Prius (Gen 2) Fuel :: 2005 - Fuel Consumption Increase After Service And New Brakes

So, my 2005 Gen II Prius went for a scheduled service on Wednesday, 70k miles, Toyota main dealer. They called and said it needed new front brake pads and disks, I was surprised but gave the go ahead. There would occasionally have been a mild squealing sound from the brakes at very low speed so I accepted the pads might need replacing, I was surprised the disks needed replacing but it hard to argue about brakes, especially as I only have the car a year (I'm the second owner and it has a full Toyota service history). It had a "major" service, new spark plugs, new front brake pads and disks.

Since collecting it I've noticed that the engine seems to kick in more often and needs higher revs. The fuel consumption seems higher, normally mid 50's MPG (imperial gallon) now 35MPG. However it hasn't been driven many miles since its been serviced so its a low distance for calculating MPG. I've also noticed that the car seems to slow more quickly without applying the brakes, a regularly driven hill that I coast down at 48kph now only gives 35kph. Also, if I drive on a flat road for a mile or 2 and coast to a stop the front brake disks feel VERY hot, way too hot to touch, drivers side more so that passenger side.

Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: High Fuel Consumption While Coasting With Charge Available?

When I go out to do errands around town (I live right in town) I get horrendous gas mileage. Now, I understand gas mileage is high at the beginning of a trip, but for this long and this high and under these circumstances? I'm getting ABOVE 10l/100km when I have 80% charge available (for americans, that's disgustingly high MPG like, pick-up truck high), AND my foot is completely off the gas. Literally, coasting, or braking, and I'm still sucking up gas. What the heck?

Is this just because it takes a certain amount of time for the engine to run no matter what or something? I still don't see any reason for me to be eating up all that gas when my foot isn't even on the gas AND most importantly, I have charge available. Feels pointless for me to use my car for what I use it for 70% of the time, which is for quick errands around town at low speeds. Thought the prius was suppose to be a superstar for this kind of thing.

Camry 2012+ :: Toyota LE - Significant Amount Of Fuel Consumption When Turn On Blower Fan

I have a 2012 Toyota Camry LE and whenever I turn on the blower fan, the fuel consumption increase by about 0.13 to 0.26 US gallon/hour. This is regardless of the thermostat settings, air outlet selector settings or not in the dehumidifying settings and the A/C button is at off position. There is also an increase of about 150 rpm. The only time this condition will not occur is that when the engine temperature is at 176 F which is the engine is in optimum performance. If the engine temperature is below below 170 F it will always happen. During winter most of the time the car could not reach that temperature before I reach my destination because I live in the region where cold weather is at extreme.

Prius (Gen 3) :: Fuel Consumption Is Not Satisfactory

I changed the throttle body , PCV , clean the EGR tube and put new gasket in my Prius B 2010 hybrid.

The car was burn oil 1/2 liter per 1500km and since I changed the throttle body I noticed that the car burn 1/2 liter per 400 km .The job by the dealer.

Is there any problem in the installation?

Prius (Gen 3) Fuel :: Consumption With Speed Increase / Decrease

Since I got Prius I've noticed that driving at 50mph returns 80+mpg , 90+mpg if I let it gently glide at -1mph per 1 mile. As it gradually slows down, the mileage starts to decrease. By the time I get down to 45 mph the mileage shows around 70mpg,

I get down to 40mph, I'm only getting 50mpg. When I keep my speed between 40 and 45 I get about 52-55 mpg for the day. If I keep my speed between 45 and 50, I get 55-60mpg for the day.

Prius V Fuel :: 2008 Gen II Versus 2014 Consumption Display

I kept a record of every drop of fuel used in my 2008 Gen II Prius. It was easy with only two simple screens: Energy and Consumption. After writing down the numbers I reset the Consumption screen at every fill up. I entered these into a spreadsheet that did a bunch of calculations telling me all kinds of interesting things.

Now to my new 2014 Prius v Two. I'm confused regarding all the new information available. (A good thing) Which screen and number am I looking for that is equivalent to the Miles and cumulative MPG on the old Gen II?

Would like to sort this out before my first fill on the new car.

Prius (2010-12) :: When Braking Engine Would Sound And MPG Indicates Fuel Consumption

Yesterday we were on a 10 hour trip and the engine was acting oddly; when braking, the engine sounded just like the engine brake, but the MPG indicated that it was consuming fuel (engine brake does not consume fuel). When braking, the engine would sound, and the MPG indicator indicates fuel consumption, it would go down to 50, with the heavier braking, like when stopping... then at a certain point it would suddenly stop

It seemed to happen most times but not always. This issue didn't happen before.

Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: Display Consumption Bars Too High?

Just bought a 2012 Prius Three last Friday. The MFD (upper display) shows an average of about 53 mpg so far, and the corresponding 1 & 5 min bars seem to make sense (we have an 07 TCH so we're reasonably familiar).

But the Display Audio unit (6.1 inch) Car>Consumption graph seems to show 100mpg most of the time/most bars. That can't be right and it looks nothing like the MFD display. What am I missing?

Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: Consumption Display Misleading / Getting 480 Miles Before Running On Empty?

Just bought a used 2010 prius II about 2 weeks ago with 10000 miles on it. As I've been driving I feel the consumption display is misleading. It averages around 52-53 mpg, but I'm only getting about 480 miles before I'm running on empty. The tank capacity is 12 gallons right? If so I should be getting at least low-mid 500's before I need to fill up again. Hopefully I'm calculating something wrong and its not the car itself.

The average error is -2.7 mpg and the STD is 0.85 mpg. So the error is fairly consistent. I also have shown the gallons purchased, but there is no correlation to mpg error.

Tiguan :: Possible To Have MFD To Show Fuel Consumption?

We have two counters on MFD (1-trip data and 2-accumulated data), none of them show the gas consumption.

Every time I stop at gas station I have to divide distance by average gas consumption to know, beforehand, how many liters to top up the tank.

Question is: Is it possible to use VCDS to make the MFD show that information once it is obviously known by the board computer?

Passat (B5) :: Fuel Consumption Is Not Satisfactory

I just don't get what causes the Passat 1.8T to have worse fuel economy than expected considering its 0.27 drag coefficient, 3200lbs curb weight, and 4 cylinder 1.8t engine compared to a 3,500lbs 3.4 liter V6 0.31 cod Impala. I mean a new Ford Escape NON Hybrid SUV will get the fuel economy on the highway as a 1.8T Passat and that's sad considering that the Escape has the drag coefficient of a brick and the B5.5 Passats are among the 10 most aerodynamic cars ever sold in North America.
