GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Heat Not Working While Topping And Start Up?
The heat in my newly purchased GTI 20th AE doesn't seem to be functioning as well as my previous 2005 gti. The heat only seems to really work when I'm driving around with the engine turning atleast 2500 rpms. If I start the car up in the morning, the heat gets slightly warm, but nothing like it should. If I'm driving around town and come to a stop at a light, I can feel the heat cool down. The engine temp is perfect though. Stays at a consistant 190 degrees. I did a search and found a few relating complaints, but for different cars. Is there a valve on one of the heater hoses to the heater core that might not be functioning properly? blocked heater core?

The shutdown happens a few times a year. Got worse recently after topping off tire pressure. I'm assuming this is a ground issue. Will check the ground coming off the battery if there is one. Everything else seems fine other than lots of radio static on some days.
View 1 RepliesFord Escape / Hybrid :: 2012 XLT Front End - Inside Tire Wear And Suspension Pop Over Bumps
I realize that is vague. I realize it could be anything from a wheel bearing to a ball joint, tie rod, control arm/control arm bushing, etc.
Are there any very common front-end steering or suspension issues on 2012 escapes? When tires are inflated to 32-34psi, the car tracks straight, gets great mileage --but almost sounds/feels like it's got a CV or wheel bearing issue on the front right. Every time I hit the brakes while backing out of the driveway I can hear a slight bump or pop. When the car is parked (flat, tires straight) there is slight play left-to-right in the steering wheel.
I'm a German car guy. Have never touched this car. (Wife's car) Right tire is wearing bad on inside. Looking for some direction so I can assess. Car has 88k miles. This will be a DIY fix. Don't have any manuals or anything so just looking for a heads up where to start. Also is Haynes the best way to go? Is there a Bentley? Anything online/CD/DVD?
Play in steering wheel makes me think tie rod (fine because easy/cheap) but such excessive wear on the inside right front makes me think wheel bearing. Could it be both? This is AWD. Is this (like a Subaru) a CV joint where the front spindle passes through a strut base that everything attaches to --so there's an inner and outer wheel bearing?
Does anything up front require a press or can it all be done without a press?
Ford Brakes/Suspension :: Front Left Steer Is Making A Lot Of Noise And Wearing On Tire Inside Edge
I bought a 2002 F250, 2 months ago love the truck drives great for 130000 miles, but the front left steer is making a lot of noise and wearing on the inside edge and like its skipping every couple inches so very noisy thought maybe ball joints but a buddy say tire is out of balance truck does not pull left or right and drives straight...

I went to a big box store to have new tires put on the rear of my 2002 Nissan Altima. They told me I had a stud broken from the inside of the wheel. The lug nut is still attached, and they can't get the wheel off. Both the stud and the nut turn freely within the socket. Is there any way to get this off without having to pay the $70 a tire place will charge me to fix it? I don't know how long its been like this. I currently have three new tires and one old.

Phaeton :: Whirring Noise Coming From Inside The Front Wheel Arch
3 days ago I noticed a whirring noise coming from inside the front nearside wheel arch . I thought that it would stop when the engine cooled down but on checking at various times over the Easter weekend it runs continuously . It is not the radiator fan , more like a motor or relay that won't shut off .
View 14 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Squeaky Steering Wheel / Rubbing Against The Column Or Something Inside
Sometimes my steering wheel squeaks. It sounds like plastic rubbing against plastic. The first dealership said the compartment under the steering wheel was rubbing against the column or something inside and that they made an adjustment and the sound stopped. It didn't. The second dealership told me they couldn't figure it out unless they heard the sound. Since it's not every time I drive, sure enough it made no noise at the dealership that day. The head of the shop looked into it and couldn't figure it out. He dry-lubed behind the steering wheel to get to a spring back there. He did the same for where the steering column comes into the car at the bottom of the car. Good for a few days. Squeaking back today.
View 9 RepliesAccent RB (2012+) :: 2013 - Front Inside Wheel Well Liner Shredding
My 2013 Accent seems to be shredding the front inside wheelwell liner. I have to get both of them replaced. I noticed this had already happened when I bought the car, but since I didn't hear any noise during the "spirited" test drive, I figured who cares?
I was wrong. They rub whenever I go over a slight bump. The tire size is OEM. I am assuming it's happening because they are already shredded and loose.
Is this a common problem with the Accent (of course, if it happens with aftermarket larger rims or tires I get it)...
Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Loud Clicking Noise Inside Steering Wheel
On a recent trip to the service dept, I mentioned that the steering wheel makes a loud clicking noise anytime it's turned, the service guy said "it's normal and supposed to do that it's a spring"... Really? I find it hard to believe that Hyundai would make us listen to this annoying sound all the time.

So i was cleaning my 2007 mazda miata and i noticed one wheel has some fairly deep scratched grooves inside of it. I inspected all the other tires and the other front tire has similar marks but they are way way more of a surface/barely there scratches. The rear wheels are not scratched. I am also hearing a rotational noise when i drive. It gets faster as I accelerate and slower when I brake. I don't know anything about cars.

Is there a way to grease the steering shaft or whatever is making the squeaking sound inside the cab when I turn the wheel? I've got a 70 F250. When I got the truck it come with extra wheels. So I have 9 wheels altogether. I know originally they came with 16.5 wheels. However the tires on most of the rims say there 16" and 2 say there 16.5". They all seem to be the same size rim though. So how do I know if they're 16.5 or 16? And I"m guessing 16" tires should not be mounted on 16.5" rims.
View 6 RepliesToyota - Suspension - Camry :: 2000 - Vibrating Steering Wheel?
Slightly into my drive, my car begins to vibrate in what feels like the front end as well as in the steering wheel. At first it started when I was at high speeds on the highway but now it happens as lower speeds (like 40 mph). It does not happen at a specific speed only (so I don't believe it is a balance issue). Also, it doesn't happen all the time...sometimes it only lasts 5 minutes and sometimes it lasts longer. My tires are fairly new and recently checked for uneven wear, I've had an alignment and balance done so now I'm confused about the difference between issues with the following parts: struts, tire rods, rotors, or CV joints.
View 2 RepliesSuspension - Jetta - Volkswagen :: 2005 - Wheel Wobble While Braking?
My car has almost 80k on it. It is a 2005 VW Jetta 1.8T GLI. Been a great reliable car but I've been having a lot of trouble with the front end suspension. I get a horrible wobble in the front end. Translates into the steering wheel and feels like the wheels are wobbling very quickly only under braking. It is much heavier under heavy braking, but still exists even under light braking. I've replace my tie rods after finding a little play in them, checked my CV joints and axles and they looked good. Balljoints seem ok. Struts and strut mounts were replaced and the car has brand new tires that were balanced and aligned and rotated. When I replaced the tie rod, it went away temporarily but is back worse than ever. I'm getting really frustrated with this and the car feels dangerous to drive.
