Camry :: 2007 V6 Loss Of Power - Strong Smell Of Fuel After Driving
My dad's Camry (which I also drive), has been having a problem since a couple of months now. Whenever I floor the vehicle, you can feel the power kick in but after a couple seconds you can feel a slightly lack of power. Its not like the car doesn't accelerates, but it does feels like if you release the pedal a bit.
The car also has the following issues:
-Shifting problems: The car has been having shifting problems due to the automatic transmission fluid temperature sensor (don't know if this may cause the ecu to go in some sort of "emergency mode" and reduce the power a bit)
-Strong fuel smell after driving: After some driving, you can smell fuel mainly at the back of the car.
I'm thinking in about changing the sparkplugs as we have never done it to the car. Car has 80.000km (50.000 miles) Car is a Toyota Camry 2007 V6 3.5 2GR-FE
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Fuel Smell On And Off / Strong Odor Of Diesel
I have been smelling fuel on and off for the last few weeks. I thought it was the fuel bowl drain valve so I ordered the kit for the whole fuel bowl from diesel o-rings. I did the rebuild this morning and I don't see any visual leaks. Still smell a strong odor of diesel though. The lower engine cradle is all wet and the valley is still a little wet too. Could I still have a leak and if so where to look? Could it be just wet still from draining the fuel bowl and needs time to go away?
View 14 RepliesGolf V R32 :: Temporary Loss Of Power And Fuel Smell Intermittently
I live in NM. It's been excessively hot here this summer, 95+ daily for the past 2 months.
Yesterday while I was driving I noticed a weird feel in the accelerator pedal. Almost like a mini-misfire. It was intermittent. Maybe did it 6 or so times in a 10 minute time span. My wife couldn't feel it in the passenger seat but I definitely felt it through the pedal. There was no MIL light during or after the incident.
We get home, she gets out on the passenger side and there was a strong fuel smell (tank, filler, and filter are on that side). By the time I got the car up in the air and the rear passenger tire off and fender liner out the smell had dissipated (probably evaporated due to the high temperature). There were no noticeable leaks. No dripping. Before I had it in the air I definitely smelled fuel underneath the car around the rear passenger side. I opened the hood and didn't smell or see anything in the engine bay.
I called VW customer care and they informed me this recall of the fuel tank ventilation valve was performed back in 2009 but the symptoms explained in the recall are exactly what I experienced. I verified the recall was done using my VIN number search on NHTSA's Safer Car site.
I can imagine that although the recall was done 7 years ago, it's still possible for this ventilation valve to fail. Especially because the recall states high ambient temps are a factor.
I have a legit VCDS but have not scanned it yet. Wife is off today so I took her car. I plan to go home, scan the car, and try to reproduce the issue before taking the fender liner out again. I have the means to do my own work but if I have to do something like drop the fuel tank I'll probably take it in.
Tiguan :: 2012 - Loss Of Power / EPC And Check Engine Light - Fuel Pump Failure
Well I had the dreaded loss of power and EPC/Check Engine light happen on Monday. Was driving down the Interstate and all of sudden we just lost power. It did not go completely dead, but it ran like crap. Called the local VW and they advised to bring it in, still under warranty (27k, 26mths) and it turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump. They replaced the pump and the replacement was bad! Luckily they tested it before they got it out the door back to me. Provided me with a loaner and the dealer had to get a replacement pump overnight. Picked up the car yesterday and everything drives the way it should again.
I had already had the software update, but according to the service advisor that was for the fuel pump in the tank, not the one on the engine. Not sure if that is correct, but that is what the advisor told me..
IS F (2008-2014) :: Car Giving Off Strong Fuel Smell
Today while leaving work my car was giving off a strong fuel smell. Wife noticed the garage stunk of gasoline when she got home.
I removed the engine cover just now, and ran the car and checked for any leaks around the fuel rail area, but didn't notice anything.
IS F (2008-2014) :: Strong Fuel Smell While Driving
So I had my sikky headers installed about 3 weeks ago by JE import. Since then they have been a constant hassle by installing a faulty O2 simulator which made me have to get in the car yet again drive to them an hour an a half away.
After another week I got CEL for a second time. After they fixed the faulty O2 sim....
Recently I have noticed a very strong fuel smell while driving. I understand you might get a fuel smell while at a light and the windows are down but I am experience one at cruising speed. I have gotten my car lifted three times in the past week to tighten the flanges connecting to the joeZ as well as checked for leaks (none were found) and there still is this strong smell
I do not want to install high flow cats.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Strong Fuel Smell In Cabin
I have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with 83k on it. For some months now, I have always been smelling strong fuel scent in the cabin. I took it to the workshop and was told it's my fuel canister so i handed money to the Mechanic to buy one to replace it. He called back to tell me he cannot get one to but can work on it by blocking the pipes or lines. I am not that convinced because i know the canister is there for a purpose so if he goes ahead to block the pipe or whatever, then it means something else can go wrong in the interim; but I'm in a quandary now and want that fuel scent to stop.
View 1 RepliesElantra HD (2006-10) :: Strong Fuel Smell Inside Car
I'm getting a strong fuel smell inside my car typically after i fill the tank regardless of how much i fuel i put in. What could be causing this?
View 4 RepliesPassat (B5) :: CEL On For Code PO456 / Strong Fuel Smell On Fill Up
Ok, 04 Passat, 1.8T AWM
CEL is on for po456 (very small evap leak) and every time I fill up on fuel, I can smell a STRONG fuel odor, from near the fuel neck, and inside the car. Stops after it hits around 3/4 area. No leaks, and the car runs fine. Gas cap, and N80 valve were just replaced, both parts are from the dealer. I'm going to bring it in for a smoke test soon. All recall notices have been done too, I just did the timing belt.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Strong Smell Of Fuel From Under Car But No Visible Leak
I have an Oct 2001 2.7 GLS which apart from the odd ABS Tone Wheel and speed sensor issues has been uber reliable and a real pleasure to own (I've had it from new).
We had a problem about a year ago when the wife didn't get the fuel cut-off when filling up and over filled the car resulting in fuel pouring out of the tank vent and down the fuel tank under the car but after a long drive that cleared up and has not happened again. Interestingly we didn't get any engine CEL's or have any codes turn up at all when checked by my mechanic.
Over the past couple of weeks we have noticed a very strong smell of fuel under the car around the fuel tank. I can't see any indication that there is a fuel leak but have noticed when filling up that the smell is very strong and as the car runs the fuel down the smell reduces to almost nothing.
Today I removed the rear seats and the fuel pump access panels to see if there was any seeping around the pump gaskets but couldn't see anything and the top of the tank around the both pumps was a dry as a bone. Using a torch I did however notice that there was a darkening of the fuel tank surface in the centre which I guess is close to the vent valve, part 311990b:
Or maybe is where the fuel vent pipe runs to?
Oldsmobile - Silhouette :: Chugs When Turn The Key Then Start With Strong Fuel Smell
I have a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette which has been a great car, but due to its age has had some issues in the past year. The most recent is that it does not start well. When I turn the key, it chugs but I have to push the gas to get it to start and then there is a very strong fuel smell. We had it "tuned up" recently, but that did not work ( in fact the starting has gotten worse).
View 1 RepliesFord Excursion :: Strong Smell Of Gas At The Back Of The Truck / Fuel Tank Pressurizing
On a recent long drive home through some very hot weather, I noticed a strong smell of gas at the back of the truck. Now, I've caught a whiff of gas before the trip but it was always faint. Figured it was some gas that dripped on fill up.
At a rest area, I go and look around see no leaks and finally check the fuel cap. Lots of pressure trapped. I ended up leaving the cap off the rest of the run home. Can't find a cause.
Subaru - Baja :: 2003 - Strong Fuel Smell Coming From Left / Driver Side Of The Car
03 Baja, 4cyl, automatic. 195,000+Every now and again I get a fuel smell. Full tank, empty tank, half a tank... doesn't seem to matter. Usually switching up the gas I put in clears the issue. This time, not so much. Really strong and causing me to banish the car for the garage due to it stinking up the house. The odor MAY be coming from the left/drivers side of the car. (I only say this as if it is outside in the parking lot, I notice it more on that side.
View 4 RepliesTiguan :: 2011 - Lower MPG Due To Fuel Loss?
So I just filled my wife's 11 Tig up and it averaged 17mpg! She doesn't drive it hard or heavy on the gas so this kinda sucks.
My only idea that I'm hoping someone can confirm/deny is we recently got both lower fuel pumps replaced under warrenty. During that process could there have been some fuel loss that would cause such low MPG? We use premium fuel as well
Tiguan :: Terrible Loss In Fuel Economy - Bad Mileage
So, I had a catback Magnaflow exhaust put on my Tiguan a while back and ever since then my mileage has gone from a steady 28 highway to 15!!! its a crazy loss in fuel, and I brought it to the shop and they said there is nothing they can find....
My first thoughts are that the turbo is under boosting because of the amount of carbon build up on the exhaust tips....
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Strong Exhaust Smell On Cold Start?
We've had a run of -20 to -40 weather here for the past few weeks.
A few weeks back I noticed that when I climbed into my truck after command-start warm up for 10 minutes, and I could smell strong exhaust.
I figured it was hopefully the wind, or an isolated event.
Over the past few weeks I've used my truck for 3-4 more around town runs and every time I warm it up I get the strong exhaust smell. It's that rich, eye watering, sickening exhaust smell. I also notice a small yellow frozen puddle under the exhaust tips that wasn't there before.
It's bad in the cab, but even walking around outside the truck and the smell is sickening. I actually just started the truck and I could actually smell the exhaust smell faintly, from inside my house! This has never before occurred. Prior to this, a person could hardly tell it was a diesel by the smell of the exhaust.
Once the truck is up to temperature the smell seems to disappear, or at least lessen.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Strong Coolant Smell Happens When Accelerating Up To Freeway Speeds Or Passing Cars
Why I am smelling coolant? I have a 2004 6.0 SD.It generally happens when accelerating up to freeway speeds or passing cars, Medium to hard acceleration and the smell is strong and will go away after a few min. The obvious thing is to check for a leak but I haven’t seen any.
View 14 RepliesTiguan :: 2012 - Power Loss Over 60 Mph?
I am a new owner of 2012 VW Tiguan basic model. I noticed that AWD was replaced by 4Motion was told it is AWD in VW. I drove two AWD (Outlook and Edge) before but they are quite different from I have now with this Tiguan. When driving less than 50 mph, it is perfect and normal. I fell no difference from I had with previous AWAD. However, when speed exceeds 60 mph, I can feel the "active driving" control kick in to intervene my powertrain. If you sit entirely on your seat, you can feel the car body try to swing a twist occasionally, it come and go and let me feel the car is running unstable. I actually have an advanced degree in ME and have been working on auto industries for years. But this is strange to me. I have some theory below:
1) something wrong with 4motion, it activates too fast or violently to cause tail twist (it is like you brake one rear wheel as tag and go style, so that your car still go but your tail swing a little bit)
2) unbalanced rear differential (due to dirty debris or grease?) such that one wheel has more resistant drag than the other? As 4Motion activated thru multi-disk clutch, the abrupt force cause two wheel rotate at slight different speed to swing the rear body? BTW, are these multi-disc controlled by on-off type or PWM? and at what speed, it activate? My previous AWD seem to be passive type with purely hydraulic to pass torque.
3) miss-calibration on the 4motion activation map? is there a way to smooth the clutch locking mechanism by sequential locking or increase the locking period? VW AD said about timely 4 wheel drive mechanical system. I would like to what timely means in this incidence?
4) Either front wheel aligned such as not enough toe-in or toe-out? I just have the car for one week. I plan to bring it back to check for remedy. Or 4 wheel miss aligned? but it is hard to explain why the car run normal under 50 mph?
My car is 2012 VW Tiguan with 40000 miles, turbo, basic trim and no navigation. Not even a compass? It does have a nice white car body to show if the door is open.
Tiguan :: Sudden Loss Of Power Right After First Acceleration When Engine Started
Lately having the following issues with my Tig.
When starting up the engine on cold start (or after having the car sit for about 30 minutes) after about 10 - 20 seconds; pretty much right after first acceleration the car all of a sudden looses all power. RPM fall down even when accelerating. Accelerating more only let's the engine stall more.
5-10 seconds later the engine functions normal again.... What problem could that be ?
