So I ordered the fog light kit from Shark Racing and received it today. I took of the bumper and installed the lights. I also connected the hot wire to the battery and the ground. However, there's another wire that's supposed to be routed through the firewall and connect to the provided switch. Is there any way to bypass this? I just want the fog lights to come on when the lights are on. Actually, I don't even care if the lights are on, the fog lights can be on all the time. I just don't feel comfortable routing a wire through the firewall and also taking the steering wheel off to put the new switch on.

I have a 2010 passat and I'm going to be installing DDM 35w 6000k slim ballast on both my low beams and my fog lights. The guy at DDM told me I needed Error eliminators, is this true? also besides the HID kits and the Vagcom changes is there anything else I need to do to make these puppies function properly? like use a relay for the fogs?

I am trying to retrofit my Prius to allow a secondary battery to be tested while another battery is actually installed in place. I don't need to do this, but we are so sick of taking batteries in and out of the car for testing purposes. I don't want to reinvent the wheel if it isn't necessary!

I will be "building" and correcting the attached document as I install a WebElectric DRL-2P kit into a 2012 Prius v Five with the Advanced Technology Package. I will add photos and describe the colors of the Prius v wiring harness wires to which I connect the DRL-2P kit as I determine them with a test light.
I am NOT a professional but I have done many automotive projects in my almost 50 years of driving ... engine rebuilds, audio and phone systems, Euro headlights with and without washers, front and rear fog lights, horn mods and on and on.
This looks like an easy project - maybe a "3" on my "1 to 10 difficulty scale" - with the most difficult part being crawling under the car to remove panels and to make the connections with the turn signals ... not fun as I get older. This project should be substantially easier than the install of Scion IQ signal mirror covers on this same car which I documented on this forum and which was perhaps a "6" on my difficulty scale.

Installing one on a LS460L? Can you buy just the bulb and pop it in or is it a big wiring job? I think they are a pretty good safety feature (the way the crazies drive in this City anyway) and I assume it would be an easy DIY install?

The experts who are installing the dash wiring harness on my camry (not exaggeration they really are that good) installed everything perfectly with the exception of the dash not responding. The dash is connected properly but none of the lights nor gauges are reacting. The car turns on and all is good except for this.

Upon installing LED interior lights in the dome lighting in my 2003 Jetta GL 5 Speed, my power door locks, power windows, interior lighting, and license plates lights no longer work. I looked at fuse 14 (the fuse associated with interior lighting) and it was not blown. I also tried replacing the LED lights with the lights I had removed while putting in the LEDs, and everything still does not work. Another thing to note is that during installation, the 3 lights in between the drive and passenger seats in the front worked when LEDs were inserted into them. It was not until I replaced the passenger side rear light with an LED that all of these malfunctions started to occur.

Over the past 2 days I drove without the center of the steering wheel in place because I was in the middle of removing the turn signal arm - I had to wait until I found a T55 torque bit for removing the steering nut. Anyway, the I installed a new turn-signal arm and re-assembled the steering wheel and such. Even after reconnecting the airbag I'm still getting an airbag light on my instrument cluster. Is this a fault code that needs to be reset from the dealer? I know I plugged all the connectors correctly - only one way to do it.

I have a kit of lights from my wrecked mk6 jetta for the rear bottom door lights that I would like to install on my Passat. I looked into the DIY thread for our cars and found nothing. I found some info on the Bold-Sport website but the connector at the window motor is different on the mk6 jetta compared to the Passat. My questions are:
1- Are the pins location the same to make them work on the Passat then it is for the Jetta?
2- Is the coding to activate them the same as the Jetta?
Prius (Gen 2) :: Optima Battery Installation Process
I have the part number for the battery. It is a series D51 Optima # N9951 YEL ( Napa auto parts )$149.00. You need a new positive post bracket with stud attached (standard post size, since the old one is smaller than normal) and a universal ground bracket with the clamp for a wire install. Cut off the ground clamp ( old one) and install the wire to new one. Look at the positive post ( old one ) and get a new one with the same configuration with the post bolt. Unbolt the positive unit from the old bracket and install new one. The Optima is the same size as the old one so everything goes back under the cover. It is a non vented battery so you do not need the hose hooked up to it.
If you are not good with electrical connections get the terminal kit . Then it is just a matter of unbolting the battery and replacing the cables , connectors and your done.

I am working on my folks 2003 gen 1 prius. Dealer told them inverter was bad so I bought a used one to replace it from junk yard. I was able to drive the car on purely gas mode prior to replacing inverter. I have now replaced the inverter and innitially was able to drive it on battery power, but no gas engine, it wont start. Now no movement at all. I have reset codes both with my obd2 scanner and by the touch screen diagnostic window. Am I missing something here as I can't get the warning orange triangle to go away or check engine light, and now gas engine. When I turn key, I hear clicking sound in rear of car. Also, I left doors open when working on car and drained little battery, I replaced it with a larger battery that I have put in a battery box.

Installed aftermarket radio with no problems in 2006 Jetta. Ironically, now the trunk open light is lit on dashboard even though the trunk is definitely shut and the horn wont beep when locking with the keyfob although the doors do lock. I researched here and found some had to push their radio (oem radio) in a little bit to make contact with "microswitch?" and then horn worked..
Im not sure if its that car thinks trunk is open when it isn't or that it thinks the radio is stolen (when it clearly isnt, just an aftermarket) one and thus won't actually arm the alarm..........however, doors are locked, and red light blinks in the door as well as the exterior visual confirmation of alarm being on.
