Prius V Fuel :: 2008 Gen II Versus 2014 Consumption Display
I kept a record of every drop of fuel used in my 2008 Gen II Prius. It was easy with only two simple screens: Energy and Consumption. After writing down the numbers I reset the Consumption screen at every fill up. I entered these into a spreadsheet that did a bunch of calculations telling me all kinds of interesting things.
Now to my new 2014 Prius v Two. I'm confused regarding all the new information available. (A good thing) Which screen and number am I looking for that is equivalent to the Miles and cumulative MPG on the old Gen II?
Would like to sort this out before my first fill on the new car.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Steady Energy Consumption Screen Showing Up
Recently we've been seeing a steady Energy Consumption screen showing up on our monitor, even when we change the screen to another screen. It fluctuates between green, yellow, and red arrows pointing from the engine and around the screen. The red lines do not show up other than during acceleration. There is no other notice of any possible problem on the dashboard readout.
View 10 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) Fuel :: 2005 - Fuel Consumption Increase After Service And New Brakes
So, my 2005 Gen II Prius went for a scheduled service on Wednesday, 70k miles, Toyota main dealer. They called and said it needed new front brake pads and disks, I was surprised but gave the go ahead. There would occasionally have been a mild squealing sound from the brakes at very low speed so I accepted the pads might need replacing, I was surprised the disks needed replacing but it hard to argue about brakes, especially as I only have the car a year (I'm the second owner and it has a full Toyota service history). It had a "major" service, new spark plugs, new front brake pads and disks.
Since collecting it I've noticed that the engine seems to kick in more often and needs higher revs. The fuel consumption seems higher, normally mid 50's MPG (imperial gallon) now 35MPG. However it hasn't been driven many miles since its been serviced so its a low distance for calculating MPG. I've also noticed that the car seems to slow more quickly without applying the brakes, a regularly driven hill that I coast down at 48kph now only gives 35kph. Also, if I drive on a flat road for a mile or 2 and coast to a stop the front brake disks feel VERY hot, way too hot to touch, drivers side more so that passenger side.
Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: High Fuel Consumption While Coasting With Charge Available?
When I go out to do errands around town (I live right in town) I get horrendous gas mileage. Now, I understand gas mileage is high at the beginning of a trip, but for this long and this high and under these circumstances? I'm getting ABOVE 10l/100km when I have 80% charge available (for americans, that's disgustingly high MPG like, pick-up truck high), AND my foot is completely off the gas. Literally, coasting, or braking, and I'm still sucking up gas. What the heck?
Is this just because it takes a certain amount of time for the engine to run no matter what or something? I still don't see any reason for me to be eating up all that gas when my foot isn't even on the gas AND most importantly, I have charge available. Feels pointless for me to use my car for what I use it for 70% of the time, which is for quick errands around town at low speeds. Thought the prius was suppose to be a superstar for this kind of thing.
Prius (Gen 3) Fuel :: Hourly Fuel Consumption At Idle?
What is the hourly fuel consumption for a Toyota Prius at idle? Purpose is keep cabin warm for 8 hours. Would this damage engine?
View 10 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Instantaneous Fuel Economy Bar Graph Maxed At Idle
Just a quick question on my new 6.7l instantaneous fuel economy display (green bar). At idle, the bar is pegged at 40l/100km. When the vehicle is moving, the bar graph drops down to its proper 14ishL/100km mark.
At idle, the vehicle display should be under the 14L mark, because the engine is using little fuel. When the display is pegged, it also causes the number display on the graph (the instantaneous 14L/100 number) to creep up as well. In the span of 3 or 4 minutes at idle, the instantaneous average (calculated number) will creep from approx 14.5l/100 to 19l/100. So its pretty obvious the computer is using the 40l/100 number in its average.
Id almost swear that the display was working correct when the truck was new (2 wks ago), I've done nothing to change it, but for whatever reason its working backwards to what it should be doing (all my other vehicles' instantaneous display drop to almost 0 when at idle).
Its not the end of the world, and I can wait till its at the dealer next time to figure it out, but it is a bit of an annoyance. I am not in the middle of a regen or something like that either, AFAIK. Actual mileage on a tank of fuel isnt reflecting that 40L/100 figure on the display.
Prius (Gen 3) :: Fuel Consumption Is Not Satisfactory
I changed the throttle body , PCV , clean the EGR tube and put new gasket in my Prius B 2010 hybrid.
The car was burn oil 1/2 liter per 1500km and since I changed the throttle body I noticed that the car burn 1/2 liter per 400 km .The job by the dealer.
Is there any problem in the installation?
Prius C :: How To Turn Fuel Consumption Comparison Off
How do I turn the "fuel consumption comparison" off? I want to see only the quantity and price off the gasoline I have consumed.
There isn't a "disable" feature, so I am guessing I set it to 0 mpg?
Prius (Gen 3) Fuel :: Consumption With Speed Increase / Decrease
Since I got Prius I've noticed that driving at 50mph returns 80+mpg , 90+mpg if I let it gently glide at -1mph per 1 mile. As it gradually slows down, the mileage starts to decrease. By the time I get down to 45 mph the mileage shows around 70mpg,
I get down to 40mph, I'm only getting 50mpg. When I keep my speed between 40 and 45 I get about 52-55 mpg for the day. If I keep my speed between 45 and 50, I get 55-60mpg for the day.
Prius (2010-12) :: When Braking Engine Would Sound And MPG Indicates Fuel Consumption
Yesterday we were on a 10 hour trip and the engine was acting oddly; when braking, the engine sounded just like the engine brake, but the MPG indicated that it was consuming fuel (engine brake does not consume fuel). When braking, the engine would sound, and the MPG indicator indicates fuel consumption, it would go down to 50, with the heavier braking, like when stopping... then at a certain point it would suddenly stop
It seemed to happen most times but not always. This issue didn't happen before.
Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Fuel Consumption During Typical Warm-Up?
how much fuel is consumed during a typical warm-up period for the Gen III? I realize there are variables related to ambient temperature etc..
my interest is to get a baseline consumption figure to compare warm-up saving devices/techniques against.
Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: Display Consumption Bars Too High?
Just bought a 2012 Prius Three last Friday. The MFD (upper display) shows an average of about 53 mpg so far, and the corresponding 1 & 5 min bars seem to make sense (we have an 07 TCH so we're reasonably familiar).
But the Display Audio unit (6.1 inch) Car>Consumption graph seems to show 100mpg most of the time/most bars. That can't be right and it looks nothing like the MFD display. What am I missing?
Gen 2 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: MFC Malfunction / 30 Minutes Fuel Consumption Not Displaying
The 30 minute fuel consumption yellow bar graph doesn't display on my 2006 Prius. It shows my current mpg but not the previous 5 minutes sections. It also doesn't show the green battery regeneration icons. Everything else seems to be working fine.
View 3 RepliesPrius (2010-12) Fuel :: Consumption Display Misleading / Getting 480 Miles Before Running On Empty?
Just bought a used 2010 prius II about 2 weeks ago with 10000 miles on it. As I've been driving I feel the consumption display is misleading. It averages around 52-53 mpg, but I'm only getting about 480 miles before I'm running on empty. The tank capacity is 12 gallons right? If so I should be getting at least low-mid 500's before I need to fill up again. Hopefully I'm calculating something wrong and its not the car itself.
View 16 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: Car Won't Power Down - Bar Graph Shows Half Of Actual
I have strange electrical problems my 2006 Prius has recently developed.
It started off this past weekend when I went to shut off the vehicle after about a 5 mile drive. The car wouldn't power down, though, regardless of how many times I pressed the Power button. I then noticed that the wheels on the MFD were still turning, despite the car being stopped and in park. I shifted to drive, drove a few feet, shifted to reverse, drove a few feet, then back to park. Same problem. (Note that I was able to shift gears without any problems despite the wheels on the MFD continuing to turn.) I finally ended up leaving the car powered on for about 20 minutes, and when I returned the wheels on the MFD had stopped turning and I was able to successfully shut the car down.
I drove it several times with no problems, but then experienced the same problem again yesterday. Also, I noticed that the bar graph of mpg seems to be showing about half of what the car is actually getting. I was on a long trip, and the car seemed to be getting about its usual 50mpg, but the bar graph consistently showed ~25mpg. The "instant" bar on the far right of the graph was correct, as was the overall average displayed on the other page, but the graph itself was clearly wrong.
Prius (2004-09) :: Gas Gauge Was At 1/2 Now Showing Full But Did Not Add Fuel
I left the house and parked on a hill parking lot, drivers side lower than the passenger. When I left, I was driving around and noticed the gas gauge, which had been at half full, was now showing full. I thought if I shut off the car, that might reset everything. It didn't. Anything I can do to fix this? Top the tank and see if that won't fix it? Or take it in? It sounds like a stuck sensor.
View 2 RepliesPrius C :: Fuel Gauge Not Showing Correct Reading?
Driving on my original tank from dealer today from Upstate NY to NYC. On the way my C had 4 bars to begin then went to 3, then 2 after about 90 miles of traveling at avg of about 55mph. I watched the cruising distance go down to 1 but I still had 2 bars on my fuel gauge (and my crusing distance was conservative compared to my mpg reading the whole trip, which was hovering around 58mpg).
The gauge went from 2 bars to one flashing bar in about 1 minute. I pulled into a gas station about 2 miles ahead and put in about 5 gallons... this put the fuel gauge up to 3/4s or about 3 bars above the halfway mark. What gives? I know there are fuel gauge issues but I thought with two bars I would have had plenty of time before I needed to fill up on these roads with these mpgs.
Prius (Gen 2) :: 2006 Just Randomly Won't Start - Showing E For Fuel When It Is Full
I got in my car this morning and I pushed the start button. All of the lights came on on the intrument cluster and multi-information display. It also started beeping. I also noticed it showing that I was on E for fuel when it is full. My car is in my garage. Is there anything I can do to reset it or something so that I can get it started. Ugh
