Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 - Wear On The Inside Of Left Front Tire
I have a 99 F-250 extended cab superduty 4 wd with the 7.3. I also plow during the winter. Recently I've noticed wear on the inside of the left front tire. Brought it to a tire shop and had them check the front end and alignment. They told me that the specs were "within" tolerances" for my truck. I'm stumped as to why the abnormal wear if everything is supposedly good with the alignment.

I have a 2001 Escape XLT, when driving thru a parking lot or otherwise at slow speed and hitting bumps, I can hear a clunking sound from the right front tire. Its especially bad if I drive over cobblestone or on a dirt road. Could this be the CV joint? Ball Joint? How can I tell what it is?

View 1 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Unusual Rear Tire Inside Wear / Car Is Shaking On Freeway At 75 Mph
So on my wives Prius which is an 2007 the rear tires are wearing more greatly on the insides that the outsides and they are wearing evenly on both the rear left and rear right inside. So not one is more worn than the other..
The tires are heavily worn, with that said the car rides extremely bumpy to the point the entire car is shaking on the freeway at 75 mph or higher. So much so it induces motion sickness which is odd for me. So also besides the alignment question, what else could be causing the insane amount of bumpiness? I balanced and rotated them yesterday but that didn't solve the issue.
Passat (B6) :: Droning Tire Noise And Excessive Wear On Inside Tread Blocks On All 4 Wheels
About 5K miles after putting on 18x8.5 rims with 235-40 tires noted bad reverberating droning tire noise and noticed stairstep pattern of excessive wear on inside tread blocks, equal on all 4 wheels. Is this just from going from OEM ET47 to ET35? Is camber adjustment indicated and is camber adjustable also on the rear wheels? (Of course, noise and reverberation gone when OEM wheels put back on)

So my strut mounts are shot and I wanted to add adjustable rear control arms to eliminate tire wear. So thinking of going with Bilstein HD's with the stock springs. Oh and BTW want to keep stock ride height since it is my daily. The only option I would consider for springs would be the euro version of the stock springs.
View 4 RepliesFord Excursion :: 2001 - Front Tire Wear On Both Outer Edges
I have am 01 6.8 two wheel Limited. about 150K. My question is about both the front tires having more wear on both the inner and outer edges. The inner is a bit more but not by much.
I have been keeping very close track of my air pressure because I know the usual suspect is low air pressure but I am running 75psi and the max sidewall reads 80psi. I have never had it below 72psi. The truck tracks and steers down the road very nice with no drift or pull to either side. wheel balance is good.
Front end align is good. I have no issues with how she drives down the road. Everything seems to be checking out to be in spec..?
Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 2002 - Tire Wear And Squeaking Front End
My '02 Ranger has had tire wear for a while now, and its on the inside of both front tires. I was thinking it was either toe or camber, or maybe both. I havent been able to get an alignment recently. If its the camber, should I get the camber kit from Ford?
As for the squeaking, it first happened last summer, and I sprayed WD-40 on the upper control arm bushing and it went away until last week (obvoiusly temporary). Now its back. Also happens while turning the front wheels.
Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2004 - Intermittent Rattle / Clunking When Hitting Bumps While Going Straight And Especially Turning Right
2004 Escape 2wd 6 cylinder 170k miles. Intermittent clunk/rattle sound when hitting bumps while going straight and especially turning right. I felt a slight bumping in passenger side floor board. Inspected everything. All looks good and tight- no signs of loose hardware, worn ball joints or tie rods. Only thing I noticed was a slight rub mark (missing paint) on the lower control arm under the sway bar on drivers side. And noticed the rear bushings on the control arms are tearing.
Not collapsing but with the tire removed and suspension hanging at full droop you can see tears in that rear bushing on both sides. We painted the arm and sway bar in the rubbing location to see if it makes a mark there again after driving it a few days. Question is do you think that the rear control arm bushings could be allowing enough movement to contact the sway bar or make the noise? The bolts are tight. Has newer Moog struts and newer swaybar end bushings, possibly sway bar hold down bushings too- (they look pretty good).
Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2008 - Flat Spots On Tire
So I have a 2008 escape 4wd.... I am getting a few flat spots on the inside passenger rear tire... So I figured it was the shocks so I unbolted both and cycled them and they both felt the same... There was dampening you can feel the oil going through the valves or whatever... I have felt completely bad shocks before and it was just a smooth motion when cycling the shocks... Can it still feel like there good but there not? The thing has 85k on it and I'm not sure if they have ever been replaced before..

I have a 2009 Escape that has developed a clunking noise in the right rear. On any bumpy roads it sounds like the shock tower lost it's top bushing but it could also be coming from somewhere lower. It also seems like the truck drifts to the right on bumpy left hand turns, kind of scary.

View 14 RepliesFord Escape / Hybrid :: 2009 - Tire Pressure Sensor Malfunction Fault
The facts: 2009 4x4 V6 Escape with Valve stem mounted TPMS
I am getting a tire pressure sensor malfunction fault. The warning light is on and the error message is displayed on the little screen in the gauge cluster.
What I have tried: First I should say I have replace to defective sensor twice now...
1) I put the escape in tpms train mode by hitting the hazard switch off/on about 6 times.
2) I used the train tool to train all the tires but there is one that is giving me trouble and will not train.
3) I tried deflating the problem tire and inflating it to the specified pressure given on the be pillar of the escape (30 psig)... after inflating it I tried to retain it with no luck.
4) I tried rotating the tires and as I mentioned earlier I have replaces the problem sensor twice. Still can't can't get the problem tire to train.
My thoughts:
1) I don't think this is a module error because I can train the other tires and since I rotated them I know their position is not a factor.
2) its possible that I have got two defective tpms sensors but I think that is unlikely.
3) I have read of another procedure to put the escape in tpms train mode that requires you to turn the ignition on/off, step on the break pedal, tap your head and rub your belly, etc... but I have not tried this method. Is there a difference from this train mode verse hitting the hazard switch on/off about 6 times?
4) Does the train tool only work on previously trained sensors? do I need to register the new TPMS sensor with the TPMS module? I have an OBDII tool that connects to scanXL software on my laptop which included the ford proprietary protocol. I looked for a way to program a tpms sensor (similar to how I did it with my toyota) but couldn't find the option.
Golf V R32 :: Excessive Tire Wear On The Front
Having issues with excessive front tire wear? I have had the alignment checked by two VW garages and a third party garage and all of them confirm that the alignment is good.
The VW garage also confirmed that as far as they can see there is no suspension issues, but the excessive wear on the front tires indicates that something is wrong.
I have owned the car since new in 2008 so know it has a clean history no accidents.
Both front tires look like this.....
Passat (B5) :: Front Passenger Tire Is Getting Some Inner Wear On It
I notice that my front passenger tire is getting some inner wear on it. The tire doesn't even have 5k on it. I know I should get an alignment that's a must but is there something that might be wrong with it anyways since its just the front passenger?? Balljoint, tierod end and etc?? I don't really have a local auto shop that I trust 100% so I don't want them to be like, there is 3 balljoints out and etc. I had the inner tierods (both) and a few balljoints fixed last year and then got an alignment done. Any tips??
