Tiguan :: Humming Sound While Idling?

If you listen closely, you can hear a weird humming sound while it's idling, not sure what it is. It doesn't happen all the time as far as I can remember.
Tiguan :: Engine Idling Really Rough Then RPMs Will Spike
It could happen once a month or 3 times a day. No pattern and never the first time I start my car for the day. But I will be running errands, park the tiguan, run into a store for 5, 15 or 30 minutes and when I get back in my car and start it up and go, it dies when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I know how to drive stick. This doesn't happen every time. I have called/taken it to the dealer 5 times and they have no clue because it never happens with them and I cannot predict when it will happen again. Also, on occasions, when i start my car, halfway through the day, the engine will idle really rough then the RPM's will spike and the car gives itself gas and my foot is definitely on the brake. These little issues are starting to piss me off, especially since the dealer just shrugs its shoulders.

So my wife's Tig has been acting a little goofy lately since it got cold out. The RPM's are almost always around 1,000 & the dealer says that it's set for 920 from the factory. In warmer weather, it idles at 800 RPM (like on my Tig).
Which is odd right there, but something they can't change they say. Anyways....so when it's idling high, when it's cold outside, there is a loud moaning/howling noise from the passenger side engine/dash area.
It only happens with your foot on the brake & in drive while idling. If you drop it to neutral, it doesn't do it. Only in Drive. So needless to say, you hear it at every stop light.
It's pretty intrusive and can't be missed. Even my wife, who is oblivious to such things, mentioned it to me. So I took it to the dealer and they clearly heard the noise too. A week later and no updates until yesterday.....He says that all their FWD Tiguans (auto trans) make the same noise. Only the 4motion doesn't. So they're just saying "they all do it," so it's normal.

VW can't figure out why there is a gas smell inside the cabin after start up. My Tiguan has been in the shop going on 4 times now. All seals have been checked and fuel pump replaced.

We got a new 2016 Tiguan recently and it's a good car but since mile 0 it's had an issue where if you run the AC cold for a few minutes, and then just turn off the AC (but keep the fan on) the car starts to smell pretty bad within 3-5 minutes. I'm talking the smelly feet, cheesy aroma stuff.
The hotter it is outside the more this accentuates. I used to have a 2012 GTI that would do that every now and then, especially at the start of the Spring but it would quickly go away after the first few days or some Lysol.
I assume this car was parked outside the dealership for many months so that may have caused it. I've taken it back to the dealer twice, first time they said they ran a full deodorization, whatever that means, and second time they said they couldn't find anything wrong.
I looked at the air cabin filter, looks brand new, only strange thing was the cover panel under the glovebox was missing, maybe from when they replaced the filter after my complaints. Car is sitting at 1400 miles now, if anything the smell is now worse and I'm taking it back to the dealership for a 3rd time tomorrow morning...

I'm getting a mildew smell every time I turn on the AC in my Tiguan. Even if the car is warmed up and shut off for 5 minutes, when turned on again, the smell is there. It's a 2012 with only 15k miles and the cabin filter is brand new. I was thinking of getting the mold sprays to apply directly to the vents. What to do to resolve it?

Recently picked up a 2009 Tiguan with 150.0k kms. I had my shop swap out the old spark plugs shortly after purchase along with oil change and quick go through. Shortly after I had the CEL come on with a read on the #2 injector. Through this time the CEL would come on/stay lit, the car would run rough after start and I could smell gas.
So back to the shop. I swapped out a coil to ensure it wasn't a coil issue with the same result, CEL on injector #2. I had a new injector put in on number #2 along with the new seal received when purchased. While running much more smooth now, I again have the CEL back on again on injector #2. This morning at start up the CEL came on and flashed this time a few times before staying lit. (misfire?).
I've read that it could actually be another injector which is causing #2 to fault but how do I determine which and if this is actually it?
Tiguan :: Power Loss And Strong Smell Of Fuel
My wife was driving to work today and she called me when she was almost to work and said that when she was at the red-light and said when she started from the red-light the car was fine and she hit a certain rpm and the rpm's dropped and there was a strong smell of fuel. The car was still running and would idle fine but was running almost like it was flooded or had a miss like a coil pack or spark plug. There was no check engine so I am not sure I haven't got to look at the car yet.
I forgot to mention a few months back she had a check engine for the intake manifold runner flap called the dealer and set up an appointment to take it in. Took it up and by the time we got there the check engine was off and car was running fine no issues. They said no sense in bringing it in now just set another appointment if it comes back on which it never has and still isn't on but I am wondering if this problem is related to that? I know for sure that the car is still covered under the enhanced warranty for the injectors and intake manifold.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - Strong Gas Smell When Idling
I have a 2004 Jetta w/ the 2.0 engine, auto transmission. Lately it has developed a very gassy smell when idling. Could be all the time I guess, but I only ever notice it when idling. It seems more noticeable on the passenger side of the car, or maybe my wife just has a better sense of smell than I do since she noticed it before I did.
The car seems to run fine, about the same as it always has. The idle is slightly rough, but it has been like that ever since I got the car. I got it with about 110,000 miles on it and had the timing belt and water pump replaced as soon as I got it. Mileage now is about 130,000. No info on the maintenance history of the car, but when I had the timing belt changed they said it looked like it was probably the original one.
The check engine light has never come on. I think I'm due for some new spark plugs so I was going to be replacing them soon anyways. Not sure what to check out here that might be causing this?

'05 1.8T with 30K miles: Sometimes, when the car is stopped and idling, an oil burning kind of smell comes in through the ventilation system. I can also smell it outside. I had the dealer (a good one) check it out. Couldn't find anything. No sign of leakage anywhere. Where I or they should be looking? When I open the hood during these smell events, I can't see any smoke or tell exactly where it's coming from. It seems to be around the driver's side of the engine, but all the heat is on the other side around the exhaust and turbo. Weird. It's really starting to annoy me.

I have a 2004 Turbo Forester. It's been maintained since purchased new at the same dealer with oil changes every 3500 miles or so and all the "big" required/recommended maintenance every 15000 miles. After the 75000 mile check, I kept smelling a burning oil smell, especially when car was idling. I had it back to the dealer several times but they couldn't find anything wrong. The car did not seem to be using excess oil, there were no "puddles" under the car where it was parked. Today I brought the car in for routine oil change (78400 miles). On the way in, started smelling the burning smell again and saw smoke around the turbo charger.
The mechanic saw "Moisture" (oil?) around a lower bolt on the heat shield around the turbo charger. He said it was likely a failing turbo charger causing oil to leak on making that bolt wet? The engine is not making any noise, nor is the turbocharger, and there was no "check engine light" illuminated. I'm scared now to take the care elsewhere for a second opinion...don't really want to drive it and trash the engine. It's out of warranty now, and this is a painfully expensive fix that couldn't have come at a worse time on a car that's been maintained "by the book". I'm reading a lot about this "banjo bolt screen" problem. Would that be something to find out about on a 2004 Forester? Is there anything else that could be causing the problem (mechanic couldn't think of anything).

So every once in a while, probably a dozen times, over the winter I am idling at a stop light and smell a bad burning smell. It doesn't matter if I have my heat on, or if I switch the temp all the way to cold. It smells like burning rubber or plastic. So far there doesn't seem to be a common factor involved. Doesn't matter the temp outside or how long I have been driving the car. Haven't noticed a loss in fluids, no puddles under my car. And it's not a sweet antifreeze smell.

Tiguan :: Thud Noise Around The Back Tires When Braking And Burning Rubber Smell
I just picked up my new Tiguan Wolfsburg yesterday. Beautiful! Drives wonderfully! But an odd thing, I noticed that as I brake, there is this thud, thud, thud noise around the back tires; almost like something is hitting the tire because the thud interval slows as the car slows. Then, when I got out after a 10 mile drive home, I noticed the heavy scent of burning rubber. Does this sound at all like a new car settling in, or possible issues already?

Whenever the temperature is below 20 degrees F and am idling at a stop light, if I have the heater fan running I get a horrible exhaust smell inside my car. I have discovered that I can lessen the bad smell by turning off the fans when the car is idling and then turning it back on when I start to drive.
