Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Speedometer Off By About 5 Mph?

So I'm on my 3rd B6, First was a 2006 2.0t Komfort w/ convenience (one of the first off the line!), the second was a 2008 2.0t Lux and now I've got a 2008 VR6 w/ Sport 2. ALL 3 have had the analog speedo (dash) be off by between 3 and 5 mph. Both '08's have the climatronic and when you put them into the diag mode and look at the speed readout, you can plainly see that they are off by approx. 5mph.

t's really annoying having to explain who drives the car that the speeds reads 5mph fast... Or continue to remind my wife that because the cruise is set to 80 means I'm going 75...

Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Speedometer 3 Mph Off?

Since I've had a GPS, I have noticed that my speedometer on my '06 Passat is 3mph off. Is a GPS something I can take to the dealer to have my speeds fixed? I always wondered why people seemed to blow by me.

Passat (B7) :: Speedometer Adjustment To Match Reading On GPS?

Is there a way with VCDS to adjust the speedometer reading to match my GPS? The reason I am asking is that I have the wrong winter tire size on my car (205-55-R16) and the difference is 15km/hr more the I really drive.

Passat (B6) :: 2008 - Speedometer Reading High About 4 Mph

Just purchased a 2008 2.0T Passat wagon, lux version. I believe my speedometer may be reading high by about 4 mph. I seem not to be keeping up with most of the traffic (assuming they are driving close to the posted speed limit). Not sure how to really check this out, but assuming the mile markers on the interstate are accurately spaced one mile apart, at 60 mph it should take me 60 seconds to cover the distance and at 70 mph it should take me 50 seconds to cover the distance. If my thinking is correct and upon doing that I find that it takes me about 66 seconds to cover the one mile at an indicated 70 mph on my speedometer
.
Is my thinking correct and/or is there another way to check? Have never been able to find a shop that has calibration equipment so I just resort to this method.

Passat (B7) :: Cruise Control Setting Mismatch With Speedometer

Noticed a mismatch of 3-4kms between Cruise setting and speedometer? Example, when i set my cruise to 100km/h my speedometer needle actually indicates 103km/h. I took it to the dealer and they said it is normal because the cruise and speedo get their speed signals from different sources.

Golf/GTI VI :: Speedometer Is Off By 6 Km/h?

On a road trip my buddy noticed I was going a little slow. I thought I was doing 115 km/h, but my buddy said I was doing 109 km/h. So we did a test while on the road and sure enough my speedometer said I was doing 115km/h both on the gas and in crusie control mode while my buddy behind me said his car showed 109 km/h. I further confirmed the speed by checking on my GPS which again confirmed the issue at 6km/h less than what I was showing on the dash.

How the heck can this be? I have changed my wheels to 17" wheels with 225 45 17 tires which I know is fine for my 2010 Golf TDI. My alignment is fine as the car tracks perfectly straingth and no issue there. Tire pressure is fine also. Really, I don't know if this is even something to call out.

What could it be?

Mercury :: Speedometer About 8 - 10 Mph Off?

When I drove my 1952 Mercury and checked the speed with a speedometer app on my smartphone it seemed to be about 8-10 mph off... When it says 50 it's really about 40 mph. What would cause this? I know the tires are the correct size - not sure if that would make it read inaccurately.

Kia - Rio :: Speedometer Drops To Zero

I have a 2002 Kia Rio that I bought new in the summer of 2002. It did not have cruise control so I got one installed by a third party. Then I moved to St. Louis from Seattle in winter of 2003. About 3 - 4 years later the speedometer would not move from zero when I first drove the car. This seemed to happen only on real cold days, and after driving around for 10 minutes or so, the speedometer would suddenly start working again. Kia convinced me that my third party cruise control was installed incorrectly and was causing the problem (despite the fact that it had worked perfectly for years). They disconnected the cruise thingy and the speedometer worked just fine.

Then a couple of years later the problem started again, but in all temperatures, not just when it was cold. A different Kia dealer found the problem and fixed it (but they didn't tell me what they had done). Now just 3 months ago the problem started again, but then it appeared to be related to driving in the rain. I was on a 6 day trip to Seattle and it rained most of the time. As soon as I got back to dry Reno, the problem went away. But now the speedometer is always at zero. I don't know if it will start up after driving for a while because I rarely drive in Reno for more than 15 - 20 minutes.

Ranger :: 1996 - Speedometer Is Off By 20 MPH

I have a 96 ranger 2.3 liter 5 speed. I just bought it and so I don't know the history..

The speedometer says 90 and the GPS says 72...
The speedometer says 50 and the GPS says 36....

It seems the faster i go the more its off. I checked the tire sizes first. It has 195/70/R14 these look small but i was told these are what stock for the 2wd.

Then i was told to try to replaced the Speed sensor.. I was told there are 2. One on the tranny and one on the rear. I was told to replace the one on the tranny. I did and there was no change. I searched a lot of threads and the rear sensor seems to only get replaced when the speedometer stops working altogether.

Is this something I should have the dealer correct or just roll with it? I've seen others post similar results, so wondering if ALL Sonatas do this?

SC/SL/SW :: Speedometer Difference To A NEW And WORN Tire?

Basically got myself into a big pickle with tickets.... as related to keeping my job. I got two serious traffic violations (15+ mph over the limit) that'll count against my CDL.

My question basically comes down to having brand new tires vs. tires that are worn to the bars indicating tread depth is too shallow. Yes, that difference can be enough to determine whether or not I'm under or over 15mph over the limit.

Okay I guess that really wasn't a question .... Is the speedometer calibrated to "new" tire or a "worn" tire?

I drive a '98 Saturn SC1 with the stock steal rims... R14 if I remember right. I basically have two new tires on the front end... One about 1000 miles off the other one.
