Prius (Gen 3) :: Oil Leak On Backside Of Engine Right Above Filter
I was changing the ATF fluid for the first time and noticed a film of oil on the backside of the engine right above the oil filter. It appears to be from a sensor, but, not sure what it is.
View 19 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2004 V6 - Burning Oil Smell From Backside Of Engine On Passenger Side
I have an 04 2.8 v6 5spd. I have recently began smelling oil burning as in leaking on exhaust or something. There is no visible oil under the car, on the engine and no oil at all on ground even with car parked for days. It seems to be from the backside of the engine on passenger side. I am thinking a leaky valve cover gasket. I know a drop of oil will burn and smell strongly. I still want to fix it though. Should I just get a valve cover gasket kit and replace them. Its very hard to see back there.

2003 Jeep Wrangler LOUD squeal when coming off the accelerator. I've had changed the Tension Pulley, The Belt, Checked the Power Steering, Removed the belt from the AC unit..smaller belt now....Tested the Alternator, it's working like a champ. I have a 4.0L 6 Cylinder. My mechanic wants to check the intake gasket and another intake which he spoke of and I can't remember at the moment however with no guarantees these or one of the two could be the problem. He expects it to be a 5 hour job. The sound seems to be generated from the lower backside of the engine...
View 2 RepliesCamry :: 2004 Toyota Solara - Brown Liquid Under The Backside Of Passenger Side?
I have an '04 Toyota Solara. I was cleaning my car yesterday and started scrubbing the middle console with a wet rag which has a carpeted bottom, I noticed light brown stuff kept coming up and thought I had spilled something in there. Fast forward to today, I had my carpets shampooed and they didn't dry them well, so I started wiping things down with a towel, when I wiped under the backside of my passenger seat, more brown liquid appeared, this time a lot and more concentrated. It is dark brown in color. I'm kind of freaking out, as everything online points to a leaking heater core. Which would mean I've been breathing in coolant.
View 6 RepliesAccent LC (2000-05) :: 2004 - Squealing From Engine Block
I have about 83k miles on my Accent. It was undriven for about three months due to a blocked situation with the local Department of Transportation. I've changed the oil and he seems to be driving fine, but right after starting the car, there's a squealing that comes from the engine block as I apply pressure to the accelerator. The sound goes away after a minute of acceleration, upon breaking, or after driving for a while. Also, when shifting from reverse to drive, the steering feels a little stiff. Is this a loose belt problem? Do I need to replace said belt? Or is there a more extensive problem with the power steering pump?

I recently purchased a 2004 Jeep wrangler Sahara. In retrospect, I probably should have inspected it more closely. The underside, including the sides of the engine block (below the heads, etc.) have a lot of rust. With little effort I can flake off pieces as thick as a quarter for example. How concerned I should be and what I need to do???

We have a 2004 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Van 5 Cylinder Mercedes Turbo Diesel. Recently, at around 70,000 miles, when we start the engine block heater, the sounds are not normal. The heater appears to start working, since we can hear and smell the burner, but the heating ceases within a few minutes. The unusual sounds continue until the heater is turned off.
View 3 RepliesPrius V :: 2013 Can't Find Engine Block Cock For Coolant Drain
I recently bought a 2013 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) . The car has been in a front end accident but it has been fixed. When buying the car, i did not notice that the coolant in it was green.
I know that prii of this year run on Toyota pink, and I have also read that mixing coolant can lead to sludging and clog your system. So now I am trying to do a total flush and refill. I already have the pink coolant and I was able to drain about 5 qt (7.3 qt total capacity) from the radiator cock. I know about the existence of an engine block cock which would allow me to drain the rest of the coolant. But no matter how much I look I can not locate it.
I have read the repair manual, I know that is is supposed to be in the back of the engine half way up the block or so. But I just cant find it. I can't fill my car until I can do a proper flush.
Prius C :: Moonroof Leaking / Entire Back Edge Had Water Droplets After Car Wash
So I took my car through a car wash the other day and noticed the moonroof was leaking. It was a relatively short lived car wash too. I've had two other cars with moonroofs, a 1988 and 2001 Volvo, and neither of them leaked a drop ever - even in this same car wash. I could even understand a few drips, but the entire back edge had water droplets.

I was warming up my wife's 07 Expy the other day. Yes, I know this is the F150 forum but it's essentially the same drive train and there are more users in this forum. So anyway, it was a cold day so I started the truck to let it warm up for 10 minutes. When we went to leave I could smell anti freeze in the truck. The truck wasn't over heating, there were no puddles underneath it. I opened the hood and there was no obvious leak anywhere. The only thing I noticed was a spritz of droplets all over the intake cover and other black surfaces were it stood out. It was as if the engine had sneezed out some anti freeze, but no visible sign of where it might have come from. It's running fine and hasn't done it again since.

After returning from vacation, I found that one door of my 2007 Prius was left open while we were gone. I tried jumping the car. Long story short, I accidentally reversed the polarity and fried the main fuse block. I just replaced the fuse this last weekend and it's been running fine.
Until today
I drove to work and everything was fine. Then at lunch I got in the card and started it up. The red triangle came on with the exclamation point. Also the VSC light and the orange exclamation point in the Circle with the ( ) around it.

So, I've had the car for a grand total of six days. Was just showing off what's under the hood to a coworker when I noticed droplets of pink and the coolant tank is almost at minimum. View 3 RepliesTouareg :: The Engine Block Cracked Suddenly
So my father's 4.2L 2005 T-reg V8 was losing coolant like crazy. All of the sudden all the temp gauges went nuts. We had it towed. VW filled it back up. MY dad refused to drive home in it and had the service manager take it home for the night. It had to be towed back to the dealership.
Long-story-short, the engine block was cracked. My dad has never off-roaded the vehicle, much less even driven it hard. VW didn't know what to do either. LUCK, he has ~59,000 miles on it, so he's just under the 60k drivetrain warranty. VW first waffled, then agreed to fix it under warranty. Then they told my dad that it would be 4 - 8 weeks to fix it. THen they refused him a loaner car.
