Windstar :: 2001 - Code P0401 / Shudder Could Be Related To Vacuum?

Owned my 2001 Windstar almost 3 years and this is the first time the CEL has come on.

I just finished some big maintenance early last month. Trans fluid, engine oil, cabin filter, fuel filter, rear brakes, fuel injector cleaner additive.

While driving a short trip, a few blocks, we noticed the van shudder a little bit. I thought maybe something to do with the trans. It wasn't very noticeable but enough to cause the sensation of moving forward and back slightly. Sort of like experiencing a 4.5 earthquake that triggered 50 miles away while you are on top of a 4 story building. Enough to feel the sensation, but that's it.

Upon starting the car up again on our way home the CEL/MIL came on right away. Got home and ran my scan tool on it and here is what I got.

P0401 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected

Could this be related to a vacuum issue? I had the top intake apart a year ago and the EGR ports seemed ok, maybe a little clogging.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Truck Dies At Stop While In Gear - Code P0443

I have a 1997 Ford F-150 with the 4.6L auto trans 189,000 miles

Ok.. there was no problems until the other day when I unplugged the positive side of the battery to replace it's clamp. I Put the new one on and drove to the store but when I came to a stop, the rpm's dropped to 0 and the truck died. I restarted it and every time I would come to a stop it would die unless I give it a little gas also if I start the truck and leave it in park it idles fine until I give it some gas then let off.. the idle drops and dies! If I give it a little steady gas the idle will return to normal.

The check engine light works fine but never once lit up because of this problem! I used a code scanner and if the truck was off and the key forward, it would have no codes. With it running it had the code P0443. I found and replaced a blown fuse and still have the same problem but it reads no codes at anytime. I checked all the vacuum hoses and there seems to be no leaks and the mass airflow sensor looks clean. I have allot of miles but it has been taken care of well and has had a ton of parts replaced over the last few years.

I am wondering why this happened out of the blue and If there is something I am missing that I should be looking at. I don't want to replace the purge control valve if thats not the problem.

Ford - Windstar :: 1999 - Dies While Driving

My 1999 ford windstar died last month while driving. No signs no symptoms just shut off while driving. Towed it to a mechanic paid $400 for a new fuel pump. I get it back and still having problems. The van dies while driving at any speeds. I've had it shut off when starting to stop at stop signs and I've had it shut off while driving 60. Each time I put it in park it starts up just fine. I took it in to get a computer check and all that it said is rich fuel. So they told me o2 sensor. Two mechanics have informed me o2 sensor would not cause those problems.

Recently someone told me ignition coil was their problem on a truck they had having the same problems. So I watched a YouTube video and I think I can do it myself. Let me just say I don't know anything about cars but it looks simple and I am not willing to sink money on mechanics that clearly themselves can't figure out the problems. Am I right to change the coil or do any of you think it might be something else? I don't want to waste my time if it's not the coil. I have had this van for 3 months. I got for $800 and have now paid about $800 in repairs. Its a good van but im Not paying out more so from here on out this is my let's learn about fixing my own car car. I've read some threads about also changing the spark plugs or the coil will break again I'm also think I can do that as well. Again do you think this is the right track or is it maybe something else.

Ford - Windstar :: 1995 - Van Slowly Dies When Idling?

diagnose a problem with their 1995 Ford Windstar. The van slowly dies when idling. It runs for a few seconds after being jumped and then the dash lights slowly dim after which the van stops running. We replaced the battery and the van ran for about a day or so without issue. However, the problem is back. I suspected the alternator was faulty, so we pulled it and took it to a parts store to be bench tested. It was tested twice and passed both times. Does this sound like an alternator problem? Could there be an issue with the battery cables? What else might be causing this?

It's a 1999 f250sd 5.4l auto. Has code p1747. Truck shudders and almost dies when you drop it in gear, put it back in park idles fine. I have read all the post on here about this and checked wires from trans up to pcm look and test well. Tested plug c1048 wires with the digital meter to body ground with battery unhooked and got 6.66k ohms on pin 11 circuit 925, 421 ohms pins 1 and 12. Plugged c1048 back to trans checked 925 w/y wire at plug c103 got 9.1 ohms back to trans. Is the EPC solenoid bad or is it pcm? I think its epc but want to verify before i take trans apart.

I have 98 windstar, p1538 code, IMRC. I have physically checked both IMRC's and they are functioning as they should. (if they were bad, they would not move at all right?) Check engine light is on, this is the code that came up when checked at OReillys, "P0113 Intake Air temperature sensor 1 Circuit high input". Earlier took it to repair shop, he did not give the code, some sensor needs to be changed (don't know if he came up with same code). He had erased the code but it came back on within minutes. Wanted to check if there is any cheaper way to fix this. This is a windstar van.

What I have done : Refill and observed what happen, leaking still. I changed the gasket & filter. The leaking persists.

I found bulletin service about water entering, causing ECM to give wrong measuring stick level. I fixed, according to bulletin TSB 14-06-10. It is leaking still.

There is another bulletin about the same problem: TBS 05-14-5. This bulletin is about the transaxle vent being obstructed.It is leaking a lot of oil.

Ford - Windstar :: 2001 Rough Idle After Warm Up

Back after months...van has been checked by 2 ford dealer mechanics here in VA , nothing.

Now it's the opposite ...temp outside 90 or higher, drive it for 8 -10 ml, park and come back after 15 min. From shopping, try to start, won't idle, stalls every time I try , after 6-8 attempts, back to normal, all together 3 times, last time was so bad, had a real problem to make it back home, at every stop, it stalled.

Back to the shop ....they drove several times, no show ...it's fine, don't know what to do ????

Windstar :: 2001 Ford - Select Tail Lights Will Not Function

2001 Ford Windstar, select tail lights will not function. All lights serviced by Fuse #7 have ceased to function (left rear turn lamp, right backup lamp, right stop lamp, right rear park lamp, right license lamp, left license lamp, and left backup lamp). Checked all bulbs and replaced any that were questionable but to no avail.

Windstar :: 2001 Ford Started Missing And Stalls Randomly Under Acceleration

I have a 2001 Ford Windstar SE. 220,000 miles. A few months back it started missing ... I drove it like that just local for a few days but then I was leaving town for about a month and just parked it. After I got back I changed the plugs and all was fine on the test drive (ran perfect ... fixed the misfire). What has happened since then has been frustrating. Althought it runs great, now it stalls randomly and always when it's under acceleration and usually going up slight or a bit steeper hills (think So Cal terrain). It doesn't jerk or miss or sputter ... it just cuts out.

If you try to turn the engine over without turning the key off it won't start. Turn off the key then turn it on and it starts like nothing ever happened. No codes whatsoever. Sometimes you can drive it for 30 to 50 miles or more and have no problems at all, then all of a sudden it will stall in an area that it had no problems with over the previous week or so. It seems to stall out at about the time it wants to shift from 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to 3rd ... or at least that general rpm or accelerator pedal position. It's happened with light acceleration and heavy (pulling a long hill) acceleration. Never at idle or decelerating or just cruising on a flat piece of roadway ... never. It also seems the pedal needs to be at a constant position (not pushing down or letting up but just at a certain position under acceleration). I've had my mechanic with me 3 different times and each time it never stalled with him along. Fuel pressure was fine when he checked it (while driving).

Once in a while it will cut out (just enough to notice) then cut right back in and keep running but most of the time it just cuts out and that's it. I've changed the camshaft sensor, the crankshaft sensor, the PCM relay, the fuel pump relay, the throttle position sensor and the fuel filter. I'm hoping to set it up next week where if it stalls I can call the mechanic and have him come over to where I am and see if a code comes up (and check the fuel pressure also) without me turning it off (since that seems to reset whatever the problems is).

Ford - Windstar :: 2001 - Chugging And Service Engine Light Blinking?

Twice now (and maybe a third time once I start my van again) we've had problems with the van chugging and then the service engine light blinking. Both times it happened in the past, we took it to a mechanic who said it needed a tune-up - new spark plugs, wires, etc. I'm curious as to why this keeps happening. Mileage is around 105K. It first happened last summer, second time was in December. Now it's March. What could cause this problem to repeat?

I had a spark plug break on me and it caused a misfire. I took it in and the mechanic replaced all spark plugs and wires. After getting the car back, I experience an occasional engine hiccup here and there. Took it back to the mechanic and told me that he cleaned off the valves of carbon build up. This did not alleviate the current symptoms. It is more noticeable while I am idling. It feels like a jolt. It appears to be worse after a cold start. I do not have a check engine light or do I notice the RPM needle go wild. What is the mechanic missing? What could still be wrong with the engine? Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Code P0715 / Keeps Locking Up In 3rd Gear

My brother's 2005 Santa Fe keeps locking up in 3rd gear. I've read around here that the P0715 error code that I have is for an input sensor, but I replaced that and it still doesn't work. I also tried the vehicle speed sensor as well and it didn't work.

I was with someone at AutoZone who pulled up a page here that said no I really needed to replace the transmission control module but I can't find that thread here.
