Prius (2004-09) :: Red Exclamation And D Symbol On Display Information System
Little background, I have a 2005 Prius that i've had since 55K that now has 114K on it. I have never had to replace the battery so it could possibly be that but this morning I received the red exclamation and this weird D symbol.

Going down a steep hill tonight. Been running for 30 mins - all 100% fine. Was in 2nd gear - had selected it for engine braking. Suddenly got Engine Fault Workshop message - ABS warning light and flashing glow plug symbol.
Continued to drive fine. Definitely not limping! Came home and scanned it. First scan had ABS intermittent fault. Cleared all faults. Engine Fault warning in MFD has now go. Still drives fine only with annoying flashing light!

Phaeton :: Solid Engine Symbol Showed Up Inside Tachometer
Today the solid engine symbol showed up inside my tachometer (no workshop message in the instrument panel display). The owners manual says this is an exhaust system problem. What do you make of the following scan:

Phaeton :: W12 Does Not Fire On All Cylinders / Eventually Exhaust Symbol Lights Up
I've had problems with my w12 2003 in that it doesn't fire on all cylinders. Eventually the "exhaust"-symbol lights up and I had to take it to a vw-center. They did change 1 "ignition coil" (if that is the right term for it) and it worked fine for some months. But last week it happened again, it is rather awkward since you get heavy vibrations from the normally unperceptible engine. I had to tow it to the same vw-center and now they change the remaining 11 "ignition coils". However it doesn't run true...! The "exhaust" symbol didn't light but the motor didn't fire on all cylinders, it was quit noticeable. Is this a known problem? What else than the "ignition coils" can be the cause of the problem?

I've having difficulty removing the taillights from the trunk. I'm sure it is simple but there must be a trick to do this properly. I've removed the nuts but I can't bulge the "lockwashers" per the instructions. The threaded stud is a special design and has some type of spring mechanism. I tried removing one of these a few years ago and I broke the stud. How is this done? Below are the Bentley instructions which are not useful.

94 - Taillamps Tail light assembly in luggage compartment lid, removing and installing
Removing:
-Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical components and remove ignition key.
-Remove trim for rear lid Body Interior - Repair Group 70 .
-Release the latching mechanism - arrow - and separate the connector.
-Remove bolts - arrows - .
-Remove the lock washers and the tail light housing.
Installing: Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
-If a new taillight is being installed, remove the protective foil from the gasket.
-Connect the connector.
-Insert the taillight into the body opening.
Note: When installing the taillight housing, pay attention to the gap dimensions.
-Gap dimensions of tail lamp assemblies .
-Move the taillight by hand into the correct position in the body, hold the position and then tighten the nuts.
-Tighten the nuts using 4 Nm torque.
-Coding or adaptation of the taillight is not required after installation.
-Check the rear light function, Rear light function, checking .

It frustrates me to have to ask but I can't find what I'm looking for after several attempts. The footwell cover just below the steering wheel appears to have hinges at its bottom so I'm thinking the top merely snaps into place but I've found no literature referencing that. I've pulled what I felt was a safe amount with no release and I don't want to damage the cover if I'm wrong on my assumption. I can't see any screws to remove but I'm just not sure, what does it take to remove?
I've got the Bentley repair manual but it skips by this as it's not worth referencing going straight to the cover behind it.
