Prius (2004-09) :: Oil Droplets On Backside Of Engine Block?

I noticed these oil droplets hanging on the staircase like structure on the backside of the engine block:

Are they normal? Where do they come from? I vaguely remember someone has also seen these.

Date was 20101030 and mileage ~ 15000

Passat (B5) :: 2004 V6 - Burning Oil Smell From Backside Of Engine On Passenger Side

I have an 04 2.8 v6 5spd. I have recently began smelling oil burning as in leaking on exhaust or something. There is no visible oil under the car, on the engine and no oil at all on ground even with car parked for days. It seems to be from the backside of the engine on passenger side. I am thinking a leaky valve cover gasket. I know a drop of oil will burn and smell strongly. I still want to fix it though. Should I just get a valve cover gasket kit and replace them. Its very hard to see back there.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Engine With Leak Behind The Oil Filter

This is a 2003 F150 4.6 liter Romeo engine with leak behind the oil filter. I can't tell if the leak is from the oil pressure sensor or the adapter behind it. I think it is from the adapter where it mates with the engine. My question is how the heck do I get it out to put in a seal? I can see one bolt but can't image it being held by one bolt.

My mechanic wants to check the intake gasket and another intake which he spoke of and I can't remember at the moment however with no guarantees these or one of the two could be the problem. He expects it to be a 5 hour job. The sound seems to be generated from the lower backside of the engine...

Prius (2004-09) :: Thin Coat Of Oil At Bottom Of Filter / No Leak Found

Maybe I am running out of my beginner's luck. Recently when I did the second oil change at 10K miles, I placed the drain pan without taking into account the fact that the oil drains partially sideways. The oil stream ended up splashing off the edge of the drain pan and made a mess. Then I did not withdraw my hand fast enough when unscrewing the oil filter and allowed a stream of oil running down my arm and staining my new shirt. The I filled the new oil filter too full and had one more spill when installing it.

About two weeks later I found there was a very thin coat of oil at the bottom of the oil filter but no drips either on the filter or on the ground. I checked the oil level and it was the same as before. I checked the filter tightness with a torque wrench and it was also as tight as before. I wiped the bottom of the filter clean with paper towel. Now about another two weeks passed and a corner of the bottom of the filter is coated with oil again.

I am thinking maybe it was just the spilled oil gradually making its way from the (outside) top of the filter to the bottom? If there is a leak then I should get at least some drips, not just a thin film every two weeks, right? I also thought about untightening the filter and then tighten it again but I was afraid of large amount of oil coming out, would it? Also I had carefully checked the o-ring and wiped the flange clean before installing the filter and there are so many threads to screw the filter on - it is hard to imaging the filter would not seat correctly.

Prius (Gen 3) :: Oil Filter Tool Getting Stuck To Oil Filter Cap

Did my own 30k oil filter change today after taking it to the dealership for 10k and 20k. What do you know, they over torqued the crap out of the filter that I had to use my 1/2" breaker bar and all my strength to remove it. After all of that somehow the oil filter tool (the typical one) ended up getting stuck to the oil filter cap. It was at a slight angle so it must have shifted as I was trying to loosen it with the breaker bar.

Well, spent the next hour trying to separate them with no luck. Didn't want to damage the filter housing, and since the tool was stuck on there good just decided to put it back on with the tool attached. Any concerns about leaving it on, other than it randomly falling off one day?

Hopefully I'll still find the tool attached next time I change my oil, maybe pick up an extra oil filter cap and tool just in case. Btw I changed it myself at 5k before doing the free changes at dealership. Another reason I won't let them touch my car again...

Touareg :: Recurring Leak At Oil Filter

This is the second time that I have notice the car leaking just below the oil filter. The leak does not occur immediately after the oil change, rather after several thousand miles. This is the second time in a row this has occurred. Can the filter loosen to allow small leak? Could the mount be warped? Did not think anything of this first time it happened but strange after the second. It is not a lot of oil, just a drop or two overnight.

Prius (2001-03) :: Warning Lights Goes Off - Engine Cabin Filter And Fuel Injection Cleaning?

Went to dealership today for oil change, they said they didn't see any leaks, didn't see anything wrong, etc. The warning lights haven't went back on since yesterday morning. I'll keep watching, I hope they don't activate again.

By the way, for everyone who had a 2003 Prius, how many miles did you get with your main battery? The dealership said they usually go after 100,000 miles and need to replace.

At 130,000 they also recommend an engine cabin filter and fuel injection cleaning. Seems like an automotive store would be cheaper for the cabin filter?

Camry 2012+ :: Noise Next To Air Filter Box - Vacuum Leak

Today I was checking up on the engine and noticed a weird "sucking" noise coming next to the air filter box.

I've researched a bit and it seems like I might have a vacuum leak? I have attached a video on the noise, I recorded on the phone so you might need to turn up the volume a bit higher to hear the noise (vertical recording, the noise starts at about 38 secs)...

I just biticed a few oil spots in ground on passenger side and checked my oil level. When I pulled out the dipstick the re was dirt on it or something. its never been like that before. What could cause that? Seems like it happened after the last oil change. Also could the leak be from the oil filter? Heres a pic of the rag after I wiped the stick.

Phaeton :: Possible Coolant Leak Close To The Oil Filter Reservoir

I was checking the engine today and I think I found a coolant leak close to the Oil Filter reservoir, the fluid is PINK color and that matches the coolant type of fluid, check the pictures. Looking for the location from where the leak might be coming ? Do the Thermostat or Water Pump are closer to that location ?, I have the theory that they might be the cause of the coolant leak, they were changed about 4,000 miles ago,

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 2006 - Oil Leak Around Filter Bracket?

I have a 2006 vw jetta with about 145k miles on it. When I had taken it for oil change, I was told that there is an oil leak around the oil filter bracket and was given a quote of about 1100. Here is my confusion about. There are no oil spots under the car where I park it, never seen a drop of oil under the car. So where actually is this leak happening? How serious is it? The car doesn't burn a lot of oil either, the oil level doesn't go down drastically and don't have to add oil till oil changes.

Camry :: 2004 Toyota Solara - Brown Liquid Under The Backside Of Passenger Side?

I have an '04 Toyota Solara. I was cleaning my car yesterday and started scrubbing the middle console with a wet rag which has a carpeted bottom, I noticed light brown stuff kept coming up and thought I had spilled something in there. Fast forward to today, I had my carpets shampooed and they didn't dry them well, so I started wiping things down with a towel, when I wiped under the backside of my passenger seat, more brown liquid appeared, this time a lot and more concentrated. It is dark brown in color. I'm kind of freaking out, as everything online points to a leaking heater core. Which would mean I've been breathing in coolant.
