Ford Wiring/Electrical :: 2000 F150 - Power Cuts Out When Attempting To Start
2000 XLT F150 4.6 - New starter & solenoid(s), battery cable & fuse links good.
When i turn the key, I hear one single click and the power cuts out entirely. I can't attempt a second start or turn on the lights or have any power going through the truck until I disconnect the battery for about 10 seconds then reconnect. Electrical becomes live again, then when the ignition is turned the electrical cuts out again. I do hear a single cluck at the starter (probably attempting to engage when it cuts out) and a clunk right at the inside fuse box (drivers side).
Ford Wiring/Electrical :: 2000 F150 - Hooking Power Door Lock To Command Start?
I am trying to hook up my power door locks to my command start. I am having trouble getting it to work. Ive tried a number of relay diagrams from the12volt.com. I've tried actuators/reverse polarity and it blows both my factory door lock fuse and the fuse I have supplied to the relays. Ive also tried 5 wire alternating 12 volt positive door locks, and 3 wire positive door lock combinations. Both of these combinations the relays click back and forth fine with the actuators unhooked, when I connect the actuators the doors unlock with the factory switch but when I unlock with my remote it blows the fuse. How to properly connect the actuators?
View 3 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 - Electrical Malfunction - Dash Ticks - Engine Won't Start - Dies Most Of The Time?
I have a 2000 7.3 f450 having some electrical issues. When you turn the key on sometimes the dash will start ticking and left side light flashing...engine will turn over but it won't start. The ticking is coming from under the hood relay 32 (you can hear and feel it clicking). Book says its injector driver module power relay. A lot of the times it will start fine other times it will be running and just die (prob because of this issue) happened once when I was driving.
What to check here already replaced the relay still have the problem.
Electrical-wiring - Ranger :: 1999 XLT Electrical Power Lost When Turn Key To Start Position
My 1999 Ford Ranger XLT, 6 cylinder, auto trans, with 134K miles has an electric problem. When I turn the key to the 'on' position, all dash lights show normal, headlights work, radio plays, etc. But when I turn the key to the 'start' position, all electric power is lost. The power remains lost until I disconnect and reconnect the battery ground wire. After reconnecting, I again have power until the key is turned to the 'start' position. I was able to jump start the truck, so I assumed I needed a new battery. I bought one a week ago, and was back to normal until today. The truck started, I drove 4 miles to the grocery store, and then I found myself back to square 1 (i.e., the no-start situation).
View 3 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2000 - Electrical Malfunctions - A/C Won't Work
OK... My '00 GLX 4-motion 30v has started to really piss me off! It started about a month ago with the trunk latch. The light would come on in the dash and I'd check it and it would be open. I didn't open it! Then when I try to reclose it, no luck. Won't latch! So I look at the latch and it seems to be broken. But then I was driving down the road and the trunk just locked itself! I couldn't even get it to latch the day before and now it's locked! Next the rear view mirror decides to go all hazy and piss all over the dash! WTF! Now the autodimmer doesn't work! The rain sensing wipers quit and now the delay setting just does nothing! Then, as if that weren't enough, the A/C just decids to not work anymore! It won't turn on the compressor. It was working fine when I got to work and then when I got back in a few hours later, nothing! It has good system pressure, but it's like the controll unit isn't telling the compressor to kick! Up untill this point the only problems it's has giving me were the infamous tie rods and some wheel bearing noise from up front, oh and the camshaft seals. Starting to get pissed at the thing! Leaning toward the BMW side of things very quickly.
View 3 RepliesIgnition - Dodge - Caravan - Electrical-wiring :: 2000 - No Blower / Power Seats / Blinkers / Power Locks?
Blower, seats, locks, blinkers stopped simultaneously, abs and airbag light came on. The internet suggested it was the ignition switch, I changed it to no avail. The horn, wipers, 4-way flashers, headlights, taillights, and brake lights all work. Is my wife correct in suggesting we replace this 140,000 mile pile of rust?
View 5 RepliesPassat (B5) :: No Start - Brief Electrical Burning Smell
I have a 99 B5 v6 Passat TIP. Was doing a lot of driving around today, in & out of stores. Last store of the day go get in the Passat and now it wont start. I did smell a brief electrical burn but was unable to locate the source.
When I try & start the car nothing happens, no crank. The windows locks radio all function.
I am able to lock the car and unlock the car with the key in the door. The alarm arms & disarms without issue.
I have checked the fuses as well as the relays and they seem fine. I have replaced the ignition switch and still the same issue.
I have tried starting the car in neutral as well and no luck there either.
What is the best way to test the switch to make sure my new one isnt bad. Any way to use a jumper wire to attempt to start the car?
Ford Wiring/Electrical :: 2000 - Power Door Lock Not Working?
I have a 2000 f250 super duty. Right now the only problems with it are:
1: When i press the door lock switch the passenger door lock will click and come down about half way but the door still is unlocked. in order to lock it, you have to press the latch down by hand.
2: My key won't unlock or lock the driver's side door from the outside, however it works to start the truck and open the passenger door.
3: When i bought the truck the previous owner game me a handheld wireless unlock and lock button. The little black thing with an alarm button, and it doesn't work either, i replaced the batteries and still nothing. So what would be the solution to fixing all of this?
Elantra MD (2010-15) :: No Electrical Power / Will Not Start
Today I was taking me sister to a DR appointment. I believe I turned off the car when I got back in the car was dead. There was no electrical power,not lights horn etc. I took the key out and in multiple time nothing. I got out raise the hood and look about but nothing suspicious stood out. Previously on an intermittent basis sometimes when I got into start the car the clock was off by about 2 hours and all the radio presets were gone. This is a 2013 Coupe with manual transmission. Finally I remembered a similar situation I had with a Saab I had. I got in and rolled the car a bit in neutral and popped the clutch with no key in it. When I tried the key it came started as usual.
View 4 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: No Electrical Power / Sound When Turn The Key To Start
I have a 2007 santa fe. In the last year or so, when you turn the key to start the car - you get nothing... Like it has no electrical power, no sound, etc. However, it has never lasted more than 1min to an hour it varies. There is nothing you can do about it, just try it a couple of times, come back and try it again. It has never not started eventually. About 95% of the time, it starts within 10 min after you start trying it. However every now and again it is 10 min to an hour or more. Sometimes it goes weeks without doing it (starts the first time) and then you get a string of everyday for weeks.
The dealer can't figure out whats wrong, they need it to stop working completely. I am an engineer and have not been able to find any correlation (cold weather vs hot), not driving it for a while, turning off ac, lights, radio, using a different key. Also, during this time the battery has been periodically tested and has tested out fine.
Ford Aerostar :: Clacking When Try To Start / All Electrical Power Lost
The problem started with me leaving the parking lights on, battery was discharged overnight; jump started it, drove it around to charge the battery, ran fine for two days. Now when I switch Ignition Switch to start I hear a sort of mechanical "clack" and I lose all electrical power, nothing, nada. Removed and took the battery to check it and charge it, tested good and is now fully charged.
Reinstalled battery, same symptom, a "clack" when I try to start it, then dead, all electrical power disappears unless I rock the steering wheel up and down, rock the shifter through the gears, etc. It's been raining in Florida daily, I wonder if water is to blame. Start Lock Relay?? Ignition Switch??
Passat (B5) :: Driver Side Rear Door Lost All Electrical Power
I have intermittent power problems with the drivers side rear door. The lock, window and even the light under the door stop working. I know that it is a connection problem but wanted locating where connectors are. If I jiggle the wires going through the door it seems to sometimes connect and work. It seems that the connection problem is not in the door itself but somewhere in the car. Is there any connectors in the pillar or somewhere else and what is the best way to get it apart to work on the connections.
View 1 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2001 - Got Alternator Workshop Warning - Electrical Systems Lost Power
So i JUST got my timing belt replaced on my 2001 B5 Passat 4motion, took it in and got it done. Now when the tech was working on it he said that the car was slow cranking one day, and I have intermittantly seen the same thing before, but i have known for a while that I need a new battery, its old, and randomly have little power, but it has always worked once the car is started.
As soon as i picked the car up yesterday I got the "alternator workshop warning" and quickly the car started to act funny as systems lost enough power to not function correctly (abs light, brake light, etc). Now is there ANYTHING else this could be beside the alternator? fuses, wires, other faults, etc, etc.
Ford Wiring/Electrical :: 1965 - Clicking When Turn The Key To Start / Total Loss Of Power
1965 F100 300cid electrical drain...
I am attaching a link to my thread in the 1960's truck forum : [URL] .....
With my limited skill level, I have given up! It could very likely be something I am doing wrong with the diagnoses/troubleshooting.
Basically, When I turn the key to start the truck, I get a clicking solenoid at best and what appears to be a total loss of power. Not even the dome light will come on. The starter is new as is the solenoid.
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2002 - Won't Crank And Start - Electrical Malfunction?
I have a 2002 F-250 with a 7.3.
I have been having a no crank, no start issue off and on for a while. batteries are new, cables are new, connections are clean, and starter has been rebuilt and checked. I bought a "starter relay" which i thought was the top solenoid in this picture. I also replaced the lower solenoid in the picture. The bottom solenoid was replaced with what im sure is the correct replacement. The upper I think is wrong. It started but then shut down and will not restart. The upper solenoid also was very hot after it shut down.
Long story short what is the upper solenoid for? Im assuming its not the starter solenoid. If so where is the Starter solenoid on a 2002 7.3?
Ford Wiring/Electrical :: 1996 E350 - Dash Losing Power During Cranking No Start
I have a 1996 E350 7.3 pstd and it hasn't started since April... Van ran great but had bad bearings in the steering column. I changed out the bearings around the steering stem and it hasn't started since but turns over just fine. The main symptom is the dash loses power when key is rotating from the last run position to the spring back crank position. Basically halfway between run and start the the dash drops power. You can see the problem very well in this video I'm attaching.
I filmed this moths ago so the dash is in disarray and I'm using a screw driver to activate the ignition switch. The screw driver bypasses the key cylinder which I thought was the problem but it's not. Parts I've replaced include new glow plug relay, new ignition switch, alternator rebuilt, 2 brand new batteries, new cps sensor, and also a new pcm. All fuses and relays have been checked and most have been tested, pcm gets power in run position as well. Gotta get this thing figured out it's been sitting for 6 months

Ford Wiring/Electrical :: No Electrical Power After New Solenoid
So I'm writing this for my friend but he has a 1978 F-150 with a 1969 390 in it. He recently had a problem where his starter got stuck and it lit the wires connected to the solenoid up in flames. Well anyways we replaced all the wires that were attached to the solenoid and replaced the solenoid and the starter also. But after wiring it up it has no power whatsoever. The battery is also brand new and the fuse links are fine. What is causing this?

My son has 2000 VW Passat the alarm has went off 3 times before this problem happened, you put the key in the ignition to start the car nothing happens, the radio and all the dash lights work fine. You can hear relays and sensors power up but the car will not turn over.The battery is good and the starter is good, i have noticed that the interior light does not come on when the door is opened and the alarm light(Red flashing on drivers side door) is not on.
