Toyota - Rav4 :: 1997 - Horn Starts Blowing Constantly
On the way home yesterday I was caught in a deluge. I ended up having to go through one spot where the water was pooled, but not really that deep. Anyways, 45 minutes later I arrive home, park the car, and 15 minutes later the car horn starts blowing constantly. This went on for several minutes, stopped and started a few times, then eventually stopped. Nothing I tried would make it stop, it just eventually stopped on its own. So as not to wake the neighbors last night I pulled the fuse to the horn. With the fuse back in, the horn still works, what caused the problem?
View 5 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Horn Just Starts Blowing By Itself
I have 2002 F250SD, The horn just starts blowing by itself. Bump the horn switch and it stops for a couple of weeks. I've looked at the wires to the fuse box and no wires shorting out the horn wire. I read some very old posts but nothing conclusive was ever decided on, just a lot of guessing. The horn switch has always been sensitive.
Somebody said the air bag is warming up in the sun and expanding causing the horn to blow. Somebody said the horn relay, but in 55 years of working on trucks, I have never had a horn relay act like that. I'm told the horn relay is built in the back of the fuse box and it all has to be replaced. Some say the clock switch. I don't know what that is or where it is. I guess inside the steering wheel. Is it hard to replace?
Where do I go from here....
Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - New Battery Installed Now Car Will Not Start
My mechanic installed a new Hybrid battery in my 2005 Pruis using the repair manual and a video that showed him how to do it. He also replaced the harness and the ECU battery. When he tries to start the car all of the lights light up on the dash but no ready light on the start button and the car will not start. The instructions did not say anything about this issue so he is lost! He thinks the smart key and the ECU have to be synced in some way but doesn't know how to do it.

I purchased a new 12 volt battery from Toyota and installed in my 2009 Prius. My car wouldn't start. So, next I tried to jumpstart it. I pressed the Power button (the light was GREEN) but it wouldn't start. I pressed the Power button again (The light was AMBER) and the hybrid drive engaged and the CHECK ENGINE light came on; however, the engine didn't start, the dashboard didn't light up and the READY indicator did not appear.
Next, I grabbed the Owner's Manual and went through the Troubleshooting sequence. Engine still wouldn't start.
Prius (2004-09) :: New 12v Battery Installed, Vent Tube Elbow Missing
I decided to install a new Optima yellow top battery because I performed the battery check and found the voltage low and therefore believed my 2008 was still running on the original OEM 12v battery. Much to my surprise I found a non-OEM battery installed and the vent tube elbow missing!
View 10 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: After New Compressor Installed, AC Is Blowing Hot Air
My Prius kept draining freon and they couldn't find a leak. Finally, a few mechanics later, they said my compressor was bad and replaced it. It was 1200+ for the repair, but it has a 12 month warranty. A/C was already getting less cold only a couple months later, but when I took it in, they said it's fine. Well, now it's been 10 months since the repair and it's blowing hot air. It progressively got worse and worse and I've been dreading taking it back but finally am. It's a 2005 with 125,000 miles.

Ok, I know I have a vaccum leak. I have manual hubs now and those lines are capped. The AC is blowing through the deforst and the pump is running non stop. I have replaced the vac pump a couple of years ago and it worked fine then. any other places to look?
View 1 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Battery Starts Dropping Sharply When Headlights Are On
I am having an issue with my 2006 Toyota Prius. The battery seems to be fine, but when I turn on the headlights the battery suddenly starts dropping sharply and the lights quickly dim. I turn them back off and it starts charging properly again. It only does it when I turn on the headlights. Weird part is if I hit a bump just right sometimes it goes back to normal for a while, but then starts discharging again.
View 7 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Horn Stuck / Would Not Stop Blowing
My daughter's 2004 F150 has a horn problem. She used it the other day and it would not stop blowing. Someone unplugged it for her. When I checked it out and re-plugged it in it still continues to blow. Question is where do I begin. Does this have a horn relay? Do I have to remove the air bag to access the connections under the pad? I own a 1985 F150 and mine is much simpler.
View 9 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Horn Blows And Lights Starts Flashing
I have a 2007 F150 Lariat with a 5.4 L engine. Bought it 6 weeks ago from the original owner. Has 50,000 miles on it. He had a Ford command start installed when it was new, and received a new key FOB at that time. When I drive the vehicle, sometimes the horn will start blowing and the lights start flashing which to me, indicates the trucks security alarm is activated. The only way to make it stop, is to hit the unlock button on the key FOB. It also does it sometimes when it's not running and I open a door. Previous owner had same problem so he disconnected the horn!!?!

I replaced the battery because I was getting the red triangle with no screen powerup. This is a slight improvement but I'm stuck as to what the "Problem" indicator on the MFD is about.
I've checked the battery in maintenance mode, reading 12.6V.

View 2 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: 2005 Hybrid Battery Installed, Engine Code 2102 / Bars Dropped
I just bought 05 prius from a dealer I don't know the history was told all it needed was a hybrid battery.
Now I have a 05 that I drive with known good parts so I pulled my hybrid battery and installed it in the new car the monitor showed engine charging inverter then going to the battery. However the bars on the battery graph start dropping. only code is a engine code 2102.
I also noticed the old A/C condenser in the back.

What does it mean when the ac button blinks nonstop? I replaced the ac air filter behind the glove box which was filthy but ac still doesn't blow cold air.
View 1 RepliesPrius (2010-12) Fuel :: Gas Mileage Went Way Down / AC On Nonstop With Higher Temps
I knew when I bought my car it wouldn't get optimum mpg as no car would with the many short trips I have to make every day but I have 5000 miles on it already and have averaged approx 46 with all the city and highway combined.
I took it into Toyota last week for the tire rotation and ever since it has been horrible. There were 120 miles on the tank and I refilled because I couldn't stand to see it staying around 39 on the computer. I have never seen that before. I checked the tired and they had brought them down to 32psi so I put then back to 40/38 and refilled.
Not noticing much of an improvement, sadly. Hovering at 40 mpg still. Weather has changed a lot. Temps much higher daily mid 80s to low 90s. This is my first summer with the car and yea the ac has been on nonstop with the higher temps.
Prius (2004-09) :: VSC Light Comes On After New Clockspring Installed
Just installed a new clockspring on a 2009 Prius base model because half the buttons on the steering wheel weren't working and the airbag warning light was lit up all the time. I took a guess on the airbag light being caused by the clockspring since the buttons were dead on the steering wheel and the cruise control was usually dead also. The good news...airbag warning light is off and the buttons and cruise control are all back! Bad news is...now the vsc light comes on after going less than a mile down the road.
View 5 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Cannot Get The Car To Start After New Bumper Installed
My car had a new bumper installed, and now they can't get it to start. When you hit the button to start, the red "immobilizer" anti-theft light blinks for a moment like the key is not in the car.
This is true even if the key is inserted into the dash. The remote key still can open and close/lock the doors just fine, so this is strange.
They did mention that they had to recharge the battery for some reason. I don't know why the battery had died for them, but it is charged now. (Headlights, etc work fine).
Touareg :: 2004 - AC Blowing Hot Air / Battery Light Came On
Last Friday, as I was on the way to a very important appointment (closing on my house that on the market for 7 MONTHS!), my Treg decides to stop running at the stoplight. I turned the vehicle off and on and nothing. The aircon is blowing hot air and the car would not start. After 4 attempts the car starts up. The battery light comes on.
In front of my house the Treg stalls again and this time the power steering goes out. I start it up again and make it home. I call VW Roadside and they were very useful and got a flatbed out to my place within 1 hour.
They tow it to Advantage VW and they run all sorts of diagnostics on the vehicle and test drive the vehicle 3 times. Nothing shows up. The service manager (Scott - awesome service) states that there is nothing wrong with the Treg and tells me to pick it up.
I show up and I start up the car and blast the AC (it's Texas and it's HOT). I wait for the AC to kick in and nothing....I return the car to service and I get a phone call 2 days later stating that they talked to VW Tech and now they are in the process of replacing the compressor, evap, expansion valve - pretty much the entire AC system.
