorus has not been uncovered but sensation is still there. I am just very slightly white at the entrance to the vagina both front and back. I wish i had Known about these treatments years ago.
Lichen Sclerosus :: Coconut / Olive Oil And Sylk Vaginal Moisturizer Didn't Work
I'm not sure if anyone else experiences this? I tend to find something will work for me down there, then it does not. For example: coconut oil has been quite soothing in the past, lately it just irritates me no end.
I tried Olive Oil but it wasn't that great. The Doctor prescribed Sylk vaginal moisturizer and that can either be Okay or not.
Has anyone else got other 'comforters' for LS? Mine gets sore and stingy as opposed to itchy.

So it's been 3 weeks since I started orlistat and slimming world. First week loss 8lb, second week loss 5lb, third week loss 3lb. I am not eating much fat at all and am wondering if the tablets are doing anything for me? I'm really disappointed with only 3 lb loss this week. I know the weight loss will slow down, however I am very overweight, doing slimming world AND orlistat, shouldn't the weight be falling off? I haven't cheated once in these three weeks! My body has gone from having around 3000 cals a day to just 1000 cals plus exercise!

View 3 RepliesOrlistat :: What To Eat And Avoid?
I'm fairly new to Orlistat having started beginning of october having not much luck on diets as I luuurve my food. But I had decided to go to my doctor and ask for help and she recommended I try these tablets.
I've struggled a couple of times trying to find the right foods but i'm slowly getting there i certainly have cut down on eating all the crap and stuff i love to eat but without totally having to give it all up by changing my fat/calorie intake. I have experienced the overload of fat once and it was not pretty lol, I will not be having a pizza for a while thats for sure. Its definitely a trial and error process just finding what foods work and wot doesn't for me and how much i can eat of it. I for one know these tablets are a god send as it stops me from having all those fatty lovely tasty foods that i know I shouldn't be eating and more of what i should be.
Orlistat :: Changing Your Periods
i have a IUD (coil) fitted so i very rarely have a period and if i do it only lasts a day or two and its very light, but this week i've had the worse pains and then i've had one, this might just be a coincidence as i only started taking the tabs 2 weeks ago.
i know its listed as a side effect in the leaflet but have many of u had a problem with your periods?

View 1 RepliesOrlistat :: With Eating Disorder
Basically, it seemed like it was at first then it just stopped, for ages (months) and it made me miserable because I was doing everything I could right, which was very difficult for me because I have an eating disorder. When I realised nothing was happening after all that hard work, combined with stress and misery (i have bpd and an anxiety disorder on top of the ed) I ended binging repeatedly. So in the end I just gained weight.
What do I do now? I've been trying so hard for the past year, exercise healthy eating instead of starving myself like i would usually resort to, and then orlistat. and then there was barely any difference in the end. I've now gained 10lbs from my start weight.
Is there any option after Orlistat, medication wise. I don't really want to contact my doctor until I know this as I'm embarrassed but I couldn't find any information online. I'm not heavy enough for a gastric band and I don't think that would necessarily even help me as it wasn't overeating that was the problem.
