Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2002 - Cluster Module Illumination / Horn / Cruise Control Not Working?
I am having trouble with all sorts of functions on my 2002 F150 4x4, 4wd not working, cluster module illumination not working, horn not working, reving up and down at idle and sometimes dyin, cruise control quit working. I have been reading it is the GEM module that causes these issues. My question is I ordered a new one from Ford, when it arrives I was told I can just install it and It should be pre programmed. but one ford house tells me that they have to install it and program it. Which it right? I have seen several sites on u tube where people replace the module and then start their truck right up without any issue.

The lights do not work on the Climatic control unit. When I press the AC button, it lights up though. What causes this or how I can fix it? We have an '01 Passat GLS.

Yesterday, my wife said she tried to turn the fan control knob from 2 to 3, but there was some resistance. She turned it off, and when she tried to turn it back on, nothing happened. The fan control knob turns as it should, but no fan is blowing, and therefore, no AC. Also, we noticed after dark that the lights inside the HVAC control unit had also died. I was thinking fuse, but checked all fuses related to HVAC and dash lighting and they were all OK.

My 04.5 GLI's cluster is so dim when illuminated (yes i have the dimmer turned up). I was comparing it to my friends GLS jetta and my other friends GLX GTi (they have a different cluster for me obviously, but same as each other correct?). Unfortunately there are no other 3/2/G's around the area to compare with. i have a new south color match boost gauge, and it is almost twice as bright as the cluster. yet it looked "perfectly matched" in my friends GLS. Are the 3/2/G clusters just straight up dimmer or what can i do to diagnose/fix this problem?

I just picked up this truck and have found my first undisclosed problem. The A/C only works on MAX. If you turn to any other setting, regardless of selected temp, the air blows hot. And I mean full hot! I was thinking the control panel assembly is bad?

My Cruise control hasn't been working for a while now when i first bought the car it would work when it wanted to... sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't or even sometimes it would work then all of a sudden while its in cruise it would just stop working
Now I want to fix this problem and get it to work again what should i start to look for, what could be some common stuff that I should look for I heard the cruise control is a PITA to fix once they stop working. Passat (B5) :: Traction Control Is Not Working When Started Car Up
ok.. I have an 05 1.8t. I just got a Forge Diverter Valve to replace the stock one. Changing out the Valve was pretty easy however after i was all done I started the car up and my Traction Control is not working. I just got the car from a VW Dealership, its not dogged out or anything. Could I have unhooked or moved something without knowing it? or is it just a coincidence that this popped up at the same time?

I just purchased my 98 1.8t manual and for the most part it was a steal. Only 108k miles. Everything is strong just a few minor things. Right now I want to get my cruise control working. Is there a light in the dash that goes on? What are the fuses related to it? Nothing happens when I turn it on or hold the button to set it. what should I look for?

I just picked up an 01 F150 2wd for my daughter. I've noticed that the light up odometer has no illumination when the headlights are off, and when I turn the headlights on (to illuminate the gauges) I get just the faintest bit of light of the numbers of the odometer. It's so dim that unless it's nearly dark outside you can barely even tell it's lit up. The dimmer dial for the gauges is turned all they way up to max before the dome light comes on.
The LCD display for the odometer wouldn't use a traditional filament style bulb for light, so I'm at a loss right now.

My buddy has a 2002 Camry LE(?), without Automatic Climate Control. He had experienced the flashing A/C light like many others, but his solution to the problem was to direct-wire the compressor to the battery. Seemed to work fine, and the compressor still works. Fast-forward to two weeks ago. All HVAC function stopped working from the standpoint of air blowing. No outside air. No A/C. No heat. AND no rear defroster. He replaced the Magnetic Clutch relay tonight thinking it might have something to do with the problem, but that did not solve it. We checked the blower motor, and it only has 0.01V going to it when the air is on. We're getting no sound of anything going on in the cabin.

Just got back from a 1200 mile camp trip pulling an 18K toy hauler. 500 miles into the trip the HVAC blower stopped working. Right after the torrential downpours we had last week. Did some limited checking and found the relay under the hood real hot. Swapped it out with the DEF relay and no luck. All the fuses were good.
This was in the Littleton, MA area. Dragged the truck and camper to a Ford dealer who had no interest - "make an appointment for sometime next week". Dragged the trailer to another Ford dealer who was equally not interested. From here we towed the 130 miles to our next stop.
You really miss your HVAC when you have to drive with all the windows open and two fur dropping Golden Retrievers in the back seat. The fur just circles around and ends up either in your eyes, nose or mouth.
Next day I was off in search of a repair. 20 or so miles north I find the next Ford dealer not intrested. Now I'm pissed and rant a little bit at the dealer.
I did almost 20 years in new car service, all highway dealers. Not once did we turn down a vacationing family on the road with vehicle troubles. We have even done engines and transmissions for travelers broken down.
60 miles to the next dealer in Laconia, NH, Irwin Motors, Ford, Lincoln and Toyota.
Same initial story “we are really busy and backed up”.
But, if I was willing to wait a little bit they would see what they could do.
45 minutes later I get the news that I need a blower motor and it is ordered.
No problem. I show up at 2, park the 5<sup>th</sup> wheel in the lot and at 3:30 we have a free wash coupon and we are on our way. And the service people couldn’t have been more pleasant to deal with. Even the techs came out to visit the dogs as we were walking around. 5 stars for Irwin Motors.
