Lexus RX 2004-09 :: RX330 A/C Does Not Keep The Cabin Cool
I have a 2005 RX 330 with about 100k on it. The A/C does not keep the cabin cool. If you turn the fan up it will keep it cooler. I took it back to the dealer and they say there is nothing wrong with it. They did recharge it but it did nothing. You have to keep the fan turned up to just stay comfortable. I have had service loaners and I have to keep turning the temp up or it gets too cold.
View 14 RepliesFord Excursion :: 1993 - A/C Take Too Long To Reach Cool Temp?
It reached 93 here today and it has always taken too long for my AC to reach a cool temperature. I have never had the AUTO setting slow the fan down even at highway speeds. I am moving to TX in the next few months and I already know what it is like driving it down there...HOT! I could really like improving the efficiency of the AC of my Ex.
Can I use the same insulation used for home AC lines on the truck? Is there any high-temp insulation I could fun over the lines? I found a coolant shut-off valve for the heater core on 7.3 trucks, but not for the 6.0. Is there an equivalent for us with the 6.0?
Touareg :: Way To Get Cool Outside Air Without Turning On Compressor?
I'm trying to bring fresh air at ambient temperature into the cab, but even on Econ and Lo, incoming air is a good 20 degrees F warmer than outside, even after 20 minutes or so giving the system time to cool off. The dealer says this is normal. Is there no way to get cool outside air in through the ventilation system without turning on the compressor?
View 15 RepliesTouareg :: AC To Stop Blowing Cool Air Off The Upper Vent - Windshield Condensation
I have only 3 days with my new Treg and I cannot make the A/C to stop blowing cool air off the upper vent into the windshield. So the cold air makes condensate water on the outside and I have to use the wipers to wipre it out, appearing again in few seconds. The A/C settings are either AUTO at 70F or manual and making sure the air is directed to the front.
View 18 RepliesTouareg :: Cool Start Acceleration - Car Will Go Forward For About 1 Feet Then Choke For Couple Seconds
My car has been having a cool start acceleration problem in the past couple weeks.
After I start the engine, switch to D ("Drive"), and step on the gas paddle half way, the car will go forward for about 1 feet. Then it will choke for couple seconds. If I release the gas paddle and then step on it again, it will do the same thing.
However, if I just slightly step on it and let it slowly accelerate, it will be fine. Also, it only happens on a cold start.
Touareg :: How Long It Took To Relearn The Pressures
How long it took to relearn the pressures? I pulled the ECU today to take some readings and reburn the chip. When I reset everything the tire pressure monitor went into learn mode. I have driven it around for 20 miles and the unit still has not cleared. My wife is not so sure she likes me doing development work on her Reg. The books are worthless on this subject.
View 9 RepliesTouareg :: Squeak From Inside The Cabin
I searched and didn't come up with what i think is the issue although i'll check out what was found in my search.
2006 Toureg V6 squeak issue:
**sounds like it is coming from the front
**noticiceable from inside the cabin only from approx. 15+ mph
**squeak does not get louder as speed increases
**when brakes are applied and vehicle comes to a stop squeak goes away
**when vehicle begins to move forward again, squeak returns
Brakes have been checked thoroughly and tires are good to go.
Touareg :: Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Where exactly the cabin air filter is located and how to replace it? I bought a filter, It came with an instruction sheet that says the filter is in the passenger side foot well. I pulled off the cover under the dash and the cover on the side of the dash, no filter.
The top of the inside of the glove compartment has an allen wrench on the top of the compartment, (what is that for?) It looks like there are some phillip screws on the top inside of the glove compartment, but I thought I'd seek advice before I tore the entire car apart!
Touareg :: Hollow Noise In Cabin When Going Over Bumps
I have noticed for some time, over bumps that the cabin makes lots of noise. It doesn't sound solid, it almost gives a hollow noise when going over a bump or pot hole in the road. I hate that it doesn't sound solid. The noise resonates from the rear. Almost like a plunk, plunk noise.

Touareg :: 2009 - Diesel Smell In Cabin Coming Off The Highway
I just picked up a 2009 Touareg TDI. I have just one "issue" of concern. When I first picked it up and drove it home I noticed a bit of a diesel smell at intersections and when driving around town (in the vehicle mind you, not behind it. ;-) ).
I took it in to the dealer and they said they couldn't smell anything. Said they tested it on the rack, off the rack, took it out and drove it, and never smelled anything. They said to take it home and if I could still smell diesel to bring it back and they would give it a more intensive look.
I didn't notice anything after taking it home and all seemed to be well for a day. I did my daily commute today and after coming off the highway noticed what seemed like a little bit of exhaust coming in the vents like the other day. It definitely goes away entirely if you turn off the climatronic. It's kind of faint, but still noticeable. Is this normal for a TDI Touareg? What should I have them look for? Am I being overly sensitive to the smell of the diesel since this is my first TDI?
Touareg :: Driveline Bind When Making A Long / Accelerating Left Turn
Driving my '05 V8 around yesterday, I noticed a driveline bind like I get when making a long, accelerating left turn. Only this time, it was when I was going straight. It mostly happens when accelerating, right at a gear change. I find myself having to steer to the right to correct, then the bind, and the truck snaps to the left. I read up on the stepper motor issue on the FAQ's and it sounds like this could be a transfer case issue as well. I don't have a VAG-COM, so I can't scan for a code. I have checked all air pressures, and they're good. I have not noticed any abnormal tire wear, either.
I'm still getting a vibration/noise in the driver's foot well when feathering the throttle between 2500-3000 RPM, right at highway speeds, and it's enough to make you crazy. Dealership had the truck for over 30 days investigating this and blamed it on a bad tire. Two tires were replaced and put on the front. The noise is still there.
I'm also still getting what can best be described as a chain dragging noise coming out of the left side of the truck, apparently from the front end. I can hear it when driving with the windows down, up to about 35 mph, when wind noise masks it. The noise does not change at all with speed - it doesn't get louder, faster, or change pitch.
Touareg :: Ticking Under Heavy Acceleration And Strong Smell Of Exhaust In Cabin?
Not long ago my wife said the air recirc doesn't work any more on our '04 V8 and I had to admit that I agreed. After a little investigative driving, I noted that heavy acceleration (or uphill climb) causes V8 to tick (can hear it reflecting on passing walls, for instance) and strong smell of exhaust in cabin.
I thought it might be a manifold/exhaust system leak causing the noise and the exhaust smell. Seems to be only when driving aggressively or climbing. Soonest the local dealer can see it is 7/21 (16 days from now). You think it safe to drive?
Touareg :: Rattling Noise Inside Cabin - Doors Not Sealing Properly
I have grown extremely irritated over rattling inside the Touareg and decided to listen closely in an attempt to identify the guilty panels or whatever is causing all that noise that makes the cabin of my 2004 Touareg sound like the interior of a 1994 Ford Explorer with about 200,000 miles on it.
I identified the rear seat bench as a noise generator a while ago. I wrapped electrical tape around the latch bolts, but that didn't work too well. It seems that the rear middle arm rest rattles quite a bit in itself. The rest of the rattling seems to comes from the rear seat backs, but this is old news.
I noticed that the door panels (or at least that's what I thought) on the driver's door and right rear passenger door were rattling and creating a lot of noise. However, as much as I tried to hit (lightly) the door panel with the palm of my hand on different areas of the door panel, I couldn't get it to make the same noise.
After listening closer while I drove, it sounded like the doors themselves weren't quite closed. They sounded like they rattled on their latches. Something like taking off with a door ajar, but the noise isn't as pronounced. Then I remembered that every once in a while, during a visit to my friendly local car wash, water was entering my vehicle and accumulating on the rear seatbench. Upon closer inspection, I would notice that the water was getting in easily between the rubber door seal and and the door sill.
Two days ago, I decided to check something, and low and behold, I think I found the problem. Those two problem doors don't shut as tightly as the other two silent doors. I ran my fingers along the door crack near the door handles on all four doors and discovered that the two noisy doors "stuck out" some. Just a few millimeters (maybe 1 or 2 at most). I then tested it with a flat edge and it was even more apparent. I then stood behind the vehicle (far rear left and far rear right) and looked straight down the vehicle's edge and noticed that those two doors were sticking out.
I tried to loosen the door latches on the door sills to move the latches in a little, but I found that a T-40 torx is too small and a T-45 torx is too large. In fact, the T-40 worked on the top bolt on both front door sill latch hooks, but would strip the bottom bolt on the same door sill latch hooks. Those 8 point bolts are not torx (duh). I'll have to wait till Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here) to get this rattling fixed. I really hope that this eliminates most of the noises I am hearing. I notice that the front right door doesn't make any noise, and I also notice that that is the one door in the vehicle that needs to be shut extra hard in order for it the shut the first time. If it's not shut hard, it usually takes two or three tries to get it to shut. My 2003 GTI did this as well, with the very same door.
Passat (B5) :: 2002 - A/C Is On But No Cool Air?
We have a 2002 Passat and I just noticed over the last few days that when the AC is on, the air is definitely not cooling. There is nothing visibly wrong in terms of leaks or anything and it used to work incredibly well, but now it feels just like having the vent open.
View 2 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: AC Takes Too Much Time To Cool
My A/C hasn't been seeming too cold lately. It works, it just takes a lot longer than I remember it last summer to get cool. I checked my low-side port using a "EZ chill" gauge I just bought. Doors open, AC max cold, hi, recirculating and it was about 35 PSI - which I think is supposed to be about right.
But I've seen it's dependent on ambient temperature . It was 90 degrees outside. According to the "EZ chill" gauge, it suggests 45-55, which seems way to high to me.
