Prius V :: 2012 Makes A Humming Noise / High And Low Pitch But No Longer Than 2 Minutes

My Pruis v makes a humming noise. Sometimes. Doesn't happen all the time. Don't know when it will happen. When it does happen, the car makes a humming noise. High pitch and low pitch-no longer than 2 minutes. Seems to be coming from the right side of the vehicle. It is embarassing when we have friends in the car, the noise comes on , and the friend asks, 'what's that noise' and i shrug my shoulders-i don't know.Took it to service. Manager said he has to hear it to determine what/where it is coming from. If it isn't making the noise, he can't tell me where it is coming from. Took it back today and now we have a loaner so he can drive it for a couple of days to try to hear the noise.

Golf/GTI VI :: 2012 - Trans Makes A Marbles In A Can Noise With Clutch Out In Neutral

2012 Golf 2.5 5 speed.

To keep it short: car has been making this noise since day one. Only happens once things have warmed up (20-30 minute drive). Push the clutch in and the noise goes away. This video was taken with the phone placed on the driver side front wheel.

Trans makes a "marbles in a can" noise with clutch out in neutral and when pushed in everything gets quiet. It's driving me nuts and I just have to know if its normal. The dealer told me its "play in the bearings of the trans because they aren't engineered with the tightest tolerances"

Here's the link to the video.....

Cavalier - Chevrolet :: 2005 - Makes Vibrating Noise Especially Between 40 To 65 MPH

I have a 2005 Chevy Cavalier and have been realizing that the ride has been getting noisier, but when I make a left hand turn ( or even turn the wheel 5 degrees or so to the left) it is much quieter. It sounds like a low vibrating sound and seems to shake the whole front end of my chassis. I can feel the vibration through the gas pedal, and it continues even when in nuetral or without the gas depressed. It is worse between 40-65 mph. Loose parts, misalignment, motor mounts, bad belts? And what it might cost to have this fixed?

Chevrolet - Cavalier :: 2002 - Trans Slipping When Shifts Into A Higher Gear

2002 CAvalier 2.2 automatic with 123'000 miles. I was asked to look at this car for a slipping trans problem.

I drove the car about 3 miles and in 1st and Reverse it feels normal, even on a steep hill, but once it shifts into a higher gear the trans slips and you can go only about 15mph.It is shifting, because if you move the shifter into a lower gear while traveling....you can feel it downshift.

There is a code of P0502 Vehicle speed sensor. and there is no Trans fluid visible thru the filler cap on the trans top.

Previously someone else worked on this car for the slipping trans....changed some sensors....but couldn't fix the problem. The owners don't know what parts he replaced. He works for a Tire outfit and I've known him to lean towards used parts a lot.The previous mechanic convinced them that it needs a new Cluster. I presume he means instrument cluster.

I have a feeling that he just threw parts at it hoping that something would stick.

I presume that he replaced the VSS, and it didn't cure the problem.Come to think of it....the code could be from before the other persons work. I should have cleared the code and test drove it again.

I'm looking at dropping the pan, replacing the filter, refill the fluid, and replace the VSS

My questions: Could a instrument cluster have anything to do with the shifting problem.

Is the level of trans fluid supposed to be above the ledge under the filler cap, or is there a "full level" plug in the side of the trans. If he replaced the VSS with a new one....and the fluid level is good....whats my next step.

Chevy - Silverado :: 1997 - CSFI Makes Whistling Noise And Sequential Fuel Box Vibrating

I have a 1997 Chevrolet pickup, the No.5 Spark Plug Builds up and fires to one side, I can drive up to 50 miles per hr and it misses once in a while, I can get up to 60-65 and it does the same. I changed out no.5 Fuel injector and it still misses, I changed out the seals on no 5 valve, I changed out the fuel filter; and the CSFI makes a whistling noise & the sequential fuel box makes a vibration. I can put the old filter back on and it doesn't whistle or vibrate. I put the new filter back on it whistles and vibrates the sequential fuel box. The trouble light does not come on and tells me to check the engine. Do I need to replace the fuel pump?

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Trans Shifts Hardly - Stays In 5th Gear - Torque Converter?

Ok so here is my problem now. I'm sure its in the tramny but not sure what else. My shift from 3-5 has always been a little hard. Yesterday on my way to work I noticed shifts 1 thru 3 were hitting hard. Once I got up to 65 mph it was okay. Then pulling into work when I shifted to reverse it didn't go into gear right away and then it would hit into gear. Later that evening on my way home from work it was shifting the same but seemed worse. Then my tow/haul light started flashing and it seemed like the torque convertor wouldn't lock in. It would just stay in 5th gear and the more throttle I gave it the rpms would go up but I would only get a little response from it. Then a few miles down the road it just completely shut off on me. It will not even try to turn over. I could also hear a noise coming from underneath the truck. Something ive never heard before. I really need to figure this out

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Axle Makes Humming Noise When Stopping

So I just but my golf about a month ago and have hit many problems but the most annoying is the hum I get at 3500 rpms. In my searching I feel somewhat confident this is caused by a cheap right axle replacement. I also went under and found on the left axle markings that indicate its is oem VW and I was unable to find these on the right side. anyway I have found this: [URL]....

It says it is a hollow axle right there and it is 170 less than the cheapest oem one I have found. would this workout?

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: Brakes Makes Loud Humming Noise When Pressed

2007 GS 350. In the past 6 months i have changed my FRONT brake pads with two different pair. First was a generic pad(REMOVED), and did some research then went for Akebono(CURRENTLY) brake pads 2-months noise-free and now back to braking noise dilemma.

Issues:
-In the morning, first 3-5 pressed brakes makes loud(REALLY LOUD!) humming noise then goes away. Feels like the brakes are rusty but it continually does it everyday. I just got the car serviced so assuming all my fluids are filled.
-Randomly, on a fully stopped brake i hear a whistle noise from the front brake. NOT as loud described above.
-I noticed the noise happened the most on HOT weather, and occasionally on COLD weather.

Longo Lexus advice me to buy an OEM brake pads and should resolve this problem. I'm also thinking of just getting it done at the dealership and pay that extra cash plus warranty.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Engine / Exhaust Makes Loud Humming Noise At 75 To 82 Mph?

2005 jetta. On the highway when I hit about 75mph I hear this loud humming coming from either the engine or the exhaust, I'm not sure. It disappears immediately once I cross about 82mph. What could this be? Why such a specific range?

Camry 2012+ :: Sputtering / Vibrating At High Gear

We have a 2012 camry with about 65,000 miles on it. Recently we've noticed that when the car is in a high gear (5th or 6th) and the RPMs are around 1000-1200 the car feels like its sputtering/shaking. almost like its in too low of a gear. Kind of feels like you're driving on a very rough road.....it happens when you're driving around 35-45mph with your foot barely on the gas. if i give it a little more gas to get the RPMs a little higher it's ok. other than this the car runs perfectly fine. Don't notice any issues on the highway. I don't have any CEL.

initially i thought it had something to do with the torque converter issue that folks were notified by in the mail. we already had the update done but that's not it. The more i research this i think it's probably a fuel/spark issue like dirty injector or bad wire.... I dont think its the trans.

Golf V R32 :: 2008 - Humming Noise Stays Until Radio Completely Powers Off

Ok so this has been driving me nuts now for a couple days. When I listen to the reg radio, not noticeable. When i use xm, I switch channels and there is a very noticeable humming noise. Now the louder i turn the volume up the louder the humming gets. It makes the stations sound horrible. Not the same in FM! If i turn the car off the humming noise stays until the radio completely powers off. Everything is stock, stock NAV unit, stock speakers, no add on's. What am i missing before i go chasing gremlins. Some say its the amp, some says its the nav unit. How can i narrow down what it is?

Camry :: 2003 XLE With Automatic Trans - Loud Humming Noise Over 40 Mph

Problem that developed after our 03 xle got whacked by a Harley in the right front wheel. The repair shop changed out the spindle and wheel but we got it back with a loud humming noise over 40 mph. The shop said it was the axle shaft bearing and not related. I argued and the insurance company reluctantly agreed to replace the shaft, bearing, and housing. Got the car back and again, the same humming only less faint and obviously coming from the trans. Everyone is dodging responsibility and it looks like we are left to sort things out on our own. Figures. This car road perfectly prior to the accident. I can't find any online diagrams of the trans to see what the shaft fits into. Supposedly the shop is holding on to the old shaft, I was going to go and look at the end splines, I believe that's what it has.

Tiguan :: 2012 2.0 TSI Trembles Until Gear Goes One Level Down

I bought a tiguan 2012 2.0 TSI and I think there are some problems with it. First of all, when the car is riding in low rotation, it trembles until the car gear goes one level down. Is it normal or am I driving wrong??? It happens because I do not like to pull down the accelerator hardly. Another think is that the sound frame is kind of loose. I have noticed in other cars that it is normal. Is it?? I tried the 95 octanes petrol and it worked the same way. I went to a vw dealer and did a test drive and I also noticed the same problem. Why does it happen??

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2012 F350 - Trans Would Not Shift Into 6th Gear

My Father In-law has a 2012 f-350 Dually with 4K miles. He tows a 9K lb camper and until our last trip the truck ram flawlessly. On our return from Myrtle Beach to central NC we were on a freeway traveling at 63 MPH and his tranny would not shift into 6th gear. Tow haul was on. There was some headwind (10MPH) but no large grades or any reason we can think of not to allow an up shift. His display did show a countdown to empty of the exhaust fluid 450 miles to empty.

He took the truck in for service and no codes were found. Dealer did not find any TSB's addressing the tranny issues. Is the sixth gear up shift in tow haul set very conservative? Does it hold 5th unless the load is below a certain value? Other trips we have been on have been mountain towing so 6th gear shift would have been on down hill or level sections. Dealer wants us to bring it to them when it won't up shift next time but dealer is not along a freeway.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: 2012 - Strange Vibrating Noise / Brakes Squeak When Stopped

I recently bought a new Elantra 2012, 2 months ago. While driving it during the first month, I heard a strange vibrating noise. I went to the dealer, since it's under warranty until 2019, and they told me that when Hyundai did their recall on their Engines, the head gasket was constructed wrong and they just had to order another head to fix it.

Fast-forward two weeks and I finally got my car back. At first, it's perfect! No noise or anything, but about a week later, yesterday, it starts to make the noise again.

For my second noise, I know it's the brakes. They squeak when I stop, even though the company I bought the car from is not allowed to sell brakes >50%, I'm assuming they did anyway. The problem I have with this is that yesterday, while on the highway, the breaks made the squealing noise regardless if I was braking or not. As long as the car was in motion, it made noise. Should I be concerned about this?

Passat (B5) :: Makes Horrible Noise - Can't Get It Into Driving Gear

I got this car off of a friend of mine who drove it drunk until the noise from the back wheel was too loud to handle. about 30 miles. he changed the "wheel" put on the spare and drove it for about another month.
during that time, the shifting began to get a little "iffy". he then brought it in to get the brakes done, and as soon as it came off of the lift . it wouldn't go into gear. instead it just makes a horrible noise from the area of the "output shaft" or where i would assume the prop shaft " flange" would be.

that being said. Every once in a while you can get it to go into gear. just by continually putting it from park to drive. and when it goes into gear the noise stops and it drives "fine" but only for about 30 seconds. and then it pops back "out of gear" and makes the noise again.
