Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Calipers Changed Now Rubbing Noise When Braking

I discovered a few weeks ago that my 2009 Sonata 2.4L SE had a sticking caliper on the rear driver's side. It had gone bad on the passenger side as well, but not as bad. I had the calipers, rotors, and pads replaced on the rear yesterday. As soon as that was done, I started hearing a noise when braking that sounded like a rubbing noise, almost like a long "sigh." It happened at any speed as long as I pressed the pedal far enough to bring the vehicle almost to a complete stop.

I originally thought the calipers weren't the right fit, but the parts I confirmed the parts I ordered (Nastra) through Rock Auto were correct. I've driven about 80 miles since then and nothing has changed. I didn't see anything wrong when I took the tire off, but I don't think this sound is normal. Taking it in to the mechanic tomorrow. Could it be a wheel bearing? Wrong parts?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Clunking Noise At Low Speeds / Braking Or Accelerating Away From Stop Lights

2007 Sonata 3.3. Crunching, clunking noise at low speeds, braking or accelerating away from stop lights. Noise disappears at speeds over 25-30 mph. Noise can be replicated by rocking car forward and backward while in park, with engine turned off. Rocking side to side does not reproduce noise. Bouncing car suspension at all four corners does not reproduce noise. Hood open, rocking forward and backwards, noise seems to be coming from behind engine, and with hand on engine motion can be felt. I'm thinking engine mount, but how can I get a good look at it to check?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2008 GLS - Light Knocking Noise When Car Is Idling

I didn't know my car was low on oil and the oil light never came on. The car has been working flawlessly till I got home and I heard a really weird knocking noise and it's a light knocking noise when the car is idling but when I press the gas pedal the noise becomes louder. The noise sounds like its internal it's coming from behind the engine near the exhaust manifold where the spark plugs are located. I have changed the spark plugs and drained and added new oil into the car but that still didn't fix the issue. The car has about 129,625 miles on it and is in mint condition buying a new engine would be pointless knowing that the value of the new engine is basically the value of buying another used car.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2008 - Grinding Noise When Shift From First To Second Gear

I am now getting a grinding noise when I shift from first to second gear. It sounds like the two metals rubbing each other. Its not happening all the time, but for the past two days a bit frequently

I had reported this grinding noise when I turn left a month back. Was thinking because of my worn out tyres, but apparently not.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2009 - Pop Or Clunk When Braking

I get a pop or a clunk from the front drivers side when I brake. It used to happen less often but I took it to the dealer to fix and they lubricated the caliper pins and now it happens frequently. I've read that the Sonata has some issues with the calipers. I would like to repair it and lubing the calipers made it worse.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Wheel Shakes When Braking At Speeds Of 80 Plus

My 06 sonata's steering wheel recently started shaking when I am braking from speeds of 80+ also a little when going down really steep hills. This happened once before when I got new front tires because the tire shop didn't balance the tires correctly. I know it could also mean warped rotors but in my experience rotors only become warped when you drive them with really low pads. Btw the car has 46k miles on it, and it is a 3.3 liter v6 gls.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rotational Squeal When Lightly Braking

I just did the brakes on all four wheels of my 06. I replaced the rotors and pads all the way around with Powerstop parts. I got them from RockAuto.COM as a complete set. The rotors were made in China generic looking things and the pads were Powerstop Evolution Ceramic Disc Brake pads.

Anyhow, I drove around to bed the brakes after getting them installed and now the passenger front tire as a small "rotational squeal" when you are lightly braking.

Oh, one more thing, I'll admit this up front. I did not put any grease on the back of the pads. This was mostly due to I wasn't sure exactly where or how much grease to use.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Stutter When Slowly Braking And Turning

As the topic says, I get a slight stutter in the car when I'm say parking into a parking spot. As I get closer to 0 mph i feel the car kinda jerk a little bit.

It's done this since we bought it off a used car lot, and I figured it was the tranny fluid being burned or low. I did a drain/fill twice over the last weekend, and noticed while it has worked forthe issue, it's not fully rectified.

I also notice that 60-80% of the time when LIGHTLY accelerating, going from 1st to 2nd is kinda rough. If i floor it, it's actually pretty smooth.

It doesn't feel like anything "BAD" is happening - no grinding, doesn't feel like slippage...

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear Thunk / Knocking When Braking

Alright so my 06 is at about 102,xxx right now and has given me no major issues (knock on wood) besides this stupid noise that I cant pin point to fix. So far I've narrowed it down to this, sounds like its coming from the right rear and usually only happens when I am slowing down and or braking. Ive also taken note that it only happens when its really hot outside , all signs have been pointing to the rotors and brakes but i need some thoughts/opinions on what else it could be before i shell out almost $200 to get my brakes fixed. Here are some more details about the car

Rear pads replaced sometime last year they still have meat on them but i did not replace rotors nor did i get them turned.

I am sure that the noise is coming from the rear, ive been half way in the trunk while my buddy drove and i hear it coming from right rear.

Shocks have been replaced (noise was occurring before replacing them)

Nothing seems loose everything seems to be tightened down right.

Tires are brand new (noise was there before getting tires and after)

Mufflers are secured normal wiggle mounts look good.

Emergency Shoes have never been replaced but look ok.

Wheel hub looked great when i took it apart (Looks new doubt its that)

It happens when I am braking from 35mph below or sometimes 0 to 35 40mph rolling no braking then it goes away.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Knocking / Thumping In Rear When Accelerating Or Braking

When accelerating and/or braking, a thumping or knocking noise comes from the rear of the car. I do not believe it's my shocks, as there is no noise when going over bumps, only accelerating and stopping. What may be the cause? Control arms maybe?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2007 3.3L - Popping Sound When Turning Right While Braking

I'm experiencing a really annoying issue with my 2007 3.3L sonata. Whenever I am making a right turn (with the breaks applied), I hear a knocking or "popping" sound from the driver's side front end. It's not a single "pop", but multiple "pop"..."pop"..."pop". The noise does not occur when making a right turn without the breaks applied, not does it happen when making left turns. Also, during a right turn, if I release the breaks, the sound will immediately stop. The car only has 64k KM (about 40k miles).

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear Brakes Shudder When Braking On Highway

I just bought a 2007 Sonata V6 (GL or GLS). Before buying the car, the last owner had the rear brakes "serviced" because the mechanic said the brakes were "sticking" - charged the old owner $300 for it. When I am on the highway and I brake, the rear brakes shudder. Do you think the shudder is because the rear brakes are still sticking, or because it needs new rotors?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Blower Motor Stopping And Lights Dimming When Braking

My wife has a 2006 Sonata and it ran great up until about a month ago, she started noticing when she hits the brakes and sometimes when she hits the gas the a/c blower motor would stop blowing for a second and all the lights would dim. So i drove the car for a day and she was right. the blower motor shuts off and the lights dim for roughly 1 second during breaking then it all works fine again.

What this could be? the car has no check engine light on or anything. I was hoping this is a common thing with a known fix.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Clicking Noise When Braking

I purchased a 2011 Sonata Limited Edition TODAY. It was a lucky find as the car has less than 30k miles. As I was driving home (back roads and interstate), I heard a clicking noise every time I hit the brakes. I do not hear this noise when I back up and brake, only when the car is in drive and I am braking.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Metal Grinding Noise When Braking?

My car is making metal grinding noise when coming to a slow stop when you are stuck on traffic or going into your driveway. You can hear the sound and feel the sound.

I had this issue a year go and i took it to the dealer and they told me that i need to replace my rotors and my front brake pads.

A year later the noise came back and they told me that i need to replace my pads. I replaced my front break pads and a month later the noise is back. I went back and checked my pads and the pads were still new.

I only hear the sound when braking after driving in a heavy traffic or on a stop and go traffic. I don't hear the sound when i start to drive or driving in a non traffic condition.

Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Exhaust Noise At Idle While Braking

I have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0 Turbo. I just noticed last night that when I'm idle at a drive through or just starting off, going maybe 5 mph if that, that there is what I think is an exhaust noise coming from outside the car. I don't notice this sound anytime else except when at idle maybe pressing on the brake letting the car coast through a drive through or when parking. Far from a mechanic here. I just joined to maybe find out if I should schedule service immediately for something like this or wait.

I'm worried I might have torn something on the bottom of the car because I have taken it down a normally dirt road that was covered in snow and ice and bottomed out several times. I only idled down that road, going slow enough that the speedometer didn't even register. That was at least 2 weeks ago. Last night however, I went up a small hill in a parking lot, just at idle speed and heard a scrape, so bottomed out again. Didn't hear anything until about 1 hour after I got home when I went outside to move my car for the plow guy.

It's strange because today I didn't hear it when I started up the car, but only heard it when I went through the Dunkin Donuts drive through. I had my foot on the brake and the engine idling and it sounded like exhaust or the mufflers or something. Could it be that maybe water and snow got in something on the underneath of my car, and the exhaust is trying to "spit" it out?.

Hyundai - Sonata :: 2010 - Making Noise When Braking?

I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata with 88,400 miles and I am hearing a knocking noise in my rear right wheel whenever I apply light to medium pressure to my brakes (I don't hear anything when I brake hard). It started a year ago and I heard it throughout the summer. But in the winter, I didn't hear anything. Now that it's getting warmer again, the noise is starting to come back. I've taken it to my mechanic numerous times and he doesn't know what it is. I had my brake pads and rotors replaced just before the noise started a year ago. Here is a video of what the noise sounds like (this isn't me, but the same scenario

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2006 - Shaking And Pulsating When Braking

After my 2006 Ford F150 Lariet started shaking and pulsating when braking (38,000 miles) I took the truck to the Ford dealer and asked to have my brake pads checked. They came back and siad they looked fine and I had alot of wear left. Then I mentioned that is was shaking and asked them to check it again, they drove it and then said my rotors are warped and I need to replace the rotors and pads. I don't haul, tow or do anything crazy with it.

Now, here's my questions:

1. Can the rotors go bad and the brake pads be fine?
2. Should I go with a ceramic pad or stick with the OEM?

I'm just a female and don't want to be taken advantage of at the dealers. Cost is not an issue when purchasing a good product.
